I know that they have a great selection for their supermarket but who cares??
Since the desert from Delessio's bakery is amazingly good (in my book),
they offer one of the best gourmet food (Togo) and best desert in the city!
Don't be surprise if you found yourself quitting going to up scale resturant but coming to get your dinner from Delessio's kitchen instead. -

WHAT THE F*@#?!?!
I should've known a slice of cake that looked dry and was sitting out in the open (not even refridgerated or behind glass!) was gonna be horrible.
I'm too traumatized from this hard, stale, disgusting tres leches slice to even write a decent review. I feel like throwing up. I usually only try to leave good reviews but this was so horrible, I can't even put it into words.
Hipsters. You really outdid yourselves this time. -

We came into Delessio Market & Bakery late on a Saturday night and were really surprised to see some shoppers - perhaps everyone was there for the same reason we were...dessert!
Our first choice for dessert, Candybar, was closed so we decided to hit up the bakery at Delessio for some sweets. After perusing all the different desserts, I went for the bread pudding and my boyfriend went for the tres leches cake. We also picked up a pint of vanilla ice cream, which went perfectly with my bread pudding.
The bread pudding was great - it was filled with cranberries and chunks of chocolate (tastes better if you heat it up a bit!). The tres leches cake was way too sweet for my taste and the frosting on top was overwhelming.
I think Delessio has a bunch of yummy options for dessert, and also for takeout, but it was a little pricey. $4.25/slice of tres leches cake and $3.50/slice for the bread pudding. Ehhh, not too bad, but not the greatest. Hopefully Candybar is open next time we want dessert! -

Bourgeois. I was re-acquainted with an old word. It's much more descriptive than "hipster." Because that's what hipsters have become: bourgeois.
This place is really bourgeois. I got a piece of tres leches cake here. It cost nearly $4. It was out in the open amongst all the germs and creepy SF people who like to touch food, taste it, then put it back. I'm talking about YOU, irresponsible dad with nasty little girl at the hot foods section who let his daughter take a piece of food out of the tray with her hands, take a bite, then put it back into the tray.
The flavor of the cake was way too fancy. The cake was practically disintegrating under the syrup. The syrup was much too sticky. It was a syrup rather than a milk mixture. It was really really sweet. And to ruin a bad thing, the whole cake was topped off with a huge dollop of seven minute frosting (aka marshmallow frosting). Absolutely hideous.
No, it didn't stop me from stuffing most of it in my face. Neither did the terrible stomach ache that plagued me for the rest of the night. Both nights that I ate the cake. Didn't learn my lesson. Hoped my stomach was made of iron. But I surrender to the tres leches cake. It did the trick. If by "trick" I meant "made my stomach hurt and not hungry for any type of food."
I also hate the huge, cumbersome brown paper take-away containers that are designed to make you over-load on self-serve hot foods contaminated by small dirty children.
Hipsters have become the bourgeois. Don't let it happen to you. -

We came over after lunch at Nopalito, and discovered the bakery inside Faletti's market. Did a lookee loo, and saw an interesting pastry item, "Rabanada". Origins are Brazilian.
We decided to give one a try. It's like a slice of baguette soaked overnight in a custard mixture. Then deep fried and coated with cinnamon sugar. Very very good.
The staff person behind the counter seemed somewhat annoyed when I asked her if this bakery was the same as the one on Market & Gough. She recovered; then answered yes.
There's hot food items and boxed cakes and pies and other bakery cakes and pastry items on sale too. -

Not sure why this place is still in business. Saw a shopping cart parked outside, the owner of which is asleep at a table inside. No hot food, "chef" talking on his cell phone, oblivious clerks. If they don't care anymore they should just close.

