I've been here for drinks a couple times & LOVE the pool. It's super nice to chill there and there are always beautiful people around. The drinks are a little pricey & some people engage in some lewd behavior....but the bouncers usually clear things up & the night goes on. Had a great time here on New Years & left before it got too insanely crowded.
I'm sure I'll be back again, this place is SoBe to a T...so if your coming for a visit check it out!
Right on the beach. Really nice looking pool.
Lots of space.
If I had my choice of where to stay in Miami Beach--this is it.
Sometimes I wonder if Phillipe Starck was reading, "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland," and spent a lot of time lounging with the White Queen (both a metaphor and a euphemism) during his inspiration for the Delano.
Never disappoints.
I absolutely love this place. You would think this would be an exclusive hard to get into type place, but it's not. No problem at the door whatsover. The drinks aren't too expensive (probably $10 for a vodka cran, $7 for a corona) The atmosphere is awesome. Nothing like sitting on the beds alongside the beautiful pool and having a drink (or 4) with friends. Everytime I come to Miami, I have to hit up this place. Also, they have a dj inside the lobby which can be fun. This isn't a place to stay the entire night. Perfect to go to after dinner but before the club. I can't wait to go again.
Great food, great time, this is a landmark to South Beach!
COOL place. Love the pool bar in the back-so relaxing. The sushi restaurant inside is good as well but a little pricey.
You might find a few douche bags there but not as much as other places. Its a classy place so party with confidence!! lol
I loved this place. I was visiting from Los Angeles and I was taken here for a drink. I really liked the randomly placed furniture and interesting decor. I will be back again next time I visit.
This is a great place to hangout with great music! Girlfriend and I went with another couple and had drinks by the poolbar the night before new year's eve. We ended up getting a table by the bar inside and closed the bar down. Only problem was the bar closed at 2:30am? We moved our party down to Fountain Bleu (which is awesome).
It is definitely classy and pricey, but it is worth it. The scenery is fantastic and fun.
Now if I can only get to that Florida Room...
Tip: Turn the sinks on by stepping on the button on the floor.
I've been here several times for some drinks and to lounge around the pool. The drinks are pricey but they view and the vibe is worth it. At the night you can lounge around the sparkling pool and enjoy the wonderful Miami weather. I've been there during the week when there aren't that many people or during the weekends when it gets pretty lively and it's a great time either way. You can be trendy or, like me, just lay out in the bed-sized lounge areas around the pool. You can also hang out inside which is just as fun as the outside...or go to the Florida Room which is located in the outside lower lever... ooor if you got it like that, you can stay in the hotel. A fun time either way!

And you too can cool out poolside at The Delano..." Jay-Z
My favorite hotel in the entire world!
Ideal place to vacation with your soul mate.
This place will elevate you to ecstasy.
Is just nice, simple and pleasant.
Its not the most expensive hotel in south beach, but definitely the best.
Rooms: all white
Pool: heated
Food: very tasty and affordable
Night life: at night the pool side bar remains open and you can mingle with just about anyone.
Staff: very courteous and professional. Plenty of Cuban playboy bunnies.
Its just awesome!
I love, love, LOVE The Delano!
It is beautiful, clean, trendy and expensive!
My boyfriend and I stayed here over Labor Day weekend- Friday thru Monday. I have stayed here one time before but didnt really get to see much of the hotel and spend time by the pool.
Well, this time, we made up for it.
We checked in around noon on Friday and our room happened to already be ready so we got taken straight up. The room is ALL white...literally, ALL WHITE. Very South Beach :)
We changed and headed down to the pool. It was really overcast but we still layed out for a few hours and racked up an expensive tab. The pool is beautiful though. Long, clean, tons of comfortable chairs all around, private cabannas, a bar and pool side restaurant close by. You are only steps away from the sand so you have easy access to the pool and beach. The servers by the pool are all great...very sweet, kind and helpful.
