As if buying our first place wasn't already expensive/complicated/daunting enough, my fiance and I finally came to the ugly realization that we had to find an agent as well.  And just like *that* we suddenly had referrals up the yin yang!  I went ahead and screened several real estate agents, and talked to a few at open houses - and immediately ruled them out for being (a.) too fake, (b.) too obviously money-grubbin', and (c.) too desperate, and hence, more interested in their own needs and not ours.  Plus, I HATE high pressure sales.  

So we took a chance and decided to meet with Donna Sullivan at Hill & Co. - based on the facts that she was very highly recommended....and a Red Sox fan.  Well, she and my man hit it off so well, 80% of our conversation was dedicated to this very topic (ugh. Go Yanks). The woman was cool AND definitely knew her stuff BUT, she already had her hands full, so she gently passed us along to Derek.  At first we chalked it up to just another agent SCAM.....but WAIT........To our relief, Derek was not only approachable, extremely knowledgeable, and willing to answer EVERY one of our stupid questions about TICs, condo conversion, inspections, etc., but he did not fit into any of the aforementioned criteria (a. though c.) above.  We were amazed at his honesty, patience, and up-front attitude.

Moreover, Derek was available to meet with us at odd days/hours, completely open to harassing/negotiating with others (selling agent, mortgage brokers, other prospective buyers, and the like) on our behalf when we needed him to, and totally willing to put up with my fiance's (many, many, many) non-house-hunting tangents.  AND (here's the biggest plus) - he's NORMAL.  Just a music-lovin', condo-ownin', scooter-ridin' guy, who is also a kick-a** agent, and probably one of the very few who can actually sleep at night.  

Our apartment is the envy of all our renter friends, and my parents continue to gush, gush, gush about the place - and we got it at what we feel is a great price, and without any headaches, hiccups, or regrets.  YOU'RE THE BEST D-ROCK!!
