My g.f.  had a nearly identical experience to the one described by Dan A.   when we stayed there a few weeks ago for our anniversary.

We'd reserved a riverside room on the top floor (via online reservations) and was assigned a dockside room on the 4th (not top) floor.   They didn't act like that was a big deal, and said that they couldn't give us the river view because those rooms were full.  Hm, that's interesting because we paid for the riverside view...they agreed to charge us the dockside fee (that's nice), and other that that, they were incredibly friendly and helpful with all other aspects of our stay. But there is still a mysterious $30 charge  from the Delta King. Lame.

That said, I loved the decor, it was very clean, and I loved staying on the boat. It all felt just a touch hokey, but just enough to really feel like we were actually on vacation.  I was real excited because I saw that they had a piano bar,  but it was more of a live karaoke band, and that was hokey-entertaining, too.

I didn't stay here but my father and his wife did while visiting me for fathers day and I had the chance to dine with them at the Pilothouse restaurant and check out their room.  The food was delicious but the service lacked a little since the dining room was pretty empty the evening before fathers day.  I definitely want to go back and participate in their murder mystery night or other theater event.  After our great dinner, we stepped upstairs to the bar where they had live music.  Wasn't the best but it was definitely entertaining enough.

Walked the folks back up to their room and it was perfect for them.  They got the back corner of the boat so their room was bigger than all of the other rooms.  Also, we were directly facing the tower bridge and Raley field so we were able to see the fireworks from Raley field right from their room.  Perfect start to our fathers day weekend.  Definitely an old school feel to the boat but all remodeled/restored and very beautiful.

Historical ambiance.  The room is quaint, but not luxurious.  The toilet is the old-fashioned kind where the tank is above your head and you pull a chain to flush it.  The beds were comfy, the room was clean, and the shower had decent water pressure.   Still, it felt a little like deprivation because the rooms are slanted and small.  I realize there is a reason for the slanted rooms, something about the water always running off that way, but it was odd.

Also, the lady behind the desk told us that breakfast was open at 7:00 a.m.  That's a bit early for us on a Sunday morning so we strolled down at 9:00 only to find out that breakfast had closed, but that if we wanted to wait for an hour they would be opening for brunch at 10.   If she'd mentioned that the night before it would have been easy to make sure we were there in time to eat, so that was annoying.

Oddly, we never got our heater to work. Maybe we were in the same room as the one with the busted AC.

Went here just for drinks staying here is a novelty, as my friend Matt says who has stayed here a couple of times for romantic getaways that cost under $100 bucks....

Im excited though, Matts graduation from law school is coming up and we hear they have a palacial 2 story presidential suite. Hes planning on renting it and have a catering, so it will be real cool for people like me and really show off Sac! Will let you know how it goes later.....
