The place has a miniature statue of Scooby-Doo in a Hawaiian shirt on display behind their serving counter. That right there is worth three stars by itself, so what else gives this place even more stars for the final score? Amazing food served in jaw-dropping (and potentially jaw-breaking, given the sizes of some sandwiches) quantities.

When you pull into the parking lot, you're immediately greeted by a banner hanging near the front glass door proclaiming the place to have the best breakfast in Dallas per the "USA Today" staff. That's a good start before you even walk in the place and once you do, a smile from someone gets you started before you are seated and given a menu that is still overwhelming after having been there more than a few times. It may only be some eight pages but with literally dozens of items per page, the less decisive visitors may very well experience too many choices and total mental shut-down as a result.

But before you go screaming from the building shouting "I don't know what to do!" in a sprint of fear, calm yourself and look at what's on offer. Breakfast, sandwiches, lunch/dinner plates, etc. Wait, that may send you into a panic all over again. On second thought, come prepared with an idea of a deli dish you want. And that's actually a great idea because chances are good the team here will serve up the best [insert dish you're thinking of here] you've ever had.

The breakfast plates are worthy of the hype, the lunch/dinner entrees are delicious and the sandwiches... oh, the sandwiches... Take every thing you know about a sandwich and throw them out the window because these sandwiches are crafted by artists. We're talking slabs of meat, condiments on the table that may have been the work of alchemy and bread that maintains wondrous consistency in the face of overflowing juices (those being rivers of grease from the meats and drool from your own mouth). Special sandwiches are numbered and named for easy reference but really the CNN and Eli's reign supreme over them all (though I'm pretty sure an Eli's fulfills your caloric intake for the entire day, which is just as well, honestly).

The place itself is standard dining/deli material: tables, chairs and nifty tablecloths that probably doubled as picnic blankets at one time. Once there was a leak in the ceiling and the tables affected simply were not sat (because, really, it's tough to eat while an AC unit is dripping on your head). A couple of shelves of books and trinkets line the one wall while drawings from children and local community photos fill another. Simple and effective atmosphere at work, folks.

But one other item worthy of mentioning is the bathroom. It's a one-off room with a single toilet and a single locking door separating you from the world of the dining room. So why mention it? It's the nicest hole-in-the-wall's hole-in-the-wall bathroom I've been in. I'm not saying there's a fountain, six sofas and a laser light show going on in there but it definitely feels removed from most other local dining establishments' facilities.

But yeah, you're coming for the food, not the bathroom (I hope). If there's a downside here it's that their waiting area is practically non-existent. It's there, but it's a narrow strip of a hallway, really. But fortunately, tables turn and even if you do have to wait, suck it up because it's worth it. And chances are good that if you're still reading this then I probably have done my part in convincing you to try this place out.

I was in the mood for a great pastrami rueben sandwich and read good reviews about this NY deli not far from the house.  So I went out here for lunch with the gf and I ordered the pastrami reuben sandwich.  This thing is massive, you eat it with a fork and the sauerkraut was also great on it.  I had some potato salad with it as my side which was good also.

The gf got the chicken hodgepodge soup which was like a chicken noodle soup with matzo ball in it, very tasty.  The only complaint was her salad she got was just a plain salad with some chicken on it, nothing special at all.

I am basing my review on the rueben alone as this is what I came for, I give it 5 stars as it's the best one I've had in the Dallas area as of today.  I look forward to return for my pastrami kick.

Geez, I was so disappointed in this visit.  Have been craving some Matzo Ball Soup and recalled Deli News visit over a year ago.

    Short and Sweet:

Soup did not live up to the caliber of the last purchase.  It was bland, almost flavorless.  The Matzo Ball was however still light, soft and fluffy as described in my first review.  Broth failed miserably.  1 star

Chopped Chicken Liver - Now, this was mighty fine.  Creamy, smooth and bursting with flavors of pepper, onion, stock etc.  Mmmmm, love this version; much much better than Cindi's.  4 stars

Corned Beef - On a last minute whim, decided to pick up some for my CB loving friend.  Had a couple of bites just to be sure it was good (LOL), and it was.  3 stars only because I am not a true CB fan; only on a rare occasion.

