It's hard to describe this mall. The newer, outdoor promenade is very modern, trendy, and nice to hang out. The indoor mall is your typical 1980s mall, which looks like it hasn't really been updated since. The layout is a little strange, with 3 different Macys, one of which you have to walk through to get to the other half of the mall.

I like it because it has EVERYTHING you need in one place. Stores range from no-name, swap-meet-ish stores to Coach. You can go bowling. You can get fabric from JoAnn. You can build a bear. You can buy real books from a real bookstore. You can take photos in a Japanese photobooth and decorate them with quirky designs. You can see a movie. There is a TJ Maxx, Burlington and Crate & Barrel. Really, it has every store I want and everything I need.

People are quick to throw around the term "ghetto" for everything, but really, this place is clean, it has the stores you need, and although it's still in the throwback mall style, it serves its purpose. It's not a yuppie mall, but that doesn't make it "scary." Completely unassuming and worth checking out.

This review is for the DEL AMO MALL SECURITY.

For the Jordan Concord 11 release in December 2011, security was highly unorganized.  They first say people can not line up at 6am then you see a mob of people rushing the door at 4 am.

Security also said that there would be two entrances to get into the mall, but when my friends and I lined up at the entrance by the foot action entrance, they told us to leave and line up on the other side.

When they started to let people first come into the mall, a number of people started to cut the line.

TIP: FOR THE NEXT JORDAN RELEASE, MAYBE 2/18/12, PLEASE BE MORE ORGANIZED WHEN IT COMES TO HANDLING THE LONG LINES

the renovations to the outdoors portion of the mall makes this place worth coming to. occasional thugs that come from the ghetto (bc they burned down their malls during the riots) make it uncomfortable.

    places to visit:

    urban outfitter
    amc
    lucky strike
    buffalo wild wings
    lazy dog cafe
    bj's

Forget about the parking here. It's insane. I hate going here almost specifically for that fact. Overall, the mall is older looking and not much has changed since I was a kid. The only cool part about the mall is the new outside "prommenade" area... They did a great job on that. The inside portion needs to be modernized a bit, though, to match the same high-end feeling if that's the image they're trying to portray...

Believe me, this mall was absolutely great in the 1970s, quite good in the early 1980s, and the outdoor section in the 1960s, was good. It has gone almost completely downhill. The new outdoor section, while having some nice features, displaced perhaps the best section of the mall, with Aladdin's Castle, Pet store and more. People come to Del Amo from all over, thus morale is lower. Of course, there are still good stores, but this mall is a fraction as good as before.

Del Amo mall is soon to become an indoor swap meet if they keep excepting these unknown names for stores. Like a store completely dedicated to selling phone cases? come on. And that other store downstairs near Macy's thats a convenient shop? omg I couldnt believe that. But I guess the Del Amo is getting desperate for tenants and they are willing to accept anybody to stay a float. Really sad to see them go out like this. Im assuming they have got about maybe another 7 or 8 years before they really shut down the mall completely.

Del Amo is okay, but I love that it's connected to an outdoor portion of the mall which is really so beautiful at night!!!  Look up to see yellow christmas lights lacing the skyline... it's so beautiful.  Great offering of restaurants, PF Changs, BJ's, etc.  Great offering, and I'll assume a great happy hour offering as well.  The food court is cool, any typical food court.  Just be prepared to take a giant escalator from the 1st floor to the 3rd floor and don't look down!!!!  Such a long ride, kind of freaky, but it's fun I guess.  Not really a big deal.

1 star for the huge indoor mall; 3 stars for the newer outdoor shopping area

The indoor main mall is so seriously ghetto. It's filled with a lot of no-name stores and is a huge maze of junk. The only civil part is the newer outdoor mall that they built which redeems this place a bit (Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, Lucky Strike, Z Gallerie, and the H&M just inside the door to the hellish area). Whenever I head there, I don't go beyond H&M because what lies past that is pretty hood.

Been coming here since middle school. didn't come that much until high school when they built the promenade. now, i usually only go for the movies since the AMC theater is so much more comfortable than the one at the galleria. inside the mall is okay. typical stores. i only go to Book Off, Joanns,...yupp that's it. oh and occasionally me and my friends will go to the purikura machine which is the japanese photo booth which is SO much better than the ones in america :| other than that i barely come here nowadays. i never come during the holidays either. too many people that aren't very considerate. it's gotten ghetto over the past few years.

