i have never had a hair cutter ask me to check a haircut halfway through instead of waiting til the end. that alone is worth 4 stars. the fact that it was a better cut than ones i've paid $100 for and cost only $42 made it worth 5. tatiana was lovely and gave me the exact haircut i wanted! i will definitely be back.

Their location might seem a wee bit sketchy at first glance(on 4th ave right by the Union Street train subway stop), but the interior is everything you would expect from a high-class salon, and smells really nice (not like some of the nasty more chemical-smelling places I've been).

I just moved to the city and was desperate to find an affordable but nice hair salon - and I think I found it! Leila was my hairdresser, and I really clicked with her - she's not overly chatty, really listens to what you tell her, makes suggestions but definitely does not try to 'take over' your hair.

I had my hair (blonde, wavy) cut and the style changed somewhat, and have received only compliments afterwards - it also seems to be growing out well (yelping 2 weeks later).

Leila also styled my hair very nicely and without leaving you with that feeling of product-drenched hair salon hair.

They are not super-busy and are nice about fitting people in - walk-ins are welcome I think, but make an appointment to be sure, especially during more popular times.

I was a bit sad that there wasn't really any head-massage component to the hair-wash, but I guess you can't have everything. Especially at the price, which is totally reasonable. I am planning on going for some highlights in the near future, will update on that when i do.

Note: They offer 5% off if you pay with cash, and tips they can ONLY accept in cash - so stop by the ATM beforehand if you want to avoid the embarrassing no-cash-for-tip scenario I had to endure.

I had the worst experience here earlier this year - should have reviewed it then, but maybe it's better that I didn't.  I'm a pretty mellow person and the entire experience really pissed me off.  I left feeling like I paid to get tortured in grandma's house.  I only wish that was an ironic/sarcastic comment.

I decided to check it out as fellow Yelpers gave good reviews on price and liked their experience/cuts.  Sadly, I had poor service (and I was one of two customers in the middle of a Saturday afternoon), got a wire brush yanked through my tangled wet hair (super ow, I actually had to ask she use a plastic comb), she kept making me play musical chairs (wtf?? I don't know either), she argued with me most of the time and the best part: I surely didn't save any money as the price that I confirmed over the phone when making my reservation was "changed and there's nothing we can do about it".   Grrr.

Thumbs down.  Zero stars, if I could.

As a fellow butchered mens head of hair, ohh please mayor, make a small Hair Police Force HPF, sounds good already, and fits with the  governments love of acronym creations, I'm dead serious, wow.

Please close ASAP, or hang up a sign 'girls only' to do the least, or start charging $15, why $30? it makes you sound good, PLEASE how are you guys sleeping at night?, or are you Delilah peeps in denial completely, what are you fellows thinking, man? wow. After kindly pointing out some adjustments to be done, you think the stylist understood? when i saw the disaster in the double mirror after, I locked my smile [to cover my pain smile] I paid, ran out on 4th Avenue like Tom from Tom and Jerry, I appreciated the pity looks from the two girls sitting and waiting which silently confirmed with my pain.

I can't write anymore, man where are the solid men stylists for under $50, please come out!! [i hate writing 1stars, but i wanna read all of them] wow I'm deeply disturbed, please if you see me this week, you didn't and don't see me!

I can't recall such a horrible haircut, slaughtering a head of hair with so much confidence, wow. It shall be crowned FURY ON FOURTH!!

I have been going to Delilah (the owner)  for over a year now on a friends recommendation and every time I am over the moon with my haircut. However, this week I got both a cut and highlights and I REALLY REALLY LOVE IT!!!! I was being very indecisive when I arrived and Delilah sat down with hair books and seemed very excited to find just the "right haircut". When I walked into work the next day everyone I passed were stopping me with continuous compliments and this has lasted all week. People were asking for business cards and the name of my hairdresser. Delilah really is the best... (and incredibly affordable!!)

I see that there are some bad reviews. Hmm. I know I had a good experience. The stylist, Marc, corrected my previous stylist's mistakes and was SUPER quick. Usually, most places in Manhattan a-burn my scalp 2-give me horrible chunky highlights that look bad one month down the line and/or d-take several hours.
I was in and out within 1 hour. Win. I love efficient stylists. I highly recommend.

