On our 5 day of vacationing in Palm Springs we thought we had just about seen and done it all---until we heard about the "Red Jeep Tours".  Wow....what an adventure that turned out to be!  With our expert guide, we were able to get up close and personal to the San Andreas Faultine; to touch, see, feel and even taste how it has shaped the entire Coachella Valley!

My wife and I did the Summer Nightwatch (Stargazing) Tour and had a great time. Our guide was Tom who was always cracking jokes while simultaneously spewing knowledge of fault zones, tectonic plates, Indian tribes and geographical history of the area. Tom met our group at the pick-up area and then we all hopped in the jeep and started the tour. We went to areas of the San Andreas fault zone and saw small desert oasis', streams of water flowing in the middle of nowhere and the company even recreated an old indian village as well as an old western town. We would spend 30-50min in each area, then hop back in the jeep and cruise to another area to explore. The night ended with a short course in astronomy by which Tom used a device that when you point it towards a particular star, the machine will talk about that star for a minute or two; very cool! All-in-all, we had a great time and would recommend the tour to everyone. Even thought I grew up in the area and always saw the characteristic red jeeps in town, it wasn't until now that I took the tour and wished I'd done it sooner. And Tom, thanks for the marital advice!
