My wife and I happened to be walking past and decided to stop in as we were both hungry.  We got the gyro plate. I have to say it was the best gyro plate I have ever had. The meat was super good, there was a large portion side so that my wife and I easily split it and didn't need anything else.

As a bonus, the guy running the place was incredibly nice and turned our food around very quickly.

    I will definitely be back.

The staff here is super nice. They greet you at the door, and they just are all-around friendly, which is rare these days.
Considering they were so nice, I almost feel bad saying the food is meh. I had the lamb gyro, and it was just okay. I've had worse, but I've also had better. The flavor just wasn't cutting it, and the texture was really really soft.
I really liked that they had wireless internet, though. That's a huge plus.

boo! I recently came up to visit a friend in Seattle and we wanted to try something new, we were disappointed at best. I am just glad this is a product of Seattle and not Portland, but then again Portland has taste and knows that powdered kraft wannnabe cheese does not fall under the "good taste" category!

Thanks Portland, for keeping the junk out and P-Town superior!

The "owner comment" below shows how well this establishment is willing to receive fair feedback.  Yes, I ordered from you twice - to give you another chance!  Yelp is for reviews - whether they are poor or awesome - it is to put the word out about our experiences with whatever services we use... to encourage others to use them too (or in this case, to warn them not to!)  If it weren't about honesty, why do we have the 1 and 2 star options?  This isn't T-Ball, Deli Shez, not everyone is a winner.

You are most definitely mistaking me for someone else, though, because I didn't order a third time and I have no idea what coupon you're referring to (both times I ordered online and paid in full - including a 15% tip for your incompetent driver).  I'm sure I'm not the only unhappy customer (see below two-star reviews as well) - so you should probably look out for the review from the person you are mistaking me for so that you can show the Yelp world, once again, that you probably shouldn't be in the restaurant business because you can't take criticism.

I'm sure no one will be surprised, at this point, that you told another one of your customers to "fuck off" after they spent money on your poor excuse for Mediterranean cuisine.

Worried about gas money? Don't deliver.

Maybe you should spend your time creating a pleasurable dining experience instead of ranting at your paying customers on the internet.  Create food you don't have to explain or try and convince me to like just because it's local/pays for your school/makes the paper... etc.  The point is: if it tasted good, we wouldn't hate it.  It doesn't, though, so we do.  And we hate your slow service and your poor-sport attitude too.

Deli Shez Cafe is one of the best local places to grab a quick bite. Whether you eating their homemade falafel, tziki, or Babaganoush, you are certainly in for a treat. Large portions combined with amazing service make this place a favourite spot for me during the week. The owner is so nice too, and helps me practice my Arabic.

I found Deli Shez through Grubhub when I was feeling lazy about ordering lunch over the phone.  Internet ordering was a luxury I got used to while living in Chicago and the lack of great options here by comparison shocks me.  Anyway, onto my review of Shez.

The veggie gyro was tasty and I would give the place four stars for the flavor of that item.  However, the veggie platter was very disappointing.  Everything was in one box which looked like it had been put in a paint can mixing machine.  Hummus and baba ganoush everywhere.  The falafel was okay, but in general the rest was really lackluster and visually unappealing in its post-tornado appearance.  The rice was very clumpy.  Also, 1 piece of store bought pita bread for the entire platter?  Wack.

Anyway, if I have a hankering for a veggie gyro and Italian soda then I will hit these cats up.  I'll skip the rest of the menu and play it safe.

I frequently find myself at the bus stop near this cafe, and recently found myself thirsty and with some time to handle that "issue" before my bus arrived.

Their Italian Soda wasn't super-fantastic, but it was tasty and fulfilled my craving for one. The owner was very cheerful and funny. Great person to exchange several words with and have a few laughs!

I am looking forward to trying the food sometime.

This was the very first place my boyfriend and I went to, when we finally relocated here from the east coast.
My boyfriend had a gyro sandwich and I had a falafel sandwich.
When I saw the meat on the spinning thing (no idea what it's called) it was a little weird, because it looked like a big block of pate, it was that finely mushed and pale. I'm used to seeing chunks of sliced wheels on top of each other and some grill burns on the edges but maybe that's an east coast/European thing? Not sure.
My boyfriend said it wasn't that good and won't order that again.
My falafel sandwich was alright. I mean, it tasted like falafel, it was just a little dry but that happens quick and I'm very forgiving :)

After that, I tried to get my boyfriend to go there again and try something else, but he was so turned off that he refused to go there again.
As for me, I wanted to give DSC another try so I went by myself and got their veggie combo. Falafel, dolmades, hummus, salad, baba ganouj and yellow rice.
The hummus was delicious with the salad, didn't like the baba ganouj. It looked like chunky mayonnaise and the taste was a little pungent like it was old. Then the dolmades. They tasted as if they came from a jar. Filling was too mushy and the leaves too raw. The rice...well the rice was ok, but it's just rice. The falafel. Hm. This time the falafel was fried too long to the point it was hard. I threw it against the wall in my motel room and it stayed in tact. No really, I did. I just couldn't believe I couldn't poke my fork in it and when I picked it up with my hand I just -had- to test it. When I broke another piece open, it was way too dry and I had a bite of that and threw it out.
I don't like wasting food, but this was inedible.

