Cheap prices, but when I went there, it was very dirty. I went in to buy tomatoes, and a lot of them had started going bad and there were a ton of fruit flies buzzing around everything. The butcher counter also had a horrible smell to it.

The produce prices are the biggest attraction, they are typically 1/2 of what you would pay at the Jewel a block north. However, make sure you check the ripeness of the produce, especially if you don't plan to use it within the next day or two as I've noticed a few items are ripe or beyond ripe.
Decent selection of meats for a small grocer. I've only gotten one or two things and both have been decent.
Definitely worth the visit if you are in the neighborhood and need some produce.

Excellent produce, very fresh. LARGE meat department. Ethnic products too - lots of mexican stuff. Nice store!
Check out the great prices on produce after you come back from the nearby Foster Avenue Beach or while commuting from the Red Line. They have a selection of Hispanic foods and a deli and meat market as well. Your best values here are on the fresh fruits and vegetables that come straight from the farm.
Lots of produce, often cheaper than the big name supermarkets. Chicken, shrimp, and meat here is sometimes a really good deal too. Then I am tempted to buy some Mexican cookies or candies or pork rinds on my way to the checkout,...bags full of limes and chiles in hand.
Always a crowd here. Whenever I pass by this place, I always see people running in and out with full shopping carts.
