Oh my God RVCA jeans that squeeze my ass and legs into tiny little blue sausages! Hooray for skinny jeans!
Props for that brand that's made out of bamboo. Don't remember what it's called, but daamn when wearing their stuff, I look like I have curves the Lord never provided. Cleavage + sustainability? Sign me up!
Density carries cool stuff, and I live close by. This is a dangerous combination. As dangerous as the low hanging light in their dressing room. Be careful of that thing. I almost took myself out while trying on a bustier.

Density makes up for all that boutiques similar to it in San Jose lack. They have friendly employees who greet and talk with customers, and they have cool clothing and good sizes. The clothing is a bit typical--Wesc, RCVA, etc., but they have some Fred Perry mixed in. I noticed a lot of blue. I'll be sure to come back when I have hella bank, otherwise I'll leave sad and depressed as I did today.
Density (which just got a brand new sign this week so you can find it easier) is constantly updating its inventory. I'm always amazed when I turn over a price tag in there: sometimes you get a shirt for $30 and other times you get jeans at $200. Great selection. Like Tinna H., I usually stop in after my evening BART commute. I wish they'd stock more accessories. I love what they have now and would like to see more. That's a fashion category Mission boutiques are seriously lacking.

Update: 5/20 - saw a sign outside!
Four or so months in business and still no sign out front, but that doesn't matter! It seems a lot of businesses have gone this route and are doing just fine. Density still manages to distract me during a two-block stroll from 17th/Mission to 16th/Valencia. In less than ten minutes, I was the owner of a cute new Loyal Army hoodie. [It was a hit at the Orson event!]
Tons of hip, stylish, cool, neat, cute and casual clothing in the store, there is something for both men and women [a pretty even split between the two]. Check out the sale rack. I spoke to the gal running the shop at the time, and there are a lot of new styles in. They're looking to clear stuff off the racks to make room for the new, so it's likely that these items will be hitting the sale rack soon. I'm definitely going to check it out again soon!
Spontaneous shopping isn't good for me. My hoodie was supposedly 40% off - stuff they wanted to clear off the racks for the new. I'm a nerd and a fan of cute, so I went home and looked up the brand. Turns out I spent a few dollars less than what they're selling it for online. -.-

hottest clothes from europe. watch the sizes though....they run a little slim.
A sleek urban boutique. Different than most of the other hip Mission stores. I think hard edges and attitude when I think of Density. Most other Mission boutiques are soft and fluffy.
The selection is small but well chosen including my fave RVCA jeans
This hip little boutique only opened up 2 weeks ago and is already a Valencia Street hot spot. Density carries some of my favorite labels, including WESC, SupremeBeing, RVCA, and Upper Playground. Prices are in the reasonable range (for said labels) and the place is well-designed. To top it off, owner Sabrina is a sweetie.
Density is a welcome addition to the Valencia stretch between 16th and 17th, which now has quite a few interesting boutiques, furniture shops, and multiple star restaurants. My hood is on the up and up!

I was so overwhelmed by all of the great, reasonably priced clothes at Density that I left the store without buying anything. I will have to return soon with a clearer head. They stock a variety of items for men and women from screen-printed tees to hats to coats to dresses, and denim! All packed into a tiny store. The place is small but the merchandise is well-organized making it very easy to browse. If you need a break from shopping there's a full-sized Ms. Pac-Man arcade game at the back of the store, and It's free to play!

3.5 A rainy night a ducked into Density. This is a "mature" urban clothing store that adds a more sophisticated look than clothes from Upper Playground. I found that the womans selection was pretty limited. They had Raven jeans, which is difficult to find anywhere except for a limited selection at Ambiance & MetroPark. They also had Kasil jeans as well.
The real selection here are for the men. Sweet graphic tshirts that have pretty bold colors going on. They also have some stylish hats and jackets for men. I'll bring the man back here for the half of my 3.5 stars.

This boutique is very sleek. The space isn't cluttered, the colors aren't too loud, and the house beats weren't too invasive. Other than RVCA, not very many labels stuck out to me. They had about 10 styles of designer jeans. Most of the pieces that caught my eye were under $100, but I didn't have time to try anything on. This will be a consistent stop whenever I'm in the Mission.