Delessio....What happened to you, old friend?
Apparently, Delessio's got made over and became a lot more swanky. Gone are the self-serve dishes that make you feel like you're at a family potluck. You no longer can get a scoop of this and that. Instead you get small fancy, individual cakes that are around $4 each. I used to get a carton of mixed desserts whenever I was in the area. Now I would probably only go there to buy something for a special occasion.
Change sucks.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Unbelievably delicious and amazing decadent desserts at an astronomic price. All made with the best of ingredients by a caring and pleasant staff.
Amazing cakes for special occasions, guaranteed to impress.
My night feels incomplete without one of there many lil treats. From their mini cupcakes to their rabanada, I can't say enough great things about them. Even at closing time their desserts are just as mouthwateringly scrumptious as anytime.
Damnit, I wish they were open right now (I just called and no-one picked up) -

When I moved out of my old 'hood close to Bi-Rite Creamery and into this Divis'ish neighborhood, I didn't sweat it since I knew Delessio's offered Humphry Slocombe ice cream. But man, a year later and they are still serving the same flavors. They have the original classics like Secret Breakfast, Blue Bottle Viet coffee, Fudgescicle. But HS headquarters needs to throw us a bone like the Nutter Fluffer and now I hear there's a vanilla with chocolate covered potato chips?!? Well if the new "Late Night" Ben & Jerry's flavor is available at my liquor store first, I'm going there.
I like Delessio's bakery for their sweet treats, but it's no Tartine replacement. Their Rabanada (Brazilian french toast) is ridiculously sweet and indulgent, as is their Tres Leches cake. I rarely pick up their hot foods since a panini is about $9 and the rest of the hot bar is $9.99/lb (one piece of chicken will easily cost $5+). At those prices, I prefer to pick up groceries at Faletti's and go home and cook. -

I will drive from all areas of the city just for a slice of this.

Delessio has some of the best prepared food in the city. Eons better than Whole Foods. They make all of their food in small batches and they are blooming with flavor. Some of the winners are the macaroni and cheese, roasted broccoli, polenta with tomato jam, wheatberry salad, spetzle, cabbage, their sandwiches are amazing.....
They also have all of the Humphrey Slocumbe flavors available for scoop.
Their bakery is beyond amazing with mini cupcakes, waffle chocolate, beautiful cakes, cookies, tres leches, etc.
A great place to fatten up for the winter :) -

It's easy to get carried away in here. I like how it shares its space with Falletti's and how it's very easy to get to the two confused, both because there's no wall separating them and because they both have Italian names. The Humphry Slocombe ice cream isn't cheap, but it's delicious.
They need more seating, although it's comfortable sitting outside at the sidewalk tables. Who knew a view of the DMV parking lot could be so pleasant?Listed in: Within One Square Mile of Me

Decided it was time to try some new items since I was here to satisfy y Rabanada fix.
Tried 3 new items :
pancake breakfast mini cupcake $1.95
butter croissant $2.50
tres leches cake $3.95
And of course had to get another piece of rabanada
I really wanted to like the cupcake especially since it's a bite for almost $2. While the yellow cake was dry the maple frosting with crumbled bacon was good. I want to think that maybe it was dry from sitting. Just don't think I will try again for $2.
The croissant was good: buttery and flaky, but I like them I little darker when they come out of the oven. I would buy again because It's close by, but my preference remains Patisserie Phillipe.
Tres Leches cake was sooo delish with bits of kiwi and pineapple. Oh so moist and oozing with the sweet milk mixture it was soaked in. They only thing I didn't like so much was the meringue top, I did pick up my slice in the evening and the meringue just tasted a little stale. It was a generous slice for $3.95 and will definitely buy again.1 Previous Review: Show all »