I read other reviews and decided to go get my hair cut from Marc.  He was great!  I never would have walked into the salon on my own so I am glad I checked out Yelp.
My blonde hair was in horrible condition, I had severely damaged ends (about two inches).  Marc treated my hair like some little puppy he had to rescue.  Lots of my hair was cut off   to leave a brand new healthy style.  My cute bob is super easy to maintain, my hair is shiny and healthy again, and it swings so nicely.  I would go back in a second to see Marc.  He also gives 'on the side' advice on how to give your hair treatment that won't break the bank.  I hate it when stylists push products on you and here he was giving me drugstore secrets!

I'm sorry, Delilah. Even though you accommodated me without an appointment, and although everyone was friendly, I didn't pay for good conversation. I asked for a cut that I didn't think was uncommon-- an angled bob, slightly shorter in the back. I also showed him a picture, which he glanced at briefly and didn't reference again, so I assumed he knew what he was doing. It got pretty awkward when he finished because (before I had a chance to say anything) he kept insisting it was indeed shorter in the back. As if he was trying to convince himself.

So, no biggie...hair grows back and I will deal with my pyramid-shaped head until then. Point is, I took a risk by straying from my usual salon and learned my lesson. Perhaps you will be more successful here if you're just getting a trim?

Leila is gradually turning me blonde. But she has her work cut out for her, because when I landed in her chair last week, a buildup of black dye, the hardest to remove, as well as some red DIY = FAIL highlights were waiting for her. She explained to me that she didn't want to fry my hair, but would return the base color to its natural brown and do subtle caramel highlights.

The outcome was gorgeous! The color is much more natural and has golden brown highlights, embodying a sun-kissed look appropriate for summer. She gave me the option of returning to get even blonder highlights, or just letting nature and the sun do its trick.

Once again, an excellent experience at Delilah's!  I popped in the other day to talk about what to do for my wedding day and Leila was excellent at helping me talk to the process.  When we both figured out that my idea of creating an updo by myself the day of probably wasn't going to happen and add extra stress, she gave the excellent advice of adding some color to my hair for extra shine and giving it a sexy and easily style-able cut.  I walked out of there a few hours later with an excellent color, super-shiny hair and a sexy bob that matches my persona and wedding dress perfectly.  I am so psyched that I don't have to worry about futzing with my hair on my wedding day and that I have a style that will look great for the honeymoon.  Many many thanks.

Great, amazingly priced highlights, and a great haircut. I did not get scammed like other places in the slope. Leila was great, and did an awesome job helping me choose my shades and cleaning up my cut. It's really one of the best color jobs I've had done in the city - regardless of the pricetag.

Will definitely definitely go back.

I love this place. I am always delighted with my cuts and the price is really hard to beat. (Plus it's right on the R... yay?) I am seriously considering continuing to get my hair cut here in the future in spite of the minor issue that I'm moving to Philadelphia on Friday. The only (mild) problem I've experienced here is that by the afternoon everybody tends to be running pretty late, so bring a book.

I have long curly brown hair that has gray and my last stylist really did a number on my hair.  So I was determined to fix it.  Leila hooked me up and I just went back for a touch up and cut.  Leila was out but Tatiana did just as good of job.  I highly recommend trying this place if you want good service at no crazy prices.

My friend and I went there just today for her haircut. She was conflicted between a pixie cut and getting a bob.
The stylist was very patient and friendly and my friend ended up getting the bob cut she truly wanted (and looked amazing)
Random people started talking to us and were friendly and courteous
The pricing is reasonable and I love the coziness of this place.
It's easily missed which makes it a diamond in the rough, though it's right in front of the train station.
I'm going to return here for my OWN haircut perhaps.

Tatiana did a great job cutting my hair. For once, I had no trouble getting a stylist to understand what I wanted. The price was awesome, too - $47 for a cut/style/blow dry!

I am definitely happy with this place.  Today was my first time here- I took a gamble because of the great reviews, and it panned out.  The owner wasn't in, but nonetheless the woman who did the highlights was terrific.  she asked me what I wanted, spent a few minutes going over the colors with me.  I was nervous- adding in golden blonde highlights can be tricky, I've had it before where it turned out looking really trashy.  I wanted natural, thin highlights, 1 and 2 shades lighter than my actual hair color.  That is what I got, and I'm definitely excited that my hair came out looking nice.  This place doesn't seem to be artsy- I decided against letting her snip at my long hair- but with the color I knew what I wanted and she really listened to me and delivered.

Went here based on all the great reviews. Delilah did my hair, and while she was great, she didn't beat Nari at Hair Kuwayama for cutting. I'll be going back though, perhaps just for color.

