It's hard to get excited about the dentist, but it's easy to give The Dental Salon a FIVE STAR REVIEW.
I feel like a real person there and not just a mouth. The facilities are modern and comfortable. The staff and my Dr. (Dr. Sheffield) are skilled, kind, and real people, too.
I highly recommend Dental Salon. -

JANE IS A ROCKSTAR and if at all possible, she deserves to wear a superhero
cape while at work. I have been going to Dental Salon for a number of years.
In fact, I go a number of times each year (over 5 to be exact). Time and time
again I am WOWED by how professional, accommodating, and informative the staff
is. In particular, Jane, who treated me like a long-time friend.
I cannot express enough how much I love Dental Salon and the staff. In
addition, how much I praise it to my friends and family. Thank you to all of
your staff for putting up with me. :) -

Another satisfying visit to Dental Salon!
Maria was great at cleaning my teeth, making sure I was comfortable. And Dr. Kunelis was great with me too. First time I met her, and she was super-friendly, and was helping me out since Dr. Scott was so tied up that day. I very much appreciated that they recognized that my time is very valuable (isn't everyone's?) , and they got me in and out very quickly, but they gave great service. That is EXACTLY why I adore Dental Salon, and refer friends!2 Previous Reviews: Show all »

Growing up, I had many frequent cavities. The dentist scared me then and continued o throughout my adult life. The Dental Salon is a breath of fresh air. Everything is new, making me confident I am getting the best care for my teeth, and the staff is so welcoming and warm. Instantly, I thought my dentist (Dr. Sheffield) and I could be friends. The hygienists are equally as kind. In addition, the dentists are professional and attentive. When I had to get two fillings (eek!) Dr. Sheffield calmed my anxieties (talking about Scramble on iPhone) and being sure to give me a little extra numbing medicine the second I thought I might be able to fill the drill. No one wants to get a filling, but Dr. Sheffield is the best to do it if you must :)

Just had another visit with Dr. Glud - - was great, as usual. The Hygenist was Laura this time and she was great. Laura has a great personality and made me feel totally at ease. From start to finish my experience at Dental Salon is always great. I never thought I'd be writing about the dentist visit this way :-) .

Great visit. Finally found a good dentist since my move to Chicago a year ago. Everyone I encountered at Dental Salon was polite, friendly, and helpful. No more putting off dentist visits! Dr. Shaw was great. I was glad too that they did not do a big push for whitening or other cosmetic procedures. If you have been putting off a dental check-up, call Dental Salon!

I've been working with Dental Salon over the past few months, planning out a lengthy list of much needed/long overdue work on my teeth, from fillings to extractions, you name it, I need it. It's going to be hella expensive, I don't have dental insurance, and I'm a college graduate with a full-time job getting by from paycheck to paycheck.
That being said, this place rocks. They printed out a detailed itinerary of what I needed done, how much each procedure would cost, and all kinds of photos of my gnarly teeth to take home with me as an ugly reminder of the urgency of my work. :P
I am not a fan of dentists, hence why I need so much work done (hadn't seen a dentist in over 7 years). Just the thought of the office and the chairs and the whizzing of the drills makes me want to barf. However, everyone at the salon, from the receptionists to the assistants to the doctors, are so incredibly friendly and very receptive to my hundreds of questions.
I just had two extractions done today (a bad, decayed tooth AND a wisdom tooth above it, yeah total fun times), so I am sitting here in bed as I write this with puffy cheeks and gauze in my mouth. I was dreading this day for weeks and as I sat in the dental chair waiting for my Novocain to set it, the assistant was chatting with me, giving me magazines, and generally getting my mind off the procedure. It took them all of 15 minutes and I couldn't believe they had taken two teeth out that I asked to see them because it was so quick and painless.
LONG story short, this place restored my faith in dentistry. I understand that not everyone will have good experiences everywhere, and I wouldn't dismiss anyones problems with this place, but I can't really say I've had any problems here.
note: I just called the salon about a bleeding question and the oral surgeon immediately called me back and chatted with me for a bit about it. Awesome!! -

I am very happy that I have chosen to come to Dental Salon. The entire staff is very friendly. My visit was painless and quick. Scheduling is always a breeze and the offices are inviting. Mariya is a great hygienist who is careful and gentile. My doctor, Dr. Kunelis is wonderful. She has a great sense of humor, is quick and makes you feel very comfortable! I recommend you to anyone I know!

