The wines are good, but Jodi made my visit here great! She was wonderful, funny, and very nice! I would love to come back just to visit her!

Review from Emily C.
Not only do they make great wines, but De Loach is a really progressive vineyard.
Many of their bottles are screwtop (yay!)
A few years ago they tore up a lot of their vines so they could start growing bio-dynamically!
They sell wine barrels, which are actually 3L or 5L barrels with a wine bag insert! Love it.
Visiting De Loach is a treat. The tasting room staff are really friendly and attentive without being imposing. De Loach is still relatively small and not commercial, so the tasting room is a little more intimate than some of the others in the area.
I really enjoyed all of the wines I tasted... they have a ton of Pinot Noirs, so if that's your wine, De Loach is a must stop. -

Came here with some friends who are wine club members and ended up visiting on a beautiful sunny winter day for a Zin party. The staff was pretty friendly though they didn't talk a lot about their wines unless you probed them and you had to remind them you were members to get tastings off the general list. Kind of understand since it was a bit busy.
Found some great deals and sat outside a bit with the pups to enjoy the sun and some grub.
They also had a food truck nearby serving yummy food that was much needed after all that wine. The fries were yummy, plus they had salads and other grilled food. I think they were called Street Eats. -

What a beautiful place this is. Great Wine and great service. My fav. is the Tawny...Sweet Sweet wine. My bf became a member here so we'll be drinking a lot more wine from them.

DeLoach was the first winery I visited in the Russian River Valley. It was a rainy March day and superbly cool and truly a great entre to visit this area as well as this winery. But since my first visit--I have never been able to get back to that feeling or experience--perhaps I need another rainy day March to make another visit. If you visit DeLoach other wineries are easy to visit on Olivet Road--which is as close as you can get to that Napa-esque experience (i.e. wineries relatively close together)
This winery specializes in Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Zinfandel. -

This winery focuses on Pinot Noir. And they do it well.
The grounds are beautiful with a nice area for a picnic, in fact we had planned on buying the picnic lunch advertised on their website. But even though I left a message the day before and one that morning, I didn't get a call back until after we had eaten lunch somewhere else. ( Eh, not a big deal really, we went to Corks at the Russian River Vineyards and it was excellent!) The tasting room is nice, warm and inviting. We tried most of their pinot noirs, and liked the one that was a 10 vineyard blend. It was very smooth and drinkable, a sitting-on-the-patio drinking wine.
The lady behind the counter was dead set on getting us to buy a cask for their boxed wine. (Eww you say, boxed wine? No really, it is good) We declined the cask saying we don't have room for something that big but we did buy the box of wine that is supposed to go inside it. You don't need the cask to pour it, it pours just like any other box of wine. And we could put that in our checked luggage and not pay for shipping, which is nice. And the box of wine is much cheaper than buying the same amount of wine in bottles.
I'm looking forward to opening the box of pinot noir, and dreading it too, as I know it will go fast, probably too fast! -

The grounds are beautiful and they had a really nice tasting room. We tasted at least 5 wines and thought they were good but not amazing, so we didn't buy anything. We did find out later that the owner of DeLoach married Gina Gallo a couple of years ago, which makes sense after the fact.

Nice tasting room, not too big, not too small. Great organic garden. Pretty picnic area. Check out the friendly chickens and goats.
Wines are uniformly good tasting, easy drinking.
Recently acquired by Boisse wine corporation which seems to have helped rather than hindered the winery and the wine quality.
I like the pinot noirs. De Loach makes a sizeable variety of them. Prices are mid to high. $45 / bottle for the good ones.
There are several good wineries on Olivet & Laguna roads here in western Santa Rosa. Visit this one. -

The wine tastes great. The experience on the vinyard is so-so. They are a bit chincy on knowledge sharing and pours. The worst part was the old man who was serving us wine - he had the worst breath I have EVER EVER EVER EVER smelled in my life. My husband walked out saying he couldn't taste the wine because the man's breath was so bad. Other couples were talking about it outside too. It was UNREAL. Now when I think of Deloach, I can't help it - I think of the old man's nasty breath and gag and giggle.

Very yummy yummy pinot noir. The property is very beautiful. The bottles are pricey but worth tasting. I ended up grabbing the tawny red wine (port). It was excellent with the chocolate cake for my mom's bday.

