Now I've walked by Delaurenti a million times. Sometimes when I see stores in/near the market I avoid them because I imagine they are charging something like 10% more for what they sell because they're in the epicenter of the touristy areas.

I'll knock a star for that. I hate to spend more or feel like things are pricier than they should be, but the selection of goods and the service here is outstanding.

I walked in because I saw dozens of beautifully wrapped Pannetonne boxes/packages in the windows. My parents are HUGE fans of this roided out holiday muffin. I asked a woman behind the register about which one to buy. Typically I'll go to Safeway or Cost Plus and buy one for about $15. This year my parents are making the trek to Seattle so I can save on shipping and therefore can spend more! She points to this gorgeously wrapped package and tells me it's her favorite. I trust her instincts as she goes into detail about why this is THE BEST pannetonne they have in the store. Sold!

After buying it (for twice the cost of the other ones) I troll around the store and tease myself with their aisles displaying more yummy goodness. I'll have to try a deli sandwich next time!

Cool place.  I came here to look for a good Oregon Pinot Noir for Thanksgiving after my hopes of getting a sweet potatoe pie were dashed (at another place).  This place has a nice selection of mid-range local wines and Pinots.  I was looking for Rex Hill, and I ended up getting another wine owned by them called A to Z.  Very cool.  They sell on value without trying to upsell you, and that really works.  I can't wait to try it tomorrow night.  I'll definitely be back to this place.

This place also has a lot of pasta needs in the food area with some nice brands like Barilla and some high quality cheeses and specialty items.  It's the perfect stop for a wine and pasta night.

Stopped by Delaurenti before Bumbershoot to get a quick bite. Located right in front of the entrance point at Pike Place Market, Delaurenti is a market with imported specialty foods, primarily Italian with a good selection of cheese and deli items. They also have a cafe area right in front in which they sell soups, salads, sandwiches, pizzas, baked goods and coffee drinks.

Upon looking at the selections, I decided I wanted a sandwich. Specifically, the grinder ($5.99) which is a mix of Italian cold cuts and provolone cheese on a baguette as well as four olives. Upon making my choice and paying, I waited until my order was ready.

While at first I was a bit disappointed that they did not ask me if I wanted my sandwich grilled, I discovered that eating it cold worked just as well. Though I was a bit concerned that I would pull a tooth as the baguette was a little tougher than I would like. Overall, I would say Delaurenti is a nice place to get a quick cheap bite to eat while at the Market to escape for a little from hustle and bustle outside.

For some reasons, I really like this place. It's the ambiance. I went here to buy olive oil and wine. They have good selections. But why 4 stars? Well... I think pretty much everything is overpriced. I'm pretty sure it's because of the location. I always wonder how their Panettone tastes like. The last time I checked is 30+ dollars. I know, I know...

Where else can you get white truffle oil on a sandwich?
Delaurenti is a clean, well-stocked Italian grocery and deli with every imaginable imported Italian treat to tempt you.  The lunch counter part has awesome sandwiches - simple but made with the highest quality of ingredients (such as the aforementioned truffle oil).  I think the pizza is just OK - a little lacking in flavor.  I've also had a delightful butternut squash soup.  Haven't tried their desserts but they look great. Seating is limited, especially at the lunch rush.

This review is for the Cafe - not the store portion.  While the store is pretty pricey, the cafe is pretty reasonably priced.

We stopped in for a going-away late lunch with a friend and were pleased to find enough seating for four (even with it decently busy) and fresh food available.   The order counter can be kind of cramped, but that's anything in the Market.   The coffee my husband ordered wasn't the best ever, but it was certainly better than Starbucks.

Lunch for two (two sodas, a coffee, two cookies, two very large slices of pizza) was about $16 or so.  My friend had a salad, as she is gluten-intolerant and said it was pretty alright.  Gripe for her: the salad comes with bread taking up a quarter of the plate.

This is probably a great location for a mid-week lunch, if you don't mind elbowing aside a few tourists and smelling the donut place while you eat.

So, I have to start by saying I looooove the food offerings at De Laurenti.  The sausage is great.  The prosciutto di parma...fabulous.  I even really like their homemade fresh mozzarella.  I would shop there so much more if the people working there would lay off the attitude.  I have seriously been waited on ONCE in my many visits by someone who did not seem to be doing me a favor by getting my order together.  Honestly, if they didn't have the best selection in Seattle I would never shop there just for that reason.

