I only been here once for brunch.
It was on a Saturday at eleven.
I ordered a breakfast burrito.
The roasted potatoes were divine.
It was big and full of goodness.
I craved their french toast.
Bottomless Mimosas what?
I will try again when I can.
This is not an attempt to be creative.
After being told that I have the honor of having written the first review posted on their outdoor board, I have to update after today's brunch. Luckily it only requires a few words:
Beautifully cooked fillet. Truffle hollandaise. Aforementioned delicious potatoes. Nearly perfectly cooked over-medium eggs.
Yes. Oh yes.

Brunch with one of my favorite Mikes is always a reason to celebrate, but today's brunch involved… Read more »
Oh Man, my britches need unbuttoning. It was a Saturday afternoon full of bottomless mimosas and the breakfast mac. The breakfast mac is an award winning (IMO) take on the ever famous macaroni and cheese. You take the classic mac and cheese add some more good ass cheese, put two sunny side eggs on top of it, some bacon and add some slice of tomatoes and Voila! You have a dish that is as big as a Hungry Man meal but tastes way better.
And that was NOT the mimosas talking, it was amazing! I need some more, I tried to eat the whole bowl but my stomach was not in agreement and could only eat half. The mimosas on the other hand, I may have had a whole pitcher to myself. :)
I've had mixed experiences at Deleece on Southport, so it's taken me a while to try the Grill Pub. But when someone as adorable as Sarah B whispers the words "bottomless mimosas" in your ear, it's hard to say no. So off to brunch we go.
The mimosas were a given. Our server -- who seems to be new, since she is being coached by another server -- is canny enough to bring glasses and a couple of pitchers of mimosas. The regular mimosa is 5 bucks, so to break even, you need to drink more than three. We more than broke even.
The brunch menu is crazy. Sure, there's your standard eggs and pancakes and eggs benedict. And there are the variations you might expect, like the breakfast burrito and the chilaquilas. But lobster benedict with white truffle hollandaise? And pear ginger French toast with maple whipped cream? Call the ambulance, I'm eating it all! Actually, I settled on mac and cheese, made with cavatappi pasta, bacon and tomatoes, and topped with two eggs, sunny side up. It is breakfast, after all.
Somehow, at 11am on a Saturday, the place is mostly empty. It's not like the place is new -- it opened more than a year ago. Is the word not out? Do folks not realize they don't need to wait for an hour at their standard brunch places? Who cares. All I know is that even without a gallon of champagne, I've got me some good brunch eats at a reasonable price, and that's fine with me.
I've been here for brunch today and all I have to say is "yummy yummy yummy!"
But I will translate for you since not many of you will get it.
$15 bottomless mimosas. I don't care that its got booze in it, orange juice is good for you! With or without the champagne!
All of the menu looked so good but I ended up getting the bacon, cheddar and onion frittata, which was like an omelet. It had roasted potatoes and toast on the side. I really liked that they had some strange options like the breakfast mac and cheese. I would have ordered that but, I was dying for some potatoes. I guess that gives us a reason to come back for another round of mimosas!
The mimosas are kinda strong (which is good by the way!) so I would wait until I start eating before I start pouring a glass. By the end I was pretty tipsy (and happy!)
After visiting Deleece several times in the last month, we decided to give Deleece Grill Pub a try as it is down the street from our house.
We went for the prix-fixe dinner on a Sunday night and very much enjoyed ourselves.
They start you off with a big basket of homemade potato chips and the prix-fixe menu changes weekly and offers a wide variety of options (most of which are not on the regular menu).
We started with the beef carpaccio and the butternut squash soup. Both were nice, light starts to the meal. For our entrees we had the lobster crepes and the chicken mac and cheese. The lobster crepes were a wonderful, delicate blend of flavors and the mac and cheese was decadent. For dessert we had the apple pie and the brownie a la mode.
They also have an interesting, rotating beer list, which is all bottles as they are waiting to purchase a tap. They do have a couple Goose Island offerings on tap because the brewery provided them with the equipment.
THE FACTS:
$20 prix-fixe on Sunday and Monday which includes three courses
Nice beer and wine list
Deleece. Deelightful. Deleecious. Delovely. DeBottomlessMimosaBrunch.
You get the picture. How can one not super brunch score when Deleece presents a special as luring as $15 bottomless mimosas? Bottomless. You heard. As in, "stay all day and sip to your hearts content girls, we don't mind." And boy, did we!
Snappy server tweaked the formula a bit to modify our pours via pitcher instead of glass (good boy!) while everything else fell perfectly into feasting place. No lines to wait in? Check. Hot server? Check. Warm beignets with chocolate dipping sauce? Check. Hot coffee with real cream? Check. Fabulous frittata with goat cheese, spinach and portabellas? Check!
I am quite mystified, however, by the lack of weekend crowd at Deleece... where are the throngs of bottomless brunch revelers?? The only area I see where they possibly lack slightly is that their menu is a bit bare for my liking and could probably use some eggspansion. Get it?! Other than that, the recipe for this breakfast backdrop is truly eggceptional. Heh. Delectable Deleece... you made my weekend!
