I took my boyfriend here for his annual birthday steak. Being a vegetarian, I usually dread this day and end up eating a potato and a side of creamed spinach, but DeStefano's had an awesome mushroom ravioli dish! the boy enjoyed his filet mignon, we shared a great bottle of wine, and finished it off with some tasty tiramisu.
Great, pricey steak with a STRICTLY local clientele. Skip the salads though! The dressings are too sweet. The owner was EXTREMELY nice

It's really too bad this place hasn't been reviewed more. I guess it's hard to sell a very old-timey looking, very VERY Italian steak joint to the average Williamsburg clientle - but people looking for a steak fix should definitely head over here for a nibble (I guess, with steak, it's more like a gorge)... especially before Labor Day! The place is doing a great special on Tuesdays and Wednesdays where you can get a three course meal for less than $24! A pretty decent, if a bit sweet for my tastes, red is also on the prix fixe for a measly $6. Jump on it!
I suggest that if you do come here for that special, you go for the bacon-wrapped asparagus as your appetizer. The salad was a little underwhelming - iceberg lettuce, some olives, some tomatoes, some onions, and vinegar... but the bacon-wrapped asparagus? Yuuuum.
My friends and I tried the Hangar Steak in a Pomegranate reduction, and the Skirt Steak wrapped around a veal and nut mash. Both were terrific, even if the side that came with it - carrots and potatoes were a little bit boring.
The regular menu is a bigger jump up in price (which is why this prix fixe is an amazing deal), but I remember loving the steak I got that time around as well. While I can't say the flavor matched the best cuts of Luger, it was tender enough to cut with a regular dinner knife and almost dissolved in your mouth. My friend got the mushroom ravioli, and that was pretty good as well and good for if you're dining with friends who aren't fans of heapings of meat.
Service was very friendly, if a little unexperienced. The owner is the friendliest guy in the world though. Maybe you'll get a DeStefano's t-shirt out of your dining experience.
