It's both a store & a restaurant. Delicious food ~ they've been here forever ~ the quality has remained excellent. Large variety of foods. My favorite sandwich for lunch is their whitefish salad on a hard roll ~ comes with 2 pickles. Their Sloppy Joe's are the best around! They make a platter of them with 8 cuts that's great for a small gathering at home ~ but you have to order it in advance. Good counter service ~ they make shiva platters while you wait. It's in the shopping center where the Post Office & Vaccaro's Bakery are, so there's plenty of parking.
Now, for the negative... purchases and take out are the best choices; we weren't happy at all with the service for lunch on 3 occasions over the course of 8 months... the last time we ate there was over a year ago ~ maybe things have changed, but we only get take-out now. If the rating was more for the restaurant, I would have given it only 3 stars, but because the food is excellent, I went with a 4. For the food alone, I would have given it 5 stars.
The prices are high, but for a special foods place, it's kind of expected and you think "oh well". If the prices were lower, I'd go more often, but I think they have a good base clientele. -

Great kosher deli! Best in NJ. Nice to eat in - good service - or take out.

This kosher deli is still going strong. While it is not the best that I have ever had, I'm comfortable rating it four stars. I've updated my photo (see pic).
The pictured 'Sloppy Joe" hand-cut sandwich ($31.95) feeds 4-8 people. This is normally a catering item, ordered in advance, but owner Kenny made it for me on the spot, in just a few minutes. Good customer service, good food.1 Previous Review: Show all »

I'm downright honored to be the first to review Deli King. I've been going here for years, and I make it a priority to pick up my standard order whenever I'm in New Jersey - a third of a pound of hand-sliced smoked salmon, a small container of homemade scallion cream cheese, and a couple of fresh bagels. For me, this is the perfect meal.
This place is a full kosher deli and caterer, and the high quality of the food is a well-kept secret of the locals. Don't tell them I'm sharing it. The prices may seem a bit on the high side, but they do everything themselves, and you need to pay for that. Still, if you want to flat out wow people with kosher catering, this is your place. -

Deli King is best for their take out counter.
Their dine-in menu is small, offers little variety or options, food is overpriced, and the service is dreadful. -

The sloppies from DK are the best sandwich in the world, hands-down. I grew up eating these as a kid, and now living in SF, have them brought out anytime an old Jersey friend makes the pilgrimage.
Food of the gods. -

It's cool to have a decent Jewish deli near home here in NJ.
Nice spread, all the goodies you'd expect from a place like this. Service isn't great, a little brusque, but it's also what you'd expect from a place like this. -

MY office orders Deli King every few weeks and that is the day we look forward to most each month. I gotta say, their food quality varties each time, but overall, iot is a great Jewish Deli that prepares, authentic, delicious, melt-in-your-mouth sandwiches, soups, and knishes. I either order the corn beef or pastrami sandwiches, and they are amazing 75% of the time. The other 25%, they are overly fatty, and there isn't enough meat on them. For the price your paying, you want a perfect sandwich each time. Because of this, Deli Kind loses a perfect rating and only gets 4 stars. But overall, awesome deli that delivers.

a pretty good deli that my husband and i would definitely go back to. we got the turkey sandwich on a bagel and a pastrami sandwich. They turkey was shaved from a roasted turkey and not the deli stuff you get at the supermarket. The bagel it was on was pretty good. The pastrami was really good and pretty lean to. they give you pickles and pickled vegetables for the table and both were quite tasty.

I'm only giving Deli King 3 stars because I bought stuffed cabbages there and when we tried to eat them they actually sizzled in our mouths. They were went rotten, i just can't believe they served them to us. I didn't go back only because it was a rainy day and that's why I got dinner take out to begin with. I can only assume they would have given me a refund.
I also bought a knish which was pretty good and some side salads. They were pretty good, but not the best. Honestly, this place didn't strike me as being really fresh which was a disappointment after hearing all of these other reviews. I may give it one more shot with the pastrami and amend my review if it's any good.