I spent last night searching for somewhere to go and fill the mac-and-cheese cravings that the mrs. and I had. I settled on Deleece GP after seeing the asiago, bacon, and garlic breadcrumb Mac and cheese on their menu.
We decided to split a bunch of appetizers and small plates. We shared a bowl of butternut squash soup that was okay but nothing great. It was rich, but lacking in something. Perhaps a bit of spice would have given the dish a bit more complexity. It did have the benefit however of really bringing out the beer taste in the beer-battered cheese curds. Those were excellent. Nicely battered and fried just right. Same with the calimari. Light battering, a tasty miso aioli with it. Both of the fried appetizers were excellent.
I went for the asiago mac and my wife had the mozzarella, mushroom, and almond. She quite enjoyed hers, though there was a bit much mushroom in it for her taste. I adored mine. It was some of the best mac-and-cheese I've ever had. The chunks of bacon getting covered in the garlicy breadcrumbs, and the cheesy goodness. I cannot recommend that enough.
The service was great. Our waiter kept our drinks filled, checked up on us without hovering. Exactly what you want in a nice weeknight dinner. We will definitely be coming back here. Hopefully for the brunch everyone raves about.
I've now been to Deleece for both dinner and brunch and I really enjoy it. For dinner I had to have the mac n' cheese as my side which was definitely a good option, and had the salmon as my main. Great neighborhood place with good food at reasonable prices.
The decor is exposed brick walls, tables line the outside with booth seating on one side with a contemporary type feel. The service is friendly, accommodating, and relaxed yet attentive.
The only downside is that they don't offer the mac n' cheese as a side at brunch. They have a special breakfast mac which is great if you like eggs, but I would love for them to offer it as a side.
i found the bottom of the bottomless mimosa.
Best $15 you'll spend on a weekend morning, trust me.
Get there.
::::::clink::::::
ps. if the beignets are on special, do yourself a favor and get them...and ask for a spoon to eat the chocolate with. Ok, or bread works, too. C'est magnifique!
pps. as I walked past the 2+ hour brunch lines at Toast and Orange on this beautiful Saturday...I thought to myself "what the hell is wrong with you people?" Get to Deleece. Seriously.
ppps. our waiter was hot, and served us at least 14 pitchers of mimosas + 13 pots of coffee.

There are several things that will culminate in a 5-star brunch experience for me...
1. Coffee. Much.… Read more »
Forgive me, o Yelp gods, ahead of time, so that I may be forgiven for the blasphemy I shall express in this review:
Do you ever find, while Yelping, that sometimes, you read a very specific review of a place you'd like to try, and those words become your expectations for your visit to said place? Do you read about Deleece Grill Pub and its breakfast mac 'n cheese, with a "full pound of bacon, crispy and full of flavor" and seemingly convinced, go there for brunch the next day?
If so, you may be susceptible to disappointment (GASP!) when the meal you order does NOT turn out the way it was described. Having read about Deleece Grill Pub's breakfast mac 'n cheese with white cheddar, tomatoes, bacon, and eggs, I was instantly sold and brought 3 mealmates along to affirm its deliciousness.
The space is cute, with exposed brick, lively photographic prints of Chicago landmarks, and squishy booths. Our server was laid back in a stoner-esque kind of way...which meant when I asked for my eggs from the mac 'n cheese to be scrambled on the side, they came out sunny side up on the side. Also, he dropped off cream with the coffee, but no sugar...come back, spaceman!
Anyway, onto the mac 'n cheese--suuuuper rich, with a distinct thick cheddar flavor, this stuff was hard to eat a lot of...I made my way through about 2/3 of the bowl, and I contribute that only to luck. The bacon, sadly, was not crispy. Nor was there a pound of it in my bowl. Major sad face.
Considering the other yum yummy things on the brunch menu ($15 bottomless mimosas? Where are you?) I will be back, and next time, I'll leave my Yelpretensions at home.
I really loved this Deleece Grill Pub. They have a 3 course menu for twenty bucks on Sunday nights (I think Thursday too, but double check first). Yanny and I had an amazing dinner here tonight. We both ordered the three course - Bruschetta, butternut squash soup, pork chop served with mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach, chicken mac and cheese, fruit/cheese plate with candied walnuts, and cheesecake with pomegranate reduction.
Soup - pretty good, but not the highlight of the meal. I tasted some sage in there, not sure if that's the right way to go with butternut squash, but it wasn't bad.
Bruschetta - fantastic. Really fresh, tons of garlic.
Pork Chop - french style, bone in and grilled to perfection. The pork was great, but what really set it off was the cherry mustard. Yum.
Chicken Mac - lots of great textures - garlic bread crumbs, tomatos, and tons of pepper on the chicken.
The fruit and cheese plate was pretty basic, I'm not sure what the cheese on it was, but there was only one kind and I think it was made from goat milk. Red grapes, pineapple, and candied walnuts. Nice if you aren't that into sweets.
Cheesecake - I was really stuffed by the time this came around, but I still ate it. Could have used some more of the pom reduction because I couldn't taste it much over the cheesecake.