In California there has been an increase in anti-loitering laws. The intent of this vague but useful law is to crack down on prostitution and drug related activity.

With that being said this mall was on some BULLSHIT. I came here to grab dinner and drinks at Lazy Dog with friends and after thought about going to the Lucky Strike Lounge. Because of unforeseeable complications we decided against Lucky Strike and proceeded to my car located in the parking lot adjacent to the complex. Upon our arrival, my friends and I sat in my car debating the next move (to go back or leave).  We sat in the car in silence for approximately 5 minutes, when out of nowhere mall security approached our car. Dramatic as fuck, these losers instructed me to get out the car (which I ignored), and badgered us regarding our presence in their "sacred" parking lot. I informed the idiot that we just got to our car and when figuring out what we wanted to do next.  He said we were loitering and needed to vacate the premises a.s.a.p.

    WTF???

I asked him how we were loitering when we haven't been in our car for more than 10 minutes before they interrupted our silence. I asked if he even knew how long we were sitting there and because he was utterly incompetent he replied NO. He informed me that the mall has an anti-loitering policy and that we have to leave once our business is complete at the mall -_-.... he continued to harass and follow me (by car) until we vacated the premise.

Incidents like this occur when you give incompetent people a little bit of power. Obviously this re-re doesn't understand the purpose behind anti-loitering. Most people come to "hang out" but we were actual patrons and when we paused to figure out what's next, were harassed (in a RUDE) manner about why we were still there.

Fuck you Del Amo, I am not a drug dealer, strawberry, Jehovah witness, homeless man or any other type of solicitor. I am an educated young woman who had a decisive moment and was subsequently HARASSED for it. You apparently don't know how to make your mall welcoming. So eat a steaming pot of dick.

As far as the store selection goes. Great stores. But definitely cliche you can find them anywhere. I wouldn't risk the drama over basic bitch stores such as Urban and Forever -_-

Just another mall but gigantic.  Same stores you see in every mall.

    Less ghetto than the galleria.

Plenty of places to sit outside of stores if you are with a shop-a-holic and you dont wanna stand around in the stores waiting for whoever you're shopping with.

I really miss the old food court.  I park right by it and start there and work my way to the escalator, go up it, through the macys, and then all the way to the outdoor area.

The fountain in the outdoor area does a cool light show at night time.

Been a regularly for many years. Got dinky over the past decade. They've since upgraded/demolished the part of the mall that used to have a United Artists theater (where my mom got scabies, ew) and Montgomery Ward.

Overall, it is a large mall and has a large variety of stores, despite part of it getting really run-down and populated with Forever 21 knock-off stores.

I have been going to this mall ever since I was a little girl.
The only think that keeps me coming back in my adult age is the newly built promenade. All of the other stores can be found somewhere else in a nicer mall. I think they need to get better stores. The food court is also played out.

This is a HUGE yet unassuming and modest shopping mall. No super fancy upscale stores. The only one I can think of is the Coach store, and that's not fancy for LA standards. I've been coming to Del Amo since the wee age of four (that was 1989..yea I'm sorta old). My mom, brother, and I used to journey to Montgomery Ward and I would get lost in all the nicknacks. I would tag along with my brother to Aladdin's Castle to play arcade games, then hop over to Hot Dog on a Stick or Carl's Jr for a quick bite. I even got my first job at this mall. Most of these stores don't exist today, but I still find amusement and enjoyment in going to Del Amo Mall. I've seen the mall evolve and change, and although Torrance has seen an influx of prick OC-type yuppies, the stores don't reflect it- and I love that.

I love that there's once again a theater in this mall and that there's an Anthropologie. What I'm sad to see is that some of the smaller independent stores (RIP Irene's Story & hand dipped ice cream shop w the grandma working there) are being pushed out and replaced by chain stores. Blech I don't want to shop for clothes and accessories that everyone else has. Either way, I grew up in the bosoms of this mall and it definitely garners 4 stars from me for all the memories it holds and the shopping needs it fulfills.

This mall is kind of a dream come true for me. The parking lots are plentiful, the mall itself looks gorgeous with all of it's lights, and the stores are perfect for me! If a fashion center has Forever 21, H&M, Macy's, TJ Maxx, Express, and a wide variety of food options...you got me! After just moving here from Boston, Del Amo is definitely the mall that I feel the most comfortable at. For some reason, it reminds me of home.

