Two stars. Great trip, but a woman asked to sit next to me because her seat was covered in vomit. Talk about a need for quality control.

Maybe she'll get a ticket around the world. I just got some peanuts and a good cookie. Talk about getting the crumbs, or leftovers. ha?

A couple of years ago I was bringing a group of orphans from Eastern Europe to Alabama. Our flights (Kiev - New York - Atlanta - Birmingham) were operated by Delta, and their service was excellent. There was a delay in New York, and when we landed in Atlanta we were already 5 min late to our next flight. When we were running to the boarding gate we realized Delta actually delayed the flight to make sure we got on board. They also kept in touch with the host families over the phone while we were rushing through the airport.

Good job Delta

Delta Airlines is right after United. They are neck to neck. 20 years back it was the airline to fly. Two month out, i made sure to check and re-check for the flights and most important the seats, the night before even!! It was a total waste of time. First flight seats where already changed, second flight, 10 friggen hours in the center. My husband wanted and needs an isle seat, this is a big man. I have health issues. Nobody gave a crap. I will NEVER fly them again. EVER.

I wish to alert others about Delta's so-called Price Guarantee when you buy tickets online from their site. It is a meaningless- if not fraudulent-"guarantee" based upon my experience.

I purchased 2 tickets online from their site and soon afterwards found the price lower on the same flight by approx. $150 for both tickets. I forwarded the proper documentation so Delta could honor its "guarantee' but was told that, even though the proof was in order, they could not honor it because the flight was operated by Northwest, which Delta wholly owns.
Incredulous, I resubmitted it 2 more times and each time i was told the same thing.

Delta is knowingly placing a price guarantee next to this flight- and probably others- knowing that it can hide behind this meaningless technicality that it is operated by "another"airline, even though it is owned by them.

I fly relatively often and by its actions-even though I gave it ample opportunity to reconsider- and this practice Delta has made itself my carrier of last resort. Also, as someone who recommends airlines to the many dozens of flyers associated with the Institute I head, Delta has insured that it has lost many more flyers.

After shamelessly pillaging the gourmet snack basket for the friends stuck in coach, I place my drink order with the flight attendant.

(Clapping hands, gleefully confiding) "I LOVE when people order champagne...I like to pop the bottle in full view of coach. Love it, love it."

Down, Snarkie, Down.  I'll give you an extra star though for the entertainment factor and the attentive service.

The flight was cheap, and not terribly busy, it's a Thursday at 6:00am EST, so I guess that's why.  But we didn't board until 7:15am EST when we were supposed to leave at 7am EST.

Granted my destination was Missouri, still. And there was a flight out to Cancun Mexico right next to us, and the host kept announcing this, like she was rubbing it in my face " haha, you're a loser heading to MO, and we're going to MEXXXXXICOooOO!"

And I am usually really good about not packing too much, and knowing that I have to take all electronics and crap out for the security check, but for some reason they stopped me and riffled through my bag and wasted 20 mins for NOTHING! WTF!?!

Oh, and we left 30 mins after flight departure time! And no comments announced by the host... WTF?!

Anwyays it was ehh, okay....

I hate them too.  I was forced to cash in my miles on Continental for a ticket on Delta (I do not think they do that any more, but maybe I should hate Continental as well.).  We had to take three flights from Austin to JFK and back, which was cheap, but it took quite the zen experience to transcend the boundaries of this schedule.

I had not taken Delta since 2002, when my plane filled with smoke while in the air -- TWICE!  Those airline "hos" would not even tell us what was going on, even though a lady in front of me demanded to be told.

It took two emails to Delta customer service before anyone responded to my complaint.  I mean the freakin plane was on fire, people!  Once they responded, they gave me a $100 voucher toward my next Delta flight.

I wiped with it.

Laguardia or anywhere:

The only reason I don't give them  1 star is they have gotten me there alive-but not always with my luggage.

Every flight, be it business or economy class, that I've taken on them  had either a delay, rude staff that don't even bother to comb their hair or press their clothes, gate chaos, or lost bags.

Their Frequent Flyer program is crappy: I had some bookings, they cancelled my flights and rebooked me. When I tryed to get back onto some semblance of my normal schedule, they said I'd have to pay a $100 change fee!  I'm going to use up my remaining miles and try to find a better alternative.