I thought that it was a great deal. The restaurant is really nice looking and service was great. Definitely give it a try.
Went here for Sunday brunch with my husband and two of our friends. While I would normally have been over the moon about a $15 dollar bottomless mimosa, I had to pass because I was on my way to work after brunch. A great deal, though, I'd think if you're the type to put back a barrel of mimosas on a weekend morning.
The service was good - though our waiter seemed a bit hungover, we didn't have to wait long for a table or more coffee or anything, really. Seemed like a friendly bunch. Big TV with the football game on, nice not-too-loud music... generally a great atmosphere.
Intriguing menu - I had the breakfast pasta (cavatappi, scrambled eggs, basil, goat cheese, sundried tomatoes) and it was fantastic. Truly something to write home about. Husband had the standard benedict and loved it, friends had breakfast mac and cheese and raved. I asked for a dinner menu just to check it out, and it looks wonderful - four different kinds of mac and cheese? Awesome.
Two caveats: skip the beignets. They were over-cooked and chewy. Also, my husband got a bloody mary and said it wasn't spicy enough and there wasn't enough celery salt. He ended up adding lots of Tabasco. I can't imagine why anyone would drink tomato juice even under duress though, so I can't comment other than what he said. Maybe just stick to the mimosas?
If you're the type who likes your brunch smothered in caramel sauce or stuffed with cream cheese this might not be the place for you. The only real super-sweet thing on the menu was a Pear Ginger French Toast with maple whipped cream and toasted pecans. Sounds coma-inducing, no? But that was really it. Almost everything else was savory - but sounded excellent.
Very chill atmosphere, decent prices (four meals, beignets, bloody mary, coffee all around and a diet coke came to 58 bucks), good service, great food, short wait, found parking immediately... what more could I ask for?
Well, if they could write me a note to get out of work so I could take advantage of the bottomless mimosas... maybe then, 5 stars.
I had a Groupon for this place, so my boyfriend and I showed up at about 6:45 on a Friday night, hoping for a warm place to get some delicious food.....and Deleece delivered!
The place was mostly empty when we arrived, though it began to fill by the time we left. The host graciously said "I'll give you two a nice warm table," and our waiter was pleasant, cheerful, and helpful throughout. My boyfriend and I started with Allagash beers - I had the White, and he had the Tripel. Both were really great brews, with wonderful hints of spice and citrus. The waiter also poured them for us into our glasses, coming by after a while to refill. I'm not sure I've ever been to a restaurant where they have "beer service," not just wine service throughout your meal. It was appreciated. It's the little things!
It took us a million years to decide what to eat because everything looked so good. Within 5 minutes, before we even TASTED anything, we knew we had to come back to try more.
So I got the bacon, egg, and cheddar burger - the BF got the mushrooms and gouda burger. My side was butternut squash soup (it's a starter, actually), and his was the asiago/bacon mac 'n' cheese.
MMMMMMMMMMMMM.
The burgers really are great. You can tell that they are freshly made, and they are so meaty and almost rustic the way they fall apart in your mouth. Not like those gross, hard, once-frozen patties at other places. Even the lettuce and tomatoes on the side had more flavor than your average burger fixins'. And they know how to cook a medium rare, thank heavens. Can't tell you how many times I've ordered a burger somewhere and it came out without a trace of pink. Um, no.
The butternut squash soup was warm, rich, and delicious...and it was gone in 2 minutes since I couldn't stop eating it. The mac 'n' cheese was, of course, rich and decadent with big old chunks of bacon in it! A side portion was good enough for us, since the BF and I are both skinny little ones, but if you can handle big rich food, then knock yourself out and go for the big one. Everything was just a *bit* salty - I say this being fully aware that I had bacon on the burger and the mac 'n' cheese and duh, bacon is salty. Still, I just do so much of my own cooking at home these days that I am really sensitive to salty restaurant food. Still, everything was delicious.
Service was great, our coupon was accepted with no snags, and we both got huge portions of burger deliciousness. It really is a great little gem of a restaurant, and I'm not even sure why Mia Francesca was packed and this place wasn't. Can't wait to come back and try their brunch!
Did someone say "Bottomless Mimosa Brunch?"
Because there's nothing better than getting your mid-Sunday morning buzz on, I'm a huge advocate of the bottomless mimosa brunch. $15 at Deleece buys you unlimited mimosas. UNLIMITED! For $15! That, my friends, is a steal. And in case you're wondering? They're not those weak, watered down mimosas you see at some places (ehem, Broadway Cellars). These are sinfully sweet, bubbly, heavy on the champs mimosas... and they will get you to a nice, tipsy place in a hurry!
Maybe you're someone who appreciates something other than booze at brunch. Pfft... Well, if you're one of THOSE people (I kid) you'll be happy to find some pretty excellent food on the brunch menu. While it's a small menu, I felt all tastes were covered with the options offered. We're talking frittatas, eggs benedict, two eggs any way you want em and a nice smattering of things like sandwiches, burgers and salads if you're in the mood for lunch-type food.