I just wish it closed later!

You almost have to divide this mall into 2 sections:  the 'old inside', and the 'new outside'.

The old inside mall is dreadful.  It has a crazy shape that guarantees you will get lost.  For instance, you actually have to go into Macy's to get to another floor of the mall and I'm convinced Burlington Coat Factory was once a dungeon. The only good thing about the old inside mall is that it's large.

The new outside mall is awesome!  It's nicely laid out, clean and well lit at night.  There are many stores, 7 nice restaurants, a bowling alley and a huge AMC theater.  If the entire mall was like this, it would be 5 stars.

At the end of the day, I will only come to the Del Amo if it's for the new section.

This is simply a low-class, low-end mall that maybe was once great.  The layout is poor, and the interior is awful.  I'd compare the setup to more of a flea-market than a modern mall.

This mall is way to large and spread out.  I basically never go to the portion that's on the south side of Carson Street.  It is a bit annoying if you need to go there, because you have to walk through Macy's to get there.

The food court is pretty decent.  Chick-Fil-A, Mongolian BBQ and Mrs. Fields are all pretty good.

The movie theater (an AMC) is pretty good as far as AMC's go (although the IMAX is not a real IMAX).

Parking is pretty decent.  I can usually find a covered spot pretty easily.

Also, as far as the outside part goes, there's Starbucks, Jamba Juice and Urban Outfitters that are all good.

Finally, Buffalo Wild Wings and BJ's are both pretty good lunch spots (BJ's is good if you have a big group with picky people).

Going to the mall is just not my cup of tea. I really only come here if I need to go to JC Penney or Sears. The few times every year I come here it's almost always ghetto. I like the Aaahs store for funny gifts but I'd rather drive to the one in Hollywood or Westwood just to avoid the ghetto-ness.

Do yourself a favor and go to the South Bay Galleria. Still ghetto but you won't get lost as hell in a maze of fabulous ghetto-ness.

This mall brings back so much memories. The very first time I came here was when I had a sleepover with my best friend (who is from the area) and we would always come here. I even remember first, initial reaction "This mall NEVER ENDS!" LOL.

To this day, I sometimes comes here when I'm around the area and have the chance. This mall has decent selection of stores- Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, F21, etc etc etc.... I love the stores that are outdoors than the ones indoor. But they are still awesome either way. :)

After being a regular patron of this mall for as long as I can remember, I think it's time for me to finally review it.

I remember in 8th grade we took a field trip to the city hall where we heard a Torrance Councilman talk about the future of the city; for a moment, he spoke of the future of Del Amo. (Keep in mind this was prior to the addition of the new Lifestyle Wing). He said the city's vision for Del Amo is to build a mall that rivals South Coast Plaza, a regional destination for anyone living in So Cal. He said a "Class One" Nordstrom (a la South Coast) would sign on as a major tenant to Del Amo, including other high-end and popular retail stores.

    Fast-forward eight years later....

There is no Nordstrom. There is no influx of popular retail outlets, and the inside hasn't been renovated. This mall is aging badly. The inside feels like it's nostalgic for the 1980s. There's a $1 store, which is a huge eyesore. Random, insignificant, and low-profit-generating stores line the mall, and the quality of stores gets progressively worse as you work your way from the life-style wing to the Sears on the other end. It sucks to say this about a local Torrance destination, but what is up with Simon and the rest of mall management? Clearly, this mall has no direction whatsoever, and while they were successful at bringing in H&M recently, I can't imagine any major retailer wanting to set up shop anywhere inside the mall. The clientele seems to have changed too, but this could be as a result of the poor store selection.  As for the restaurant selection, they have done a pretty decent job with that, but the same can not be said at all for their ability to bring in good stores.

I read somewhere that the median household income within a few miles of Del Amo is higher than that of Westfield Century City, Beverly Center, and South Coast Plaza. So why isn't Del Amo attracting these customers? Don't they realize that there is massive untapped revenue potential within a few miles of the mall? Instead of bringing a random jewlery repair/cleaner store, bring in Lacoste. Instead of having a TJ Maxx/Marshalls, make room for Nordstrom.Heck, throw in a Bloomingdale's instead of having 3 Macy's! Get rid of the $1 store, since it gives off the wrong vibes. Remodel the entire interior, bring in more natural lighting, change the floorings, modernize the architecture, and give lease incentives to draw in major tenants, and finally get the ball rolling on this renovation that should have happened before the recession. Obviously, this is much easier said than done, but as of now, there seems to be no sign of an effort [yet]  to change the mall. Hopefully in 10 years there would be no need to go to Costa Mesa or to Beverly Hills/West LA to do some decent shopping.