Service as in my first visit was outstanding.  Quick and friendly. 4 stars just for counter service.

In summary, I'm still on the search for Matzo Ball Soup like I have had in Cleveland OH so many times.  Folks up North seem to have a secret ingredient that perks up their recipe.  A little too far to travel however for a bowl of soup.

I have never been here and some coworkers of mine took us here on a lunch break. It was packed but they found a table for us. We ordered and our food was quick to come out. They give you pickles to eat before your meal, which is great because I love pickles. My friend was trying to open the ketchup and it pretty much exploded on her. While it was hilarious and totally not the restaurant's fault, she was covered. Our waiter was so quick to bring us extra napkins and even brought us a bag of free pastries and desserts because of our trouble. So nice! I really loved the atmosphere of this place and we'll definitely be back because of the great food and service! Yum!

I have a new rule. . .no establishment can get five stars from me until I have been there three times.  Consistency in food quality, ambiance and service is what gets you the fifth star.  If Deli News delivers two more times like they did yesterday, they will get that fifth star!

I was "jonesing" for some Matzo ball soup and thought of Cindy's deli down in the Richardson area.  Have been there before and it was quite good.  I ended up on Yelp and came across Deli News and decided to give someplace new (to me) a try.  So, wife, daughter and I went there for lunch.

Strip mall, very nondescript.  Interior was what I would call "jammed-deli" style. . .stuff all over the place without a particular order.  Looks like it has been there a while.  We were given a table almost immediately and the service throughout was superior in virtually every way.

I ordered the "Chicken Hodgepodge" which include matzo ball, noodles and kreplach and a Reuben sandwich.  Wife ordered (she is going to hate that I just said "wife") the open faced turkey sandwich with onion rings and daughter (she doesn't know about Yelp yet so I am safe) insisted on pancakes and a hot dog.

Ok. . .let's pause for a second.  We initially put up a stink.  Seriously?  Pancakes and a hot dog?  Who does that!??  It is like ordering Pancakes with ham or sausage. . .wait a minute.  Ok, see, maybe the kid has a point.  Back to the review. . .

The soup was four out of five stars. . .I think that the soup at Cindy's was slightly better. . .a bit richer broth.  But the Reuben. . .see, I am not a big Reuben fan. . .I order it when I am missing my mom because she loved Reubens and she would have loved this sandwich!!!  The corned beef was moist and flavorful, the bread perfect, not too much swiss cheese and the sauerkraut was fantastic!!  Seriously a great sandwich and the potato salad was excellent as well.  Wife's sandwich was great. . .and the onion rings really well done.  And daughter ate the hot dog and pancakes so let's assume it was good.

Now, a shout out for the service.  Juan was our waiter and it has to be the best, attentive service that I have experienced in some time.  Yes, he forgot the onions on my wife's sandwich but beyond that - paid attention to us, was friendly, when he heard my daughter say that she was cold, he came back with a large cloth napkin to cover her shoulders (was nicer than it sounds).  Juan gets five stars.

So, a really great, down home jewish deli experience.  A bit on the expensive side?  Yes. . .but you get what you pay for.

YELP OBSERVATION:  Perhaps another way that Yelp can grow is to offer the ability to rate servers directly.  Can you imagine being able to put on your application "rated five stars by YELP"?  Hey, I am serious about this. . .

A meal started with pickles. Interesting. Wow the pickles were fresh. Yum. The reuben pastrami was huge with grilled rye, pastrami, cheese and kraut. I can't believe I ate all of this plus the finely chopped coleslaw and dressing. The pastrami was so wonderful. I'm still basking in the pastrami, cheese and kraut afterglow. Just wonderful food. I can't believe I have never been here before.