This place is a life saver. I have not found canned Italian cherry tomatoes anywhere else that are as good as the Sclafani brand they carry. They carry Bueno bars and Amaretti di Saronno cookies. Their frozen pesto, cipollini with balsamic, prosciutto selections are excellent. They have other items that I would otherwise probably have to buy online. There is definitely a markup. They have the best selection of Italian food in Seattle.

I do like this place when you need a little taste of Italy in Seattle.   The panini and coffee/pizza are great for a quick snack, although the salads are probably better midday when the are freshly made versus later in the day when they've wilted a bit.  Still highly recommended.  It's a bit spendy - but with so many imported goodies hard not to cost a little more....  They sell groceries as well with many things I remember from being in Italy.

Delaurenti's is another place in the market where I can easily walk from my office to get lunch on nice days.

While the majority of the space in the store is devoted to its Italian specialty grocery business , the front, 1st Ave facing, part of the store is for getting espresso and a quick lunch. Their flat bread style pizza combinations are usually delicious. Like in Italy, they also have premade sub style sandwiches they can heat up on the panini grill. They also have very good cookies, my favorite being the oatmeal raisin because they put some molasses in them which makes them a step above all other cookies.

Their grocery section is pretty cool too. I stop by when I am grabbing stuff from the market for dinner. I usually end of buying a couple of their cheeses and some salamis + crackers.

The only thing against Delaurenti's is the price of their groceries, not their lunches, but I'll still happily shop there.

I love this place so much. I am filled with nothing but warm feelings for Delaurenti, and kind of wish I lived right next door so I could pop in for some cheese or a panini anytime, but alas.
They have an awesome selection of cheeses (try the incredibly creamy d'affinois brie at $18.99/Lb, it's sooooo good) and the folks who work at the cheese counter are knowledgable and friendly. Delaurenti also has a cafe, serving pizza, panini, salads, coffee, and some pastries, which is a delicious place to have a small lunch downtown in the midst of the downtown bustle.

Awesome pizza yums!  I was looking for pizza for a quick lunch.  First visited Post Alley pizza as it was very close to work.  The pizzas look a bit cold and dead.  Took a detour to Delaurenti to check them out.  The pizzas are square, hot and fresh.  I got a slice of peperoni and a slice of their 'special'.  Both yummy and filling (1 slice got me full).  Will certainly return for the next pizza craving.

Hang a quick left as you enter the Pike Place newsstand area and you will enter De Laurenti Specialty Food & Wine. Yes, you will have to fight the magically beckoning cinnamon donut scent calling to you from the hallway, but this is a worthy detour, because holy canoli - that's a good canoli! Canolis are made to order, so you will have to wait a few minutes while it's being prepared. Meanwhile, you can peruse the shelves of fancy olive oil and other gourmet treats.

Once you have a canoli in hand, it's hard not to want to down the thing in one bite. Try to tone down your ravenous sweet tooth enough that you actually give yourself a chance to savor the firm yet flaky crust and the cool, smooth, thick, slightly lemony cream filling. Otherwise you'll just have to order a second one right away to keep the flavor sensation going!

If you're picking up lunch or picnic supplies, you can find plenty of tasty imported foods here, plus a selection of freshly made salads, pizza slices, and tasty deli sandwiches on rustic breads. You can take your treats with you to wherever you are wandering, or head up the stairs and pull up a seat in the wine loft. De Laurenti's also sells their pizza dough, so if you're impressed with the slices, you can grab a hunk of dough and try to recreate the experience at home.

Whenever I am at the Pike Place Market I always make it a point to stop into this fine establishment and peruse the assortment of Italian and Mediterranean goods for sale.

If you have read any of my other reviews of grocery stores you would know that walking through them is one of my favorite pass times.  When I first came here I think I spent a good 20 minutes just looking through their assortment of Olive Oils.  Row after row of golden deliciousness! Their meat and cheese section is also impressive.  Ranging from mild Bries to pungent Blues...spicy Sopressata to cool Prosciutto...they have it all.

The one downside is the cost.  Due to the location the cost seems to be inflated.  While I do not mind paying for top quality food I do have a problem with paying extra when it is attributed to the location of the store.

DeLaurenti...you are one of my favorites but my wallet prevents me from visiting your establishment as often as I would like to.

They have a lot of variety, but I still didnt find anything that was screaming for me to buy it. I honestly tried to find something to buy... even the chocolates werent appealing! I think prices are higher here due to the fact that it is in Pike Place Market/tourist-central. The people behind the meat & cheese counters werent too helpful either.