The Rose Bar is beautiful. We had a drink her before heading out for the night. Its expensive...but so is everything else here and for the most part...all of south beach.
There is a DJ in the lobby on the weekend nights and he played great music. The lobby area which is huge with high ceilings transforms into a lounge/club/hangout at night and you could honestly stay there all night and not even have to worry about getting in to some of the clubs. There are sections of couches and chairs and lounges for you to reserve or just walking around was good enough for us.
We at breakfast outside on Monday @ Blue Door and it was delicious. $50 for a basic breakfast for 2 people but it was worth it.
Tons of celebs stay here and I read about it in a ton of magazines so this really is the place to be in Miami. Whether you are staying for a few nights or coming to hang out and have some drinks.
Come here prepared to spend some money but expect to have a blast and fall in love with this place :)
Who cares about the price of the drinks? This place is a lot of fun and the atmosphere is great. Go to the pool bar and get a drink and then hang out around the pool. If you dont like what you see there, then go inside and get another drink. Play some pool and hang out. The music is great and you'll meet people.
I think people take for granted that most of the time you can just walk into the lobby and take a look around. When youre friends are in town, this is a great place to take them.
I have never written a review on Yelp and probably won't again, but the Delano compelled me to write. We stayed in December 2009, so things have obviously changed since the earlier good reviews. Most of those reviews were from people drinking at the bar and not staying at the hotel. I gave it one star because I couldn't give it zero. Visit the pool, bar and restaurant, but do not stay there. My experience was AWFUL. We had a dirty room, barely a view of the beach in a "dlx ocean view" room, a hot mini bar fridge, terrible housekeepers, and managers who do not care. A Holiday Inn would have given better service, no kidding. We paid nearly $1200 a night and had to beg for clean towels, lotion and a clean room. The manager, Jose Noriega, said he would take care of it, but he has no mojo with the housekeepers because we were treated worse after he talked to them. I am certain any other hotel in Miami would be better. Maybe they were having a bad week, but I wouldn't risk $1200 a night on those odds. Check out Bobbi B., Savannah R., and Andrew C'S reviews if you don't believe me. The Delano is Terrible.
HOT! This place has plain sex written all over it. Yeah, it's super douchey, but sh!t, you're in South Beach...
You'll be overpaying for everything - from drinks at the pool bar, to the food at Blue Door - but you can always save a nice chunk of change at the San Juan across the street and hate yourself for it instead.
4.5 stars. This is just a beautiful hotel, a little better than the Shore Club - both are owned by the Morgans Hotel group. Shore Club is for partyers, Delano is for relaxing. The dark wood flooring, high ceilings, pool table around the main lobby make for a relaxing atmosphere.
We didn't stay in the hotel, but the pool lounge area at night was beautiful. Again, you can come in if you have the privilege card from the Morgans Hotel group. Palm tree-ladened grounds, white beds lay along the side of the infinity pool with candle-lit trays all along the side. A few tables placed inside of the pool (shallow part - 6 inches). Private white cabanas along the outer rim of the pool grounds. The drinks were stiff, but expensive of course.
I would pay the price to stay at this hotel for a real vacation.
We didn't stay here. Thought about it, but decided on the hot steaming deal at the Ritz instead.
But, many friends demanded we head to the Delano for drinks after dinner.
Delano's a typical Morgans place, decorated in really cool themes. I'm not much for modern/contemporary, but I do appreciate talent when I see it.
The famous couch where everyone takes a picture - it's adorable, but not at all what I expected. I thought it was going to be a separate room, not right when you walk in. The sushi bar was cool, though no one was there and I had no idea what its purpose was till later.
Then I walked out the back, and fell in love. The trees!!!!! So effing gorgeous, that pool/orchard area is! With the beds! And little side rooms to canoodle in! Man oh man I loved it. And then, I stopped short. I saw the sole wrought iron table in the pool. I wanted it. I wanted to sit there and have cocktails and play footsies so badly. But alas, it was already taken.
