Thank you Yelpers for this recommendation.

I had not been to a dentist in two years because a) I had a lapse in insurance and b) I hate the dentist.  With a white hot burning rage.  A bad root canal will do that to you.

I went in for my first appointment this week and was impressed.  The cleaning went well and the treatment plan that they laid out to deal with some old failing fillings (no new problems, thank goodness) was reasonable.

I am always a little skeptical of dentists and their recommendations.  However, the doctor here took digital photos of the two teeth in question with this great little camera, then took me into a room with a large LCD computer screen and showed me where the problems were.   There was no doubting that was she was recommending was appropriate AND necessary.

The office is clean and pleasantly appointed.  The technology is pretty up-todate and wisely employed.  Everything was explained to me in a manner that I can understand.  There are alternative payment options for more expensive procedures but, if you choose to pay up front, there is a discount.

I have never had an experience at a dentist's office that inspired so much confidence in the providers.

Visit 1.  A cleaning with Dr Platson.  Easy peesy!  I love how my insurance was run before my visit = NO copay!  Dr Platson noticed two cavities and showed them to me via photographs on a large computer screen after my cleaning.  We decided to fix those and my 1 missing filling in visit #2.

Once again...
Easy peesy!  I LOVE how I left visit #1 with an estimate of my out of pocket costs.  I paid before getting into the chair for my fillings.  The charges were just as expected.

Dr Plaxton and Katrina got me nice and numb with lots of coconut flavored numbing gel.  A few shots of Novocaine, a 10 minute read through Time Out, and we were off and running.  Dr Platson even took the time to 'shave' a bit off my front tooth to make it even.  Something that has bothered me for a LONG time!  Both she and Katrina were terrific.  They make a great team!

Dr Platson and Dental Salon are definitely my new dental destination. I definitely recommend them!

I went to Dental Salon because I broke a molar and wanted to get it taken care of quickly. They were very accomodating when I called for an appointment. I told the woman on the phone that in addition to the tooth problem I was terrified of thedentist. She reassured me that they have dentists who work well with fearful patients.

The front desk staff were very polite and friendly. I barely had time to take off my jacket before they were ready to complete my initial information. After that, I was seen within another 5 minutes. I had been expecting at least a 20 minute wait.

I met with Dr. Platson and her assistant Katie. They immediately offered assurance that we would take things slowly and that Dr. Platson let me know that she understood I was quite fearful. She explained what she would do to help her diagnose and determine a treatment plan. She offered several options for treatment and the pros and cons for each option. I was offered several financial options to make the cost less of a burden...this was quite important as I do not currently have insurance.

I was told that I in no way needed to start treatment the same day but could wait a week or so if need be. I chose to start anyway. Dr. Platson was verry careful and gentle throughout the work on my mouth. She frequently checked in with how I was feeling as we proceeded.

I still do not like going to the dentist but...for the first time in years I left a dentist's office without any tears! I was quite impressed with their timeliness, presentation of options, thoroughness, and with their gentleness and compassion.

Why not 5 stars? Only because I do not know what the other dentists in that office are like.

Had a great experience. Needed 3 fillings replaced and they were done with no problems. I have a lot of anxiety when it comes to the dentist, but the Dr. did everything to keep me calm.

I would definitely recommend them to anyone that needs a dentist.

Great ambiance.

God.  This is turning into something i wish it didnt.  I am starting to agree with a post i saw a while back about being able to yelp freely without business owners having the ability to sabre rattle someone.

i mean, again...having private emails about what went down with my second opinion and thinking everything was over with....i get called out again in public

the dentist i saw yesterday didnt want the x-rays from the dental salon because they wanted to formulate their own opinion and not have something already in their heads.  which i think is a very smart way to go.

Im so tired of you throwing my wife into this.  I just instructed her not to go back in to see you guys anymore.  I dont need this kind of attention, and its like you are acting like a 5 year old guilt tripping me by using my wife.

im glad you agree with what your dentist diagnosed.  Should not be surprised, you are protecting your employees...and that is fine, but I believe they were wrong, and i went out to find out if they were

so, its fine.  good luck with your business.   Dont private message me anymore because obviously even though you are prentending to be nice you cant let it die and feel the need to take your ball and go home.