I think once a month everyone should head to a winery or wine shop, talk to someone about wine for at least 10 minutes, go home with a California bottle that you spend at least $25 on and enjoy it with cheese, fruit and great people.
There are a lot of poser wineries popping up, full of over self-conscious people trying to emulate the dude in Sideways who championed Pinot Noir. Sommelier's with no personality aside from the one caused by the stick up their bums...
But De Loach is an actually great winery with warm people who love wine. The Russian River Pinot Noir is fantastic, but the Zinfandel was my favorite. Like most places, the bottles they are tasting will be better in a year or two, but are damn good today. They also do great whites- I tend to turn my nose up at Chardonnay, but my mom bought 4 bottles recently after tasting it. I can't wait to head here again some weekend. -

I great tasting experience! Joanne helped us out, offering multiple side by side comparisons. They have a broad spectrum of price points, and even offer 3L boxes of some of their nice pinots - perfect for backpacking or the beach. They offer great deli snacks as well and have a beautiful patio area for lunch.

Despite the massive construction going on at DeLoach Vineyards currently, if you are visiting the Russian River Valley, the tasting room at DeLoach is just one of those places you MUST visit (yes, Korbel is nearby but I would choose pinot noir over champagne anyday of the week). Not only are the wines absolutely delish but the people in the tasting room are some of the friendliest people I've ever met! (major shout out to Lisa V!) If that isn't enough reason for you to visit, there are sheeps and chickens on the premise! Don't you just love to watch chickens and sheeps mingling as you sip your pinot?
I tasted 9 different wines during my tasting (I'm a huge wine-o!) and while I don't plan to talk about all of them, I'd like to highlight the ones that I've enjoyed:
When it comes to drinking rosé, I prefer something fruity, maybe because of its festive color? The '07 O.F.S Rosé had a really fruity nose. I could really smell the aroms of strawberry and watermelon as I sipped the wine. The OFS in the name stands for "Our Finest Selection" but in the case of this rosé, and DeLoach's other OFS offerings including the chard and the zin, I would say the OFS stands for "Oh F*cking Sh*it (I'm totally loving these and I would totally bathe in these wines if I had enough cash to buy cases after cases)."
I consider myself somewhat of a new-age wine drinker, and I often find myself shying away from old world wines (thank you but I'm not ready to enjoy wines that taste like my new pre-distressed leather boots). However, I found the buttery (almost almond-ish) texture in the '06 Golden Coast Chardonnay to be surprisingly pleasant and warm. I'm still having a hard time trying to figure out what kind of foods I would pair with this particular chard, but it is definitely something I would pick up to enjoy after dinner.
Of course, it would be a crime to review DeLoach Vineyards and not talk about their Pinot Noir. I tried the '07 Russian River Valley Pinot and the '07 Masút Vineyard Pinot, and of the two, I enjoyed the Masút a little bit more, just because the tannins were more apparent. But that doesn't mean I would turn down the RRV Pinot, as I thought it was a well-balanced wine!
I would definitely love to visit DeLoach again (hopefully sometime soon) and taste more wines that I didn't have a chance to taste the first time around! -

I received a message regarding my review from the lady who had been rude. At first I was like, "oh boy, this is going to be good". I expected to be lectured about how busy they were and it wasn't her fault blah, blah blah. But no, she apologized for her behavior and did not make excuses. I greatly appreciated that and that definitely changed my first impression that I had. I see no reason why I will not revisit DeLoach during next year's barrel tasting.

Awesome place to taste and relax the day away.
While we were tasting in the area we stopped by here. A huge plus is they are making their way to certified organic farming so there is a beautiful consciousness here for the preservation of our air, soil and future while making their incredible wines.
The tastings are generous and our helper, Judy, was what made our experience. She was great. Good energy, good laughs and there was no bullshit from her. Just a true love of the wine and that gets showcased in her work.
Bottles are average about $30+ so mildly pricey depending on your preference. Their reserve Pinot is amazing.
Beautiful grounds to sit and relax under the beautiful redwoods. Fresh parking lot and beautiful flowers overlook the typical Sonoma valley landscape. A true picturesque place to relax.Listed in: Wine Tasting

A beautiful vineyard with an organic passion for Pinot, and they do it well. Nice tasting room although was a bit busy for late in the day on a Tuesday.
We ended up picking up a couple bottles of port and truffles.
I'd like to go back when we have more time. -

I usually like their wines & usually like the experience.
Today there was a big, rather unorganized sale with some amazing deals & likely, some excellent wines.
However, we ended up with a different wine than we intended to purchase but discovered that it tasted rather similar to sauternes... -

