On my first-ever overnight to Palm Springs, I stayed here and the entire experience was the best. The proprietors are the friendliest people you could ever expect to meet. The rooms are essential Mid-Century Modern gems. The number of rooms is small, so you can't be crowded out of a spot by the pool. The location is just fine, with practically zero road noise. Highly recommended for your next Palm Springs stay.

Easily the best hotel I've stayed in. Never have I seen such a well-appointed, delightfully designed room, nor have I had the pleasure of interacting with such a pleasant proprietor. The only problem is this: I don't want to tell Yelp about it or I'll never again be able to book a room!
Sigh.
Well, the cat's out of the bag. From the free basket of munchies to the veritable pile of current DVDs, this hotel goes the extra mile to provide a thoroughly enjoyable experience to its lucky patrons.
Enjoy!
in an effort to get out of the city we booked a weekend getaway here. it was my first time in palm springs....This place had good reviews and was affordable which had me excited before we even arrived.
its a family run business and that take great pride and care in their work (we met the whole family). the pool was amazing and heated perfectly for late night swims and the mountain view from the pool was gorgeous. for those not interested in spending all day (and night) in the pool they have a ton of DVDs you can borrow (there's a DVD player and cable in the rooms) and they have board games.
larry, judy, and patty were amazing and willing to do everything including make restaurant reservations for us. We even got a free car wash since Larry owns a car wash off the main street as you leave Palm Springs.
In addition to everything listed above there's also fruit available in the morning, a fire pit out by the pool, bikes that you can take out to ride downtown, and since it was a slow weekend we got to check out later (we left around 2 or 3pm). All in all it was amazing and we've already decided that this will be our go to spot on future trips to Palm Springs.
If you like friendly, convenient, and CLEAN then this is the place for you, if you like glitz and bling stay away. The owners, Larry and Patty, make you feel like family and are very helpful with anything you might want to do in Palm Springs. The list of free things include, limo service, bicycles, beverages, fresh fruit, dvds, books, golf clubs, and a car wash (Larry owns the car wash). There are only tens rooms so book early and fair warning---no kids and no pets.
we have our anniversary weekend booked for the next three years out.
I could go on and on about how special this place is.... I feel so lucky to have found a hotel that feels like staying with family. There's no doubt that Larry, Judy and the rest of the family has taken great care in making people feel at home in their hotel. It's simply amazing.

Not only does the DR have the best views, free dvds to watch, oh-so cushy beds, and a load of fun snacks to welcome me to my wonderfully decorated rooms, but wait, there's more... They have have a cozy fire pit, complimentary limo to pick you up from downtown or tandem and basketed bikes to ride around and for some reason, the nicest people congregate here! I feel as if I am forgetting something else, but that's probably just because I have been spoiled rotten by them.
My home away from home in Palm Springs!
Seriously the nicest couple ever that runs the place...when you walk in, it feels like you're greeting old friends in their living room.
Free nibbles in each room, great pool steps away from your room, bikes and a limo service to use.
The place is rated #1 on http://TripAdvisor.com for a reason!!! Simply stupendous!

It's been over a week and I remembered a few important details. I still rate Desert Riviera very highly - perhaps 4.5 stars but here are 3 things I wish were different (and that I need to share with y'all):
(1) There is no way to customize or control the air/temperature. It's either off or on. I thought it was super cold and at times actually uncomfortable.
(2) They need a hook or more shelves in the shower. I had to leave my bodywash, bath items on the floor while showering. A laundry line would be helpful as well (for wet swimsuits).
(3) The walls are thin. There was a group of people who decided to sit and talk until past midnight and I could not sleep! They weren't loud but I could just hear the chatter for what seemed like forever!

