NYC Parks playground named after leaders in the NYC Italian-American community, John & Louis DeSalvio (father & son).

The city acquired this property in 1954.  The playground opened in December of 1955.  It underwent a $298,000 renovation in 1995 and features modular play equipment in red, white & green (appropriate!)

This is a great playground for kids because of the jungle gym...but I personally find it to be kind of depressing especially in the winter and summertimes when it's usually very empty.  Maybe it's the area.  It's always a bit dull/depressing around Mulberry/Spring streets.
