One of the better "premium outlets" in the US - the Woodbury Commons one in NY is still my personal fave, but this one is a worthwhile stop!
My usual go-to shops are here like DVF, Saks, Barneys, Jimmy Choo, Boss, and Theory. Fabulous accessories from my fave cashmere store, Loro Piana, as well as bags from Bottega Veneta, Gucci. etc...
Prices here are pretty variable. Found some great deals for X'mas shopping including Lacoste polos, shirts and ties from Off 5th, Coach for the in-laws... Picked up some nice stuff from Barneys. RnR had a great denim selection and all were under $150.
It's definitely hit or miss. I love DVF and her wrap dresses are a staple of my work wardrobe, but the prices were terrible! Last season's patterns at more/the same price than what I paid for mid-to late season from Nordies or Saks directly? I don't think so! Ditto with Bottega and Prada - paid less for my bags in the timeless colors than what they're charging for the weird colors here!
One place with great deals was Jimmy Choo - sigh... this is one time I wish I had bigger feet! Some of the classic designs like the Daisy boot, pumps, etc... were on fabulous deals (under $300 for some of them!) Grrrr...
Definitely worthwhile stopping but know your prices before you come!
Camarillo's better. However, Morongo's right down the block, so if you like shopping AND gambling, this is your spot right here. My mom used to like coming here for the Off Fifth Saks Ave outlet... but since all the high-end shoes, bags, and clothing now directly head on over to the one in Camarillo, she never comes here anymore.
The only time I have ever enjoyed coming here was for Black Friday - and it wasn't even for the shopping. The atmosphere was crazy and the feeling of being able to shop at midnight? I loved it. I wish America was like Asia and had night markets, haha.
anyone planning to visit this outlet on a Black Friday, BE READY for long lines trying to get in the stores, paying for your items, and ordering your food from the not so great food courts...
BE READY for the traffic, the "I have to park 10 miles away and freeze my butt off while walking towards the outlet", and the cranky shoppers...
Not really worth the drive. I'm sure like you, like me read the list of stores and became all excited. The reality is all the decent stores have nothing, at least not for men. Barney's and Saks do not carry anything high end and their most expensive stuff is John Varvatos and they have a lot of the typical True Religion, Rock and Republic crap that no on wears anymore. The dior store has some decent stuff but not better than the Rodeo store obviously, and the prices are same as the Rodeo store sales (usually 40-60% of everything). Nike store is lacking, YSL, Gucci, Armani, etc. all are overpriced and have like the most undesirable, ugly clothing from thier respective companies. The Burberry store is actually pretty nice, but I don't wear Burberry :P
I've been her about 3 times and it's definitley not worth the 100 mile drive for me. It's a huge mall and the layout of the mall is terrible so you will end up walking ALOT. The only store I like here is the vans store and the dior store. Wait for sale season and hit Wilshire and Rodeo, they have Saks, Neiman and my fave. Barneys.
Don't waste your time. This place is a total crap fest full of designer named stores with the junk they can't get rid of. For men's stuff better of just catching sales in the regular stores.
There are few deals and few nice items. Parking is a mad house. People were yelling and swearing at each other in the parking lot - ghetto. Who needs this when you are trying to get away from it by coming out here.
Look, if you can't afford the good stuff then don't buy it. This place was a distrubing side of humanity and for some reason full of obnoxious smells.
One bright aspect of this experience was the Creuset store. Good deals on cookware if you are into high end cooking gear. Everything else sucks.
This place has ALOT of shopping! Make sure if you go to plan spending an entire day... Two days would be better if you are coming from far away (great place to do Christmas shopping).
I highly recommend you check out the Bebe store if you like Bebe clothes. I saw a pair of pants that I LOVED in the catalog... They just came out... In the regular stores these went for $175. I was sooooo lucky and found them at the outlet!!!! I bought them for $25! What an amazing deal! And there was nothing wrong with them! Why pay full price? Go to the outlet if you have the opportunity.