Me? I'm an egg kinda gal on the weekends, so I happily ordered the egg sandwich. Two eggs, over hard, with white cheddar, bacon and spinach on grilled multigrain bread served with a side of breakfast potatoes. You just drooled a bit, right? It was ON POINT. Not greasy, a bit lighter than it sounds due to the abundance of spinach and just delicious.
My dining partner in crime? She'd been hearing about the breakfast mac and cheese and decided to give it a go. Um, YES! It's probably the richest dish I've ever tried for breakfast, but if you're feeling indulgent, it's the way to go. Bacon lovers rejoice. This baby is chock-full of your crispy evil mistress so every bite tastes smoky and amazing.
Another thing I can't say enough about was the amazing service provided by our waitress. She would deliver another mimosa round before we were halfway through with the previous glass. "No rush. Just dropping another one by for you!" A woman after my own heart! She didn't seem miffed that my friend and I sat there for a few hours and downed champagne. And don't worry. We tipped this nice gal quite well for taking such good care of us.
Sunday funday accomplished!
Interior: Deleece on Clark
Day of Chicago Marathon. Bears bye week. 35ish degrees outside.
Scene:
5 ladies doing the Sunday Brunch thing.
My order:
I opted for the brunch special, since I'd never seen anything like it on a menu anywhere: Battered breakfast sausage on a stick served with two eggs. Basically sausage served corn dog style. Awesome. Although I will say the server said it is served with 5 battered sausage sticks and I only got 4. Small detail. I did my eggs poached as I love poached eggs and am nearly unable to do them myself. Of course when I say nearly I mean not at all. The presentation was a bit off. It needed to have fruit garnish or something else on the plate. But interesting and tasty.
Service was great. She came back often to check on us. Bloody Mary was not the best I've had. Or the worst. But I'm a Bloody Mary snob. One of our party opted for the $15.00 all you can drink mimosas, and I can assure you she got her moneys worth. Why don't they also have $15.00 all you drink Bloodies? Just a suggestion.
amazing brunch at DGP!!!
went with my parents and bf yesterday and we all loved it! we were there right at 10:30 when it opened, there were already a few people inside. friendly fast waitress, interesting menu options, quick water and coffee refills.
dad had the breakfast burrito, mom had the fritatta with bacon, bf had the breakfast pasta, and i had the cake dogs which are PURE HEAVEN!!! (cake dogs are bfast snausages dipped in pancake batter and deep fried, served with 2 eggs, lovely.) everyone enjoyed his or her meal, were impressed with both quantity and quality.
DGP - get those cake dogs on permanent rotation!!! breakfast corndogs = amazing!!!
I love this place for brunch. No two ways about it. They have the best bottomless mimosa for $15 that I have yet to experience. I saw other tables with pitchers. That wasn't necessary for my girlie and I because our waitress was so on top of it that we had a refill before we were halfway done with our current. If that isn't a seller, I don't know what is.
Now, it's confession time. I am not a brunch girl. Sure, I love a late morning/early afternoon meal with my man or my girls but I am not a fan of eggs. I know, totally weird. My hangover/morning cravings include pizza and other cheesy and savory items. But when I peeped that this DeLeece had breakfast mac n cheese with bacon and tomatoes I was sold. I ordered that, sans the eggs.
F me running.... This might be the most delicious, decadent, sinful, bacon-ey thing that I have ever had. There must have been a full pound of bacon in my bowl, and it was still crispy and full of flavor. I felt terrible leaving over half of the dish there (no time for leftovers, on to the next drinking establishment) but I will be back. Mark my words. It will be nearly impossible not to order this every time I go but I am a lifer.
We came to this place because of Mary's recommendation. She nor Deleece failed to disappoint. I was a bit skeptical when the restaurant was not that busy and everyone raved about the Mac and Cheese because since when do adults go out for Mac and Cheese? Boy was I wrong!
The service was a good effort (could be improved but they try). Our drinks were amazing. In fact, one girl had to ask for more cranberry with her cranberry vodka since there really wasn't any to begin with. There was a lot on the menu, but our waiter provided good recommendations. He recommeded that we do the Mac and Cheese on the side instead of the whole meal (but who are we kidding, I definitely could have had that as a meal).
I had the Chicken Panini sandwhich which was excellent and not too greasy like some places. The Mac and Cheese with bacon and asiago was AMAZING! Who knew that this dish was for adults? Everyone else was pleased whether it was the salad, salmon, or BLT.
The downside is that the chairs inside are not very comfortable and some of the items seem pricey for what they are. Despite this, it is definitely a place to come again and I cannot WAIT to go to their Brunch which I hear is to die for. Until some Sunday morning...
This place is located right on Clark and School/Aldine.
I went here on a Friday night around 9pm, there were only a few people in the restaurant but that was fine. A little dark on the inside, but it was nice and clean and I liked the hardwood floors and the atmosphere.
Service was o.k., the food was great! I had a pesto chicken panini, it was amazing!!! I will definatley go back!!!