Del Amo used to be the go-to mall back in the day. Everybody wanted to go here instead of Galleria or Old Town Mall. They had the best theaters (UA on the North side), Aladdin's Castle, Perry's Pizza, STOR (Ikea's Competition), one of the first Chick-Fil-A's in the state, Bullocks, Broadway, MGA... Memories. Del Amo was actually deemed the largest mall in America in one point in time. My how times have changed.

Then it went through it's initial makeover, adding chains like Old Navy, Good Guys, Disney Store, Macy's, etc. It helped a little but business continued to fade. Galleria had better stores and the crowd here just started to get terrible. People would rather spend the extra time to drive to South Coast or Century City to get a better experience.

Then came the face lift. The new promenade area came about and big name modern stores gave business a big boost. A giant cineplex added revenue along with a couple of big name restaurants. Lucky Strike added a different element as well although it does attract the drunken crowd at times but that's only during the night time when the actual mall is already closed.

We still frequent Macy's a lot and they added a Crate & Barrel too. For a while, they had a Farmer's Market on the North side of the mall but that was short lived it seems. We used to go to the Banana but they closed down. Everything else is just okay. As long as Del Amo still exists, we will give homage to our youth and try to give business to an aging monster. They might want to consider compacting their footprint to make it easier to get around the whole mall but other than that, it's all nostalgia for us.

I love this mall! Yes, it can get crowded. Yes, it can get a loud, especially the outside shopping mall. But, I keep coming back because of the stores. This mall is the only one I know of that is clean, well-maintained, doesn't look worn down and beaten up (like the galleria). There are no sketchy people roaming through. Oh, and there are no high maintenance, upscale stores that would make someone like me think twice about going into. There are a great selection of stores. My favorites being H&M, Forever21, PacSun, American Eagle, Love Culture, Levi's and Beach Works. This mall has it all. But you won't find places like Burberry, Louis Vitton, Tiffany's, or anything like that. Best part, this mall is HUGE. Great restaurants (RA sushi is the best!), great bowling alley, great movie theaters with IMAX, and great shopping!

I love Del Amo Mall. You have to love it bc there is a Chick-fil-a in the mall.

The only thing that can make this place better is if they add a Nordstrom. I do not enjoy going to the movies here bc of all the teeny boppers but the AMC Theater was a nice addition to the mall as well as Lucky Strike Bowling even thought the cost to bowl there is outrageous. I hardly ever frequent the "new" outdoor part but I make an occasional visit to The Gap, Urban Outfitters and Free People.

New stores such as Build-a-Bear, Hollister and H&M have been added and all the old favorites like American Eagle, Express, VS, Old Navy and a new jazzed up Pac Sun have stayed.

As for "major" department store shopping here you only have Macy's. There is also a Macy's Home Store. On the "far side" of the "old old" mall you will find a Sears and JC Penny's. Oh and Cinnabon also is on the far old old side. I wouldn't walk but it's worth a drive.

Food Court is on the large side and have your typical fares such as Sabarro, Hot Dog on a Stick, Teriyaki and such. But the deal maker is the Chick-fil-a. Actually both malls in the South Bay have a Chick-fil-a. And who says living in the South Bay is lame? Winner winner chick-fil-a dinner! Plenty of restaurants also line the mall. You can find a Lucille's BBQ, PF Chang's, Lazy Dog Cafe, BJ's Brewhouse, Jerry's Famous Deli, Pat and Oscars and a few others.

There are a few Starbucks locations as well as a Jamba Juice. Barns and Noble is also in the same plaza as the mall.

Parking is usually a nightmare but it's pretty much the one place in town that every one flocks to. I would rather fight parking here than drive out to SaMo to shop on the Promenade or all the way out to South Coast Plaza.

It's not a bad mall at all so don't knock it. And if you begin to doubt it well then go get some nuggets from chick-fil-a and think of all the people who dream of chick-fil-a but live to far away from it.