    YEEEEEEEEEESSSSS!!!!!!!

As I sit here, wide awake since 6am on a Wednesday morning, I dream of bagels and lox. That may just be the Jewish gal in me, but it could also be me yearning for the impeccable tastes of Deli News.

I used to live much closer to this joint and OYE VEY. I don't care that I have to wait in line for breakfast for several minutes sometimes; I will do it with a smile, because I know the end product will have been completely worth it. It serves up everything you stereotype in a deli: old folk, classic food and hilarious eavesdropping ("I've been waitin in line for 15 minutes! I'm hungry!")

Next time you're feeling adventurous enough to try something other than Einstein's for a bagel, go here. Get an orange juice, order some challah french toast and soak up the culture.

My dad and I were on the way to Cindi's when we rolled past Deli News and decided to eat here for lunch and not Cindi's.  This was my first time here and I did not know what to expect.  Alot of places like to call them self's NY or Kosher or Jewish deli's but most of them are not.

When we walked in for lunch the place was packed.  This means one of two things.  The food is great or people are being held hostage.  We were lucky to not have to wait long and we were seated within 4 minutes.  The wait staff was very friendly and made some recommendations from the Special of the Day menu.  My dad got a Rubin and I got a thick Kosher baloney sandwich.  Both sandwiches had nice thick cuts of meat and all of the toppings.  They melted in our mouths.  I also had a cup of matzo ball soup which was great.

My Dad and I love going to Jewish type of deli's and I grew up on Cindi's but I must say Delli News is right up there with Cindi's.  If you are looking for a great deli with great service try deli news.  You wont be disappointed.

OK, so I am still on my Soup kick when it comes to Delis in the Metroplex, so stopping over here only added to this need for a fix.

Yes, I ordered the Chicken Hodgepodge: Chicken Soup with Noodles, Matzo Ball and Kreplach. Very tasty. The Brisket dinner (thin sliced like roast beef) was good, but the side of steamed veggies were horrible.

They serve thicker bagel chips that most in the area (look like my homemade ones) but are delicious, so are the pickles served on the side.

This place is tiny and very popular: show up at an odd time or be prepared to wait.

I'm not sure what half the people that reviewed this place are smoking, but this place was a huge disappointment, VERY average to below average.

Look, I've been to New York, I'm no deli expert, but I feel like I have a good idea what good pastrami is.  My pastrami on rye came out looking about the same the size as a mickey dees happy meal burger. Maybe I was looking forward to a larger portion based on the reviews and the pictures I have seen on their website, but when the plates arrived at the table, myself and my three guests just all kind of looked at each other like, really? We also had sides of potato salad, cole slaw, and fries. MEH! Everything was bland and lacking flavor, especially the meats.

Maybe Deli News has fallen onto hard times, I dunno?  Bottom line, I was really looking forward to this place being good and having a solid place for new york deli, but Deli News failed miserably in my book, not even worth a second trip IMHO.

I think I just ate my weight in corned beef & pastrami.  Seriously, the sandwich I ate was freakin' huge.

Deli News, I want to apologize for never coming to visit until today.  Yes, I have heard about you but never until now had I bothered to introduce myself.  It was all me, never you.  But all that aside, we now have a new beginning and a friendship has been started.  You offered me so many things on your menu.  Page after page, item after item, breakfast, lunch or dinner...you offered me the world.  How am I to choose?  I'm only human.

Choose I must, I went with the #1 Corned Beef & Pastrami Triple Decker sandwich with potato salad.  What was presented to me was a giant pile of flavorful meat on three slices of rye bread, garnished with cole slaw and Russian dressing.  It almost brought a tear to my eye.

The meat was seasoned perfectly and the dressing was not over the top.  Did I mention the cole slow was great?  It was.  Oh, did I mention that I DON'T EVEN LIKE cole slow, however there I was scooping it up with my fork.