San Francisco, CA
First few times I graced Delessio I was convinced this was some 5 star shit. Since coming back maybe over a dozen times I've not quickly realized that while it's better than average prepared grocery food it's still not as good as Whole Food (pains me to say that) and the variety is somewhat lacking as well.
I've tried almost every dish they have. Mac and Cheese is definitely a highlight and really delicious. The chicken parm was surprisingly good as well. Thai chicken, BBQ Brisket, Meat loaf are all pretty good. Some of the dishes however shouldn't be sitting for as long as they do. I also think they should be a little more creative with their veggies which mainly just consists of steamed carrots and undercooked broccoli.
The dessert section is extremely decadent and is full of tasty treats. Awesome cookies and they have some crazy churro on steroids if you're into them. Their drink selection is a little weak and frankly it is annoying and confusing at first how you can't pay for a drink from Faletti's. Prices are what you'd expect. Parking is a big time plus though! -

Someone with a sweet-tooth as big as mine should NOT live within walking distance to a place like Delessio.
The cupcakes here are divine, and creating a selection of the mini ones makes for great birthday gifts or surprises for friends--especially when you don't know their flavor preferences.
On another note, I haven't seen it here, but the bread pudding from Delessio is out of this world.
Best of all: you can get Humphrey Slocombe ice cream here!!! (Yes, that *does* merit three exclamation points.)
...Nothing better than a scoop after a rough afternoon at the DMV (a block away)--then you can walk it off along the panhandle (two blocks away) and into GG park. :) -

This is part of the seamless trio at this location, that is Falletti + Delessio + Peet's.
The food (hot entrees & salad bar) often looks amazing, but the $9.99 per pound price is quite expensive. Just pick a plate to dine-in or a to-go brown box from the shelf next to the hot foods section, and just help yourself to the goodies. Be careful not to fill with too many heavy (water content) salad bar items. Moderation is the key, I was able to assemble a nice variety for around $8. http://media1.px.yelpc... Looks good right? Add a decadent dessert (lemon meringue tart with toasted coconut) for around $3 something, http://media1.px.yelpc... and I was happy as can be. -

I found this place on a discussion board discussing the best place to get tres leches cake in san fran. And that's exactly what I went here for. I didn't eat anything else (besides the white chocolate bubble wrap, which i can emphatically NOT recommend), but my friends seemed to be pretty impressed with their food.
Now on to the tres leches cake. I wasn't expecting a whole lot, from a deli attached to a supermarket. And I've had a rash of disappointing tres leches cakes lately. But this one blew me away. Don't get me wrong, it's not the best out there, but a significant cut above the mediocre masses. It's a self-serve setup, and when I got to the tres leches I saw a rather unimpressive display of two lonely pieces of not moist enough tres leches cake. As I served it up to my to go box, it fell into three pieces, which I then had to scoop into the box. But as it fell apart, I noticed that despite the lack of milk surrounding the cake, it was super moist.
And then when I tasted it, I was rewarded with an amazingly good tres leches cake. Very moist and sweet, and perhaps a touch of another flavor I can't put my hands on. I'd give this tres leches cake an 8/10.Listed in: Tres Leches

My go to place when I can't figure out what to eat! This place reminds me of Whole Foods on a smaller scale - but fits the bill since it's up the street from my work. I've been working in this area for almost 4 years so they have to be doing something right if this is my go to choice of the many food spots here in the NOPA.
Their cold food section is awesome - salad bar with lots of fresh cut carrots, cucumbers, lettuce, spinach, radish, diced or shredded chicken, chopped hard boiled eggs - what more could you ask for? I was and still am crave their grilled eggplant but for the last 2 months I have not seen it available.
I must admit their hot food section though is amazing - they need to add new dishes to their selection. I'm a little burnt out with their tofu dish, mac and cheese, meat loaf etc... I will however always go for their broccoli which is one of my fav dishes.
I also love their dessert section - for any one of my employees' birthdays we pick up a cake for them. My two hands down favorite cakes are the German Chocolate and the the Yellow Cake with Chocolate Frosting (I can't remember the name at the moment) but you'll know what I am talking about when you see it - it's one of their most popular cakes! [ it's square with a rose on top] Their array of cookies, pastries and mini cupcakes are delicious and dangerous! I have to purposely not look in that direction which is hard because that is where you end up paying for your food and making that last impulse decision to give in to all their sweets! (not necessarily a bad thing)
Lastly, they also offer "Humphry Slocombe" a SF based ice cream spot that donates a portion to SF schools - which I am in total support of. My favorite is the blue bottle infused! Yummm! Again - another reason why I have this love/hate relationship with their dessert area. :) -