Do not get this hotel mixed up with the Riviera Spa Hotel. The Desert Riviera hotel is by far one of the best hotels out there. This is 5-star hotel service on a 3-star budget! The owners are hospitable and only wish for your happiness while staying at their upgraded 50's style hotel. Everything was included in the price from limo rides to bicycles to drinks. This place is a must if you are in the Palm Springs area.
Larry and Judy understand the economic value that great word of mouth advertising and reviews will bring them - tons of repeat business and referrals to friends and family. Although I am tempted to keep this lovely little escape to myself, I will share as I love to turn my friends and family on to my fab finds when it comes to boutique hotels.
What a special place - we stayed in Room 8, one of the smaller rooms but quite lovely and suited us just fine. Larry and Judy had a bottle of champagne waiting for us - it was our anniversary weekend. It is the only room with it's own private patio - and what a cute little oasis to have coffee and pastries in the mornings. Everything is so sparkly and clean - the pool is warm and inviting...and the fire pit is awesome on those cool desert nites. Larry and Judy take great pride in knowing their guests and make sure to introduce guests to one another poolside - just makes you feel so special. Farley gave us a ride on Thursday nite to town and Larry on Friday nite to dinner - such a nice service to provide!
All the little extras everyone has mentioned were such a nice touch - free water/soda/offers of wine and beer...great referrals to local eateries...our faves: Manhattan's and Copley's. The village fair/fest on Thursday nites is worth checking out too...lots of fun stuff to look at and great people watching.
I took advantage of a spa treatment/massage in my room with Pleasann. Wow - incredible...I am a spa junkie and have been to the fanciest spas all over and Pleasann is up there with the best!
I travel a lot on business for my job and have to use the "chain" hotels due to our corporate rates. So when I am traveling for pleasure, I love to stay at small boutique properties and I have to say, by far - the Desert Riveria is now my favorite! In fact, I just contacted Judy today - we are going back for Thanksgiving weekend - maybe this time we will actually go out and see some of the sights in Palm Springs....but I have a feeling the pool and the pleasant company by the fire pit will once again beckon us to just lay back and chill out for as long as we can.
Not only has this hotel experience been the best I have ever experienced, you can see based on prior reviews, they are also consistent & I agree with everything those reviewers stated. It's no fluke that Larry, Patti & Judy go well above and beyond your expectations to make you feel at home. I even overheard our neighbors say to another couple staying at the hotel "Boy, this place is as comfortable as being at home isn't it?" It's on the tip of everyone's tongues your entire stay. I've never had that experience at a hotel, ever!
Something else I thought was absurdly cool. There are no managers on duty overnight. Sure, they have a number posted so you can reach them should you need to, but they trust their guests with the run of the joint. No nasty signs posted with limited pool or fire pit hours, they just ask that you respect your neighbors. What?! That's unheard of. And bring your bathing suit no matter what the weather is like. It was pouring during our stay and the pool was heated to 87 degrees. Steam was coming off the pool it was so warm. They even had an umbrella standing up from the center of the jacuzzi so you can enjoy the jacuzzi in the rain. Who pays attention to details like that I ask??!?!!!
I only have 2, SLIGHT negatives. The first is about our room location. Our room, being so close to the managers office & guest atrium, you get woken up around 8:30 while Larry starts opening up the office & bringing out the beach cruisers. Guests are getting coffee, greeting each other & chatting it up with Larry, it will wake you up. But, you're woken to the sounds of people basking in the glory of this hotel and you feel that way too so you just smile because you appreciate how they are feeling. They can't help feeling so boisterous!
The second is that because the hotel is so small, there is no anonymity. We wanted to have a cup of coffee poolside and slowly and quietly wake up while still in our Jammie's. But you feel kind of obligated to talk to people and make small talk.
Despite those 2 minor negatives pros outweigh the cons a million times over and we wouldn't hesitate to come back to this hotel on our next visit!! The prices are ridiculously cheap considering all the amenities and the far superior customer service by Larry, Patti & Judy earn the 5 stars by a land slide.

Best place ever. As noted, they are #1 on tripadvisor of all the hotels in palm springs, but they actually are also, off and on, the #1 rated hotel in the country! When they're not #1, they're usually #2. This place is fantastic, no nickel and diming, super friendly and helpful staff, everything you need right at your fingertips. I can't wait to go back.
I was totally shocked to see that only one other person has yelped the Desert Riviera Hotel. If you check out http://tripadvisor.com they are #1 of 68 hotels in Palm Springs. This hotel has a bed and breakfast feel since there are only 10 rooms surrounding the heated pool. All rooms have a view of the mountain. Yes, the rooms are newly remodeled, spacious, clean, and bright and the bed/linens...fabulous! We didn't take advantage of the kitchenettes but it was nice to have cold beverages waiting in the fridge for you when you got back to your room after chillin in the pool with the other guests (that all become your friends by the end of your visit). Patti, Judy and Larry rock! Judy helped plan my weekend since I was surprising my bf, Loran, for his bday. She made dinner reservations for us, scheduled a couples massage (which was heavenly) and even picked up Loran's surprise birthday cake for me. Michael (the limo driver) took us out and brought us home each night. The limo definitely added an old school Palm Springs vibe to the night. We loved the fire pit, beautiful grounds, the free movies (what a fun collection of movies...all my favorites), the tasty brewskis and the amazing company. The atmosphere is so comfortable and relaxing that it was tough leaving the place to explore the area. We were too lazy to take a ride on the bikes that they had available to borrow but we'll make sure to next time. Couples, friends or staying solo...all will enjoy the Desert Riviera. You are sure to have a goooooooooooood time! Check out the photos I've attached.
