Dr I is sooooooooo awesome! I was referred to Dr I by my coworker. They take Vision Service Plan btw-. I went in for my appointment and his staff was very helpful. It was a very quick and easy process to get my eyes checked for contact lens. I had complained to Dr I about my difficulty with lens due to irritation and he took the time to check my eyes thoroughly and help me find the right brand of lens for a comfortable fit. I didn't feel rushed at all (i hate when that happens!) and Dr. I is sooo personable (he feels like an old friend i've always had!) He also took the time to ask me alot of investigative questions to understand my eye sight. He explained and made great health recommendations for me to care for my eyes better on a daily basis.
I would and will definitely recommend Dr. I to all my friends and family for future eyecare! -

I got my i's inspected by Dr I. great optometrist! he was very friendly, and he knew his stuff. the location is great too! after I got my pupils dilated, I couldn't drive so I went to the pho place next door. there's also a yogurt place, a sushi place, and a wings place in the same plaza.

Dr. Iwamoto and his staff are incredibly good at what they do and you will be impressed of the high level of quality service and comfort that is provided here at this location. As you get your eye examed, you will notice the high level of depth and care Dr. Iwamoto provides in making sure you are accommodated and given the best possible service available. His level of knowledge and ability to interpret results and match them with your own personal preference and lifestyle is a skill that is incomparable and unique to what you will find today at other offices. And most importantly, the results show!
You will notice that the office is very clean and updated. They have a wide variety of frames and styles available. This is very important because you may notice in some other facilities, they do not routinely update and keep up to date the style of frames available. This office regularly maintains whats fashionable and trendy including what is your classic styles. They also have prescription sunglasses available here as well. You may have also heard that some offices say they cannot prescribe you certain lenses because they cannot manufacture the type of lens due to your eyesight, but from personal experience (and I have bad eyes) they were able to manufacture the thin type of glasses on the matching frame I want! (I have been told countless times before they it was impossible due to my bad eyesight!)
The receptionist does a very good job in scheduling and accommodating your availability and they regularly check up to see how you are doing. Talk about personality! They open their office for long periods of time which is also very helpful.
Trust me when I say, go here. This is really such a good optometry business! Thanks Dr. I and staff! -

I came here a couple of weeks ago because I was having MAJOR redness in my eyes. They were so itchy I felt like I had to pull them out to scratch behind the eye. Dr I hooked me up with some drops and one hour letter I was feeling so much better.
The shopping mall that this place is located is so awesome
1) Get your eye exam
2) Get your nails done nextdoor
3) Get your hair down couple of doors down the street
4) Go to Pho cali and get some lunch!

I never received anything but top notch service from Dr. Iwamoto and his staff! They introduced me to my first pair of contacts! I can't imagine life without them now.
It's unfortunate that I moved from Mira Mesa and no longer have vision insurance so I had to look into other options, but I would definitely recommend! -

Dr. Iwamoto's is the place to go for your vision care in Mira Mesa. It's been about two years since my last checkup so I decided to get my eyes checked. While on the subject, my friend suggested I try out contacts.
I've worn contacts twice in my life, the first time in high school with hard contacts. They hurt. A lot. Especially during allergy season. The second time was in college with soft contacts. Soft contacts moved around in my eyes every time I blinked and I never really got used to. And when allergy season came, I suffered.
Dr. Iwamoto has been different. He's taken the time to help me fit my contacts so they don't move around so much in my eye. He helped me find contacts that work for my eyes and provide the greatest level of clarity, and also recommended different types of contact solution to find which one provides the most comfort. -

Our family of 5 has been going to Dr. I's vision care for 4 years, and we would never go anywhere else. Dr. Iwamoto is efficient and friendly, and his office works together beautifully. Pauline calls all of us up every year for our checkups, she's been there since we've been going there, and it's wonderful to see familiar faces each time. Alisha is patient with me and the kids when we pick out our frames, and she understands insurances and will help guide us to the ones that are covered and the features we need vs. what might be fluff. We love Dr. Iwamoto and his staff.

Dr. Iwamoto and his staff were really helpful. Had pain in my eye and walked in and was able to get an appointment right away. Pamela and the others at the front desk were really friendly and was able to get me set up.
Dr. I was really helpful and was able to find something inside of my eye that was causing the pain. He was able to fix the problem and had me on my way. The Dr. was really knowledgeable and offered to do more examinations at some time in the future (I'll make sure to take him up on that).
I hate going to the doctors period, but Dr I and his staff made the visit easy and pleasant. Check these guys out if you need some eye work. -

Full disclosure: I've known Denis for years and started going to him when he was with For Eyes down near the Sports Arena. That said, this guy is on his game--knowledgeable in the latest treatments, personable, caring and spends quality time with his patients. He's no rookie--he had decades of experience. His team in the office is great. Pauline, at the front desk, keeps everyone on the ball (so to speak ;-) and will keep you reminded of your appointments and make sure all insurances are taken care of. When you're finished with your exam, check out the collections of eyeware available. The selection of frames is on the small side but has all the latest styles. Dr. Iwamoto will take care of you too, just make an appointment! When your appointment is done, go next door and have some Vietnamese beef noodle soup at Pho Hoa Cali--amazing flavors reasonably priced.

Dr. Iwamoto and his team are the best! They truly make sure that one feels fully taken care of. There are no pushy gimmicks like other places I have visited so that is a definite plus! Go there once, and they will always remember you.

Do not call here if it is an emergency. I called trying to get an appt. because my eyes physically hurt on a Wend. and they said they could not see me until Monday. Poor service to people with emergencies.

Ok, I created a Yelp account because I felt compelled to write a review for Dr. Iwamoto! I had my first visit there today and everything was pleasant - from the reception area to the exam room. Dr. Iwamoto (aka Dr. I) was very friendly and personable. He took the time to listen to me and explain things thoroughly. Also, his two assistants were both very nice and easy to talk to. There was absolutely no sales pressure to get a certain brand, etc. They answered a lot of my questions and were patient. If you need an eye doctor and live/work near the area, I would recommend you give him a try!