I am so glad I don't live close to this place because I'd go broke....quick! I think their salad bar/hot food bar is about a buck more then Whole Foods and imo while they have less in the way of selection, the meatloaf, mac n cheese and green beans were all amazing!
Their desserts look amazing (I tried the bread pudding w/ blueberries...It was ok, I think it would have been better minus the blueberries) too but their customer service tops it all. And lately that's been real hard to come by...so kudos to you guys ;) for great eats, drinks, specialty items and a great staff to boot.
I will be back for sure....soon! -

this is a semi upscale market and bakery inside of Falettis.
it can get expensive, but the steam table food is usually fresh and scrumptious. lots of healthyness in their selection of foods.
it ranges from rottissire chicken, salads, ethnic sorts of rice, deli sandwiches, cupcakes, cakes...you name it.
it's a good neighborhood joint, and i highly recommend it for cakes and a quick healthy bite to eat.
just be sure to bring at least $10-20 if you get anything! -

I checked early in the week to request a FRESH large German Chocolate Cake for Friday. They told me it would be in Friday at 2pm. I called after 2pm on Friday and specifically asked if they had received a FRESH GCCake. They said 'yes'. I ran over to the store and was only then told that no GCCake had arrived that day and the cake I wanted was two days old. With guests arriving shortly I was in a position where I had to purchase a substandard cake. Though it may be tasty, for my standard of entertaining it was not worh $32.95.

Okay, first off, I *want* to like Delessio's. I've told myself that their mac and cheese is delicious...even though it's gotten blander and blander with each visit.
Today I went in for said mac and cheese to find they were out, but working on a fresh batch. Excellent! I busy myself until it's ready, purchasing a little sample bag of that intriguing chocolate bubble wrap while I wait.
So I settle down with my lunch and decide to cheat by nibbling on this bubble wrap before the real food and OHMYFUCKINGGOD, this shit is disgusting. Not just meh, not just okay, but "I will finally make a yelp profile just to express my disdain for this chocolate that made me want to vomit" kind of bad.
The offending flavor was white chocolate with lime and sea salt. I've wanted to try this enticing combo since I first stepped into Delessio a month ago. It was horrid. Waaay too salty, sickeningly so. I tried the other flavors (peanut butter with coffee beans, dark chocolate with crisp rice, white and dark chocolate with cocoa nibs) with the latter being the only palatable one. At $24.95 this stuff ought to be heaven in my mouth. Instead I used today's bland mac (what happened to the sourdough bread crumbs they used to top it with?) to get the taste out of my mouth.
Next time, I'll stick with Vosges; their bars are worth the price tag, and I wouldn't take chocolate bubble wrap if they were handing it out for free. -

I'll save you the pontification about how the neighborhood fought for this kind of tenant mix in the Broderick Place development, and simply say, DeLessio fucking rules.
I have a friend who lives across the street (YES RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET YOU LUCKY TRAMP!) and it makes for good times, because nothing goes better with two hours of Project Runway like cheddared polenta with tomato jam, Israeli couscous zucchini salad, tres leches cake, and two of the best chocolate chip cookies ever made. Also, according to the local expert on the foods of the Latin Caribbean, DeLessio's Cuban pork pannini hot sandwich is a more reasonable facsimile of a cuban sandwich than anywhere else on this godforsaken coast.
There is nothing like artfully prepared, dynamite-tasting rich foods to help you appreciate the beauty of your existence.Listed in: Denizen