Problem: It's 5 PM on a Saturday afternoon and some friends from high school/college want to go out for a non-fast-food dinner
Goal: Find a restaurant for 6 people around 8PM somewhere in the Lakeview/Lincoln Park area that has available reservations
Considerations: Restaurant cannot be a sushi, Mexican, or seafood establishment
Solution: Deleece Grill Pub
I pass this place all the time and have always wanted to try it. Thankfully, while scanning our brains for restaurants our friend remembered Deleece and we called to see if they had any openings for a Saturday evening around 8PM. Since every other place in Chicago was completely booked we thought we were lucky that Deleece could get in a mid-sized group for patio seating.
I had a housewarming party to go to beforehand so I was going to meet everyone there. Of course I had had a few beers during the day and at the party so I was running late as usual. I hopped in a cab, got off at Clark/Aldine, and strutted into the restaurant. My friends had texted me letting me know they were on the patio, so I walked in and tried to find them as quickly as possible. The place was absolutely PACKED! I couldn't believe that this place was able to offer a reservation for 6 people when it was filled to the brim with patrons. I walked through for a minute and didn't see my friends on the patio. I walked outside, confused, looked down the block, and then realized I had accidentally walked into Mia Francesca instead of Deleece. Oops.
So I walked next door. The inside was completely empty minus a few stragglers at the bar. I walked out to the patio to meet my friends and even that was only about half full. It was quiet and we were able to have a great conversation between our table while at the same time not disturbing everyone else - you know how that "friends from college" conversations tend to get! Our waitress was nice, quick and attentive, and answered every question we threw at her.
Everything on the menu looked great - steaks, salads, chicken, sandwiches, etc. - filling, but nothing too heavy if you plan on going on a bender that night (kidding!) After scanning the menu for a second my heart started racing and I got all excited for the dreamiest menu item I have ever seen at a restaurant:
****MAC N' CHEESE WITH ASIAGO AND BACON, TOPPED WITH BREADCRUMBS****
(!!!!!!!)
Ok, I know mac n' cheese seems like something a child would order off the kids menu, or something you should just make at home, not something you wolf down in front of 5 of your good friends at a sit-down restaurant. However, asiago is my favorite cheese, and this meal would fulfill my mac n' cheese fantasy. Everyone else ordered their steaks and chicken, but not even I could be swayed by what would have been my second choice, the beer braised brisket.
And let me tell you.... it was the best damn Mac n' Cheese I have ever had.
The dish was huge. They didn't skimp on the bacon either; there must have been a quarter pound of it in there. The garlic breadcrumbs were the final part of the solution to a perfect meal. I seriously could not stop eating. If this were a math problem, this equation was totally balanced.
I never thought I'd say this, but it gave a one-two punch to Stanley's. It's Monday morning and I am still dreaming about this.
Everything else looked great, too. If I can tear myself away from the Mac n' Cheese next time I will have to get the brisket. Or the half chicken. Or the filet....
The average cost per person with tip came to about $25 - that factored in our dinners and about 2 drinks each. That, along with prime seating, attentive staff, last-minute reservation capability, and all else excellent, you can't go wrong here. I guess this place must be a bit more hoppin' during lunch because of their amazing specials, but even with that, I am completely shocked that more people were not here.
I had such a good time here on Sat night. I ordered the Caesar salad and was very impressed. I don't normally order Caesar salads, but every once in a while I want one. I'm super picky about the dressing. I don't want it to be too thick, too thin or too garlicky. The dressing at Deleece was awesome!! In addition to the Caesar dressing being yummy, the ranch is homemade and probably my favorite dressing to date anywhere! I also had the cheddar mac and cheese. It was a little gritty and didn't have a ton of flavor. I poured ranch over it and it made it much better. Lastly, I had the brussel sprouts and they were super tasty. Overall, I was so pleased with my meal. And the server was a doll. Very friendly. I can't wait to go back!
Deleece is what, like the 3rd restaurant to be in this location in the past few years? I hope the curse on this address is finally broken, because this is my new brunch spot!
I'll echo what others have said - the food is straightforward and tasty. The breakfast burrito was a monster, great hangover cure. The bkfast sandwich was a smidge greasy, and I thought there was too much spinach, not enough bacon. But still really good. I LOVED the roasted potatoes that came with both dishes. I've gotta say, a lot of brunch joints use potatoes as plate-filler and they're really just an afterthought. These were fantastic, perfectly cooked and seasoned, and I was pleasantly surprised.
Yay for bottomless coffee.
Yay for being seated immediately on a Saturday morning at 10something.
Yay for beignets with chocolate sauce! (Okay I didn't actually get to eat these but they looked delicious and I'm ordering them next time)
Yay for the delicious bite of mac and cheese I stole from a friend at another table! (Thanks Jamie)
If your idea of a great breakfast is more savory than sweet, then definitely check out Deleece. The majority of the brunch offerings focus on life's most important food groups: bacon, cheese, potatoes and eggs. Do it.
UPDATE 9/1/09 - the beignets taste as amazing as they look!
The anxiety. The desperation. The beads of sweat forming on my forehead.
We all know the feeling! The modern day existential crisis aka the 'where can we brunch without the dreaded 2-hour weekend wait' dilemma. But fortunately, no longer must we resort to the blind tactics of the old school-- we've got Yelp to help sort it all out! Our only requirement: bottomless mimosas sans wait. So basically, only the Mount Everest of orders!