I sat at another table - not wrought iron, and definitely NOT in any body of water - and enjoyed my incredibly overpriced PLASTIC CUP mojitos. [really Delano - $20 for an 8oz plastic cup - you should be ASHAMED of yourself!!]
Really loved it there. Would totally go back.
Now, if only I could've gotten that cute little table in the pool or the obligatory picture of myself on that couch, then I'm sure I'd give it 5 stars!
"I like to do hood rat things with my friends."
side note: We didn't stay in the hotel only visited for drinks..and possibly the best night in Miami.
they have a table and chairs in the shallow end of the pool. great. we made friends with the bartender and paid for one drink all night. great. got really drunk and took scandalous pictures with the HUGE chess game pieces. great. gorg lobby. great. made the cab driver play "hot tracks" and take us through the McDonald's drive through.great. spilled my orange pop in the cab.not so great. perf night. perf hotel. even better bar.go.
Beautiful hotel filled with beautiful people. From the moment you walk in you will be relaxed.. moss covered entry way, dark wood flooring, high ceilings and a great pool table in the lobby. NOTE: The lobby gets pretty busy on Saturday nights as they have a DJ and bar.
Walk through the lobby outside to the pool. The grounds are filled with palm trees, a life size chess board, and the typical Miami white beds. At night the pool area also transforms into a bar/lounge area with some tables in the pool (shallow end of course), candles, and for a small ($300) fee you and your guests can have bottle service in the white cabanas surrounding the pool.
Drinks were strong and tasty but maintained the Miami price tag. Great, relaxing hotel .. and excellent eye candy for all.
Recently spent a week in SoBe, and spent many of those nights at the Delano. The basement-level club/lounge is a decent joint with great crowds. But we spent the majority of our time out at the pool-side bar, where you can just kick back and drink the night away. I can't get over the atmosphere, with the pool, the tall palms, and the breeze of the ocean. Time passes way too quickly out there at night.
Drinks are some of the priciest I found in SoBe; expect a round for 6 to set you back 100 bucks. Easily.

With rooms starting around $1000 a night, the Delano was a bit out of our budget during our stay in… Read more »
We were going to stay at the Fontainebleau until I saw the reviews on Yelp.
I am glad we decided to stay at the Delano. As a person with OCD, I truly enjoyed the completely white rooms. The Terrace Suite has a nice outdoor patio area to enjoy the Miami sun and the in room bar was great for us alcoholics.
The service is what truly differentiates the Delano from other hotels I have stayed at. From the minute we walked in, we were treated like kings. The concierge took care of all our restaurant and club reservations. They let us check in 3 hours early and checkout late. And when I was going to miss my flight back to LA - the hotel had a car rush me to the airport instead of waiting for a cab. Truly 5 star service.
+1 for the minimalist look of my hero Phillipe Starck
+1 for the high tech rooms complete with wireless web and enough flat screens to fill an electronics store
P.S. - The Delano may have better rooms and service than the Fontainebleau, but its pool is lacking in comparison. It looks like the billions they spent on the Fontainebleau went straight to the pool.
This hotel is so played out! I had remembered good things about it but unfortunately, my stay was not the great experience that I thought it would be.
THE worst nights of sleep I've ever had in a hotel in my life! The walls are paper thin. I might as well have put a sign on the door that said DISTURB because that seemed to be the going theme of my stay here... The maids sound like they are bowling in the hallways. The doors start slamming like clockwork at around 8 am... It doesn't matter what day it is, don't even bother to set your alarm clock, you WILL get woken up guaranteed! Did any of the people rating this place 4 and 5 stars do anything other than get bombed in the bar? Because I don't know about you but waking up at 8 am on a Saturday while I'm on vacation is not my idea of fun!