Sure, they have a full spread of desserts, but they have hot and cold buffets as well.
After a neighborhood restaurant told us basically they didn't have any of the food on their menu, we walked over to Delessio to see what was available. The nice thing about a hot food take-out is that everything you see is cooked and ready to go. No menu mismatches. Just put it in a box and pay $9.93 a pound.
We picked up some salad, Thai chicken, long green beans, kale and cabbage, polenta, and ham quiche. 2 of us filled up for $18.38. There were tables and chairs inside, napkins and compostable potato starch utensils, with an odd 1950s station on the sound system.
Compostable potato starch utensils. Will we start calling these potatoware? -

They absolutely do make the best chocolate chip cookies...Oatmeal Chocolate Chip. Soft, gooey, delicious, It's like crack for babies.
After buying lunch, as an afterthought, of I almost forgot this bag of cookies.
I approach the counter to buy them.
Cashier: "That will be six forty five please."
Me: "I think these are the best cookies ever, don't you think so?"
(cashier sarcastically glares back)
Me: " I guess you're sick of hearing that."
Cashier: (says honestly) "Yeah, I kinda am." (smiles)
Me: " I understand, there are certain things I get asked a lot all the time ."
Me: " I know! You know what? Would this make it better? Dude, these are the shittiest cookies I ever had. But for some damn reason I keep coming back for these shitty cookies."
Cashier: (laughs) "Don't tell the chef about that." (points to pastry chef working busily in the background, fussing with a sheetcake)
Me: Good I've made you laugh, now I'm gonna go get some milk to go with my shitty cookies.
Cashier: (laughs again) "You're cute, hope you have a good day."
Yes. These are the shittiest cookies I ever had.
Go to Delessio's and be disappointed.Listed in: Places to go in the Fillmore…

Review from Seong P.
Someone mangled the name of this place so I thought they were trying to say "delicioso" which would be a cheesey name for anything food related. Stupid names make me not want to go to places.
Luckily, we were nearby and I saw from the sign on the window that it was really Delessio. That's acceptable. It was about 4pm and we were hungry but we had dinner plans at 8:30 so we didn't want to eat too much. There were lots of options like mac n cheese, rotisserie chickens, salads, desserts and deli meats. We opted for the cuban sandwich and it was delicious. Juicy pork and ham with melted cheese and some kind of aioli on a nice roll. It might've been heavy for one person but it was great between two.
I also picked up a lactose and dairy free coffee chocolate ice cream that I tried later after dinner. I know it doesn't sound right but it was really good and my stomach did not hurt me. -

I'm in sandwich heaven...let me rave about the Delessio meatloaf sandwich. Contrary to other reviewers, the bread (a thin foccacia) was not soggy. The sandwich was perfectly constructed. Let me explain.
(1) Bread was thin and chewy. A lot of places give you too much bread or bread that's too thick. The proportion of fillings to bread is very important. They understand this.
(2) Flavors meld. I had their roast beef sandwich too. I get the feeling that they've given a lot of thought to providing the right cheese and condiments. With the meatloaf sandwich, the cheese is mild and the tomato sauce is tangy. There isn't too much mayo. The fresh basil is such a nice touch.
(3) Quality ingredients. Fresh basil. Moist meatloaf, thickly sliced.
(4) Height of sandwich is manageable. It's tall enough that you have to open wide but not so tall that it's impossible to bite into.
(5) Construction holds up. The sandwich does not drip or fall apart.
The vanilla creamsicle mini cupcake was a perfect dessert.
Also, their brisket is out of this world. No, it's not a place for dieters, but the food is really, really good. -