The waiter at Dry Creek told us his Dad worked here and he gave us a free tasting voucher. I loved their wine - the honey did not. She's a chardonnay girl and that's pretty much it.
I loved this place - the room , the courtyard, the large selection of wines, the individual attention we got from a doe-eyed Virginian.Listed in: "eat drink and be merry, for…

this was the 2nd to last stop my Aunt and cousin made before heading to Korbel. And between those water crackers and Zinfandel ... goodness. i found myself on a whirlwind of a trip with this charming older woman who cracked me up the moment she poured my Chardonnay!! i looooved her personality!! i believe her name was Judi .. ah, Judi. you totally made the experience for me. Salvatore carried on with her as he made all the different suggestions. and for some reason, my cousin and I wanted pie.
yes, i said pie. any kind of pie. and they suggested Mom's Apple Pie. and i was like "duh, my momz is the best..." and Judi says "no, darling . .MOM'S .. it's a restaurant, god you're wasted =)" .. and points me in the direction of the place as my cousin and i try to interpret her directions but i swear to you, i couldn't comprehend it. thank you, Zinfandel. it's all your fault.
I walked out with the Nova Zinfandel, which i had my eye on since i walked in ... but i LOVED the Porter-Bass Chardonnay, that would have been my 2nd choice. mMm =) i shall be back for another complimentary wine tasting with those lovely little crackers in the little ramekins ...
they got a cute little patio out front too with this huge metal constructed bunny .. i'm not sure what the purpose of him being there was, but it was kinda cute?
oh and that apple pie?!?! hella on point!!! =) -

I'm a big fan of the DeLoach philosophy of making high quality Chardonnay and Pinot Noir (two grapes that can be hard to work with) at affordable prices. In fact, they're some of the best values in the Northern California Wine Country.
I'm also a big fan of DeLoach, the place. (I should mention here that they sell my cookbook, Fork Me, Spoon Me, in the tasting room-and it is their best-selling book!) But beyond my personal connection, DeLoach offers a welcoming experience in a very pretty environment. They even have a new program where you can purchase a picnic basket and enjoy your wine with food on the perfectly groomed lawn.
DeLoach is certified biodynamic and their care for the land extends well beyond the lawns and herb gardens in the tasting room environs. -

I'd have to say this was my most memorable winery I visited after the 7 we went to.
Nice indoor setting, great people, and beautiful courtyard. The different wines we tried were not my favorite, but everyone else really liked them. It could be because I was the driver and could only have a tad bit and my taste buds were completely in tact, but I'll try it again and next time I'll take a limo.
I highly recommend this location for the friendliness and nice pour. :)
Cheers! -

Thank goodness we came here after Pellegrini. We spent more time taking pictures of the Pellegrini grounds than we did tasting their mediocre wine. As our last stop for the day, DeLoach picked up the slack and exceeded my expectations. The woman helping us was super friendly and the wines delivered. The landscaping here is very picturesque as well so we stayed and ate our picnic lunch.
Purchased Wine:
06 Porter-Bass Chard
06 Maboroshi Pinot
07 Nova Zin -

Really busy winery. We walked into the room and there were pulled pork sandwiches being served. Pinots were good.
There were a couple of art pieces. I don't remember exactly, but I think it was a metallic rabbit or something. Other people took pictures of it. There was also a metal statue we took a picture in front of. Yes, that's about it. I also didn't buy anything here, but it was all good. -
Review from Liz E.
They have some REALLY nice pinot noirs here. I wish that we hadn't already purchased a pinot elsewhere on the day that we visited! (Don't get me wrong -- that pinot was also really good.)
Broad selection. They do the usual thing of waiving the tasting fee if you buy a bottle. If you arrive at the right time (no crowds, I think?), you might even find that the limit on the number of wines included in the flight is non-existent. ($10 theoretically gets you a taste of 4 or 5 on a normal day.)
Sauvignon blancs were also good. The two we tried were very different from each other, but both tasty. Bought one as a gift.
No dessert wines, unfortunately. Always one of my favorite things to compare...
Tours are closed during the December season, at very least. Not sure when they reopen. Would happily go back to find out! -

This was our first stop on our barrel wine tasting tour. We came to the Russian River Barrel tasting last year and knew we had to stop at Sunce, so I decided to start our tour off right next door at De Louch. I'm so happy that we did. Everyone that worked there was so nice. There were 2-3 nice women helping our group check in and get our wrist bands. They even had a raffle for a Magnum Pinot Noir.
Inside there were about 5-6 barrel tastings and just as many out of the bottle. There was a table w/ lots of cheese and sliced bread. Around the wine and food the place was really crowded but there was definitely space to just hang around and socialize. De Loach was a perfect way to start off the day! -

Pinots galore! They had some really quality pinots here. There were many to try and choose from. So if you are a fan of the pinot noir, you will love this place.
The service in the tasting room was A+. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Took time to explain a lot of details to us, it was like having our own personal sommelier. -