The concierge, Brian, has about as much pull as an ice peddler in Alaska. I went to Prime 112 on a 9 pm reservation and 2 hours later, I still wasn't able to get seated. I called the concierge and he couldn't do anything to help. Worthless! Then the next night he sent me to a restaurant that was closed. Thanks buddy! Ever considered the fact that being a concierge might not be the right career path for you? I'm just saying...
Disclaimer: This is more of a stream of consciousness rant than it is a proper review. I was not an overnight guest. I did not eat here-- cocktails only. I wandered about looking for fun. The search continues...
The indoor space-- um - it's spacious; has a billiard table, places to sit. Top 40 music is pumped in. The outdoor pool /bar/lounge space-- it has a pool, a bar and furniture upon which to lounge. (Ok- there are comfy beds around the pool that are great with a partner or a crowd and lovely flowy white curtains and funky places to sit and chat --worth a star.) The drinks- they are drinkable and, like most Miami Beach joints, they are also, break-the-bankable. (Stick little bottles of booze in your purse and order mixers with ice.) The crowd- give it to me, Yelp copy writers: "Eek! Methinks not." Uh huh - you knows what I'm talkin' 'bout!
I'm sorry, but I don't see the attraction in women squeezed into outfits that are 2 sizes too small (in a bad way) that lack a sense of style, panache, and buttons. "I know you paid a lot for those girls, hun, but haven't you heard of leaving something to the imagination? ANd by the way, your outfit looks exactly like that chick's outfit over there - and there, and there." As for the guys/men/man-boys/fossils/jail bait? One word: Oy! (and I'm not Jewish nor do I speakah the Yiddish.) You get my point, though, right? Uh huh! You know...
So, please- if you are an out-of- towner reading this and you want to have some fun and get some cocktails and lounge and bop around "cool" South Beach-- get on the Yelp and search the list of other places to go! Sure, this place is nice to look at, and the restaurant is not bad. BUUUT, in the name of "Change is good" - go find the places in SoBE that are heavy on the charm and soul and lighter on the silicone and Viagra! They are out there. Go to them, now!
(Here's a start: http://www.yelp.com/li...)
Thank you, I feel so much better.
Went here several times to grab a drink and meet up with people before a night out (and once to end a night.) The bar always seemed to have the right number of people at it. And a very different range of people.
The location lends it to being a good meeting ground.
It's not exactly a great place to hang all night. But it's not bad to grab a seat outside by the pool and grab a few drinks.
Girls is Minis and Short dresses, good looking guys with tans and open buttoned shirts, champagne everywhere, with the occasional cougar here and there--your typical Miami crowd!
First this place is huge- A Bar and dance floor as you walk in and further past is the beginning of the outdoor area--Then the party begins!!
You have a large pool--if you are adventurous or drunk enough--jump in! At the end you can actually put the table and chairs in the pool and dip your feet--if your not into full immersion!
Beyond that is the outdoor bar and bed style seating which I think is a little cliche since some people tend to get a little "too" comfortable on these--ive seen some def action out here! But hey, why rent the room at the hotel when you can use the outdoor bed for free, right?!
This place is right on the beach-which you can easily get too through the wooden fence in the back!--It's Awesome, the best part is to wander out there a lil tipsy with drink in hand and just admire the waves!
My only major gripe about this place is the location of the outdoor bathroom--it is located up these narrow set of stairs that people are constantly coming up and down which have to do the whole single file deal up or down!
Over all a good time--never empty handed in the drink department!! Great place to hang out with friends or meet some new people!!
Back in 2004, when I first stayed at this hotel I would have given it 5 stars. It was exclusive, clean, new, good food, they wouldn't let people who weren't staying there trample into the pool.
You know when people do drugs and they start looking old real quick, like someone who's 30 and looks 50? Well I guess after 5 years of partying that's the Delano.