Very quick for the services that were done - I feel very comfortable with Dr. Kunelis, more than any dentist I've ever had in the past. She was very informative with the previous consultation and she made sure I was comfortable during the services today. I was referred by a friend and I'm very happy with Dental Salon overall!

So I had a wisdom tooth coming in that was killing me and it had to go immediately. Dental Salon was the only place I could find open on a Sunday. I went in and Dr. Stec removed the tooth demon from my mouth. Dr. Stec then showed me what a decade of neglect has done to my teeth and what needs to be done to get my mouth healthy. I've been chipping away at it now since, and have been as happy as one could be with a dentist. I don't have dental coverage so I'm paying cash and find the rates reasonable. The office is nice, modern, clean, and the views outside are great from the 8th floor. I haven't been to a lot of dentists but this has been a great experience so far.

I have been a long time fan of the Dental Salon. In fact, in the 2 years I have been seeing them I have had just under $7,000 of work done. But it has been my recent experience with them that will force me to see another dentist.
They called me to let me know it was time for my cleaning so I set an appointment for 9/8/11. About a week before the appointment My wisdom tooth started to come in through my gum. My dentist had told me previously that it needed to be pulled eventually and I said I would deal with it when it was necessary. So I called and told them it was starting to come though and I wanted my Doctor to look at it when I came in for my cleaning. They told me no problem - my Doctor would look at it and tell me if she could extract it or an oral surgeon needed to do it.
So I show up for my appointment and go to the room with the hygienist. Before she does my cleaning I told her my Doctor needs to look at my wisdom tooth. She says the Doctor doesn't have time. I told her to find somebody else then as I am not coming back for a second appointment. She doesn't tell anybody that I need to see a dentist and does the cleaning. After the cleaning I ask her how long till a doctor comes and she doesn't know since she never asked anybody to come look at me. After about 10 minutes of her telling me there was no tooth there but she didn't know what was coming out of my gum (idiot) she finally went to find somebody. After another 20 minutes of waiting I just walked out. -

I have yet to find a regular dentist in Chicago, and this one might be it.
The place is super clean. The doctors are all very presentable and friendly. The dental assistant, Catrina, should become a 9-1-1 operator because she's a gem and can get anyone through 10 awkward x-rays with her warm spirit and hilarious commentary.

Dental Salon can refute my statements all they want, but I stand by my review 100%.
Yesterday I had to have a crown REDONE that Dental Salon screwed up. Crowns are supposed to last a lifetime and mine didn't last more than 3 years because of the horrible patch job they did when they put a chipped crown on my tooth.
My new dentist was appalled by their poor workmanship and thankfully I found a kind dentist because he talked me through everything and let me take breaks to calm down when I needed it. I was shaking like a leaf in fear of going through the same trauma I went through with Dental Salon. If you want to save yourself time, money and pain, stay away from this place.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Mom note: this place can accomodate a double stroller easily
Dr. Weisz:
It was hard to get an appointment right away with the kid dentist so I just scheduled an appointment with Dr. Sam because we only needed a cleaning done.
He was amazing with my 8 year old so we're sticking with him for the kids too!!
For myself, I had 2 appointments with him, one for cleaning and the other for a filling. He's very gentle and friendly. I'm definitely sticking with him.
Dr. Jonathon Wong:
I went to Dr. Wong to see about getting something aesthetic fixed and he told me that I really didn't need to get the job done saying something like, "I'll do it if you want me to but your teeth are healthy and you really don't need to fix what isn't broken"
Do you know how many dentists would have taken my money no problem?!?!
I've heard horror stories of people getting ripped off by dentists who performed services that didn't need to be done. -

I have gone to Dental Salon for over a year now and still think it's great.
I recently had a couple old fillings that needed to be replaced and Dr. Platson showed me pictures of them so everything was clear. I hardly remember getting the shot and felt perfect after.
I also just started Invisalign and it couldn't be easier. I am sure Invisalign is similar in lots of offices, but the price was really fair and the plan was explained to me in a really straight forward way. Plus, I get to see the doctor every time, not just an assistant.

