One of my favorite places to eat in town! While I've never been to the St. Mary's location... I've been to both the Blanco/410 location and the Vineyard location. I always order up the original gyro, and it became a habit of my roomie and I to order a 1/2 pint of tzaziki 'sauce' and pita on the side. The best part (as I'm sure any Demo's regular would agree) is letting the heat of the gyro meat cause the sauce to drip out onto your fries, and then save the majority of your fries all sauced up for the end of the meal! Also, if you go eat there on certain nights you can catch some belly dancing entertainment!
The staff is always very friendly and the atmosphere is great! They also offer outdoor seating, which can be quite enjoyable on a nice Spring afternoon!
San Antonio has completely redeemed itself with 3 little words..."Demo's Greek Food". Lunch was so good, I don't even know where to begin....
I ordered the lunch special Gyro, salad, fries, drink $6.99....I practically licked the damn plate clean. I would even be so bold to say the best GYRO I have ever had...PERIOD! I also ordered hummus and pita....hummus was flavor-full and the pita was nice and warm. Today was the perfect day to sit outside....and enjoy lunch.
I would recommend giving yourself a little extra time....the line was pretty long and didn't move so quickly. I will definitely be adding this place to my weekly lunch rotation.
UPDATE: They just raised their prices. $8.50 for the lunch special. So long $6.99

Solid greek food; fun, 'authentic' (ie cheesy and probably not authentic) environment. They have greek dancing some nights if thats your thing.
Gyros are the only thing i've ever gotten here because they are just so damn good. Papouli's out on Heubner is the only place in town that even comes close.
As much as i love this place, i have two complaints:
1.) The fries aren't bad, they're obviously home made, but they are soggy and flimsy. I prefer a little bit of crunch in my fries.
2.) Trinity University (where i went to school) is a few blocks away. On any given night this place gets loaded with Trinity kids whose list of places they go to can be counted on one hand. I don't mind seeing people from school, but Trinity is a small school. Every time i went there i ran into that girl i went on a really bad date with, or the guy who i worked on a group project with who never showed up to group meetings and didn't pull his weight, or the girl across the hall that told your RA you had a six pack of beer in your fridge freshman year, or the creepy girl that sits behind you in linear algebra and keeps bugging you about "studying together"....

Possibly the best gyro I've had in Texas. The meat was thickly cut and ample, with a delicious sauce that was thick but not overpowering. A nice change from some of the runnier sauces I am served in Austin. I wasn't a huge fan of the fries, but I've been a bit down on potato products lately. My husband had one of the combo plates and enjoyed it all immensely.
Neat decor as well. I enjoyed the murals and tiling on the floor.

I am the gyro master, the Titan of the Tzatziki, the guru of the Feta and I know a good Gyro when I taste one. While sadly I cannot say that this is the "greatest" gyro I have ever tasted (that distinction is still held by Med-Mix in Seattle, WA) I can tell you that this is a close second. Let me also clarify that I am referring to the Americanized gyro. That would be a gyro with feta, tomatoes, onions, lettuce and sauce. Overseas and in Greece I have never been offered a Gyro with all that on it, usually it is just the meat in a warm pita with some Tzatziki and maybe some Feta.
So for the Americanized gyro this is a close second, or maybe even a good strong tie with Santorini Greek Grill in Kirkland, WA.
LOCATION:
Located in a cool funky little neighborhood in San Antonio and convenient to show goers at White Rabbit, this is a great place to grab a bite before a show. The building is cool and artistic, they is a ton of seating, a cool outdoor patio and a great vibe throughout the restaurant.
SERVICE:
Service was courteous, professional and they worked quickly to get my amazing food out to me.
FOOD:
I had the regular sized "deluxe" gyro with Feta, tomatoes, lettuce, olives and tzatziki sauce. It was presented to me in a plastic basket lying triumphantly on a bed of fries. Let me quickly comment on the fries, I didn't like them, they were those soggy almost black fries you get at bad street fairs, but who really cares anyway because this is all about the GYRO!!
The almighty Gyro, the brilliant combination of seasoned lamb, tzatziki sauce, Feta cheese and fresh veggies, that is why I came here. The pita bread was fresh and warm, the gyro meat was seasoned perfectly and was a nice thick cut, not the thin cuts like some places in Austin. The veggies were fresh and crisp, the sauce was aplenty and made perfectly, the feta serving was generous and high quality. Overall this was an amazing Gyro and one of the best I have ever had.
PRICING:
Prices are fair, about average for a gyro place. Expect to spend about $8 with a good sandwich, fries and a drink.
Overall, this is a cool place in a cool building with great food, quick service and one amazing Gyro. I am looking forward to eating here again.

I really like Demo's for Greek food. I'm a fan of the gyros and the greek salad. They have a bunch of different combinations, but everything that I've tried has been great. I typically make this a stop during visits home to see the parents and each time I'm pleased with my meal.
Terrific gyros & salad. Lots of space, doesn't feel crowded.
