Update: I went back there today for a short deep tissue massage and it was great; it was a good thing I didn't have to drive right after that.  Brenda even remembered me from my last visit.
I also got my hair cut after my massage.  I think it was Patty who did the work and I think it looks fabulous!  She was very nice to make sure I wasn't going to have a melt down to cut off over 5 inches of hair.

You can put tip on your credit card.
There is street parking and a parking lot nearby.  I have only parked on the street; there is unlimited parking limit  and 50 cents per hour.

I don't have any other spa experience to compare this to, but I had a very nice time there.  Two friends of mine and I went there for facials and massages.  They were great at accommodating us.  Brenda gave a very relaxing massage, but next time I will get a deep tissue one instead of swedish since some of the knots didn't get worked out in my back.  The facial was also super relaxing (and I got a free parafin wax thing for my hands - so nice!) and Nikki was very helpful about how to take care of my oily skin.  The rooms were private; they gave me a super soft robe to wear, too.

Both Nicoles worked on my airbrush tans last year when I needed some color for a wedding, my bachelorette party in Vegas and even on my own wedding. Prices are very reasonable and I'd come back here again. It's less one star from a perfect 5 because of the street parking.

Maybe they're better now, but this is the only spa I've walked out of.  I scheduled a massage, and the guy was so bad that about 15 minutes into the massage I said it wasn't working, and I was leaving. I paid and left because I didn't want to fight with the guy.

For one thing, he was all sweaty and smelled horrible.  But the worst thing was he would not listen to what I said. So when I said that he was hurting me, and that the way he was massaging me wasn't working, a bunch of times, he didn't change what he was doing and instead just kind of got mad. He kept sort of snorting in derision and saying that other people liked it. Well, I didn't!

I didn't think he was a real massage therapist at all. Don't know what was going on. Maybe their usual person was sick and they hired the worst temp ever.  So, maybe their other people are great. Just don't go to that one big sweaty ham-handed guy with the black mustache.

I've been to several spa's and have had facials and waxing, hair color, and massages. DermaBella is the best, the owner and staff make you feel like you are their most important client and you don't leave there unless you are feeling fantastic and looking great!  Do I recommend ? Most definitely!!  You could not find a better spa anywhere else.

I went in to this spa just recently; prices are very competitive, service is great and their MD is very friendly and sets you at ease.  Great place and I recommend it!

Update 10/6/2007: I went back for a cut yesterday and I am still as happy as ever with Lupe's work! 8 months had passed and my cut from February grew out beautifully. My hair was getting too long though and I wanted to shorten it up a bit. I had also cut straight bangs in back in May and I'm in the process of growing them out. Lupe took my hair up about 3-4 inches and took some of the heaviness out of the bangs so they'll blend in nicely as they grow out. $50 for the cut, not including tip.

----------------------------------------------

I had a color and cut with Lupe at Derma Bella back in February 2007. The shop appears to be geared more towards their spa treatments, with the hair salon portion consisting of two cutting stations and one rinse-out sink.

Lupe took a few minutes before getting started to ask me what I would like done, as well as how much time I spend on my hair and what I do in terms of everyday styling. I had brought in a magazine picture of the cut I wanted and she was able to replicate the cut very closely, while still adapting it to fit my face shape. I was very happy with the color and cut ($120 for both, tip not included) and will defnitely go back.

Metered street parking is available in front, and there is also a city parking lot about a half block away ($.25/hour in the lot). My appointment took about an hour and a half.

Three months later, my cut is still in great shape. No awkward grow-out phase and it will probably be good for a couple more month (I have a long, layered cut).

I've done the laser hair removal, waxing - both brow and bikini and facials.  All of which were thoroughly enjoyable and pleasant.  Not uncompromisingly rough or uncomfortable like I've found with other places.  This spa was recommend to me by a friend who really likes the detail to personal attention they pay, and you know what - I noticed it.  Nicole, the owner, even remembered my last waxing was for a special occasion and asked if I was traveling again - that was cute.

Plus, this Spa is very private, you get your own room for every and anything, ideal if your being poked and prodded and would prefer to not be red and puffy in front of the entire place while your waiting to pay.

I even believe I almost accidentally fell asleep.

As far as the "deep-tissue" massage, to be honest dude below - it's supposed to hurt a little, but if you don't provide your masseuse with any feedback or yell aloud, how is he to know whether your enjoying yourself.  Plus, I know for a fact he could not have been beating and bruising you - he's a trained professional and your obviously an anemic.  You should have let the proper people know of your problem and not just sat around and cried about it later.  Buck-up son!

I would highly recommend this spa to everyone - it's not super overpriced like every other spa I used to go to (hmmmm La Belle Day Spa) and they have absolutely everything you could need.

Thanks ladies, will return.

Update:  I received an email from the owner a few weeks ago.  She was very apologetic for my poor experience and said that Troy was no longer associated with the salon.  She invited me back in, but I have moved to Mountain View since my birthday bruising and don't really want to schlep all the way up to Redwood City.  However, I am upping my previous review by a couple stars, as they have taken steps to remedy the situation and have shown good concern for the customer by following up with me.

Original Post:  I was given a gift certificate for a deep-tissue message to be taken on my birthday.  I was impressed with the small spa upon arriving.  That was the last pleasant part of the morning.  The message was given by Troy, who was exceptionally rough.  When I got home and got out the shower, my girlfriend was horrified to see that my back had a lot of bruising.  I don't know about any of the other personnel, but I will not be going back.

I will say straight off that the only thing I've ever done here is the airbrush tanning. But for this, they are stellar. Nicole Ortega, the owner, did my first session. I was trying to see if it would work for my wedding since I'm a pale girl and I stay out of the sun. This is not for the modest. I stood there in paper panties and nothing else while Nicole got up close and personal and custom shaded my entire body with the color she mixed up per my request. I did a medium color and afterwards I was pretty sticky and looked BROWN. One color brown everywhere thanks to the tinted formula. About 8 hours later I showered off and all that brown went down the drain. I was GOLDEN! Perfect perfect, lasted about a week give or take. I did not experience any rub-off especially checked the nude bra I wore. This was my concern for the wedding. I went back two days before the wedding and had it done again. In all my wedding pics I look healthy and golden, just as I wanted. It's $50 for the service, $100 if you want a body scrub first. I did my own scrub at home. Well worth it for a special event, I wouldn't make this a regular habit.