It didn't have that exclusive feel, the rooms weren't pristine white, but filled with scuff marks and cold. And they let just about anyone wonder around and hang out by the pool and the outdoor patio area, so you get a lot of crappy people hanging around. Their customer service wasn't the best. Over it. I did think their Wednesday night parties were fun, but the Florida room was just Ok, I mean seriously, the ceilings are LOW, and you get claustrophobic. It's like the made a closet into a club, and let everybody in.
Stay at the Fountainblue while you can, because in 5 years it's gonna look like some old coked out model poo-bah, just like the Delano.
Don't believe me, check out the elevator. nuff said
Very nice hotel in a prime location, with a great back bar and pool area. However, the music played is marginal at best and typically the crowds have been pretty sparse.
The food has been declining in quality, which makes it more of a place to go for drinks and the view (people, pool, the night sky)... while a Miami monument to coolness, tread carefully and be prepared for some outrageous drink prices if you venture beyond beer.
I'm with Lissette, paying $12 for a cocktail that comes in a plastic cup is just obnoxious. If it wasn't for that, I'd give the Delano 4 stars.
It's still worth checking out for a couple of drinks, the lobby is part lobby part nightclub on the evenings w/dj's spinning, over sized fancy couches.
Wander out back and see if you can get into the Florida room, or walk past the long pool towards the beach for more cocktails at their outdoor bar and more tunes. The whole outdoor area is quite lavish.
The beautiful people always tend to congregate here as this is THE bar to hit. They have beds in the back, a great bar, an attractive wait staff and all the people watching you've always hoped for. I'd recommend their mojitos, which were excellent.
A word of caution, though: If you think that a bottle of anything (vodka, rum, champagne) won't be expensive, think again: most bottles will show up on your bill for $300 as a "convenience charge". Regardless, it's definitely a great place to see, if only once.
The Delano features a high hedge in front suggesting discretion at the drop off spot...if you are celb hunting this might be a decent spot to camp out. But the real thrill for me is the walk from the front door all the way to the pool.
Minimalist and surreal with flowing fabric, eclectic chairs, and alcoves - the walk unfolds in a series of elegant surprises.
Slip off your shoes and wad into the heated pool and enjoy. It is stunning in the evening.
I don't drink and couldn't care less about bottle service. I found the staff to be welcoming. I am reviewing strictly on visual appeal and the Delano is my pick if I want to drift off into smoothing tasteful warming visual elegance.
If you are looking for an atmosphere that encompasses the pretentiously fake vibe of Los Angeles night life with less movie stars and more Tony Montana wannabe's, this may be your place! With every turn you are sure to bump into a 'baller' decked out in his favorite button down club shirt, white jeans, and pinky ring ~ laying down his best line on some overly tanned, mini skirt clad, minx.
I came here on a Friday night with some colleagues after dinner - we actually had a great time lounging by the pool and people watching.
Yes, the drinks are expensive.
Yes, the crowd is douchey.
But, hey... Welcome to Miami :)
I love this place because its the only high class joint in south beach where you can casually stroll in and not get stopped by a grease-haired midget with a velvet rope and list in hand.
Granted the drinks are expensive and Yes, the blue door serves average to 'blah' food but the atmosphere is exactly what you'd expect from south beach. Phillipe Starck designed such a cool place full of classic furniture mixed with a some tim burton-esque flair. it compliments all the beautiful people in it. It even makes the ugly people look better just by being there.
The music engulfs the entire area with smooth and organically soulful house music. With a classic smooth R&B tune here and there. The drinks, again, are expensive but they are done quite well. Ask the guys by the pool to make you a mudslide..mmm, mmm good!
Props to Ian Schrager for continuing the idealism of studio 54 without its' barbaric velvet rope.
I went on a couples trip to Miami and although my partner and I were not really there to party, we wanted to check this place out. I cannot imagine actually staying in this Hotel because at 11:30pm, the lobby was one big crazy club. The decor is very South Beach with draping white fabric and white pillars. The DJ was playing awesome house music for a crowd of half-clothed women.