It saddens me to leave this kind of a review, because the owner is a really nice guy and very friendly. But unfortunately those traits don't fill my belly.

I was starving and looking for a place to eat and work for a bit. I had the lamb gyro plate and it was exactly what I needed plus it tasted awesome.

The plate was heaped with lots of tasty tender lamb meat, a salad, seasoned rice, a little hummus and babaganouj, and a large piece of pita bread. Plus the pita bread was thin and double sided like it is supposed to be and not the fluffy spongey stuff you get at some spots around town. Well worth the $9.

Small cafe with 3 tables and small window bar. Serving sandwiches panini style... and I mean all sandwiches. I ordered a gyro and was horrified to see a perfectly soft and pliable pita mashed (not once, not twice, but three times) into a panini press in an attempt to warm it? turn it into a mushy tortilla? obliterate the texture?

With more lettuce than meat it was more of a yogurt salad wrap than a gyro.

It was well wrapped and easy to eat on the go... but next time I will try other establishments in the area.

Free wifi, friendly service, good food, totally reasonable price.  They also have espresso that I'll have to try next time.  For 15 bucks, we got:

    Lamb & Beef Gyro
    Falafel Gyro
    Baklava
    2 drinks

The owners are brothers from Lebanon and super friendly.  After going back a few times, he even threw in a baklava for free!  Yay!

The Baklava is SO GOOD.  Tons of flaky little pastry layers sopping with sugary syrup and nuts.

The Gyros were also very good and freshly made.  I wolfed mine down.  I know they offer paninis but you can't go wrong sticking with the gyro!

After 4+ hours at the I-5 Bike Skills Park, we needed a place with free wifi, coffee and FOOD!

Small place, good coffee, FANTASTIC Gyros and roasted chicken sandwhiches...I ate mine so fast the owner hooked me up with a rice crispy treat.  All that riding made me super hungry.

I would definitely come back for the sando.  Inexpensive and delicious.

Do not go here! The man that delivered my food told me to "fuck off", because when he tried calling from the building security call box the call failed and I didn't get it. I called him when the call went straight to voice mail and came right down. The man claims he is the owner, and he will never get my business again.

This place was downright tasty, accept for the fact that when I ordered two Gyros Plates I was given only one and then almost got yelled at by the guy behind the counter because of the mix up - I ordered two DUDE! But then he felt bad and gave us extra pita. Note the gyros plates are HUGE so you really can split one between you and a friend. I will definitely be back :)

Deli Shez is a friendly, little, neighborhood cafe that also happens to serve traditional breakfast sandwiches & middle eastern food. I think the food is 3 stars, but the friendliness & neighborhood feel of the place makes it 4 stars. I know I will be going back for more. We had:

    - Greek Salad: Fresh & tasty. The olives were regular black olives instead of kalamata (dang it) but the feta cheese was Lebanese (cool) and yummy. The herbed dressing was really good (and I don't normally like dressing on my salads). The large size was decent - add a side of rice or pita/tzatiki and it would make a regular sized meal. Of course, I added the Veggie Combo Platter to make a giant sized meal.
    - Veggie Combo Platter: An assortment of the vegetarian sides Deli Shez has to offer: hummus, baba ghanoush, rice, dolmas, falafel, salad. The baba ghanoush was not good, I think it had gone rancid/bad. The falafel was clearly not fresh, had a very dry consistency, and no flavor - avoid these (which is too bad because I do love falafel balls). The yellow rice was just okay, a little on the dry side & not enough spice. The hummus was standard, good enough. I really really liked the dolmas - the inside filling of rice had a lot of spice & vinegar flavor, the grape leave wrapping was very soft, and the olive oil coating them was yummy. In the future, instead of ordering the platter I would opt for a side of dolmas.
    - Lamb Gyro, Chicken Gyro: My friend ordered these. One gyro is rather small, so definitely don't expect to make a meal of it. He liked the lamb one more than the chicken. I was a little disappointed that the Gyro's didn't come with french fries (which I became quite used to in Greece).

this is really a three and a half star review.

came here with a couple peeps.  its pretty small and the tables are a little wobbly, but that only adds to the experience.  the guy at the counter is really nice and he literally went out of his way, on more than one occasion, to make sure that our experience was a good one.  seriously i got better customer service at this place than i have at actual sit down restaurants.

guy buddy got a breakfast sandwich which he said was good. lady friend got the chicken platter which she said was really good.

i got the "grilled" feta breakfast "sandwich", which basically was feta cheese, tomato and cucumber in a pita. meh. it was decent. i also got the hummus and pita, which really was tasty, although the pita was not the most fresh i have ever had.

the food was probably deserving of two stars, in my opinion.  however the fact that the service was amazing bumps it up a star and a half.