Coming here on Black Friday is a total disaster. Some woman thought I was trying to steal her parking, but I was waiting for the parking right next to hers. She was waving her finger at me, okay. The parking spot I was waiting for was free now, but the car coming out blocked me so I couldn't get in until it left. THEN I saw that woman tell some other person to get that spot.. that's when I flipped out & rolled down the windows to start yelling. I was yelling at the person who parked in my spot accompanied by the laughter in the background from the woman who thought I was trying to steal her spot. I was SO pissed off & just continued to look for parking, ending up parking A LOT closer so that made me feel better about that incident.
I don't come here often, maybe once or twice a year. Parking is difficult to find majority of the time, even though the parking lot is HUGE. Amazing, right?
A shopping tip, if you're a student at UC Riverside, go to Customer Service to get a FREE COUPON BOOK, I think it normally cost $5? It'll save you a couple dollars! There's a wide selection of stores to shop from. Also, there are really long lines to buy food. Way too much people here on the weekends, maybe come on a week day & it'll be LESS crowded.
I can only review this place from a men's shopping experience...
Beautiful mountain setting with every premium designer store as well as jewelry, kitchen, sunglasses, and an ok food court area.
Some of the stores will still be outrageously expensive, unless you are visiting from another continent and don't see outlet malls. Ferragamo and Prada - no great deals, Georgio Armani and A/X - yes.
Barneys - still sucks for men's selection. Movado - great watch deals. One of the shining great deal stores - Kenneth Cole...ALWAYS great prices and sales here.
Theory - come on, I know there has got to be a bigger men's selection than what they slip in this store!
Still a fun must see when you are in the Palm Springs area...every time!
I was very depressed that I couldnt find much here despite walking around the entire outlet two times!!! This place has basically all brand name stores including Gucci, Burberry, Coach, Kenneth Cole, Armani and much more. I was itching to buy a purse from Gucci but my instincts told me to GTFO....and I did.
Very very very depressing!!
I've been to seven of the nine Chelsea Premium Outlets in California and this one is my favorite. Their eastern wing of shops has the greatest density of shops that I might be inclined to buy something from. Walking from shop to shop was nice instead of driving a mile down the road for one retailer. The only thing that truly sucks at the east wing is their food court. Avoid it at all costs.
Very nice outlet where if one has the pocket and patience you can do some damage to your wallet. Premium outlet yes indeed with a nice back drop of the moutains.
Hmm... I could swear I have reviewed this outlet before, but if not, then here I go.
I went here today because I missed out on the outing last weekend with my sister. She raved how some of the stores had good stuff, so I drove by my lonesome to Cabazon with the intention of shopping 'til I dropped.
My best advice: Get here early! On Saturdays, they open at 9 AM (although some stores don't open until 10).
Highlights & Lowlights from today's trip:
- The permanent Ed Hardy store had its grand opening today. When I first walked in, one of the SAs approached me and let me know that guys clothes were on the left and girls clothes were on the right. (Inside my head: Duh! Did you really have to tell me? I can find my way around this place!!) But now I know why he said that. Kudos, dude. Lots of shirts and jackets and hats. The staff were friendly, EXCEPT the cashier. She looked to have a permanent sour expression. Salesgirl at the Ed Hardy outlet: If you're reading this, try to crack a smile for at least OPENING DAY for godssake!
- Gucci: Had great stuff, but none that I liked. But maybe you might find something that tickles your fancy!
- Coach: It's always a zoo in there. It's like a club where all the Filipino moms go.
- True Religion: I thought there were some good sales in here because I heard all this commotion/voices. It turns out there were about 3-5 Asian women in the dressing room area just chatting it up.
- Rock & Republic: This place is a total s-hole. It's nice and organized, but where's the selection? Also, apparently it's not sorted out by guys and girls. You have to look at the tag to determine if it's for a female or male. I guess if gender identity is not your thing and you like what you like, then this is the store for you. Otherwise, there's really no reason to come here. You might as well hit up the Nordie's sale if you really want to get a deal on R&R's.