I pity the fool! That fool is not me, it's the folks that are getting conned into going here.
My visit marked the 3rd occasion where I used a Groupon only to be utterly disappointed (I've ended my daily email subscriptions from them because I've been let down too much).
What more could a busy and broke grad student want? A $59 deal for cleaning and Xrays sounded awesome. Until these folks tried to convince me that I have 3 cavities.
HA! I've lived 30 years without a cavity, I've had 7 years of orthodontic and reconstructive dental work, and I only missed one check up last year--I know what to expect with my dental health and Dental Salon can't f*** with me.
The worst part of the experience is that I felt like I cheated on my old dentist (who I can't afford anymore sans dental insurance) when I came groveling back for a second opinion. She didn't charge me a cent for the feedback and as always, I trusted what she had to tell me. NO CAVITIES PERIOD.
The biggest lesson in all of this--never take a healthcare deal especially when the word "Salon" is in the clinic's name. They're only trying to con you with unnecessary and cosmetic work that costs way too much.Comment from Mark M. of Dental Salon 5/19/2011

I visited Dental Salon one Sunday in the midst of an earthshaking toothache. The girl on the phone was great and got me set up with an emergency visit just about an hour and a half later. The dental assistant was sweet and professional and really made me feel at ease... All was going great until the actual doctor came in and assaulted me with his salesmanship abilities. My intention was to have the tooth removed but by the time he was done with his schpeel I was afraid to let him in my mouth unless I was gonna go for the expensive procedure. I am definitely seeking a professional opinion elseware...

My experiences at Dental Salon lead me to believe that they care about the bottom line MUCH more than they do about their patients. There was a complete absence of compassion during both of my visits. They dished out recommendations with no reasoning or explaination behind them. When I had additional questions for the doctor performing my consult, he brushed me off restating his recommendation and ended our appointment.

Usually I cringe when thinking about a dental visit, but that is not the case with the wonderful dentist and staff at Dental Salon at north ave. Everyone I have met at the office is extremely friendly, helpful, and informative. My husband and I started working with Dental Salon 2 years ago when we were simply looking for an office that offered nighttime and weekend hours (which is so hard to find in this city). Dental salon offers that but so much more, their staff goes out of their way to make sure their patients are informed of dental and payment options and the dentists are so good at what they do that they guarantee their work. Dr. Scott has carefully repaired several of my husband's crowns, and Dr. Stec has filled the couple cavities I've unfortunately gotten this past year. They truly care about their patients as they do follow up calls after your visit, and recently they even asked how my toddler son was doing, as they remember him visiting- and remembered his name! All of these things make this Dental practice special; I know we'll be long time patients!

While temporarily in Chicago (before I moved here), I chipped my front tooth. Having no dentist in Chicago at the time, I found the closest dentist to where I was staying that could schedule me in the quickest time possible.
Thank you, Dental Salon. I was able to get in THAT evening. Also not having dental insurance at the time, I was looking for a cheaper solution until I started my job. The dentist I met with was very understanding and said he could just shave down the jagged part, and that a crown likely wouldn't be necessarily. I appreciate the honesty and the willingness to understand my situation.
The facilities are immaculate and very new. Great state of the art technology, and very welcoming receptionists.
They aren't my current dentists here in Chicago because my current health insurance doesn't cover them, but I'd recommend them off of my emergency experience. -

Pro: In terms of the facility, everything appears very clean and the staff are very friendly. I like having the separate room where you can fill out your forms and talk with the doctor in private.
Con: I don't like walking down the corridor and seeing all the other patients getting their teeth examined.
Pro: The doctor was very knowledgeable and helpful in my dental analysis.
Con: The dental "aid" as I will call her took pictures of my teeth using these hooks that she kept placing on a counter that I'm sure was not disinfected before hand because there was this chalky white stuff on it. This is not aseptic technique! Then, she was incharge of the polishing after my examination and was really clumsy with the tool. She leaned the instrument, that is pulsing at a very intense rate, against my lower lip to get to my back molars. This resulted in tissue damage, and a swollen lip.
My experience of my wisdom teeth extraction was ten times better than this cleaning.Comment from Mark M. of Dental Salon 2/25/2011

Dental Salon has an outstanding facility, well trained staff and very flexible hours. Over the past 3 years I've had routine cleaning, some minor dental work and Invisalign teeth alignment. Dr. Morris has been very accommodating with my Invisalign treatment and has been making sure that I get the desired results, even if it may take longer.