8 blocks of um, spirited Cubs fans later and we've made it to the pearly gates of Deleece. Okay, maybe not pearly but the '$15 Bottomless Mimosa' sign in the door is certainly a beacon of bliss in Wrigleyville. We walk in and are immediately seated... no wait, no crying babies, no cramped quarters. And before you know it, our sweet server has delivered our first pitcher of perfect mimosas.
Our trio enjoyed our breakfast burritos (so much for mixing it up, eh?) filled with eggs, steak, chihuahua cheese, lots of guac, refried beans, sour cream and pico. Huge portions, as we were each only able to consume half. Our lovely server was happy to aid and abet in our excessive consumption of mimosas (for a few hours, actually) and we left full and happily tipsy.
I envision many more lazy, indulgent late weekend mornings at Deleece. But please, please save a table for me!
Brunch at Deleece: awesome.
I find it very amusing when items not normally served for breakfast are given a twist and put on a breakfast menu with the "breakfast" prefix: example "breakfast burrito" etc. Many items on Deleece's brunch menu fall along these lines.
"Breakfast sandwich" with eggs, cheddar, bacon and spinach on sourdough was very well executed and delicious.
Roasted red potatoes were sauteed crispy on the outside and seasoned extremely well. Definitely amongst the better "breakfast potatoes" I've had and deserve some serious acknowledgement. The "how are your potatoes" brunch barometer rates extremely high at Deleece.
I got to try the buttermilk pancakes too and they were a home run. Thick and fluffy without being too overbearing.
I am definitely coming back to this place for dinner some time.
Deleece: a great place to eat when you're hungover!
The food is delicious. I had a lobster benedict (!!) with the best roasted potatoes I've had in a long time. The bloody mary was so-so. I mean, it WAS a bloody mary. But with all the fancy ones on the scene these days, a "regular" bloody just seems so.... boring?
The other folks eating with me seemed to enjoy their food as well. The owner even came over to check on us and see how everything was. I'd definitely go back, and suggest you get your butts over there!
Went here for dinner with some gilfriends the other night. Everything was great -- great service, great atmosphere, and great food! I had the sauteed whitefish with fried apples and brown rice and all were wonderful! I will definitely be back.
Came here on a Saturday evening, and surprisingly the place was near empty. We sat out on the back patio, a really nice space that was quiet and intimate. Anyone else notice that it looks like there are apartments right above the restaurant? I digress...
The wait staff was friendly and the food was good. I sampled both the salmon and whitefish. I realize it's a little risky to order fish, because there is a fine line between cooking it 'just right' and overcooking it. The fish here, however, was cooked to perfection. The salmon came in a pear sauce which wasn't too sweet, in fact, it was definitely a savory sauce. I also stole a few bites of macaroni and cheese, it was very tasty.
Props to the fact that when you are seated, they bring a basket of homemade potato chips to the table. As the night went on, the restaurant became busier. I'd definitely go back, and hope to try the brunch soon.
Went here for brunch a few weeks ago...two...three...? I don't know. Summer days, they blend.
Orange juice for both of us. I had chilaquiles, he had an egg-something sandwich without any of the vegetables or interesting things that make it a real meal. Side of sausage.
I LOVED the chilaquiles, truly. Now, I have to say, I've never had a real authentic plate of them, so I cannot and will not speak to whether or not they are "true" chilaquiles. All I know is that they tasted GOOOOOOD.
The breakfast potatoes that came with his sandwich were good and crispy and seasoned well. I liked the ambiance, it was quiet on a Sunday morning (I can't handle loud brunch places anymore...especially after a loud Saturday night) with a cute patio.
The Tribune ran a few coupons (BOGO brunch entree, 20% off your dinner check, etc) in this weeks paper so keep your eyes open for deals.
This is my new favorite brunch spot. A $15 bottomless mimosa? Yes please! It was the best mimosa that I've ever had. The perfect combination of champers and o.j. The juice wasn't very acidic so I could drink them for hours without getting that sour feeling in my belly. (And I did drink them for hours!)
The food was really good. My friend had the BLT and I had the fritatta of the day with serrano ham, spinach, and smoked mozzarella. Delicious. The roasted potatoes on the side were out of this world.
I'm going back next weekend. I have my eye on the pear and ginger french toast or the breakfast mac and cheese.
Two words: Bottomless Mimosas
*The Approach*
After checking myself into the Saturday Night Staying In Club, I was in excellent condition on Friday afternoon and found myself wanting to make up for the lost Saturday night. I called Deleece to try to RSVP a spot on the patio but was told there was a fifteen minute wait for the patio, but no wait to eat inside and also reservations are not taken for parties under six.
*The Arrival*
I grabbed a friend and rolled over to Deleece to find a completely empty interior! My friend wanted to leave, but I convinced her to roll through to the patio where there were white tables and seats in the sun. After about a minute in the sun, I had to retreat the shade lest I be blinded by the sunlight. Menus came as did water and our server was very polite and eager to help answer questions if we had any.