The outlet is out in the boonies but it's close to Morongo casino. I saw a lot of poor dudes standing or sitting outside the stores, staring down at their Blackberries. To those dudes: Drop off your lady, hit up the casino, then pick up your lady in about 5 hours. It's a win-win situation (assuming you hit some sort of jackpot).
This place sits in the middle of nowhere, but the stores and deals are GREAT. They have high line and moderate stores for everyone. My favorites are Barney's, Lora Piani, and Tod's. It gets really crowded around the holidays. I suggest you get there early before the heat and wind rear their ugly heads. If your looking for Coach the line is out the door.
You wont be disappointed if you need just about anything. But you need a shoppers mentality to endure the crowds.
Awesome selection of stores for shopaholics rich and poor! I love how you can shop at a place like Papaya (for those who don't know, it's a very affordable clothing store for ladies) and cross the parking lot and shop in Gucci and Burberry.
I love coming here when I'm in town because there always seem to be a huge additional sale on top of the sale.
A hike out this way is definitely worth it. I like it a lot better than outlets all across the country. The only other one that I think is better is in NY because there is a Chanel outlet.
Shop on yelpers! Make sure you stay hydrated btw. This is a fairly long stretch of outlet mall and 100+ degrees heat you're dealing with!
I recommend coming here during opening so you get the best selection, or when te evening approaches and it starts getting cooler - it's such a pain to carry all those shopping bag in the heat!
One of the cleanest high-scale outlets I've ever been to. Nice stores with a clean, small-ish food court.
Parking is a bit tough.
GUY TIP: If you bring your GF bring a book or Ipod because she will be leaving you in the dust!
The Good: It's got a lot of stores. It's clean, nice, and big. It doesn't get too crowded and the prices are a bit cheaper.
The Bad: It's a lot of walking and the food courts could be better.
Try: the outlet if you specifically know what you're going to buy. Otherwise, it's just a lot of mindless walking in a hot climate.
Don't Try: sliding down the rails. They're not sloped well.
This place is even crazier than the one next door, Cabazon Outlets. There are over 100 brand name stores an it's crazy crowded, but none I were interested in.
One of the best shopping outlets. Hands down. Plus there's the casino next door!
I go to Palm Springs twice a year for two reasons and two reasons only:
1) To get drunk with my college business fraternity (http://www.yelp.com/bi...)
2) To go shopping at the Desert Hills Premium Outlets
Now which reason takes priority? That's debatable...but goddamn, this outlet mall is amazing!
First off, there's a great mix of high-end and mid-range stores. If you're looking for something fancy, they got it. If you're just trying to save a buck or two, they got it.
Secondly, not only does Desert Hills have a good mix of stores, but they have a LOT of them. The whole complex is huge, with you having to cross the street in order to get from wing to wing (or you can be lazy like me and drive from one wing to another). Personally, I think the west wing has much more potential than the east wing (most of the stores I like are in the west wing - BCBG, Ann Taylor, DKNY, Naturalizer, Theory, Kenneth Cole - the business-y stuff), but the east wing has a lot more of the popular brands (Coach, Burberry - you know, the ones that everyone goes gaga over cause they're $20 cheaper than retail).
Overall though, I love coming here. It's a great way for me to spend the afternoon and kill some time before dinner and I always seem to come out with at least one good buy.
Great selection of stores. I went here for the first time a couple days ago and was very impressed with the selection of stores they have. We went pretty early which I highly recommend doing because it gets really hot and really crowded..The stores also give you additional discounts if you have a coupon which you get from customer service. Thanks to them we were able to get 25% off our total at Guess. The only thing i was not impressed with was their food court. It was very crowded and didnt have great food..
This is one of the better outlet malls available. It has a lot of the high end merchandises such as: Gucci, YSL, Jimmy Choo, Burberry, Dior, D&G, and more.
There's always a good deal, if you look hard.
Plan on spending at least three hours here if you're a shopper like I am.
I go here every time I drive to Vegas. It's only about 25 minutes west of 215 on the 10. Last time I went it was during a sale and although I didn't like the crowds, I got some amazing deals!