I like AG Ferrari better, not sure if they have it in Seattle.

Hmm.. They've got quite a selection of, you guessed it, Specialty Food & Wine here.. but you know what..

So does PFI!

For overall selection and quality, I'm not sure that Delaurenti cannot be beat.. HOWEVER, it IS in the middle of Pike Place Market, which immediately means the following:

Upcharge!

I suppose if I was looking for pickled livers and foie gras, this would be my go to. I've wandered the aisles here (drooling and oggling)- their selection of cheeses and pastas are quite breathtaking. As far as cans and jars go, I've seen a lot of the same stuff at Central Market and Big John's PFI.

Their wine selection is quite good, albeit pricey and their tasting was informative. While the store is a bit cramped, I will not complain- it's chock full of foodie goodies galore..

And for that, Delaurenti, I salute you.

I love this place. If you follow my reviews at all I'm a stickler for anything authentically Italian. Everything's imported, I think that equates to authenticity ;) The have a great deli and make sandwiches/pizza, the sandwiches are great and also pretty darn authentic. Reminds me a lot of the little markets in Italy where you could get all sorts of random meats and cheese and whatever else you wanted, I ate at least one a day while there.

A sandwich is always a must for me when I'm in Market territory. I only wish there was more aisle space, and room for when you're waiting for your food, it's SO cramped!

I don't know what I can say about Delaurenti that hasn't already been said by my fellow Yelpers. This place is great. So I will say this: Pâté de Campagne. Yummer in my tummers!

Ok, I can say a bit more. I love their diverse selection of European goods, cheese and meats. There's such a variety to choose from. Half a dozen types of pates or mouses.

My green Delaurenti wine opener is probably one of my most prized possessions. I'm thinking about making it a family heirloom that will be passed onto subsequent generations.

Another quick stop  on a market tour. This wonderful store has been another cornerstoen of the market. It has expoanded its premium wine section and the aisles seem larger.

I recall many Christmas baskets of goody presents I  bought here when first a resident of Seattle. Some of the quick grab moderate prices presents are  gone. Still remain many difficult to  find imported items and a very tasty-looking deli.

There are a lot of great Italian goods that you can get from this shop--from cheeses and olives, to olive oil galore.  Add to that some mascarpone cheese and bueno chocolate bars.  But the best thing?  Stuffed to order cannoli.  If there is a place that makes better cannoli in Seattle, I have yet to be introduced.  They make them upon order, so that the shell doesn't get mushy.  And you can taste the authentic cheesy flavor, not confusing it with whipped cream or cheap filler.  Yum yum yum.

If you're planning a very nice Italian dinner. I would heavily suggest a one-stop shop of DeLaurenti. The pricing is a bit high compared to your regular grocery store. However, again this is the perfect place for special dinner parties and what not. It was kind of sad to see that their Pancetta from Salumi is an extra $3/lb pound than it is costs at Salumi..but I guess it's convenience compared to waiting in line 20-30 minutes at Salumi (that might not even have it).

I love DeLaurenti's 'cos they remind me of this little Italian deli my Italian immigrant Gramma would take me to back home when I was smaller ... only a little cleaner and without the pig intestines hanging in the window.

If I had to choose one grocery store in all of Seattle to survive the apocalypse, it would be this one.  They have authentic Italian foods that I have a hard time finding anywhere else in town, including THE BEST SALAMI IN THE UNIVERSE.  In the middle of the night it calls to me in Italian from the icebox ...

Although that salami is definitely the high point for me, the beer/beverage selection upstairs is pretty awesome, the hot food section has delicious pizza by the slice, and they have other cool things like imported chocolates and 352987435 kinds of olive oil.

mmmm, salami ....

I hate to say it but I liked Delaurenti before their remodel.  I loved going to the walk up window outside and picking up a freshly made sandwich on some hard crusty bread for a little more than $3.00.  Now they only have Panini's which are good but not the same and now $5.50 instead of $3.00.  However their fresh chocolate chip cookies are delicious and good for two sometimes three servings if you have will power.

Besides the sandwiches they also have a wonderful selection of specialty food.  Everything from olive oil to chocolate to bread to cheese to capers to pasta to wine to everything you would need to make a gourmet Italian meal.  They even have my brother's beloved stuffed cherry peppers in their deli and every time I'd go home it was requested I bring a dozen of those babies with me.  This wasn't too hard before last September now with all the limitations you can take on the plane in your carry on it's impossible so I found them an Italian deli in San Diego to get their stuffed cherry peppers.