Fantastic!  Leila at Delilah gave my curls a great cut -- she was friendly yet efficient, and even my husband will be pleased with the price ($42 -- I'm used to paying more like $70).  It's not a five-star salon experience -- 4th Ave is just not attractive and the interiors won't blow you away, but the salon is neat and serviceable and I'd be comfortable recommending it to all but my most discerning friends (and they probably wouldn't leave Manhattan for a cut anyway).  Thanks to Yelpers for their recommendation.

Note: Leila's going to be on leave for July & August so book now if you want her in particular.

Got a pretty good hair cut, my only complaint is that it came out a bit shorter than I wanted it to be.

Best thing about the place is the price, cost me 40$ for a hair cut (starting at 35, but I had very long hair).

I have really thick wavy/curly hair and always have a hard time finding stylists that can cut it correctly with out making it poofier than it already is.

My hair was down to the middle of my back and I was totally sick of it almost cutting it off myself when I went to Delilah's.  After reassuring Tatiana several times that it was OK to chop it off, she did a great job!  I was really impressed and have gone back to get a trim.

The salon is clean, staff is friendly.  Great place for an inexpensive trim or traditional cut.

I'm happy to report that the hairstyle gods forgave me for going so so long between haircuts.
After being a little less than satisfied with the last haircut I got at Lilah's former employer, Le Chandelier, I entered into a period of long and kind of straggly hair, but Lilah helped me out of this rut once and for all. She gave me exactly the haircut I wanted and I've been getting compliments ever since. Aside from being confident and talented with a pair of scissors, Lilah's sweet and friendly too (but without being overly chatty, which I totally appreciate).
The salon is well-decorated (nice and classy), and the Mediterranean music that was playing relaxed me and transported me away from bustling (and occasionally icky) 4th Ave.
All this, and great prices too--Hooray.

Leila does a terrific job.  After my cut I inevitably receive a compliment.  This place is really excellent, and really inexpensive.  I have short hair and really can't justify paying $80 to have someone trim off less than an inch.  Give it a go and you won't be disappointed.  Also, her shampoo person really does a great job!  Love the head massages!

I agree with the bulk of the earlier reviews.  This place is truly a hidden gem.  If I hadn't researched Park Slope hair salons, I would have walked right by it those rare times when I'm on 4th Ave.  Leila, the salon owner, really took her time with me using of-the-moment techniques like texturizing, and gave me a great cut incorporating the celeb photo I had brought in as a guide into my existing cut.  It has grown out  really well, and I will definitely be back.

I needed a hair cut and Delilah delivered. This is one of the best haircuts I've had in ages. Marc or Michael (I'm pathologically terrible with names) knew what I needed and delivered well. I left the salon feeling great and enjoying my new hair. Will definitely make this my go to place.

Desperately needing a haircut, I came across this place by accident through Yelpers' reviews. I made an appointment for the next day with Tatiana not knowing what I wanted or what to expect. I knew I was sick of my long, thick, curly hair, but didn't know what to do about it. Tatiana made some suggestions, which I appreciated, and gave me some layers. The haircut itself wasn't anything to write home about and surely nothing that hadn't been done before but she did a good job with it. She offered to layer it some more free of charge if I decided later in the week that I wanted more layers-- which gave her an extra star. Would go back for another desperate hairstyle/cut but will probably stick to Supercuts for a trim.

I walked in with a mess on my noggin' and no time to dawdle as my BFF was getting married in less than a week!  Alas I am a beauty school dropout who trusted a box when it said "subtle caramel highlights" - which actually meant "look like Crazy Harry from the Muppets." Enter Leila...it took four hours and a good chunk of change..but when she spun my chair around I had exactly the highlights I yearned for.  I gave that Greek goddess a hug and the solemn oath that I would spread her good name far and wide!

I finally found a wonderful and affordable salon convenient to me in Brooklyn!! I can't say enough good things about Delilah - I've had my hair cut and colored by both Tatiana and Leila, and they are incredibly talented, attentive, really the best. Manhattan style with 4th Avenue Brooklyn down-to-earth attitude and prices.

Wonderful highlights and great cuts on for a reasonable price in Park Slope! Leila actually listens to requests and doesn't insist on cutting all of my hair off. Her layers actually work with my hair -- a minor miracle in my book. On top of all this, she's incredibly accommodating. We decided to go extra blonde for the summer and she promised that, if it turned out to be too much, she'd happily tone it down. I've never actually felt that, at a salon, I could say something if I didn't like a result, but she was cool about it and fixed it. Another bonus is the product lines she uses -- generally low chemical and high quality.