The outlet is styled like an outdoor strip mall facing inward with pedestrian paths. It looks fairly new, is clean, and has nice architecture. It has 130 different outlets with about five fast food style eateries.
I go there solely because this is the only outlet in Southern California that has an excellent selection of French, Italian, and other high-end designer brands. The mall is also home to a lot of regular brands that you would find at other outlets malls or malls.
Notable high-end stores:
Barneys New York, Bottega Veneta, Burberry, Diesel, Diane Von Furstenberg, Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, Elie Tahari, Giorgio Armani, Gucci, Hugo Boss, Jimmy Choo, Lacoste, Loro Piana, Movado, Rock & Republic, Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th, Salvatore Ferragamo, Tag Heuer, Theory, True Religion, Yves Saint Laurent, Zegna

3.5
My friend and I came here last Sunday after the Modernism show in Palm Springs. He has never been I have long ago but was cool with stopping by. I really didn't seem to think that there were many good deals. Then again we hit up stores like Burberry, Coach, Armani, Michael Kors, Miss Sixty and Energie , Yves Saint Laurent ,and Dolce & Gabbana you know high end stores. So, I wasn't too impressed when I say a YSL dress for $4k and some change. I wasn't thinking deal... And a $200 and something wallet from Coach is not a great deal. I did find a store that sold home goods stuff that was fun... But, it's not like I cook much these days.. We saw we sought and we left.. We were both exhausted from our day in Palm Springs... But I must say it's worth the stop if driving down the 10 FWY.
Honestly many of the clothes I saw looked like shitty stuff that didn't sell. Especially the Miss Sixty store. I thought that they would have some dope stuff but it mostly all sucked!
I've been here serveral times in the past and it pretty nice. They have just about every high end store you can think of. The last time I went was on tuesday so there wasn't a lot of people at all. You have to be prepared for the heat so wear a hat, sunscreen or something. I really like how they have two plaza's to shop from, this whole place is pretty big. I also go to the outlets in Carlsbad and find that the stores in Carlsbad are a little easier on the pockets and the weather is great. I would come here again its not so bad.
So when family is visiting out of the country and want to do some shopping, the first place my mom thinks of is this place. Cabazon. Then of course she thinks of me to drive them there. haha.
Of course I'm not supposed to be shopping. However, this place is massive and usually has good deals. So what was I supposed to do? Sit in the car? Well it was fun. It usually is if I'm in a shopping mood since I always find something :)
The only downside is that it sucks walking around when it's so hot and it definitely hit over 100 degrees that day... in October.. such a bitch.
So thank you for not being too far and for having many many stores to choose from.
I come to this outlet about twice a year and love the stores and selections that they have! My favourite places are Dooney & Bourke, Burberry, Cole Haan, BCBG Max Azria, and Armani Exchange.
I love finding great deals and all in one location. Sometimes outlet store merchandise is stuff that is specifically made for the outlets (which I hate) but most of the stores I mentioned above don't do that, they just have prior season's stuff, which I'm okay with, I don't need to be on the cutting edge of fashion :-p.
The only down side I have is the after thanksgiving day sales that I tried to tackle with my husband but he freaked out after trying to find a parking spot for over and hour and we ended up leaving empty handed :-(. The plus side is that even when it isn't a special sale day, the prices are great!
I thought I died and went to outlet heaven... when I arrived I didn't even know where to start! So many stores to choose from, Barney's, Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, Salvatore Ferragamo, Saks Off Fifth the list goes on...
I had no trouble finding things to buy at this outlet mall, a Michael Kors bag for $60, almost a Dior bag for $500, a dress in Barney's reduced to $20 when I thought it was $50... the list goes on. As my boyfriend was in tow I thought he would be board, he simply wasn't. There were several stores with merchandise to attract him as well.
We stopped on the way the Joshua Tree Forest and ended up coming back afterwards so I could buy more.
This is the kind of place you book a trip to just to shop!
Holy deals Batman!
This is the BEST OUTLET MALL EVER!!!!!
Where else can I afford Prada & Jimmy Choo shoes.
awwwwwesommmmmmme
Definitely the best outlet mall in California, by far. When I came here man it was really crowded. They were just opening the True Religion store and there was a line to get in, come on now.