If you go during the day when it's busy be on the look out for shop lifters it's crazy what people will try to steal and get away with from this place.  I've see a cashier chase someone through the market to get back their goods it was amazing how quick they both were.

Also if you like wine like I like wine they have free tasting on Saturdays from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, hmm maybe a yelp wine tasting event is in order for one Saturday...

You'll see that a lot of people will deduct a star from DeLaurenti's for being expensive, but it's to offset the fact that they have EVERYTHING you need to make specialty foods! Markedly, Italian, German, Spanish, and Scandinavian cuisine! If you can't find it... they have it!

It's quite simply IMPOSSIBLE to make authentic tapas, without stopping here, and for that one simple fact they deserve a medal!

Mmm! Mmm! Mmm!

Delaurentis is a wonderland. In every aisle, in every fully stocked freezer you will find a variety of delights. Considering that many items are imported from Italy, the prices are reasonable. (Got $1000 to drop on a pound of fresh truffles? This is your stop.)

I buy sauces, raviolis, dilled green beans, morbier cheese, and wines here. And when I buy anything, I take the advice of every staffer.  These people know what they're talking about -- especially the lords and ladies of the cheese section. They are so friendly, you'll think that they are hitting on you. Cheese is a seductive food after all. Especially when they sell it to you with such eloquence.

In addition to fabulous wine tastings, they host special tastings for balsamic vinegars and cheeses. In July they debuted a special Salumi created salami. Who wouldn't love a salami tasting party?

The Delaurenti family were Pike Place Market pioneers and their legacy lives on with excellent service and high-quality products. And if you can't afford the products, at least sample their pizza.

I only stopped in for a quick bite to eat-- my last in Seattle-- but the combination of ricotta and salami on my pizza had me seeing stars. Never mind that the crust was a bit tough and too dense to be a good Sicilian pizza, or that the slice was a bit lukewarm (they would have warmed it up for me, but I declined). The sweet ricotta against that fragrant, rich salami was to die for.

I now definitely have something to do with all of the salami I purchased from Salumi.

I have never seen an Italian place like this one. Not even in the "Little Italys" so I was pleasantly surprised to find this in Seattle. Amazing selection of hard to find Italian products. Excellent selection of wines and proseccos too. I think the prices are not all that bad on most items. I've been to other Italian stores in other areas of the country and they can be very, very pricey.

Those sandwiches are called Pannini, and they aren't grilled. They're flattened in a sandwich press. (Again, some jack-ass at the Seattle Times has no business writing a food column.) But they are yummy. Ask for extra cornichons and olives.

It would be better for my bank account if Delaurenti didn't exist, but I just do not want to live without access to vin santo, cantucci, olive oil good enough to sip plain, prosecco, people who KNOW cheese and wine, and Kinder Suprise eggs.  They have the best of the best at Delaurenti, and even if you buy the least expensive option of a certain item, you're still getting something authentic (or reeeal close) and of very high quality. There's nothing I love more than cruising through, picking out wine, cheese, olives, and items for dinner or a picnic lunch on Saturday... then heading out to the produce stalls to get fresh veggies and fruits to complement it.

I love all things that are miniature, and I love most things Italian, so I delight in the minis Delaurenti provides.  Upstairs are many different splits of prosecco and single serving Bellinis, downstairs are tiny jars of sunny pesto and capers.  They also have fresh, artisan demi-baguettes, which are perfect to go with a dinner for two, or for slicing open and filling with anything that looks good to you from the long, sparkling clean deli case and taking on a picnic.

Delaurenti's house brand of frozen pizza dough is wonderful and very versatile, as is their pesto sauce.  Try combining them with some fresh pecorino romano and a bottle of Brunello for the simplest, most wonderful dinner ever.

I have a newfound love, and it is The Grinder sandwich at Delaurenti: the scrumptious bread, mellow aioli, quality meats and cheeses, and more!  The only problem is that they ALWAYS run out!!!  The past 4 times I've tried to get one, I've had to settle for an inferior sandwich or a piece of pizza...which isn't really that bad of an item to settle for.  It's just that The Grinder is SO DAMN GOOD.  I don't understand why they don't just make a FEW more so those of us who lunch a little bit later in the afternoon can experience the love that is The Grinder.  The other sandwiches are simple but good, the pizza is square and overly-cheesy (which is a good thing) and the pastries are a nice assortment from local bakeries.