I look forward to a great future with you Deli News.

If you want a yummy, overstuffed sandwich... this is the place to come.  I've been here twice and both time had a Hot Pastrami and Roast Beef on  white with Swiss Cheese and Russian Dressing on the side.

While my sandwich was yummy, it was the pickles that they bring out as an appetizer that stole the show.

What is keeping this from a 4 star review?  The Desserts.  I've tried two different kinds of the Studels and neither one of them wow'd me.  In fact, you know there is something wrong when I don't finish dessert.

Yummy!!!  Great authenic New York deli the best rueben and light and fluffy cheescake.  Just a little pricey thats why the 4 stars but the waiter Bryan was very attentive and the food came quickly.  I thought I was in NY city with the delicious cheesecake.  With just enough brown on top and creamy velvety filling the crust was perfect.  If you want a great rueben it's like butter!

  • Review from Joe F.

I feel embarrassed I literally grew up 2 blocks from Deli News and didn't find out about it until just now.

My buddy brought me here with the promise it was one of the closest things you could get to a classic New York style Jewish deli. He was right. We made it up here last Sunday and after a couple minutes the five of us were able to grab a table and begin our adventure.

I love that they serve pickles as an appetizer. We must have run through 5 or 6 bowls while trying to decide on what to order. Once I'd had enough pickles to calm my growling stomach long enough to read the menu, I had to decide between breakfast and lunch. . .not an easy task.

The breakfast menu was loaded with everything from waffles and pancakes to eggs and build-your-own omelettes (pastrami omelette anyone?) to breakfast sandwiches and traditional lox and bagels.

The table next to us ordered breakfast and one look at the eggs benedict had me hooked until I made the fatal mistake of flipping over to the lunch menu. Holy corned beef, Batman! Everything from turkey, pastrami and salami to the more adventurous tongue and chopped liver. . .it was literally a smorgasbord of gout inducing glory! Not to mention all the smoked fish, blintzes, burgers, pirogi and borscht!

I changed my mind about 80 times until finally settling on the grilled salmon on a kaiser roll. I was not disappointed, the salmon was seasoned surprisingly well and served piping hot while still staying moist. They even got me to eat the garlic dill mayo they put on it despite my strict "F You Mayo" life policy. I devoured it all in about two bites which afforded me time to snake off everyone else's plates.

The corned beef is why I'll be returning for lunch in the immediate future. . .the pickling seasoning was just right and the metric ton of meat and cheese they stuffed onto that poor defenseless slice of bread was beautiful. It was kosher deli meat sex in my mouth (can I say that?). The hot cabbage borscht was the best borscht I've ever had (out of 3 samples in my lifetime. . .maybe the trick was adding the sour cream), the combo sandwiches were able to prove too much of a meal to a 250lb man and you can never go wrong with pastrami slathered in Russian dressing. Our final tablemate opted for the eggs benedict and said it was the best he's had in a long time (I guess I'll have to come back for breakfast, too).

For the amount of food you get, the prices are insanely fair ($8-12 for the most part). I walked in with an empty stomach and fairly low expectations, but I left discussing plans to make this a weekly trip and a couple new homemade notches in my belt.

Well played, Deli News, well played.

I need a quick bite to eat and I was in this plaza and had heard good things about Deli News so I popped in for a sandwich. Thank you Deli News for exceeding my expectations. After a quick browse of the menu I decided on Pastrami. I saw these delicious onion rolls behind the counter and asked if my sandwich could go on one of those and it could! yay! I had my choice of chips, potato salad, or something else I can't remember and I chose potato salad - it was ok, but the sandwich was the real star.

My sandwich was piled with pastrami and the onion roll was super delicious! The pickle that came with it all was pretty decent too. If I wasn't so full from the sandwich I might have eaten the potato salad, but it just didn't happen today :)

They had a bunch of the flavored cream cheeses in the display case and I'm definitely going to go back and try a bagel with one of these - they looked awesome.