I have to agree with my mom, Heila D. on this one- Delessio's prepared food is ridiculously greasy, EVERY TIME! Literally oil-slick grease layers whatever dish you put any of their prepared foods in. I can feel the lard forming on my thighs as I take every bite when I eat here. And no, you would think that grease=good, but surprisingly that is not the case here. It's like they literally pour half a cup of canola oil over every prepared dish.
I haven't tried their desserts, but I have to admit that they do look very good. Expensive, but they look well made. And, they have a small array of fine cheeses to choose from as well. Come here if you don't have time to hit up Whole Foods. Other than that, you can get the same stuff that will taste better and is cheaper at Whole Paycheck. Sorry, but it's true.Listed in: "EH"

i don't understand how you can dis Delessio. I love it so much that I'm honestly not interested in knowing you if you don't like it.
Here's the thing: I do not cook. I don't. My apt has a beautiful kitchen with my housemates' lovely cookware from Williams Sonoma, but I just don't have the patience & I don't care. When I cook, it is an EVENT, not an every day thing. Anyway, Delessio is pretty much my saving grace and if you play your cards right, you can get out of here spending less than 10 dollars. Just utilize the smaller boxes. You don't need that much mac & cheese anyway.
I usually grab a protein, some veg, a tiny container of mac & cheese & a cookie (goddamn, the chocolate chip cookies here are the fucking best), if I'm feeling sassy. Everything I've had is usually really good and this one Saturday morning, I wandered in and they had fried chicken, and I was looking at it so lustily that the very sweet lady that works there gave me a nice sample and I swear my entire perception of life changed.
God, I love this place. -

This is a true story (TRUE STOREEEE) about one girl who went on date with a guy that DIDN'T like cheese!!!
Honestly though....This is number 10 on the List of Requirements for my guy. It wasn't even on the list before I went on said date! He wasn't even lactose intolerant...he just didn't like it. How is that even possible!! NOT liking cheese!! He was cray-cray.
Delessio's triggered the Anti-Cheese Boy flash back today. Macaroni and Cheese, Potatoes Au Gratin, Tomato, Cucumber Feta Salad, Polenta with Parmesan!! I loaded a carton up with Mac and Cheese and went home happy to sit my lazy ass on the couch to carbo and fat load. MMMmmm......sooo goood. I love cheese.
Thank god I kicked his ass to the curb and didn't ever call him back after the first date...it would have been a disaster. Besides..he had facial hair. Another no-no. -

Yesterday I played DD for a group of friends who ate some laced carrot cake.
After a really delightful couple of hours of blissful languidity at Dolores, we headed over to GGP to see the Jug Band Festival (holy god I love San Francisco). En route, we stopped at Delessio's to get a picnic lunch.
I wholeheartedly recommend setting loose and watching a handful of stoned people wonder around the self-serve islands here. You'd think they were at the Wonka Factory sans the slave labor.
After less than half an hour of putting various kinds of foods into various boxes, they were all very, very proud of themselves for making such rapid-fire menu selections (they basically took a bit of everything). -
Review from Autumn K.
Maybe four stars on a regular day but today I happened to be well into the black hole of PMS and that sugary buffet of sweets they had on display was enough to give me a visual sugar fix. I left with one small treat and I was more than satisfied. It's pretty amazing when the sights and smells of magnificent sweets are enough to pacify an hysterical premenstrual nut job jonesing for an entire chocolate cake and a side of creme brulee.
I also happen to be an UNfan of the DeLessio on Market and this outpost knocks their presentation out of the park. Everything here looks more appetizing, seems more lovingly made, and is honestly easier to identify because it doesn't look all Moulin-Rouge inside this shop (the Market Street store is awfully dark).
I already liked Falletti but now I think I might be in love. -
Review from Liz S.
Delessio and Falletti, with Peet's attached - let's hear it for double letters!
After discovering how much I liked Falletti market, I had to go back to try Delessio for take-out. I am SO glad that I did.
First of all, just like I said in my review for Falletti, parking is ridiculously easy. I may never brave the jacked-up parking garage underneath Whole Foods on California again.
Secondly, neither the grocery store nor the take-out is very crowded. No "take a number" system here. You get your to-go box or boxes, go to the end of the line, and fill them with what ever you want and how much of it you need. Everything in the line costs the same, so none of that crazy math stuff needed (impossible after 6pm).
I bought a whole roast chicken, some mac & cheese, and some brisket. My total came to $28 for the equivalent of dinner for 2 for 2 nights (including a little bit of leftover salad I had at home). I guess that would also be considered dinner for 4, but like I said, I don't do that crazy math stuff after 6pm. I was in and out in just under 15 minutes, which will probably be shortened next time since it will no longer be my first time.
The chicken was well flavored and moist, with the meat falling off of the bone. The brisket was tender and had a great sweet/savory sauce on the top - delicious. And the mac & cheese was just right - it had something special in it like nutmeg to give it a wonderful, adult flavor.
Comfort-food to go. I LOVE it.
I will definitely go back to Delessio, especially since I have yet another section of the store I want to try - dessert! -