But they do have some great stores. I wasn't impressed with Dior, everything in there was absolute garbage, but others like Diane Von Furstenburg, Elie Tahari, Michael Kors weren't bad.
I visited here on my way back home from Palm Desert, it is basically in the middle of the desert but worth they visit if your traveling through.
Seriously...Black Friday does not get any crazier than it was last night here.
They opened at 12 am last night and we thought were ahead of the curve getting there half an hour early. Not so much.
Run down:
Diesel: 30 minute wait for the dressing room. 45 minute wait to check out. Sale: INCREDIBLE. So much was marked down to 30-75% off PLUS 20% off your entire purchase. The shoppers there were pretty hardcore. This dude fell into a shelf and tore his forehead open and was gushing blood everywhere and just band-aided it up and kept shopping. We got there at 1130, got in at 12 and left at 245. At that time, there were still about 300 or so people in line to get into Diesel.
True Religion: Not that serious. They werent even having a great sale and the line for them was about 500 people long. $99 jeans and buy one get one half off tshirts that you get at Nordstrom Rack for $25. Skip.
Coach: Had the CRAZIEST line ever. At 3 am the line was well over 1000 people. I cant remember what their sale was but it definitely wasnt that awesome.
Banana and Tommy were half off entire store but lines were to stupid to even bother for one work polo shirt.
Juicy had 30% off track suits but their line stretched to Calvin Klein which we couldnt see with our naked eye so we nixed that.
Overall it was a great adventure and great insight into what we will be doing next year.
I would have liked to see more Americans but I forget only Asians have money and dress nice so that explains it.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Avoid in summer. It all costs. Avoid in heat.
Amazing stores. Great sales. A beautiful Burberry Outlet store (always full of asians). Coach. A great Ralph Lauren store.
Came to this section of an outlet after being next door(Cabazon Outlets).
If your a shopaholic, guess what, this is for you,i came along since i was heading back to L.A. from AZ. and it was cool, i was just there to support my friend, she wanted to see some deals.
Guess what,I came out paying for it, got the following:
Perry Ellis Weekender Bag
Wilsons Leather P-Coat
Sunglass Hut Revo Glasses.
And i was the one being supportive, duh, all and all, pretty good deals i cannot pass up.
Stop by, where else can you walk for 4 blocks and find everything you wish to buy!
Will visit again
I live in Temecula, so I drive out and frequent this mall a lot.
They've got a lot of great stores, and I always find something.
I love Juicy Couture, especially since it changed locations, the store is so bright and fun! J.crew is okay for some basics, or shorts with applique'd lobsters (why you'd want that, I don't know), BCBG is amazing, and always has racks of super-marked down dresses, and True religion has great sales on irregulars.
I wouldn't venture into Armani Express, it smells like a petting zoo, and is packed with faux-hawked men. Also Bebe is trashy.
My biggest complaint is the lack of anything else out there, seriously, don't go shopping hungry, the only food places around are a McDonalds, and the sketchy places in the food court (but that's a gamble).
Also, what's with the Dooney & Bourke located in back of the stores where the deliveries are dropped?
On the plus side, it's a couple minutes from Morongo and the dinosaurs!!! (but that's it, haha)
OK...so this is the retail version of Disneyland- tons o'people, tons o'places & you need a map, IF you're not a seasoned-visiting shopper such as myself.
Regardless of all this previously mentioned hoopla, it's still well worth the trek & 'struggle' in my eyes.
I've been known to find some sick deals on Prada shoes & accessories (I'll even venture to say that it's only outlet rival is the one I visited outside of Florence). Severely low-priced Gucci bags. Sweeeet deals on my Hugo Boss & Emporio Armani suits.
Do not judge- Iz work hard for my money.
Two Words.
Gucci. Outlet.
WARNING: This review is pretty bias because I was already in a horrendous mood before I got to the outlet.
Original plan: Wake up at the early hour of 4 o' clock in the morning to pull off a shopping spree on Black Friday.