Yet another reason why this business should (and has been) reported to the better business bureau. Commenting on another patient's medical procedures, records, and insurance on a public forum is violating patient confidentiality. How unprofessional, if it is not illegal, it is certainly close to it.

8/23/2009: Not sure how many times you can update, so taking the lazy approach and editing. Funny how the owner keeps trolling their listing to harass those that leave negative feedback. As for continually leaving feedback, I think you may be huffing too much nitrous oxide. I am simply responding to YOUR messages you keep leaving like a scorned ex . FYI, BBB probably won't post till Monday, please keep checking :D

***You can do what you like with your receptionist, my negative review stands. It's not only about the lack of competent scheduling, it is also the horrendous customer service and apparently from others, improper insurance billing practices, bad dentistry, and violating patient confidentiality by posting personal information on this site. Instead of getting into a flame war on the internet, perhaps you should concentrate on running a better business before someone tries to sue.

A little too commercial for me (i.e. about the money, not the people), but they do excellent work and the office is so clean. They took my stitches out after I had my wisdom teeth pulled and I didn't even feel the pain.... great job!!!!!!! Dr. Cha in wicker park is cheaper and more personable, but they still get an A for effort!

I must say, I've only been to Dental Salon once. I was out with friends for the night and ended up chipping a tooth quite severely. There was only about 1/4 of it left, and it was right in the front, on the bottom.

Called my parents for a recommendation. They told me to find anyone that was still open at 11am on a Saturday. There was NO way I could wait until Monday to have it fixed. I was basically crying in pain already.

Saw Dr. Desai a half-hour after calling, who said she could either try to patch it with filler or put a crown on it. I debated both ($400 or $800 cost), since I have no dental insurance, and eventually went with the crown. I got a discount too for paying in full right away. Hooray!

The work was good - my nerve was QUITE aggravated and they had to keep giving me shots to numb the area. Eventually, after a few tears, the area was ready and the temp crown was fit brilliantly.

Two weeks later (or some time-frame like that) I went back for the actual crown. It's awesome and matches really well. My parents couldn't tell which tooth had been fixed. My only concern is that my front teeth have shifted slightly (they were always perfectly aligned before- with no braces!), but I'm the only one who seems to notice.

Maybe when I get dental insurance or save up a bit I'll be back for a routine cleaning and whatnot. I try to stay on top of these kind of things no matter what my financial situation.

I LOVE MY TEETH!

A co-worker recommended the Dental Salon to me, and, I, unlike so many others on the site, am glad she did. I went to the Dental Salon after work one day, and it was pretty easy to find. It's right on the corner of Sheffield and North Ave. Shame, I have no idea what doctor saw me, but he was pretty cool.

What I enjoy about the Dental Salon, is its Salon feel. It's extremely clean and bright. It doesn't feel like a dingy dentist's office. I also found the receptionist to be cool (some say they are idiots). I was about a year or so overdue for a cleaning, so I went here, for that only. Some folks are scared of the dentist, and i think they're customer service helps with that. I have very healthy teeth, and they told me that. My x-rays were fine and all that jazz. It didn't take more than an hour (I think) to get everything in order.

I'm actually shocked at some of these negative reviews on Yelp. Since I had a dream that I got a cavity that terrified me to death, I'm actually going to schedule another appt. for next month (3 months after my initial appt.).

I recommend the place. I don't see the issue with it. For those of you that might feel this is a fake review, feel free to read my other reviews.

Go to the Dental Salon!

Just got back from my first visit/cleaning with Dr. Weiss and Marek (assistant)
What a great experience!!!! I have been looking for a good dentist for several years. I have finally found a place where I look forward to come back to and refer all of my friends.
#1 - I was able to get an appointment with only 2 day notice (vs. one month in advance at my old dentist)
#2 Everyone was super pleasant and welcoming
#3 The office looks beautiful and very clean.
#4 Doctor Weiss performed majority of the cleaning himself.
#5 Marek, his assistant was very accommodating and made sure I was comfortable the entire time.
#6 They did not press me to do any teeth whitening procedures or to buy a $700 mouth guard (vs. my previous dentist)
Overall a great experience !! I highly recommend them !

I was very impressed with the Dental Salon.  I had a cleaning & check-up with Dr. Trupti Desai and she was very professional and went out of her way to make me feel comfortable with her and answer all questions I had.

