I remembered this restaurant being better than it was. Four of us went there for lunch. One started off with a basic salad and three of us with soup. I was told the clam chower was good ( I skipped it because it has bacon in it). The Cream of Tomato with BasiI - worth going there for it alone! I asked for the recipe but no such luck! I got the Garden Sandwich - and had the best lunch of all of us - what does that tell you? Two had the halibut burger, 2 small pieces of deep fried haibut on a bun. 2 stars. Really puny amount of fish. My partner was going to order the turkey sandwich but changed her mind after finding out it was deli turkey. Mind you, they have real turkey for supper - but for lunch - the thin sliced deli stuff. Go figure. So she got the Cashew Chicken, and regretted it!  It came covered in cashews and looked attractive but went downhill from there. Tough, really tough - one shouldn't have to use a knife to cut a decent chicken breast. No flavor. The waitress brought her some pina colada sauce which didn't help because it wasn't very good either.
The iced tea was good and the service was good.
The pie was, of couse, wonderful! The triple layer lemon and the raspberry - both very good.
Next time - I'd get the soup and pie!

Come for the soup.  Stay for the pie.

Pulling up the this restaurant - I thought to myself, "this is either going to be fantastic or horrible - no middle ground".  I was right, it IS fantastic.

A very stereotypical diner waitress took my order (apron, extra hairspray, and bright pink lipstick with an aptitude for calling me honey).  They have a "Martha" special which includes your choice of soup/salad, sandwich, and a slice of pie.

I opted for the clam chowder (homemade with plenty of cream and clams), tuna sandwich (decent - but nothing special), and pie.

My dining companion had the vegetable beef soup which did not come from a can, a sandwich, and pie.

We split a piece of both raspberry Devonshire and triple lemon.  This was a life changing experience.  We've talked several times since we were there, during each conversation one of us brings up, "the pie".  We both bake.  We could not make pie this good.  There were probably fifteen varieties ranging from normal (apple, peach) to interesting, (peanut butter cup, chocolate cream, etc...).

I haven't yet been for breakfast - but I'd guess that it is equally great.  The pancakes are homemade.

Decor is folksy country and the other patrons are old.  But the pie is AMAZING.