Recently on a transcon flight, they were late again and they boarded us in the hot So. Cal. heat with NO A/C for 40 minutes. People were drenched with sweat.

It's unfortunate that many people judge the pleasantness of their flight by how long it is delayed. I get it-it's totally understandable; In some way shape or form, an airline is responsible for getting you from point A to point B and how smoothly (or not) is part of behind the scenes customer service. But I also understand things like natural disasters. To me, it's not how well your flight goes, but how well the airline handles the situation.

See: http://www.yelp.com/bi... for how NOT to handle service issues.

Lucky for me, Delta has always been kind to me-from JFK to ATL to Waikiki and back on our honeymoon, we had a perfectly comfortable flight with no delays. Most recently, we flew from JFK to LAS with no delays and our flight was early both going and coming.

The best part of Delta, though, is their online site that gives you a bajillion different combinations to choose from and I've always found cheaper flights on their direct website than anywhere else (orbitz, priceline, travelzoo, etc).

Delta is solid in my book.

I. Hate. Delta.

I will always have a thorn in my heart for this airline since they canceled flights out of New Orleans two days before Hurricane Katrina hit. So a bunch of poor shmos that were supposed to leave the Big Easy on that Saturday got stuck.

The second problem I had was when we were flying from NY to Charleston, SC. They canceled our 10am flight - but the next one wasn't until the next day. So we had to change airports, pay $150 switch fee and leave at 9pm. We also had to cough up more money to stay at a hotel that night when we got to Charleston at like 11pm. ARGGHHHH!!!!!!!!

Delta airlines brings the suck again.

Everyone knows flight delays are annoying but usually I can excuse weather or mechanical failure, those are unavoidable. Today I heard something completely inexcusable. "crew legality". Who f'd up?

Did our captain get arrested on a bender in vegas? Or was a crewmember deported? I've never heard of it before. Apparently, crew can only work a certain amount of hours before a required break of a set duration so the crew that arrived last night was too late to take off this morning.

I'm sorry but that's the dumbest excuse I've ever heard. Delta had at least 8 hours to fix this and their solution was a delay. Why make an effort to honor the contract of service you entered into with all the passengers when you can just be lazy? Moving a rested crew to the early flight and moving this crew to the later flight would satisfy passengers, we can't have that.

What's worse is when someone spoke to a supervisor she told him in the future, call the night before and have them put you on a different carrier at no charge.

Information that may have been useful before I arrived at the airport.

Well I know which airline I won't be using anymore. If they're this incompetant in scheduling I don't want to test their flying ability.

On a scale of one to ten, delta is right around dead to me.

I wish I could give this airline no stars whatsoever.  Warning, this will be a long review because this just happened to me.

Things were just fine at first when I booked my roundtrip ticket.  About 3 days before I was supposed to leave, Delta changed my itinerary.  So, coming back, my husband and I were not to sit next to each other (about 10 rows apart!)  I tried to go online to change our seats, but there was NOTHING available for us to do that.

[Mind you, we don't travel all too much, and I've never had a problem with other airlines until I flew with Delta. So, we don't know what to do if there are problems.]

So, we call customer service to request a change in our seating.  The man said that there's nothing they can do right now because they overbooked the flight, since they're merging with Northwest.  He said that he suggests that I go to the airport within 24 hours before my flight and highly suggested I go exactly 24 hours before, so it's as early as possible, so that I can talk to the agent to get my seat changed.  And then said, "the only thing we can do is apologize for the inconvenience."  Okay fine.

So, I get to the airport EXACTLY 24 hours before my flight, and I go directly to an agent that was walking around helping people.  She told me that I had to wait in this LONG line.  Okay fine, so we wait in line.  We wait about an hour.  When we finally get to the counter, the woman said "you waited this whole time for this particular problem?"  I told her yes, and she asked me who told me to come to the airport 24 hours prior.  I told her customer service did, and she said "I don't know why they told you that because there is nothing I can do about that.  You have to talk to the Delta agent at the gate to try to get your seat changed."  At this point, we were PISSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  We wasted our time and our money on the cab going to and coming back from the airport for this!