The dental hygienist took x-rays and digital photos of my mouth.  Both of these procedures were done quickly & professionally, and I was impressed that both were included in the basic visit cost (charged to my insurance).  At my old dentist, the x-rays were charged extra to the visit charges.

Front Office was also a breeze! There was a nice space to fill out my forms quietly - and at a desk! They also had a nice selection of magazines to peruse for the 90 seconds I waited between turning in my forms and having the dental hygienist come find me.

Overall, everyone was very professional and friendly, and I got through my visit painlessly and quickly, and I feel that it was more complete than visits I've had with other dentists in the past.

Dr. Mark-

Thank you and Dr. Desai for understanding my point of view.  It means more to me than you will ever know.  I have been very pleased with the services and it would have broke my heart to have to leave.  And now I do not have to.  Look for a Thank You card in the mail.  I appreciate the prompt response to this matter and now feel free to retract my first posting.

Again much, much thanks.

Not a fan of the dental salon. They want your business, and will invent dental issues for you if you have none. I went in for a cleaning. Left feeling icky. Saw Dr. Desai. She initially congratulated me on being cavity free. We went over my xrays and she pointed out what healthy teeth I had. We discussed my OCD daily flossing and brushing rituals.

After Dr. Desai had stashed my x-rays somewhere, someone came in and told her that I had a shadow on one of my teeth. Dr. Desai acted surprised and concerned and then announced that I would need to have some exploratory drilling done. The xrays that we had previously reviewed together could not be found.

Are there ethical boards for dentists? A second opinion said that my teeth were healthy and cavity free. Friends have had similar issues with other dentists, e.g. being told that they had twelve cavities, second opinion said two cavities; other phantom cavity diagnoses.

The owner wrote me a message on yelp almost immediately after I posted. I went through some other yelpers' comments. It is strange that people seem to either have had negative experiences or super positive experiences with The Dental Salon. And that so many of the super positive experience people have so few reviews on yelp.

Agree with others who have said that The Dental Salon should focus on improving their service. Clients will return if they do not feel like you are ripping them off and/or treating them poorly.

After searching for a dentist for quite sometime, I saw an ad about the Dental Salon that seemed to work with my crazy schedule. Since I work and am in Grad school full time, it doesn't leave me much time to go to the dentist during the week. Their hours are very flexible and they are even open on Saturdays and Sundays. The staff is very friendly and helpful.  The office is modern, clean and professional and very easy to access by car, bus, or the L.

I must say, Dr. Scott is one amazing dentist.  He is extremely nice and very thorough with his cleanings and checkups.  He is not a "stiff" dentist who comes in and only says hello then rams his fingers in your mouth and then leave once the procedure is done.  I don't expect pillow talk but since they will be seeing me slobber all over myself  for the next 45 minutes, I expect some conversation. He had no problem answering all of my questions or concerns. It was nice for a dentist to actually want to get to know his patient and follow up with me after a deep cleaning even if my face resembled a stroke victim for the next 4 hours due to the anesthesia. He's great and worth the 8am Sunday appointments.

My teeth and wallet have never felt better. They work with your schedule, budget and fears to make it the best dental experience.

I had to get a root canal, and the staff was very accomodating.  I'm sort of squeamish about seeing the dentist, and they put me at ease.  Dr. Desai has a deft touch, and I hardly felt the injection and was not in any discomfort in general.  Though I never want another root canal, I was more than pleased with Dr. Desai.

The facilities themselves are nice, clean and they have an array of magazines to pass the time.

Just went here gain today for my 6 month cleaning, and I'm still pleased as can be.  My regular dentist that I'd been seeing there for about 2 years has left, so I went with Dr. Morris- who assisted me with a crown before.  He's so kind and congenial, and asked about how I was doing in general.

While he was cleaning my teeth, he was asking me if I was ok, being gentle, did a couple precautionary checks for me on a tooth, which ended up being fine, and they sent me on my way.  I appreciate the service I get at Dental Salon and try to recommend them to all friends who are new to the city.  And the way they get everything done with my insurance is great too.

