Review from Jen W.
The Come Home for the Holidays concert was a wonderful mix of old, new and diverse music. 130 plus men dapper and handsome in tuxedos added to the festiveness of the show.
The evening started with a Ghanaian folksong with amazing drumming, an e.e. poem - i carry your heart with me, an almost rap-like Run to the Manger, a haunting mash-up of Lo, How a Rose/ The Rose and wrapped with an uplifting From This House. A bonus carol sing along really got us into the holiday spirit and at the end the joy was palpable.
The most poignant moment of the evening came when a thank you note from a grade schooler was read - a note written during a recent visit, by the DGMC, to a school to perform as part of a platform to discuss bullying and tolerance. This student J.J. had insight, wisdom and kindness way beyond their young years and the words were incredibly impactful. There were more then a few tears shed during this moment including my own. -

Throughout the years I have had various occasions to see the Gay Men's Chorus. They are everywhere indeed in the metro area, typically at events such as Pridefest. My most recent listening of them was when comedian Margaret Cho had a show in Denver this past fall and had the Chorus show up briefly during her show to sing a song with her. The Chorus comprises of very talented individuals and are wonderful to listen to for any occasion!