I am not a fan of Yelp's filtering system and how it removes reviews. I had written a true-life multi-paragraph story of my issues with the Dental Salon a few years ago and of course it gets removed, but yet all these five star reviews from individuals with less than five reviews remain.
So, what more can I do than update? When I went to the Dental Salon once in Fall 2008, two years ago, I was told I had a few cavities that needed filled. Mind you, these weren't bothering me and I didn't think anything was wrong, but I went ahead and let them fill the cavities. Two years later, I had a dental check-up and my new dentist tells me that one of these fillings was poorly done and is loose and falling out. Now I have to pay $80 some in copay and go through the pain of getting a filling removed and redone.
Thanks Dental Salon for messing up my mouth.Comment from Mark M. of Dental Salon 8/16/2011

Can I give ZERO star? THE WORST. EVER. Don't go here. I had the worst doctor. I wish I remembered his name--if I'm not mistaken, he must have graduated from dental school the day of b/c he had no clue what to say other than point out to me via tooth xray what he saw--like he took a test and had to identify the parts..."root, gum, tooth..." I literally got up and walked out after telling him repeatedly that I was suffering from a continuous throb/toothache. His bedside manner was rude and unprofessional-- not toto mention his big advice of taking 2 Ibuprofen. Sure thing dude.

The dentists here are great..the front desk staff is sometimes pretty clueles and I recently had a bad experience with their lack of training which led to the office giving me a free Starbucks gift card. That's ironic since the dentist was telling me how is hates how Americans drink too much coffee and stain their teeth.
My regular dentist here is Dr. Desai, a small little Indian lady who recently had a baby...so she's usually very cordial and understanding and the male dentist I had was not as gentle.
The space is large and clean and very bright...I like that...and the windows help take your attention off the torture. -

Great dentist! Stress-free parking, lovely office, friendly staff, and dentists who aren't pushy. Great service at each visit, complete with a snazzy folder with pics of all your teeth and x-rays, so that you could even take them along with you to another dentist, should you have to move.

LOVE LOVE Dental Salon!
Not only is this dental office divine in how they treat their patients, but the office itself is sleek, modern, and very spacious. Going to the dentist already scares me, but nothing is worse than being nervous and then being packed into a small, cramped office--Thankfully this is not the case at Dental Salon. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcome and that I was in good hands. The receptionists were very personable and the selection of magazines to peruse was extensive.
I hadn't been to a dentist in 2 years (i know i know I'm bad) and was nervous about what I would be told. Sure enough I had some cavities and a more complicated procedure to look forward too, but I was impressed with how Dental Salon discussed everything with me. I was shown several short videos demonstrating and explaining the procedures I was to receive and then able to discuss this with Dr. Desai, my dentist. I also met with someone else from the office to discuss payment options. Dr. Desai made me feel at ease always with her calm and friendly demeanor from our first conversation. Her sweet personality and jokes also kept me from getting bored during the two procedures I needed. Favi, the hygienist, is probably my favorite person here because she is so bubbly and always makes me smile. She is also very skilled at what she does and makes you feel comfortable by explaining exactly what she's doing.
Dental Salon is a wonderful place and definitely a good dentist to go to for anyone, but especially if you've previously had a bad dental experience--trust me they will make you feel at ease! -
Review from Kyle M.