Dr. Scott is extremely professional, courteous and will walk you through potential treatments and actually listen to you prior to deciding the treatment(s) to undertake. For both my regular cleaning and filling appointments I didn't wait more than 5 minutes. I even got a follow up call to determine if my filling was feeling ok or if there were any issues - talk about someone who knows how to run their business!

The ambiance of the office space is perfect - pristine cleanliness (who wants to walk into a dirty dentists' office!!!) and chic decor. The location is convenient to the red line el as well as for driving (validated parking in the parking garage attached to the offices).

I also was a little skeptical after having been to another dentist in Chicago and hating it (I moved from Ohio 4 years ago and had yet to find a good dentist). I was so pleasantly surprised when I visited Dental Salon - My friend recommended Dr. Scott and Dental Salon and my husband and I couldn't be more pleased. I would definitely recommend this dentist to family and close friends - who can say that about their dentist (as far as I know, not many people since I have been asking for referrals for a couple years now!).

I have NO IDEA how this place has such a good rating. Here's what I found wrong with this place.
1) Overpriced
2) In three visits I saw four different doctors so I couldn't build a trusting relationship and only one of them acted like she knew what she was doing
3) Their "salon feel" is a farce. It's not soothing or comforting to be here. And they DON'T work well with anyone who is scared of the dentist (like I am). To them, "salon feel" means that everyone can see in your room and they're totally disorganized.

Now, on to my horror story:
First, I went here for cleaning. It was fine but a little rough. It took about two days for my gums to heal from having floss threaded through my teeth by a guy who would be more suited for a lumberjack competition than for cleaning sensitive teeth.

After my cleaning I was told I had three cavities and needed fillings for two of them and a half crown on one. The fillings went smoothly, although two years later they're still very sensitive to hot and cold. But, when I came back to get the crown put on, they had chipped the crown and couldn't get the gummy filler back in. I now had a gaping hole in my back tooth and they gave me two choices.

a) Wait another two weeks for a crown to arrive, which would mean another two weeks of sensitivity and the pain of putting the filler back in. I was in tears at this point and they don't use nitrous at this place, only shots that wear off quickly.

or

b) I could just have them put this crown on, and they would fill the chipped part with the same stuff they use to fill cavities.

I chose the latter because it was immediate. I should have waited, or gone somewhere else because not only can I not floss around that tooth anymore, it doesn't line up to my other back teeth, and half of it's not even the same color.

Did I mention I paid over $600 for the crown and fillings WITH INSURANCE???

I will never go back to this place. The worst part is, that after I left in tears, I continued to get emails from them trying to get me to make a follow up appointment.

I think I will report this place to the better business bureau.

I also received a passive-aggressive letter from Dental Salon, (same as Jason O), telling me I should seek dental care elsewhere. Hmm, ya think? Because I never intended to go back there anyway!

DEAR DENTAL SALON: STOP HARASSING ME. IF YOU CONTINUE TO HARASS ME I WILL GO TO THE POLICE.

Can I make that any clearer?

I would suggest, fellow yelpers, that you continue to FLAG every single fake review for this place. They are sickening.

I cannot believe that "doctors" would waste their time: 1. posting on yelp, 2. reading every single review on yelp, 3. looking up patient's charts based on their yelp reviews and then contacting them on yelp, and 4. telling patients they can no longer seek care there because they posted on yelp.

Hey Dental Salon - if you were so concerned about my review and the dental care I received (that you went and looked up my CHART) -- then why didn't you pick up a phone and call me? Instead you chose to harass me on here? And then send me another harassing letter?

Here's an idea: WHY DON'T YOU FOCUS ON THE CARE YOU PROVIDE, AND ON TREATING YOUR PATIENTS. And spend less time posting fake reviews and harassing people.

I first visited Dental Salon about 6 months ago when they were a fairly small office with a great view of Lincoln Park.  I had my x-rays, cleaning and check up.  The doctor I saw was very pleasant but, he's no longer on the website. At that time I would have given them 5 stars.  I even recommended my partner to go, and he did.

This most recent visit they have grown to another office across the hall way. (Good for them) However, the office has lost the small office feel and is taking on a corporate feel to it.

I've observed the last few hygienists must be right out of school because they are being hand held by the dentist as they clean my teeth and assist the doctor.  This makes me feel uneasy even if they didn't mess up at all. I'm sure they need a start somewhere, just not in my mouth.