Oh. My. Goodness.
I'm speechless. I asked my girlfriend to bring me back a sandwich on her way back from Brunch. She stopped at this place and brought me the most godly of sandwiches ever devised: a red snapper po'boy.
Words can not describe my feelings for this sandwich. I'm not even going to try. What I will say is that I'm extremely full and it has been hours since I had the sandwich, but I still crave it. I may go back for dinner I want one so badly. -

Surprisingly, this place has got the goods! .. mouthwatering warm food and salad bar (though I recommend arriving early for the freshest servings), and a pastry/dessert selection that pretty much leaves you wanting to try everything they've got.
I just picked up a Buche de Noel (yule log cake) on Christmas Eve and, for $40, it was perfect.. and delicious; one of the richest, most perfectly delicious cakes I've ever had.
By the way, Delessio is attached to Faletti Foods - an upscale small-batch gourmet grocer (and everything at both establishments is priced accordingly); Faletti is also attached to a Peet's Coffee (on the other side). It's almost kind of hard to tell where Faletti stops and Delessio starts, once you're inside, but it's such a great fit that it really doesn't matter. Good food abounds under this roof.
Oh, and when I came in to pick up the Buche last week, I noticed their Brazilian French Toast - sitting there behind glass, right near the register. I wasn't even as hungry as I was curious. It seemed rather funny-shaped and coated in shimmering crystals.. and it had an exotic name, so I just had to.. And damn! I'm so glad I did.. sweet bread soaked in cream overnight (I think there was some rum involved?) and then deep fried and rolled in sugar.. There's probably more to it than that, but I'll leave the specifics to the good folks at the Delessio counter. I'm going to stop by and pick one up tomorrow morning though.. so yeah, don't go buying them all up or anything. Or if you do, can you please bring me one (yes, I'm serious). Thanks! -

Lends a much needed gourmet boon to the neighborhood. There are a number of hidden gem food spots in this section, but Delessio's market just throws it all over the edge.
This is the second Delessio market and, just like with the first (at Haight and Market down by Flax), the strength and quality of the food is so good that it's likely to draw a crowd that will help to single-handedly alter the ethos of the neighborhood.
"HEALTH" FOOD... NOT.
Ignats P is right - the hot food bar is a heart attack waiting to happen, but, man, what a way to go. The potatos au gratin are outstanding.
THE PRIGS HAVE IT
One question, though... is it an absolute requirement at the Delessio Markets that the sandwich guys have to be prigs? When I've been to either locale and bought a sandwich I feel like I've been putting the sandwich guy out or something merely by asking for the hot pannini or what have you. And I know it's not just me. I've seen the sando guy literally roll his eyes at a customer's simple request that the sando guy pass over a pre-made sandwich. Is this treatment supposed to be European or something? -

It's a Falletti Foods and a Delessio all smooshed together, and there's a peets in there too. I'm all confused.
But the bread pudding and the 'bubble wrap' chocolate with peanut brittle are AMAZING. that much is clear to me now.