To start this a very well designed, warm feeling dentist office with a great view of the city. The staff is typically very welcoming and most of the experiences I had here were pleasant ones.
My last experience here was a not so good one. I showed up to have a routine cavity filled only to be greeted by a different dentist, who due to changes they were making in their system, could not locate my dental x-rays to examine prior to treatment. Interestingly enough, she began work anyway after physically examining the tooth and stating "you need a root canal" on this. This pompous female dentist went on to have a full out conversation about her upcoming retirement from dentistry and start up of a dental product company with the dental assistant. I also got to hear all about her AMAZING daughters and just how brilliantly smart they were. Never did she once stop to ask how I was doing as the local anesthetic began to wear and I winced in pain. Needless to say it was a horrible experience and I did email their office within a week of this poor experience only to get no response whatsoever....
I live in Seattle now and have found a new dentist, but a recent cleaning got me thinking about my experience and I wanted to see if other people were starting to see past the pretty office here too.
I would caution anyone considering having serious work done here to also get a second opinion. Dr. Desai stressed how much I would need an expensive procedure called an "onlay" which I could not afford at the time. After explaining to my new dentist that I was ready to have it done, she informed me that I didn't need one and most dentists don't do them anymore. When I asked why someone might recommend one, she without knowing anything about Dental Salon said "if your dentist is attempting to redecorate his office on your dollar"
Recently my new dentist just replaced a poorly placed crown that I had done at Dental Salon two years ago. I didn't notify dental salon of this, because....well, they never replied to my initial complaint.
Dental Salon does a lot of work and I would argue that a majority of my time here I felt I was well taken care of, but when they drop the ball they seem to have trouble accepting mistakes and failure. As with any medical diagnosis, I would recommend getting a second opinion if you don't feel comfortable with their "recommendations" here. You probably won't when they sit down with you face to face and explain just how important an onlay is and that you will probably lose the tooth if you don't ( I still have my tooth btw).
To make one final recommendation, I would urge Dr. Morris to read Dale Carnegie's thoughts on "You Can't Win An Argument" . A chapter found in his book "How to Win Friends and Influence People" as everyone of his rebuttals to reviews on here attempts to attack credibility and alienate these customers. Even if you're right and everyone on here is wrong, you've only succeeded in making people feel inferior.
I wish them all the best.Comment from Mark M. of Dental Salon 11/18/2011

I've been coming here for almost two years now, so I guess I should write a review--especially since I found this place via Yelp.
What first lured me in to Dental Salon were the hours. When I moved to Chicago two years ago, I was working long hours and was only available to come in the evening or on the weekend. Dental Salon is perfect for that. However, what kept me was the service and the staff.
We all know that visits with the dentist are not pleasant things. I've gotten routine cleanings at Dental Salon as well as a few cavities filled. And I hate every aspect of it--the scraping, the drilling, the sound of the machines--I just hate it all. However, the staff at Dental Salon are so efficient and accommodating and really keep the unpleasantness to a minimum.
I've seen a couple different dentists and honestly, I can't remember their names. If you're just getting a routine cleaning you really only see them for a couple of minutes and most of your time is spent with the dental hygienist. Each time I've come, I've had Favi. She is so nice! I don't think you can find a more pleasant person to be all up in your mouth, for real. The last time I saw her, we had a long talk about flossing and the use of mouthwash (something I wasn't doing regularly) and she walked me through all the right procedures for proper cleaning at home (the things you think you know as an adult!). The next time I came in for a cleaning she gave me an "A" for taking care of my teeth--it's silly, but I felt like a kid getting a gold star in class, that's how nice her compliments were!
Overall, I will keep coming back here because of the ease of making appointments and the courtesy and professionalism of the staff. They really do turn a very unpleasant occurrence into something not-so bad. -

I am not a dentist person. I've gone through more dentists than I could count over two states, and this is far and away the best I've ever been to.
I've had root canals, a crown, a filling and numerous cleanings and check ups here (no wonder I don't care to see the dentist!), and I never hesitate to make the appointment or go to get work done. They're always efficient, effective and polite to boot.
It also doesn't hurt that when I've referred my coworkers and friends to go here, they give me a $25 Visa gift card for each person. I've racked up a cool hundred, but even if they didn't provide this kindness, I would STILL send everyone I know there. -