*The Ordering*
We ordered one order of beignets with chocolate sauce and two breakfast sandwiches stacked with two orders of bottomless mimosas. That's where I had a question, "How long do bottomless mimosas go on til?" The server shrugged with a grin and said,"Whenever, there really is no limit." Perfect!
*The Food*
Out came beignets fresh out the fryer and hot to the touch. Beignets were the size of a Canon battery pack topped off with loads of powdered sugar and plenty of chocolate sauce to dip in. I popped my beignet cherry and am a better man for it!
Next came our breakfast sandwiches with seasoned red potatoes. The first thing that caught my eye was the size of the sandwich, while I have seen sourdough bread before, this sourdough made my day and made the sandwich enormous and was about ten inches wide. Bacon, cheese, spinach and eggs that are over easy load up this delicious treat but watch out: the egg will drip when you take a bite! The potatoes had great texture with some parts crisp, others mushier and good seasoning.
*The Final Take*
In the final summation, I enjoyed a fine afternoon out on the patio, popping down mimosas and treating myself to some delectable dishes. A fine time and a Chicago must on a Sunday afternoon.
I went here last night with 3 friends. We got seated right away. It wasnt busy since we got there around 9pm. We started off with the gouda stuffed mushrooms which were great. I had the salmon which comes with two sides. I ordered the gryuere mac and cheese and a side of spinach. It was awesome! Some of the best seafood I've had in awhile. The decor was nice and we got a nice seat by the window.
I would give it 5 stars but the service left something to be desired. When we first got there and got seated we had to wait 15 minutes before the waitress even came by to take our drink orders. We kept looking around for her and couldn't find her. And like I said we got there around 9 so the place was starting to empty out so it wasn't like they were busy at all. When we finally got a chance to order the food runner brought our food out and got all of our orders wrong and put the wrong dish in front of the wrong person.
In summary, go for the food as long as service is not that important to you.
After hearing people rave about Deleece's brunch for so long, I decided it was time to check it out. Although instead of brunch I went for dinner. Then, I found out instead of Deleece, I was at Deleece Grill Pub - which, duh, are two different places!
The scene: Thursday night in Wrigleyville after an afternoon Cubs game against the Sox. Obviously I was concerned with the possibility of the drunk douche factor. Fortunately, Deleece Grill Pub delivered nothing but a classy, afforadable, and very comfortable dinner environment!
They have a GREAT outdoor patio hiding in the back - so adorable and spacious was it that I immediately wished I had brought ten of my friends along with me. Little did we know before we arrived that they were serving a three course prix fix - sweet! Bruschetta, grilled sirloin, and a cheese and fruit plate desert for me; asparagus soup, grilled chicken with mac and cheese, and a brownie sundae for my dinner date. Everything was perfectly portioned and quite good. Slightly on the salty side for some of the dishes, but overall a great deal and for only $20!!
After enjoying this delicious food, drinking some great vino, and experiencing the relaxing zen nature of the back patio (hey, they had a fountain), I was very happy that I did not bring ten close friends. It was a night of romance and great dining!
Attention brunch lovers!
Tired of braving long waits at your favorite brunch spot on a Sunday morning, when all you want is a drink, perhaps a coffee, and some amazing food?
Then follow me - I'm headed to Deleece Grill Pub.
Why? Let me run it down for you.
$15 bottomless mimosas.
No wait.
$15 bottomless mimosas.
Inexpensive food that is both delicious and generously portioned.
$15 bottomless mimosas.
Outdoor seating! (the patio got full when we were there, yet the inside had a total of 3 tables seated, so again - no wait to be seated if you're not picky.)
$15 bottomless mimosas.
Excellent service.
Did I mention $15 bottomless mimosas?
This is also a nice spot for a group - you can make reservations for parties of 6 or more, and I noticed a bridal brunch at the table next to us.
Be prepared for some small children - who I think generally would have been well behaved had someone not brought their dog on the patio, then they all had to go pet it. (Frankly, Sarah B and I wanted to pet its owner - oops, did I say that out loud?) But if you don't love your brunch with a side of screaming child, just keep drinking those bottomless mimosas. I mean, I did and I turned out okay. *twitch*
The server reminded me of a Chippendale wannabe working his way through life at something he's not very good at, so he can do something else - for which he might be better suited.
This box of rocks made me resent paying a dime. The place was dead and we waited for everything, including for him to take a cocktail order when we arrived.
I asked him why the martinis were so expensive, and remarked that prices had gone up; they were not always this expensive.
His response put a rocket scientist to shame: "it depends on the combination of rocks or if you have blue cheese olives."
I reminded him that our martinis were served UP, as martinis are served.
Hmmm, well, he said he didn't charge us for the olives. Do bars really charge for garnish these days?
The asparagus soup was served in a big bowl to create the appearance of a generous portion. It did taste good, though.
The calamari was excellent; full of flavor, and barely breaded and done just right.
My dining partner's salad had unfresh lettuce in it.
Bottom line: for almost $60 we could have gone next door to Francesca's, had two martinis, split an entree, and a calamari appetizer (always good at Francesca's) and been happy.
Lame mediocrity.