This lovely little store has a range of items for men and women, selected with an eye for the sleek and modern. It's like Therapy's hip older sister who came back from New York for the holidays.
As previously mentioned, the decor is uncluttered but not sparse--so you don't feel like you're drowning in clothes, nor are you on display in the middle of an empty room. I found a very reasonably priced dress from Orion London, and a crazy chunky gray sweater that is very up-to-date. The very stylish salesgirl was also funny and helpful--though the single dressing room made her job a little tough with juggling customers.
Between Therapy, Candy Store, Five and Diamond and now Density, the 16th st Mission stop is becoming dangerous to my personal finances.

Usually I reserve judgment about a boutique until after it has been open for a season or two, but Density seems a sure success. Everything about the store, from the designers to the decor is intentional and well thought out. It can cater to the mission crowd with its relatively inexpensive and not over-marketed tees and hats, but also provides great statement pieces for those who want to splurge on a dress or a coat. Overall, the store is far more urban sleek than places I usually see in California.
The owner is really sweet and after a quick chat with her, it was clear that she has a handle on obscure designers from all over the world (and not just Europe).
The best part? I found a great jacket there for under $100!
i saw a pretty dress in the window so i had to come in. i liked a lot of the sweaters, dresses and hoodie jackets. they also had some cute tees that i heard were designed by local artists promoting a positive message. the jean selection was good too.
my sister bought an adorable shirt/dress for a pretty reasonable price. too bad it was the last one.

i was wandering on a sunday afternoon, because its a nice day out and i shouldnt waste it, but had no idea what to do out in that nice day. i saw this store and went in. i have been looking for a unique, lighterweight jacket. i saw one i liked, and it was only $72 or 4, but it wasn't the type i wanted, so i didnt get it. walking into this store was like walking into the l word. not because there was sex, but because of the music. it was that aah-aah touchy feely music they play on there. so take that as a compliment or criticism, depending on your taste in music. it made me look quicker, to get away from it. clothes looked nice, well priced, cheaper than i expected. seemed to be more womens than mens clothing. some t's, some fancier... but nothing im into. not my style. it was definitely nice clothing tho, so go check it out.

Nice shop ! It is great to see more and more cool shops populating Valencia Welcome to the neighborhood !
I bought a jacket here on December 30th. When I took it home, I noticed it had a small tear in it. I took it back on January 2nd. The following is a chronological list of what has since transpired:
1/2: I return the jacket. They no longer have any more in my size, but I like it so I can wait for an exchange. I am told that the clerk will call the supplier as soon as possible and ship out the defective jacket to have another shipped in. It is Wednesday, and more or less still the holidays, so I should be patient. She'll know by Monday, and then give me a call.
1/9: I still have not heard back from the clerk, so I give a call to her cel phone. She told me she hasn't heard back but will call me back by the end of the week. This never happens.
1/11: Another phone call, another runaround. Still no jacket, still promises to hear from her when she knows something.
1/16: I go into the store. A new person is working. She is very nice. She tells me that the other girl is in Spain. She tells me to check the rack because they might have my size up there. To my surprise, there is one. Of course, it's the one with the tear that I had returned two weeks ago. She apologizes and offers me exchanges. It is rather shocking that a defective jacket that was supposed to be shipped out the week before is actually back on the sales rack. Sadly, there is nothing else in the store I want. All I want is a black jacket. After explaining to me that an exchange will probably take a long time, I agree to just let her have it repaired at a nearby seamstress at the store's expense, as it is against store policy to give cash refunds. Like I said, I just want the damn jacket. I am told this will take two or three days and that I will soon receive a phone call. This never happens.
Incidentally, it is currently on sale for 20% off.
1/28: I call the phone number for the store listed on their business card. The phone has been disconnected. Awesome. I try their alleged email. No answer still.
1/29: I go in. The jacket is still hanging behind the cash register. The original clerk calls their supplier, who informs her that it is on its way from New Jersey and that it shipped on the 23rd. I am astounded. But I don't voice my displeasure. Instead, I do so passive aggressively the next day on yelp.
Incidentally, the jacket is 40% off.
The clothes here are undeniably cool. And the ladies that work here are very nice. But I don't appreciate it when people tell me they're going to call me "in a few days" and it never happens. And I still don't have my jacket.
***UPDATE***
2/5: I got a call today that said my jacket was in. I'm going to go pick it up after work.
***UPDATE***
2/5: I just got a call two hours after the last one that said they're closing early. Oh well. What's going to happen tomorrow? Some bum is going to piss on it before I can get it?
***UPDATE***
2/6: Halle-fucking-lujah, I got my jacket. Too bad it's like 70 degrees out today.