Once again, this is a phenomenal place. Closest thing in Dallas to authenticity--and I've eaten at Barney Greengrass!

First, bagels. Unless you're in Manhattan, this is the measuring stick for all other bagels. They are GOOD.

Secondly, everything else. I've only been here for breakfast (numerous times--any chance I get!).  I typically get the Pastrami and Eggs. Fantastic! I love pastrami for some reason. I've also had the "Classic L.E.O." which is smoked salmon, grilled onions and scrambled eggs. If you like fish, you'd like this. It was pretty fishy tasting! Still good, though!

    Did I mention the bagels?

Busy place depending on when you go (this is the Campbell location). Wait staff is so-so. Once I had a slightly older waiter who seemed to be really pissy, but I felt like that added to the authenticity of the place. Sometimes you go a while with no coffee fill-up, but hey, wassamatta U??

They still get 5 stars--they're not pretending to be something they're not!

P.S. They've got a big deli counter for all the usual deli meats you might want to take home. I haven't been there for lunch, but I'm guessing they've got those 2-feet tall deli sandwiches that could feed most of Dallas' homeless.

Holy Pickles! This place is deli-tastic!

I wish I could take their smoked salmon, stuff it in my pillow case and have dreams about it on bagels with a lovely schmear. Ok, maybe I might develop an odor problem, but you get the point.

Fresh cream cheese, bagels, assorted fish, meats (HELLO PASTRAMI ON RYE!)

It's your classic NY Deli.  To the max. Mmmmm. Oh and don't forget a bowl of Matza ball soup any day of the week!

My lil' sis was craving an egg salad sandwich, so of course I got on yelp to see if there was any place worth it and stumbled upon this place, which coincidentally is only a few minutes from my work.
Like Joseph B., the egg salad was ok, not as great as the one I make at home, but better than the one you'd find at the quickey mart. I had the kosher beef salami, with cream cheese and provolone on a kaiser roll (my own creation) and it was yum. The only down side.. there was too much meat on my sandwich. Not that that's a bad bad thing, but I felt like I could have fed a kid in Africa with the leftover meat.

Every time I'm in Dallas, I HAVE to eat here. My family is full of New York Jewish folks, and we fully endorse this restaurant.

First of all, the service is usually great. Everyone's very friendly, and they feel very authentic to the sort of food you'll get here. This last time we went, it had been nearly three months since our previous visit (three very looooong months) and our waiter remembered us from the last time we were there. Pretty great start to our meal.

On to the food...oh, the food. The Deli News by far has the best matzo ball soup I have ever had. (Sorry, Grandma!) Their broth is wonderfully salty and chickeny, while the giant matzo ball has tons of flavor of its own and is strangely light as air. I've tried and tried to make soup this good at home, but to no avail. I lay awake some nights, craving this soup while a lone tear rolls down my cheek as I remind myself that the soup is 3 hours away from where I live and it will be months before I have it again.

Their menu is extensive, full of classics like a giant open-faced reuben, hot dogs, stuffed cabbage...food that hits every happy note of my soul. But as extensive as their menu is, I tend to get the same thing every time because I just can't get it anywhere else and be close to this good -- I'm talking about the fish platter. That's right -- a large plate of whatever fish I'm in need of (usually nova lox, though I sometimes get the belly lox to change it up some), tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, capers, cream cheese, and a toasted bagel. My stomach is growling just at the thought of this meal. Lox and bagels is a strong contender for my last meal wish; I could really truly eat it every day and be happy. But only if it's a GOOD rendition of lox and bagels, which the Deli News' absolutely is. The fish always tastes spot on, nice and salty. On the rare occasion, they will have the elusive salt bagel as an option, which will fly me to the moon and back. Their coffee is also nice and strong, and they're pretty quick with the refills.