Erm. Went here for a casual, nibbly dinner tonight. While brunch here was a gorgeous experience, dinner left something to be desired. Not the company, like the Burj Al Arab Jumeirah in Dubai, that holds steady at seven stars.
We sit down promptly. Menus are flopped down. The waiter walks away to . . . where. Time passes, a few more gray hairs pop out (elegantly) on my head. Someone comes by to give us a basket of crispy potato chips - which, good. Um, a drink?
Finally, FINALLY, drink orders are taken. We order then, 'cos who knows when this waiter is coming back. In his slight defense, he was friendly and adorable . . . when he was actually there taking our order, or whatnot.
We get a couple appetizers. The aspargus soup is good. The calamari is exceptional, really tasty and not greasy.
The DEEP FRIED CHEESE CURDS, people. I didn't know you could get these in Chicago!! I could happily rocket up to 400 pounds noshing on these bad boys, but I won't. I WON'T! But yummmm, they are little pockets of cheesy deep fried goodness, completely decadent. My dining companion was utterly horrified at these things and refused to touch them. This is because they are like crack, and you instantly become addicted to the curd! More for me!
The Cobb Salad. I have a few improvements. I fancy myself sort of a Salad Specialist. 'Cos if it's healthy, I want it to be decadent and delicious too, hence the Cobb - with BACON! The "baby Cobb" was a very, VERY good sized salad. I can't imagine the size of the "monster Cobb". A salad big as all outdoors, maybe? Anyway. I know Cobbs are usually arranged with ingredients separated on the top. However, I think they are more delicious with everything chopped up and mixed up and dressing evenly mixed over the whole delicious hot mess. I probably should have asked for this, and will, if I go back. The dressing was good, red wine vinegar, which YUM.
Back to the drinks. After an indecipherable logarithmic explanation as to why they were so expensive, I still didn't know why they were so expensive. Rocks, no rocks. Garnish, no garnish. Martini, no martini - huh?! Something about a 'change' - restaurants do not go thru menopause, what?! I didn't follow it all that well.
So. To sum up. Go there for brunch. Have dinner there at your own risk. THOUGH I'd still go back to try the $20 prix fixe which has now inexplicably been switched to Thursday, instead of Wednesday. Which is why we went there in the first place. Hii-yo!

Great atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff. Food is delish! Mac and Cheese is to die for!!
If you go on a week night at around 9:30 on a day that the cubs played during the day, don't walk away because its empty because the food is still going to be good. I was about to leave before even going in, but C's said no, let's see what's up and I'm glad she said that because the food was really good.
It's not your usual bar food, they have all the type of things you would expect but with a good twist. C got the tomato soup and some bruschetta which were both good. I got the chicken sandwich and a side of the asaigo mac and cheese which was awesome. The sandwich had a roasted tomato and some pesto with the right blend of both.
Their beer menu was also very interesting with beers grouped by the states from which they came. All and all a great option when you're in wrigleyville. I will be going back again for sure. And plus they serve food late night too and it wasn't expensive at all.
Dropped in here before a Cubs weeknight game. Deleece is a quick walk from Wrigley but a bit south of the drunken zoo. Intimate, fenced-in back patio - wasn't too busy and service had the right amount of attentiveness. Bonus points to our waitress that brought us a pitcher of 312 only 3/4 full, apologized before even she sat it down, promised to bring another one, then didn't charge for the extra pitcher. The asiago cheese burger is super yummy, as are the free homemade potato chips. My friend loved her chicken sandwich, too. Will come back to this cozy spot next time the other Clark St haunts are too crowded and/or obnoxious.
Mac 'n Cheese is one of those things that I am a complete sucker for. Something that makes this idiot even more idiotic. Basically to the point where if it is on the menu- I will almost definitely order it.
Due to this moronic, reactionary, almost Pavlovian dive towards this vice of mine (mac 'n cheese that is), I have come across good (Kuma's for example), and bad but almost without warning- I will order it.
To me, the best part of Deleece is the fact that they embrace my vice, and easily offer it to me in a great number of forms.
You want mac 'n cheese as your main plate? They have you covered. Side dish? No problem- you can add it to go with your main. Breakfast? Yep- that too!
On my most recent trip to DGP, I perused the menu for all of about 11 seconds before I came across the words "Breakfast Mac 'N Cheese" and was done. Immediate surrender. All reasoning thrown aside- after all, mac n' cheese for breakfast? Who'd have thunk it?
Well, I should have known, especially since I have tasted DGP's older sister spot Deleece on Southport's breakfast pasta before (conveniently offered here too) and it was good.
Bottom line- VERY good consistency, flavoring, and texture. Portion size was quite large, and the sunny side up eggs served on top of it were a great touch. Bacon was tasty (as it usually is), and the tomato gave it just enough freshness and acidity to cut through the thick and heavy cheesiness. Was it breakfast? Even with the eggs and tomato- no, I wouldn't consider that something that would work ideally for a normal breakfast. But- for brunch, it was spot-on.
Bottomless mimosas............ No need to explain that, other than the very nice server was quick to refill that along with my coffee. I left with a full stomach, a full bladder, and a nice little buzz to get my Sunday afternoon off and running.