I've found that their website says one thing about payment options but, it's another standard in the office.

They insisted on taking new x-rays in 6 months.  It could be an industry standard it could be them trying to charge me an extra 70 dollars? (IDK).   I am sure though, I don't want to be radiated that many times a year.  Plus, it's an added expense that I feel is unnecessary unless you have severe teeth issues or adolescent.

Overall, I can't really say it's a bad experience now. I just can't say it's great anymore.  Since I believe in giving a few chances to a business. Ill give them one more chance this summer and this posting is me letting them and you know about my experience.

So I guess I should have paid attention when checking the yelp score earlier and realized that most of the 5 star reviews are most likely fake. Anyways, my boyfriend went here and had a good experience but then again he hadn't been to a dentist in about 6 years and still ended up with no cavities. So based on his experience I booked my 6 month cleaning and check up.

The office was very nice and clean and their technology is impressive but the actually service is horrible. I've been to the same dentist in Omaha where I'm from my whole life and I loved him so I know what a good dentist is and what they do. This dentist was so far from that.

First of all they left me in a room with I think Planet Earth or something on the TV for about 40 minutes before someone came in and took my xrays. It was really creepy siting in a dentist's chair watching animals prey on each other. Also, that's a really long time to wait especially considering they have about 20 or more people on staff.

Anyways to make a long story short, I eventually saw the dentist who spent the entire time of my appointment talking about her weekend plans with the assistant, totally unprofessional. She told me I had 2 cavities, total shocker since I'd never had one before. So skip forward to next appointment to get cavities filled, I didn't believe her at first so I made her show me the problem teeth which I agreed, needed to be fixed. That appointment went fine she fixed my baby cavities with no Novocaine and I went on my way.

A week or so later after getting my filling I noticed my teeth hurt whenever I'd bite down so I made a follow up appointment to fix the problem. She ended up drilling down my tooth that didn't even have the filling in it so a couple days later my teeth still hurt. I went back again and she drilled on few more of my teeth which by the way don't feel even when I bite down now, but nothing you can do about that... My teeth still hurt when I bite down from time to time, something they never used to do. I totally regret taking my perfect smile to these frauds. I just wish my awesome dentist would move to Chicago so I'd have someone to go that I trust to fix what Dental Salon broke.

*update* finally found an amazing dentist on the northside, i highly recommend going here instead: http://www.yelp.com/bi... great job and doesn't harass you like members of the dental salon team do.

I moved to Chicago in August from Minneapolis whilst in the midst of some restorative and cosmetic dentistry, multiple procedures over the last year already. Before I moved here I started asking friends about where they go. 2 of 6 mentioned Dental Saloon and Dr. Jason Lipoff.

The place is space-age clean... think the waiting room of 2001 (with better furniture) a friendly staff, and Dr. Lipoff is very professional. Friendly, and great at explaining the option available to me. He's even contacted me in the off hours to update me on the status of an implant that was being made in the lab! That's incredible.

The only reason a star was lost had to do with the front desk area not getting back to me for a week after an appointment had to be canceled on their end, and I was told they'd be calling back to reschedule that day. Most likely an anomaly but if I didn't include it how valid would my review be?

Great office and excellent staff!  Dr. Morris is a righteous doc!  And Anne(the question gal) is definitely on her game.  I have started my procedures and all is great.  I would highly recommend checking these guys out for all your dental needs.  They have it all and they even have gas for those of you like me.... Scarred as hell of the dentist! ha!  anyway keep up the good work guys.

Dental Salon overview:
high prices (even with insurance)
rocky start with my first 2 visits with Dr. Morris
Dr. Desai = saving grace

My follow up with Dr. Desai last winter was waaaay better than I thought it would be. She was chatty (which distracted me from my nerves) and super friendly. She fixed the chip on my front tooth and it looks nice and natural. I was totally surprised because Dr. Morris' fix was clumsy and amateurish by comparison. Also he cut my gum severely during my appointment with him and nearly 6 months later, it still hasn't healed right.

I will share with you though, that Dr. Morris did e-mail me after my original negative review to offer an explanation for the things I wrote about. Now, I'm sure I must be on some "cranky patients to watch" list of his, because everyone at the office during my Dr. Desai appointment was sickeningly sweet. But if that's what it takes to get good service, so be it.