We've also tried several of their desserts -- this last time involved a black and white cookie, some chocolate rugalach, and a poppyseed pastry of some kind. I'd never had poppyseed anything for dessert, and while it wasn't my personal cup of tea, my husband enjoyed every bite of it (sans the one I took). The B&W cookies are the right consistency and level of crumble, something that is an easy telltale sign of a "real" B&W cookie or not. And all their flavors of rugalach pack a punch of solid, clear flavor. You really can't go wrong with those as just a little bite of something sweet on your way home.

The Deli News is always stellar and extremely authentic, which after years of searching for this kind of food in Texas, I can tell you is unusual and very welcome in my world.

What a great find!  I stumbled onto this place when I was in the neighborhood and almost passed it by as the exterior was pretty unattractive. Been when I realized how full the parking lot was, I knew I mist have stumbled into something good!

A great NY style Jewish deli with all the favorites you would expect: pastrami, corned beef, chopped liver, matzo ball soup etc. A wonderfully friendly gentleman (the owner?) greets you at the door and makes you feel immediately welcome during a short wait for a table (SRO only for Saturday lunch!).

Waiters are old school; a huge menu serving both breakfast and lunch. The most beautiful lox passed by my table, but opted for an all-beef dog with kraut and potato salad and a potato pancake. When it arrived the roll was warm and moist, almost like it was grilled and steamed at the same time. The kraut also spent a little time in the pan, giving it a nice texture. Really enjoyed the potato salad. I also got a chance to taste the tuna melt; the tuna salad having just the right amount of mayo so the tuna held together but was not soupy.

Love the ambience and the food. It is a little pricey for a lunch joint, but I will definitely be back, if for no other reason to receive that warm "Welcome back" from the proprietor.

Everything is good here.  The sandwiches are great (especially the Ruben) the bagels are outstanding, my grandparents love the soup.  I love to get Dr. Brown's cream soda here too.

Wow! A place in DFW that has a REAL breakfast menu! Yea, you can get some sort of breakfast pretty much anywhere, but most menus are the same old boring stuff with little variety. And if you've moved here from someplace that IS a breakfast town, most places in DFW fall short.

I'd read the reviews others had written and thought this place was what hubby and I had been looking for. But Deli News is (sob!) a good 30 miles from our house. That's a helluva drive for breakfast, but after reading the last review, I couldn't stand it any more and knew we had to make a trip here if not for breakfast, then for lunch. Since hubby needed to take his car to Grapevine for service this morning, we figured that would be almost halfway (timewise) to Deli News. After dropping his car off (early), off we went for breakfast. Early. Light traffic. A hungry me driving. We got there in about 20 minutes!

Anyway this is a cute New York style deli restaurant. It's a bit small (less than 20 tables, I think) so I was surprised that it wasn't mobbed. But then I looked at my watch and noticed it was just a little past 8 (how did WE get there that early??) and figured the normal breakfast crowd would be appearing between 8:30 and 9.

Anyway, hubby had the LEO (lox, eggs, and onion) with a bagel and I had the corned beef hash and eggs also with a bagel. The corned beef hash was tasty and the bagels were pretty good (better than all I've had since I moved here). The whites in my over easy eggs were a tad underdone, but nothing major. If I get an overdone yolk, though, I'll barf (thankfully we did not have to go there!). Hubby said his LEO was yummy.  And the service was attentive and very friendly.  So all-in-all, it was a successful breakfast outing.

So, why can't there be a place like this closer to my house? Yea, like I said, you CAN get breakfast near my house, but take a look at Deli News' menu and you'll see what I crave. Guess we'll be making this road trip again. Gotta try lunch next!

As far as authentic Jewish deli's go, this has everything. I have eaten here dozens of times, and I get something different every time. I ALWAYS leave stuffed and happy!

