Dixie came highly recommended by my wedding planner and I was not disappointed.  From the consult to the wedding day, she and her staff were courteous, professional, timely and most importantly, amazing at what they do!  On the day of the wedding, Dixie not only arrived fully equipped and a little early but also, she came with 4 assistants instead of the 3 she had told me before, just to make sure that all 8 of the girls would be ready on time.  Even though we had a little situation with a particularly difficult lady (ahem, you know who you are) who changed her hairstyle at least three times, Dixie took care of the situation with no complaints.  That's what I call professional!

So thank you Dixie + crew for making all of us look as beautiful as possible on my big day!

I had the most monogamous relationship of my life with a man named Domingo.  It lasted 6 years.  He was my hairstylist in Montana.

So you can imagine the terror of takin' this hot lil' head of hair to someone else...

Details was a great way to ease into letting someone else come close to me with a pair of scissors.

The interior of Dixie's is chock-full of sparkly things, purdy stank, and all sorts of stuff you just want to touch, smell like, and put on.  Lots of jewelery, shampoos, hair trinkets, purses, etc.  Aside from the stuff, the actual area where you get your hair cut is aesthetically pleasant, and makes you feel a bit like a princess.  This is a salon where you immediately know you are going to walk in, and get the royal treatment.

Besides making a great first impression when you walk in, Dixie's has the word of mouth to back up their pampering persona-  They were voted Best of Napa Valley for Hair and Nail Salons 2007.  Go Dixie's!

My appointment started right on time, with a great consultation including factors such as face shape/hair texture/how I am petrified of bad perms, etc.  There were 3 staff members in the salon, all busy, but all willing to talk to you, and they seemed extremely happy.  As a side, all of them had some fantastic hair, so it made it a little easier to trust them.

After getting my hair cut (see hip bangs in profile) my stylist proceeded to give me the 50's domestic goddess hair-doo of a lifetime, with lots of 'poof' (aka: ratting), and an oh-so-sparkly flower.

I winced when it was time to be rung up...what was this pampering gonna cost me?  $150?  $100?  $1 million dollars?

"That comes to $45 dollars, please."

My jaw dropped to the floor.  I love you Dixie's.  All this pampering for under fifty?  Are you crazy?!

Plus, my hairstylist called me 2 weeks later to follow up on how I was liking the cut, and to wish me a Happy New Year.  Talk about wooing a girl...and in 4-6 weeks we will have another date.  I can hardly wait.

Looks like I found a new Honey for my hair....ahh, to be in love again.

This was one of the worst experiences I have had at a salon.  My maid of honor flew in to town and so we decided to do a consult before the wedding.  Our appointment started thirty minutes late to start things off.  When I finally sat down to go over what I wanted my hair to look like the day of my wedding she told me that she put a collage of my pictures together.  How embarrassing when she showed me!  She had put three different Asians on the sheet.  None of them looked like me!  She then went on to look at what I wanted and was not able to accomplish anything near what I wanted. She kept asking me how to do it and she didn't even give me a finished product saying that the day of the wedding we would be able to.  I was mortified.  My maid of honor at the same time was getting her nails done.  The outcome of that was even worse.  Her nails were not fully covered with polish,  a second coat didn't go on and they chipped within 24 hours, even though they told her to sit and dry them for 40 minutes.  When the appointment after us arrived they were told that it would be a little bit.  They told them that they were running behind because we were late!  Extremely rude.  We were early and they were behind.  Way to blame the customer.  I emailed Dixie within the week saying that I would not be coming back and there wasn't even a follow up asking why.  I recently went to a new salon where the girl used to work there and said it was the worst place to work.  The resort that I am getting married at told me that they had recently taken them off their referral list because they didn't want to work with them.  I would suggest making this an absolute last resort.