Next day comes, we go to the gate.  Turns out there were FIVE OTHER couples experiencing the same problem of not being able to sit with their significant others.  They gave us all the same line "we have overbooked the flight.  All we can do is apologize for the inconvenience."

There was a 30-minute delay.  Honestly, I never mind delays, just as long as I get to my destination.  But with what I experienced, it just added to our fire.

[A few of my friends told me that they've had problems with Delta's overbooking and sometimes didn't even get a seat on the plane!  Why are they overbooking their flights?!]

NEVER EVER EVER EVER AGAIN will I fly with Delta.

I will NEVER fly Delta again!! I just had to adjust my seat to get ready to write this review. I usually fly JetBlue but I found a good idea on Orbitz through Delta. When I arrived at LGA, there was a long line for security. It is all self check in and don't dare ask the women who work behind the computers to help because they are miserable and nasty. On my departing flight I was in the back of the plane...row 20. There were screaming children and seat moving and people on their cell phones before landing. They did not check to see if my seat belt was on and did not ask me to turn off my ipod. Strange! The bathrooms were dirty and disgusting on both flights. On my return trip home, I checked in online to save on my baggage check fees. When I got to the check in, they did not have me listed as paying so charged me twice and not the discounted rate. There was no management to help me and the attendants were unhelpful and impatient. This flight was not as bad but my neighbors seat was broken and the bathrooms were dirty again. All in all it was horrible. I will never fly them again and think they should go out of business. I felt unsafe and unaccommodated. Do yourself a favor and fly JetBlue always!!

Everytime I get stuck using them because they have the lowest fare I say to myself "never again"...well honestly I think I am done with LaGuardia Airport...so at least the Delta LaGuardia terminal can kiss my ass.

6pm flight...DELAYED until 7pm

ok that sucks...but whatever...I can read my book

7pm flight...DELAYED until 8pm

wtf??? Why not tell us this ahead of time...unprofessional tactics by the airline industry...they know if a plane will be delayed by 1 or 5 hours right away...giving this to us in small pieces is I guess there way of easing the pain of waiting around in their dank awful terminal.

ah finally...8pm...ok where do I check in sir...wait what?

8pm flight...DELAYED until 8:45pm

well at least it wasn't until 9pm...GRRRR...its a beautiful day out and I checked the weather in Chicago...nice as well...so why the fucking hold up?

8:45pm flight...DEL...nah we board...FINALLY

No apologies...no discounts...nothing...just get on our plain you stupid sheep like the caddle that you are and enjoy our  free peanuts and teeny tiny can of soda. You sure this flight is going to Chicago...because I feel like I am in heaven!

ugh...seriously though...avoid avoid avoid...LaGuardia's Delta terminal. Now while air travel may suck a big one at JFK and Newark...the service at LaGuardia is just a dirty swallowing whore.

I was very impressed overall with my experience of using Delta to fly to La Guardia.  The pilot was unusually friendly and descriptive, the flight was comfortable, and the A/C was powerful enough to even please me!  At La Guardia, however, I think it is crucial that they put a Hudson News Stand in the Delta terminal.  Aside from being La Guardia's best news stand, THEY SELL THE UNLIMITED MTA CARDS!  I had to take the A bus over to the Central Terminal Building to buy a metrocard before I took the Q33 bus out of there.  They definitely need to sell those cards in the Delta Terminal, it's a common necessity.  Foodwise, you got your Nathan's, you got Italian, you got Burger King, and a snazzy sports bar.  You'll be good on food.

Never mind the other review posted here.  In my case I was also delayed an hour flying into CVG, but I was informed of the delay ahead of time.  I always buy my reservations directly through http://Delta.com because the "cheap" sites like travelocity, etc.  will not notify you if your flight is even cancelled.  The airline is not responsible for contacting passengers that buy from these sites because in most cases these "cheap" sites do not disclose the passengers contact information.  Long story short, I experienced great customer service when I got to LGA from both the ticket counter and at the gates.  Personally Delta is my favorite airline hands down because I trust them and they also have the most destinations abroad and I love to travel.  Cheers!