Matzoh ball soup= broth is so good and the ball is nice and fluffy- doesn't even need extra salt! ( keep your dirty minds out of the gutter).
Chopped liver= served with a variety of bagel chips, chopped finely and just like mom makes
Pickles on the table= um, yes please, i usually eat a whole plate myself while looking at the menu and a few more while waiting for my meal
Blintzes- sweet creamy filling and light crepe- so good
Whitefish salad- my favorite on the menu- not a bit oily, very fresh and sooooooo good
    Dr Brown's soda assortment- check!
Black and white cookies- check check!

I could go on, I have tried much more on the menu and it is always done just right. Definitely the best Jewish deli in Dallas, especially bc it is owned by real Jewish people! ( an anomaly, yes, I know...)

(ok, maybe I'm a little biased, my BF's family co-owns this place---but I did eat here all the time before I met him....don't judge!)

I came here with some coworkers for one of our "Ethnic Lunch" outings and this one was definitely a success!

We each ordered the Chicken Hodgepodge soup - chicken soup with noodles, matzo ball & kreplach (meat dumpling).  I couldn't have finished it any faster.  My coworker ordered everything else for us to share:
    - The latke (potato pancake) was delicious, even without the sourcream & applesauce.  I probably could have eaten 3 more of those.
    - Bagel & lox was a must, and we devoured that quickly.
    - Noodle kugel, which sort of looked like lasagna, was not what I expected, but I enjoyed it!  Noodles with some cheese, cinnamon, and you can add sourcream and applesauce.
    - Matzo Brie was definitely my least favorite and I wouldn't order it again.  Basically scrambled eggs with pieces of matzo in it, but it tasted very bland.
    - The Cheese Blintzes with strawberry were a good way to end the meal.  The strawberry sauce added just enough sweetness to make it somewhat of a dessert.

Normally I wouldn't be one to frequent a deli, but I just might with this one!

I'm no expert on authentic delis, but this place is pretty good.  My wife just recently discovered pastrami while back in Las Vegas (she was a vegetarian until my son convinced her that meat is good while she was pregnant with him), and I have no questions that this place will be the place to take her the next time she has a craving for some.

A nice touch of this place is the plate of pickles they bring while you're waiting for your food.

The only thing keeping this place from being a five star is the prices.  They seem a bit high for a lunch place in my opinion.

I can't believe I have lived in this area for over 20 years and never experienced the pure glory that is the Deli News patrami on rye.  Mmmmmmmmm, soooo good.  If you are coming here expecting something like Subway, where you get exactly 4 slices of meat and a quarter handful of toppings for 5 bucks, you are in the wrong place.  While it's more expensive than your run of the mill place (around $10 each), you pay for outstanding quality.  The pastrami sandwich I had was incredible.

The service my girlfriend and I got was great too.  Coming in about 20 minutes before closing time (8pm) on a Friday, I never felt like the staff was trying to rush us out.

Overall, fantastic place and one that I highly recommend.

This is one of my favorite local haunts. It's good old fashion great food New York Style. The staff are wonderful and if you visit more than once they know you by name. The food makes me smile but it's the atmosphere that really just hits the spot. Good people, good food and friendly neighbors. Now if I could just have someplace like this in Addison Circle.

I just found out for the holidays they ordered kishka . Ohhh my mouth is salivating. I grew up on this Polish blood sausage in New Jersey. My Grandmother would make it with fried eggs and toast. Salty goodness that I only eat now during the holidays.

Jewish and Ethnic foods as well as good ole American style. The amount of food you get for you buck is amazing. You have to try it.

Normally, they fail to disappoint.  The sandwiches are stuffed so full that you'll never leave hungry.

If the meat isn't really dry, anyway.  I had the turkey Reuben the last time I was there, and the meat was so dry I couldn't even eat it (unfortunately I'd ordered it to go, or I would have asked for something else).

Every other time I've been there, it's been good.  The service is a bit above average, the prices have definitely gone up over the years as well (my turkey reuben was $11.99... before tax, tip, or drink).

As far as delis go, this place is as good as I think you'll find in Dallas. I haven't been to many NY delis before, but I've been to enough to think this is as close as you'll get to them.