The actual grocery section is great and they have a lot of interesting things in their deli case, although I mostly go here to get my lunch from the cafe section.  They have ample seating for being located in the market so that's a plus.  And the staff is always SUPER friendly and efficient.

If you're in the market and need a place to sit and eat something yummy and not too expensive, I would definitely recommend Delaurenti.  Hell, I go there at least twice a week just to see if they've got any Grinders left for me!

This is the closest I've come since living in Italy to finding a HUGE selection of Italian food products. This is a fabulous place and I'm so disappointed I don't have one like it in San Diego. But every time I visit in Seattle, I go here. DeLaurenti has a really good hot food section up front: soups, fresh pizza, salads...perfect stop for a fast good quality cheap eats meal. There are stools up front to chow on.

The selection of pasta, olive oils, cheese - the cheese! What a selection. My sister, a recent culinary school graduate, buys her cheese here when entertaining. And the people working the cheese counter know their stuff.

They even have Kinder eggs - I was brought back to my memories of Easter in Tuscany. :( I miss it! The wine selection is substantial and they have wine experts who do tastings. Each person is incredibly knowledgeable in this section too.

Love this place - wish it were closer. I wouldn't go there all the time, but I'd make it there maybe once every couple months to spice up my kitchen!

delaurenti is the bombdiggity!

this was my one stop shop for fromage and charcuterie when i was in seattle. i think i came here two days in a row to stock up on:

1. fra'mani soppressata
2. fra'mani nostrano
3. duck pate
4. duck mousse
5. truffle mousse
6. prosciutto (low sodium)

i believe my cholesterol went up 50pts that weekend. but man, it was well worth it!!

service at delaurenti was superb. questions were answered quickly and workers would take the time to lead you to items vs just pointing and saying "it's over there".

the charcuterie counter was awesome...then again, i loves me fra'mani salume! if you are unsure what to order, they will provide you with a taste of the meat.

the fromage counter was also kicking as well. good selection of cheese and pates and mousse. the guys behind the counter were very friendly as well and made some good recommendations. can you say heaven in a store?

i did not have the chance to check out the wine section, however, if it is anything like the first floor, i am sure the wine area rocks as well.

delaurenti's will always be my go to place for fromage and charcuterie when i am in seattle.....that is unless i find some place better.....which i do not believe will happen!

When I feel like channeling the Italian mam I never had...I go straight here to make all my brilliant Italian dinners. It feels good to know that while I don't have a brain when it comes to cheeses and cured meats, the peeps behind the counter will hold my hand all the way to oz. Today I chose soprasatta and fromage d'affinois.

When I'm only in the mood to stuff my face, I head to the cafe for a slice of cheese pizza or my favorite- the Parma sandwich. How can something so simple be so delicious??

fyi- if the line at the downstair register is long...try the one in the wine section...hmmm. maybe i shouldn't mention that.

It's criminal what De Laurentis has done.

They have the most extensive selection of italian cookies, treats, desserts, cheeses, olive oils, and WORST OF ALL, they have tastings on Saturday (both wine and cheese).

Why is this criminal?

Because I didn't carry my wallet (perils of going downtown with your husband, who will inevitably pay for everything) and I needed ID to do the wine tastings... And THAT was THE MEANEST THING that has happened as an adult.

I'm told the Moreno Chianti was good.  SUCKS to be me today!!!

I'm definitely going next Saturday.. WITH proof that I'm 29 years old... (Which sucks even more, I mean, after the whole I'm almost 30 meltdown I had this month when I turned 29, and wearing NO make up, there's NO WAY IN HELL that I don't look ANYTHING but over 21..

But yes.. They have a ton of goodies and treats that must NOT be missed!

(Note: I am reviewing their lunch counter, not the grocery part of the establishment)

I think I'm going to have to enlist a friend or family member to continually remind me to eat DeLaurenti's pizza, as my visits there over the years have been all too few and far between. After eating pizza for lunch there today, I was instantly reminded that I need to eat it regularly. Their pizza has that unique but delicious pizza taste that I remember from elementary school lunches. It's a lovely combination of sauce and crust that is rarely matched at other establishments.

For a quick slice of pizza in downtown Seattle, DeLaurenti's can't be beat!
