1 review for Demetrios Family Restaurant
Clean, cozy, a little worn but not broken, with some live and well maintained plants, and with a few flat screen TVs hanging from the ceiling, Demetrios feels like you've gone back home after many MANY years. The parking lot needs to be bigger, though, as this place is popular with the locals. Saturday morning breakfast was almost a full house, and I was lucky to find an available parking spot within reasonable walking distance to the restaurant entrance.
Service was a little iffy. The guy who walked me to the table just waved me over and pointed out where to sit. Didn't say "welcome" nor "hi" nor anything to make me feel welcome. The waitress was a bit cold at first, but changed to a more welcoming, more appreciative way. She was prompt and always making sure my cup of coffee was full.
The menu is what you would expect to find in your typical "family restaurant", but the cost of each food and drink item is the real star- low, affordable, and certainly economically friendly during these question mark times.
For breakfast I had the Belgium Waffle, sausage links, and coffee. The coffee was very good! The sausage links could've been a little warmer, if not more flavor. The waffle was edible but didn't have much taste. Pouring on Maple Syrup and spreading some butter kicked up the taste half a notch, but nothing to write home about. Overall, the breakfast was edible, but it missed the WOW factor and a podium finish by a couple of spots. For those who don't watch Formula One racing, a podium finish are the top three racers in a race. This breakfast would have a 5th or 6th place finish out of 19 racers.....
The clientele was interesting. Not as many families with kids as I thought there would be. Ive seen more middle aged and senior citizen aged couples and groups eating breakfast and talking about a variety of topics. Most notable were the customers complaining about the Democrats and the Republicans. Meanwhile, CNN was on the TV right by my table.
Could this be THE sight for the next political Armageddon? Well before that happens, this place needs to improve a little on their customer service and breakfast foods and make the parking lot bigger. This place has been around since 1986 and has the potential to be better and around for a long LONG time!