Meats are piled HIGH so if you don't get full coming here, enroll yourself into an eating contest STAT.

One of my favorites here is the tongue sandwich. LOVE IT.
I've had better pastramis to be honest, but it's still good. I do like their reuben, though.
    Oh yea, free pickles!

If you wanna go, but have no one to go with, I live just down the street, and I'm always up for a Deli News run!

    Amazing simply amazing.

They give you pickles they are excellent.

Corned beef there is amazing and so darn good it makes you think about it often.  The spare ribs were very good.  The potato salad is not like anything I've ran across and is very good.  I order extra to take home.

Simply put though every dish myself or my co-workers order has been wonderful and sends most everyone holding their full bellies on the way back to work.  They give you a lot and every time I have to take some home.

Hats off to their chicken soup.  I've even sent someone to get me some when I've not felt well and I swear it's better than medicine.

WOW! The sandwiches are some of the biggest I've ever seen! Not only is it quantity, but the quality is great! Thank you Yelp for the great pick! We picked up some sandwiches before going out to the Dallas Arboretum and it was a great addition to a great date. My boyfriend had the roast beef and turkey triple decker while I had the pastrami and corned beef triple decker. It was a bit pricer for $12.99  a sandwich but it's worth it!

    The good.
had the 14.99 pastrami and turkey. Really good. Server was cute and sandwich was quite.

    The bad:
It was 14.99 wtf dude in sf where living is waaay more expensive this sandwich would have been 6 dollars from Lucca Foods.

Final: Its worth it if you are used to Deli's from Cali or NY but cant make eating here a daily thing. Will completely empty your bank account.

This place makes Cindy's look 10th rate by comparison.  Closest thing to a NY or LA Jewish Deli in the Dallas area.  Only wish it was closer to where I live.  But then I would probably gain 25 pounds in no time, so it's a trade-off

This lovely little deli is right up the road. I felt like I was cheating on my beloved Cindi's just by walking in. Like Cindi's, they have similar menus but Deli News feels a little more homegrown. Throngs of people stand out of the door waiting to get sat by the enthusiastic owner and the hungry masses are satisfied. My egg bagel was delicious and D loved the home fries. He said their seasoning was better than Cindi's. Everything looks really delicious to be quite honest. I'm afraid I can't partake in the meat but the baked goods are pretty nice. We ran into several friends here and everybody seems to know everybody. I had a black and white cookie but prefer Cindi's because I think it's more authentic. However, their breakfast definitely makes me think twice!

I had a hanker'n for an egg salad sandwich today. After debating if I should have gone home for lunch and to try making some from scratch and looking around on some menus on-line,  I decided I'd save time by just stopping by somewhere. I was out of luck on finding any place that had'em that was on my way to class, so I gave up and just said to hell with it and stopped by Deli-News.  Luckily, it WAS on their menu and I was happy. Earlier, from looking over egg salad recipes on http://foodnetwork.com, I was hoping Deli-News had some egg salad with some decent flavor and maybe a little bit of pizzaz, but all it was mashed up eggs flavored up with a little bit of fresh pepper. I was hoping it would have had some dill, diced onions, and chopped celery, but no, it didn't. At least my meal came with a whole pickle and some chips. The amout of egg salad packed between the bread was generous, that was cool.

I can't say too much about the service here since I had my meal togo, but it looked homey inside. While I was waiting for my lunch I noticed they had a big display case of really tempting baked goods. I may have to come back to try some of those next time.

This is the closet I have found in the Plano/ Dallas area to a good Jewish deli. My parents actually found it from word of mouth, and it was amazing. What I liked most was that it was very humble, and it almost gives you an at home feeling. They start you off with Pickles that were delish! Our server was very nice and everything went smooth. I ordered a tuna sandwich with some matza ball soup. So good. They also have a baker who comes and bakes fresh pastries. I would recommend this place to anyone.