I thought I should update my review after doing some research about what course of action I could take against the completely inappropriate comment that Mark Morris has made on my review of Dental Salon.
First, I reported the comments to yelp. This is what Yelp's policy says on business owners commenting on customer reviews:
Public Comment Guidelines (for Business Owners)Private messaging is often the best way to resolve a dispute with an unhappy customer, but business owners can also address issues publicly by posting a public comment. As with private messaging, we ask that business owners upload a clear photo of themselves to help personalize their message. Don't use public comments to launch personal attacks, advertise, or offer an incentive to change a review.
Second, I filed a customer service complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
Third, I reported Mr. Morris to the Illinois Licensing and Professional Regulation Board in the State of Illinois. That information can be found here: http://www.ildpr.com and follow link in middle of page to "division of professional regulation." then on the bottom of that page there should be a Complaint Intake Unit link.
Fourth, it is against the law for Mark Morris to ever comment about mine or anyone else's private and confidential medical information on a public forum like Yelp. It might even be illegal for him to send this information through a yelp message. So, I filed a complaint with the United States Department of Health and Human Services for these HIPPA violations. That information can be found at http://www.hhs.gov/ocr....
Finally, I posted this updated review. I am not encouraging any other person to take action or to choose any particular course against Mr. Morris. Everything in this review is a statement of fact and constitutes my own opinion only. This review is merely an update on the actions I took in response to what I believe is a very serious violation of my rights as a patient of Dental Salon.
I sincerely hope that after this, the issue dies out and goes no further.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Not a fan of the dental salon. They want your business, and will invent dental issues for you if you have none. I went in for a cleaning. Left feeling icky. Saw Dr. Desai. She initially congratulated me on being cavity free. We went over my xrays and she pointed out what healthy teeth I had. We discussed my OCD daily flossing and brushing rituals.
After Dr. Desai had stashed my x-rays somewhere, someone came in and told her that I had a shadow on one of my teeth. Dr. Desai acted surprised and concerned and then announced that I would need to have some exploratory drilling done. The xrays that we had previously reviewed together could not be found.
Are there ethical boards for dentists? A second opinion said that my teeth were healthy and cavity free. Friends have had similar issues with other dentists, e.g. being told that they had twelve cavities, second opinion said two cavities; other phantom cavity diagnoses.

It is strange that people seem to either have had negative experiences or super positive experiences with The Dental Salon. Agree with others who have said that The Dental Salon should focus on improving their service. Clients will return if they do not feel like you are ripping them off and/or treating them poorly.Comment from Mark M. of Dental Salon 11/18/2011

I would suggest, fellow yelpers, that you continue to FLAG every single fake review for this place. They are sickening.
I cannot believe that "doctors" would waste their time: 1. posting on yelp, 2. reading every single review on yelp, 3. looking up patient's charts based on their yelp reviews and then contacting them on yelp, and 4. telling patients they can no longer seek care there because they posted on yelp.
Hey Dental Salon - if you were so concerned about my review and the dental care I received (that you went and looked up my CHART) -- then why didn't you pick up a phone and call me? Instead you chose to harass me on here? And then send me another harassing letter?
Here's an idea: WHY DON'T YOU FOCUS ON THE CARE YOU PROVIDE, AND ON TREATING YOUR PATIENTS. And spend less time posting fake reviews and harassing people.2 Previous Reviews: Show all »

God. This is turning into something i wish it didnt. I am starting to agree with a post i saw a while back about being able to yelp freely without business owners having the ability to sabre rattle someone.
i mean, again...having private emails about what went down with my second opinion and thinking everything was over with....i get called out again in public
the dentist i saw yesterday didnt want the x-rays from the dental salon because they wanted to formulate their own opinion and not have something already in their heads. which i think is a very smart way to go.
Im so tired of you throwing my wife into this. I just instructed her not to go back in to see you guys anymore. I dont need this kind of attention, and its like you are acting like a 5 year old guilt tripping me by using my wife.
im glad you agree with what your dentist diagnosed. Should not be surprised, you are protecting your employees...and that is fine, but I believe they were wrong, and i went out to find out if they were
so, its fine. good luck with your business. Dont private message me anymore because obviously even though you are prentending to be nice you cant let it die and feel the need to take your ball and go home.3 Previous Reviews: Show all »