I felt like a nun here. I am from Chicago where the hoochie dress is not the common dress code. I wore a cute tight tube dress that was calf length and I repeat, I felt like a nun.
The drinks here were crazy expensive. $40 for a glass of cheap champagne and a redbull vodka... I wasn't surprised but still crazy expensive.
Although we danced it up for a little bit, this place was clearly not my scene in my nun outfit and with my boyfriend on our couples trip. However, this place would be super fun with a group of girlfriends. It was definitely a fun scene! If I back in Miami with my ladies, I will be sure to come here in my hoochie dress and dance it up!
I completely agree with Lisette and Lisa. This is the place to go if you want to go to a see and be seen place. Except when we went on a Tuesday night, there was hardly anyone to look at, and hardly anyone looking. A group of 10 of us were interested in sitting in/on a cabana bed. A cocktail waitress was already getting our order of Caipirinhas ready, so the other cocktail waitress would only let us sit on wet, dirty sofa loungers in the dark. Did I already mention NO ONE was there? Thankfully, the gal we initially ordered through was a much more gracious person and knew if she placed us somewhere better, we would stay there and keep on spending.
And, seriously. Plastic cups for the price you pay and the attitude some servers toss around? Not for me. Drinks were good/strong, though. Cool spot, cool hotel. Glad we went here, but beware of the cocktail waitress in the visor/hat.
The only hotel i have been escorted out of (with gal in tow). but they still get 5 stars. i wasnt rude, i wasn't crude, we just couldnt stop making out by that amazing pool that just melted like a waterfall off the sides.
Never saw her again as we went in our separate ways down the circular drive... A perfect night.
Can't wait to get ejected again.
If you have a small crew and dont mind dropping a couple hundred bucks on a bottle, get a table or bed outside at the Delano and party at least once here if you are in Miami.
Ridiculously beautiful people everywhere, overpriced drinks and a scene? For sure. But swanky and cool with it's resort / Caribbean feel.
The place is huge, with a DJ pumping in the lobby and a huge outdoor area, so there is always plenty of room. Even on busy nights, I dont mind being here because you can always get a drink quickly.
Heard it was a must. So we went to check it out. It was nice, however I guess when you are at a boutique hotel you shouldn't ask for good service. The bar area was okay.
It gets four stars cause we saw Lindsey Lohan-and I liked parent trap :)
One of the best hotels in South beach as far as i am concerned.
Great pool, food, a few nice bars, sushi spot, gym, a club downstairs
hitting the rose bar is a must exp on a buzy night. play pool
in the lobby. mingle and try to pick you up a hot babe. And if
you cant pick one up at the D. something is wrong with you.
If your on vacation in Miami, stop in and have a drink it will run
you around 9.00, but its well worth it. I mean your in MIami
so have fun! enjoy yourself! the rooms are the best!
Um, this review is more from sneaking into the hotel on New Year's Eve than actually staying in it - which never happened. Ahhh, the college years - where all behavior is acceptable.
After attempting to hop the fence at another shwanky spot (and quickly escorted out) my date and I decided to "act" as guests at the Delano. A bottle of tequila and many beers later, we entered the front door as if we owned the place.
As we made our way to the courtyard of the hotel, we stopped along the gorgeous pool. For new year's eve at the Delano, there weren't many people around. Where was everyone?
I asked my date if she was up for skinny dipping. She was, partially because it felt like we had the hotel to ourself and hey, it's New Year's!
Five minutes later, about 50 people in tuxedos and gowns begin to encircle the pool. We immediatly greeted them with drunken cheers and they (horrifyingly I'm sure) cheered and greeted us back.
Good times.
I love love love love love the Delano. Service was top-notch, the restaurant offers delicious food, the bar staff was super accommodating and friendly. Everyone who worked there, collectively, make you feel like you own the place.
Definitely. Stay. Here.
My favorite hotel ever. Will return again and again.