Beautiful tasting room! Their people are gentle and helpful.
Their wine selections are ok in my opinion. I picked up a bottle of Forgotten Vines Zinfandel, which I liked the most. (But I'm a sucker for Zin so I could be biased.) -

I did like their wines but I found the staff here to be a bit pretentious. I had called a couple days before for a tour and the lady I spoke with was going on about how great their wines are and asked how I heard about the winery. When I answered Yelp she sounded confused then added "Well, I'm sure you'll enjoy our wines. They're expensive too." oooookay...
When we arrived for the tour I noticed there was quite a crowd in the tasting room and we were the youngest couple there by far. I mentioned we had a tour and was then met by an older gentleman who quickly went through the property with us. It was interesting to hear they would be bottling organic wine within four years but the whole tour was very rushed and I felt like I was taking too much of the guy's time.
I did warm up to the place after awhile (probably from drinking so much during the tasting) and I ended up getting a bottle of the Maboroshi Pinot and the Forgotten Zin. -

great wines, fun tasting room. they do charge, but only $10 for five tastings, and if you buy something, it goes towards the purchase. So, you're really getting a good deal. they let us taste more than the five allowed.
we had an older woman who was pouring for us, she was definitely the highlight of deloach, very funny.
deloach also has very amusing descriptions of their wines, comparing the taste of some to leather, and the forest floor :) -

Their wines are nice and the outdoor picnic area is beautiful but I can't stand to do tastings here. The tasting room honestly smells like fertilizer and band-aids. Perhaps that's brettanomyces? The people working there are super nice but even the wine and service won't get me to chill in their tasting room for too long. Could they have a tasting table outside? I would totally love this place then.

Don't like the name. Nice grounds though. Enjoyed the wine, nothing exciting. Mostly pinots. Took home the cab for 30ish dollars. Friendly pourers.

Excellent wines, free tasting, and super knowledgeable folks pouring for you. The young man behind the counter was so excited to tell us all about where the grapes are grown, what makes them so special, and the history of the winery and vineyards. I just eat that stuff up. Great wine tasting, without any of the snooty attitude and Napa crowds.

I think what I liked the most about this place was the people working there. They are knowledgeable and really work to make sure you are having a great experience. There are 3 "flights" for various fees that you can do when tasting. However, they don't ask for you to pay first, so you just let them know what you want to try. DeLoach has several different varietals available. They are grouped into 3 categories/flights (think high, middle, low). The woman suggested that we try different flights so we could compare and contrast the various Pinot Noirs, Chardonnays, Zinfandels, etc. This is what we like to do anyway, so it was great to have the option offered to us. I have no idea how many we tried, but it was way over the "maximum" listed. Honestly, only a few of the wines really jumped out at me as being special, but none were bad. Overall, a superb winery.

Great great great experience here during both my visits! They charge for tastings but that fee is applied to your purchase. My companion and I opted for the reserve tasting and the wines ranged from delicious to fantastic. Their Pinot Noirs were the clear standouts (un-coincidentally, they specialize in this varietal). The woman who helped us was very generous and friendly. She poured more wines than were alloted to us and gave us each bottles of water after we were done! The grounds were nice as well.

This has to be my FAVORITE winery! The people are so kind. They le you tast almost every wine they have and it is for FREE! You don't have to worry about alot of tourists like in Napa. This place is tucked away near the Russian River. They also sell their port there. It is AMAZING! Youhave to head out this way when wine tasting!

Overall, their wines are very good. I recommend tasting their pricier wines as the cheaper wines are readily available at Safeway. However, they are a good deal as well. I loved their Forgotten Vines Zin on a recent visit but I did find our pourer a little pushy when it came to making a purchase.

We are wine club members at this joint for good reason. Their wine is delicious! Visiting their winery is fun because they have a full page front and back of wines to try - so no limitations on trying a variety of wines. Mainly pinots and chards but they have some zins and other varietals as well that are worth a taste. They have a great picnic area w/ horseshoes and everyone brings their dogs so A+ on the family/dog friendliness. Their wines are also priced well. Nice folks behind the bar.

Pinot Noir is king here, and they do it right. Cool tasting room. We chose to do their red-only flight. Tasted the '07 Green Valley, the '06 Maboroshi and the '06 Van Der Kamp. The Maboroshi was perfect as is. The others were good, but a tad young. Will definitely go back.

The wine was decent and the building looked nice, however the tasting room could've been a little larger for all the space they seem to have. Nothing really blew me away, but the pinot and cab were nice enough...