Yet another reason why this business should (and has been) reported to the better business bureau. Commenting on another patient's medical procedures, records, and insurance on a public forum is violating patient confidentiality. How unprofessional, if it is not illegal, it is certainly close to it.
8/23/2009: Not sure how many times you can update, so taking the lazy approach and editing. Funny how the owner keeps trolling their listing to harass those that leave negative feedback. As for continually leaving feedback, I think you may be huffing too much nitrous oxide. I am simply responding to YOUR messages you keep leaving like a scorned ex . FYI, BBB probably won't post till Monday, please keep checking :D
***You can do what you like with your receptionist, my negative review stands. It's not only about the lack of competent scheduling, it is also the horrendous customer service and apparently from others, improper insurance billing practices, bad dentistry, and violating patient confidentiality by posting personal information on this site. Instead of getting into a flame war on the internet, perhaps you should concentrate on running a better business before someone tries to sue.2 Previous Reviews: Show all »

A little too assembly-line. For my last visit, I was kept waiting for 45 minutes, then moved across the hall to their second office. I waited there another hour, until they finally "found" me. "We've been looking for you!" Really? Cause you put me here an hour ago!
I have to say, though, I love my dentist there and it's great to have somewhere that had night and weekend appointments.Comment from Mark M. of Dental Salon 8/14/2010

Whatever...
If I want to go to a 'spa-like atmosphere' I 'll go to a spa.
Yes the office is nice and has a nice view blah, blah, blah. Go up 8 floors anywhere in Chicago and there is a nice view.
This place is just OK for cleanings and fillings. I've been here 3 times and it really was not that great. I did not care for Dr Desai, she struck me as a new grad from dental school.
I'll give it one star because of the friendly front office staff and the dental assistants. The office is clean and the parking works out well too.
I also want to say that I agree with previous reviewer about the filler reviews. What are they doing monitoring Yelp pages if they are so great????
Very suspicious with all of the 5 stars by one review people.... -

Don't go here, one of the dentists needed to file one of my teeth to prevent tooth pain, but it must have been a little too close to quitting time for her because she refused to give me novacaine when I started to feel the filing.
( To be fair, it was close to the end of the night. I waited at least an hour to be seen in the first place )
So basically, they tried to drill my tooth with no anisthetic. I ended up crying and saying 'no please stop' like a little kid because it hurt so much and now my bite is uneven for 6 months until insurance sends me to a new dentist.
Great. Thanks. Sure I could always pay out of my pocket to come back and have it fixed hoping that someone wouldn't feel too rushed to be meticulous ...
After I paid how much for the check up? Nah I can find a new dentist.Comment from Mark M. of Dental Salon 9/11/2010

Have you ever been struck by beauty at your dentist's??!?
No?!?!?
Well - neither had I since this morning.
Here's the story:
- beautiful space; bright, modern, sleek, the minute you walk in you are in White Teeth Wonderland. Even the waiting room is quite of cute.
- beautiful magazines; forget about the torn and outdated issues of some obscure publications. Us, Chicago Magazine, Michigan, Vogue and GQ are there for your waiting pleasure.
- beautiful equipment; singular thing to say, I know but it really surprised me in the best way possible when I was there. And super comfortable chair.....almost comfortable enough to fall asleep between two X-rays.
- beautiful pictures; call me a weirdo but I really appreciated seeing the pictures of the smallish cavities I had...a first for me. I mean - of course it's kinda of gross but it's my teeth and I enjoyed having the opportunity to know what's going on in the secret of my mouth. I even have the copies at home.....ya know....for entertainment....
- beautiful people; the two receptionists had angel faces and killer smiles (good job on the casting guys) but it was my hygienist who totally won my over.....Christian, Romanian from Transylvania, has to be related to these magnetic vampires popping on every screen lately.... attractive like it's not allowed to be when you are cleaning/x-raying people's mouth....and so sweet that you might just want to ask him to marry you on the spot.
End of rant and daylight fantasy.
Quick and painless cleaning.
Wonderful detailed explanations from my doctor who I am going to see again twice next week.
I couldn't be happier.
At the dentist's.
At least.Listed in: Before 911