Anyway, I have a root canal looming on the horizon, but Dr. D is on vacation. They offered up another dentist, but I'm old-fashioned and tend to shy away from major mouth stuff with strangers. So, I think I'll wait 'til she gets back. Stay tuned.

In response to my post on Yelp, the Dental Salon did contact me about my experience.  While I'm not jazzed that I had to have a bad experience to hear back from them, I'm super pleased that they took the time and effort to follow up again, and issued me a refund for the services I was given.  I worked with someone on their team to set this up, and she was very pleasant and easy to work with.

I have never had a business respond to my comments in such a manner, so I do think this speaks a lot about the caliber of business that they are trying to run.

I'm not saying that I'll be back, but I would believe that my case was a bit of a fluke.

This is by far the best dentist I have ever been to.  My wife and 2 friends I have referred all agree.  I read some of the negative posts and can not believe it is the same place, perhaps I have not experienced the same people on my vists.

Every visit during the last 3 years has been professional and I have never had to wait to be seen nor has the appointment run longer than expected.

I was recently referred to Dental Salon by a friend after having many a horrific dentist experience over the past year (see Kimberly Smiles reviews). Ive been to Dental Salon three times in the last few months and every visit has been above and beyond my expectations.  Dr. Gina Rotkovich is wonderful at keeping you informed and putting together a dental plan that works for your schedule. (i.e. getting four fillings done in one long appt vs. coming back for multiple visits)  I was nothing short of amazed when, after my cleaning, she sat down with me and went over all of my ex-rays, showed me her treatment plan, and answered all of my questions even though it was late and I was the last appt of the evening.

All of the assistants are wonderful as well, I had Jeremy working with Dr.Rotkovich on my last visit...he was extremely patient and helped to calm my drill anxiety!

Dental Salon is outstanding by every measure, from scheduling appointments/hours, to staff & even the amazing views of the city. I highly recommend them to everyone (even my last dentist, maybe she can get some tips)

Whatever...
If I want to go to a 'spa-like atmosphere' I 'll go to a spa.
Yes the office is nice and has a nice view blah, blah, blah. Go up 8 floors anywhere in Chicago and there is a nice view.
This place is just OK for cleanings and fillings. I've been here 3 times and it really was not that great. I did not care for Dr Desai, she struck me as a new grad from dental school.
I'll give it one star because of the friendly front office staff and the dental assistants. The office is clean and the parking works out well too.

I also want to say that I agree with previous reviewer about the filler reviews. What are they doing monitoring Yelp pages if they are so great????
Very suspicious with all of the 5 stars by one review people....

Well, my reconstruction is complete and my teeth look better than ever!  I couldn't be more pleased.  They look so good that I'm a little glad that I knocked a couple out- well except the pain and worry involved in being in an accident.  They are straight and white and pretty.  Yeh!  Go to Dental Salon!

These folks are professional and really make the whole dental experience a good one. This last time around, I met with Dr. Scott Overholser and Ola was my assistant. My cleaning was super pain free and i felt like a million bucks afterwards, kinda like a great haircut! The staff was super pro and checked me in when my appt was schedualed. they also give you a quote with your insurance coverage included. Ow, and the office looks super mod and not like your grandparent's dentist. Go hear and you'll be happy!

I decided to come here after seeing the good reviews from yelp and was excited that it was also part of my insurance plan.  I went in and waited about 10 minutes to get called back, not too bad.  After the assistant took my pictures and xrays, Dr. Morris came in and I agree with all of the reviews of him, he's definitely a little awkward to talk to.  Procedure-wise, I think everything was fine, just the interaction with him is making the 4 stars go down to 3- and even that is pretty generous.  Also, after my cleaning, I was taken to a consultation room where Dr. Morris came in to show me my pictures and xrays.  He dumbed everything down and talked to me as if I was 7 years old.  He brought up my pictures and pointed and showed me what my teeth, gums, and tongue look like.  uh DUH.  I know know what my mouth looks like.  I understand when doctors try not to use technical/medical terms and try to use language that the patient will understand, but I did not appreciate being spoken to as if I didn't know what teeth look like.
I would give Dr. Morris a 2
Dental Salon a 3 and I would possible come here again and give it a second chance, but would definitely see a different doctor.
Sorry Dr. Morris if you're reading this and please don't try contacting me.