Final plan: Go to Cabazon and shop till I drop at midnight.
Let me tell you. I NEVER stay up all night because I just can't handle it. But when my friend asked me if I wanted to go to Desert Hills at midnight with her and her other friends for the Moonlight Sale, I couldn't say no. I wanted to do something "exciting" like stay up all night and shop. Bad idea. ESPECIALLY on Thanksgiving Day.
It took a decent amount of time for us to get there (a little over an hour) until we hit MAJOR traffic about five miles to Cabazon. Yep, EVERYBODY was going there. We weren't anticipating that at all considering we thought we were the only "crazies" that would go shopping at midnight. Not so much. We ended up wasting another hour just trying to get off the stupid freeway and find parking. We ended up just parking at Morongo and walking over.
Dude, it was crowded. No joke. I hate being around huge crowds of people, so I booked it to a different part of the outlet while my ever so diligent friend stood in line for her coveted items at Coach. Yes, there were lines to get into the stores. Not all of them, but of course the really popular ones like Coach, Juicy Couture, True Religion, etc.
I was feeling slightly faint for I was hungry, but the food court didn't offer anything that sounded remotely decent. FYI: The food court is very small. Dinky. So if you're a picky eater, bring your own food because there's not a whole lot of choices there.
I wandered about for about two hours until we had to leave, and I ended up buying Naturalizer shoes for about $21. Originally, they were $75 so it was a steal. The thing is, I don't think the sales were as great as I had thought they would be because they were only like 40% off in a lot of the stores. It seems like the sales wouldn't be as great were it not for Thanksgiving.
Dealing with the previously mentioned factors listed in the beginning, I swore to myself that I would never come to Cabazon again, but then that's not really fair because it wasn't the outlet's fault that I was in a bad mood.
I would like to go back someday because I felt like I didn't see everything and I do wanna give this place another chance. Hopefully I'll be in a better mood next time ;)
P.S. Be careful and grab your stuff while you can. People can be very mean. My friend got into a verbal fight with some other chicks so just watch yourself.
Okay, so it's better than most outlets. With a Gucci, Dior being my fave's. Seriously, it's a drive. There's no way around that. But it can be worth it. My philosophy is, if you're planning to go to these outlets. Arrive before noon. Otherwise, it's pointless. Oh...and have a game plan. Know where you're going to go.
Seriously, things like the "labor day weekend" sale is really the same sale that they have the week before. So it's sometimes nice to beat the rush if you just go the previous weekend. It's what I 'try' to do.
For some reason, I find myself here every other week. Maybe because its 20 minutes from me and I always find deals. I usally have certain stores that I go to because its a long walk if you go there to window shop. This place is huge with a lot of high end stores and you call always find a sale or two. I agree the food courts could be better. But I always leave this place with a bag or two.
Meh. I've experienced better. The camarillo outlets are so much better!! This place really isn't worth the drive. They don't have a whole lot of impressive stores if you're a guy. I personally have never bought anything more than a couple polo shirts here from lacoste....
If you're passing by, like on the way to morongo or palm springs then sure, stop here for a little while and look around. But don't go planning a trip.... the cost of gas negates any savings you'll encounter anyways...
This has got to be the BEST OUTLET I've ever been to. For one, its really two outlets connected right next to each other. There is an east and west wing which each has has enough stores to be an entire outlet on its own. It has every designer store that I can think of.
For starter, here is just the list of the stores that are of interest to me (It's virtually impossible to hit every single store): A|X Armani Exchange, Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, BCBG Max Azria, Bebe, Burberry, Calvin Klein, Coach, Diesel, Dior, DKNY, Dolce & Gabbana, Elie Tahari, Gap, Giorgio Armani, Gucci, Guess, J.Crew, Juicy Couture, Kenneth Cole, Lacoste, Liz Claiborne, Michael Kors, Prada, Rock & Republic, Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th, Salvatore Ferragamo, and True Religion.
Some of the best 50% off deals I've gotten here include a pink Dior saddle handbag, Gucci handbag, Movado watch (w/ diamonds), and a BCBG down coat.