Ok, still 5 stars, even though I should have edited my review a long time ago. Phillip Palella, DDS is my dentist, and all I have to say is that he is very kind an compassionate.  He takes the time to explain everything to you, and also really takes pride in the work that he does!

I have Yelp to thank for this!  :)

Making that first appointment at the Dental Salon was probably about the best thing I've done for myself in recent years.  My smile finally looks the way I've always wanted it to.  My teeth are healthy and beautiful now and it's thanks to Dr. Lipoff and the staff at Dental Salon.  It wasn't cheap, but it was worth it.

The best part was that it wasn't unpleasant in the least.  I'm still kind of in shock.  I would recommend the Dental Salon to anyone.

Had a personal email from the owner along with a public response from the owner about he situation. I do appreciate that they're able to take criticism and fix things. I was initially annoyed with his response and wanted to ignore them, but they have gone through a lot of trouble to make sure I acknowledge their work. Other unhappy Yelpers  have remarked upon receiving a "patient separation letter" from Dental Salon. I fully expected to receive the same. However, I have received biannual checkup reminders and Anna N. messaged me to make sure I was square on the moola situation. Am square now, actually scheduled with another dentist because I expected to get a "Dear John" letter. Gotta get clean ASAP, so I will keep the current appt. However, the fact that they are open 7 days a week (esp until 7 pm on weekdays) and are in my gym, I'll give them another shot after we've all forgotten about my wisdom teeth debacle.

I kind of randomly picked this place from a list my insurance company provided me. I dont regret it. They are friendly enough and I dont have the urge to cry before going or afterwards which had been my dental experiences in the past. I see Dr.Kumar and hes pretty cool and laid back. I had a cavity filled and it was no sweat. He reassured me I wasnt dying every step of the way.   If you wanna see something freaky go here for a microscopic "tour" of your mouth. Maybe my mouth was just freaky, but still its something you should see!

Edit 10/10/2007
*For office management reasons , I would definitely NOT recommend this office.

I recommend this place, but objectively.

Pros: Dental Salon is extremely accommodating with appointment times, parking, next day appointments for cleanings, etc., and my husband really likes Dr. Lipoff after doing routine cleanings and serious cavity work.

Cons: Until recently I saw Dr. Desai. At my first cleaning with her, I had a little more bleeding than usual but figured, who cares. Recently I went in for another routine cleaning after which my gums bleed for three days. I agree with previous reviewers that this seems to be a new-dentist problem, and that she is really nice. I am switching to another dentist with favorable reviews in the practice.

This place is very zen and spa like...very relaxing. The chair they have you sit in while they are doing work on you just molds to you. When I made my first appointment they emailed me my paperwork so when I arrived for my appointment I just walked in, handed over my paperwork and sat back and chilaxed. The dentist was great. She was fairly young and very friendly and chatty. I was concerned that I would have to have a root canal but luckily I just had to have a cavity filled and crown put on. They also offer Zoom treatments. I do plan on making this my regular dentist as it's right around the corner from where I work and the environment made me very relaxed which to me is very important...especially in a dentist's office.

Edit 1/10/08
Went in today after having a filling come out. They didn't do the filling but they were the first people I called. Well my husband was the first person I called so I could whine to him but he wasn't picking up. Anyhow...I called them second, they set up a time for me to come in the next day...which was today. I had to get an overlay...bummer. But the procedure went smoothly and again it's the most relaxing dentist office I've ever been in. They are just so friendly there...from the girls at the front desk to the dental assistant and dentists. So here I sit with my temp on and I've lived to tell another review. I'll be going back in two weeks to have my overlay put in and I know it will be a cake walk.

Changing my review from a 4 start to a.....5 star.

Thanks Dental Salon!

After having bad childhood and adult dental experiences, I was scared the first time I walked into Dr. Morris's office (literally gripping the dental chair arm rests). After being treated with such care and kindness, it's the only place I go for dental care. The setting is lovely and peaceful. the staff is kind and patient. The doctors (Drs. Morris and Liford) are attentive and knowledgeable, and do everything to make sure your visit is smooth and comfortable. They utilize the most recent dental technology and work well with my insurance company.

I recommend Dental Salon!