One of my favorite malls in the whole wide world because they have all of my favorite stores. Most malls usually only have an Anthropologie or an Urban Outfitters, but this mall has both! Their Ann Taylor Loft is pretty good for work clothing, although it's a bit small. The H&M here is enormous! I can pretty much get all of my girly, indulgent shopping done here in one stop...which I love!

Onto the negatives. The bathrooms here are something straight out of a nightmare. If you need to go, I highly recommend eating at one of the restaurants in the mall, like Pat 'n Oscars, and using their facilities instead. Also, the layout of the mall is horrendous. For instance, I wanted to hit up both the Sweet Factory and See's (please don't judge me), but I realized...both are all the way on the other side of the oddly laid out mall!!!!!!!! RIDICULOUS! I'd have to cross a bridge and then some just to get my sweet tooth fixing on. That's way too much work in my opinion!

Another quick note - do NOT go to their frozen yogurt place, called Lov Yogurt. It SUCKS! If you read my reviews, you know I eat a lot of frozen yogurt and this place has the WORST yogurt I've ever tasted in my entire life. It's super watered down and just tastes nasty...almost reminiscent of medicine.

Other than those slight negatives, I still LOVE this mall. Come to think of it...because the layout is so dispersed, it doesn't appear very crowded, which is ultimately a good thing :)

    Good Ol' Del Amo!

I remember back in the day that this was the place to chill after high school! (Gosh I feel so old!) I also remember how they used to film Jackie Brown at the Macy's here (the original Macys; 3rd floor that is). I remember when my friend met first boyfriend (and now husband and they have babies together). I remember when there was a McDonalds and Aladdin's Castle Arcade. I remember there was a GMC nutrition store and the Old Fashion Ice cream/Lemonade stand was there. I remember when there was a Robinson's/May where Macy's currently stands. I remember when there was a United Artists theater there where I first saw Titanic, which is now LA Fitness.

That's how long I've known Del Amo. The mall was made in the 1970's and has undergone a big renovation. And still coming.

    The new improved Del Amo:
H&M, Forever 21 (2 levels), Lucky brand, Levi's, Anthropologie, Urban Outfitters, AMC 18, BJ's Brewery, Jerry's Deli, Johnny Rockets, Buffalo Wild Wings, Lazy Dog Cafe, Ra Sushi, Mac, Hollister, Old Navy, Cotton On, Coach, Zumiez, Build-a-Bear and many more!

I think the mall is still undergoing more changes and I don't think this will ever be the end of Del Amo. Although they don't have the high end stores just like South Coast Plaza, but it's a decent mall if you're shopping in the area.

This is the worst place to buy sunglasses ever. Stood there for 15 minutes to return a pair of sunglasses at Sunglass Hut near Old Navy. Since no one showed up, went to the other Sunglass Hut near Brookstone in the same mall. That one doesn't carry the same brand so couldn't take return. Went back to the other one again near Old Navy and finally someone was there. But she said that she cannot do returns. The guy that can do returns is on lunch break. I've never had any luck with Sunglass Hut. And definitely don't do any of there "deals". They will find ways to screw you. I will NEVER buy anything from Sunglass Hut again!!!

Update:  I actually went back about 6 hours later.  There was a different person working there, named Emanie.  She was very efficient and friendly, so I have to move this up to two stars.  At the same time, what company has times where they don't have someone that can take returns?

This mall is huge.  I'm almost positive I saw TWO Victoria's Secret.  And i think there are two separate buildings.  Take some serious note to where you park and make sure you can find your way back, because HOLY CRAP the place is big.

I always hit this spot for the early show. Sorry but the movies have lost their minds with $12. I never pay more than $6 bucks for my flix. I love this place and I will drive pass the AMC 20 (which is closer) to hit this spot. Cushy seats and I am now in love with the cheese stick with marinara sauce! Can't ask for anything more.

It looks like Del Amo has some tough love (and love love, glad to see that). For a little town in suburbia, this mall gives us something to do without having to drive too far.

I am fond of the newer, outdoor area of the mall. Brands subjected to often window shopping: Gap, Urban Outfitters, H&M, Anthropologie, Free People. I've netted some Anthropologie pieces which were sold out in my size online on sale here. (For reference, I am a XS/0-2 which seems to go quickly online.)
Also, the JoAnns seals the deal for me. The most cost effective way to buy from JoAnns is to wait for the 40% off one item coupons that rolls in bimonthly and pick up things you need. Their fabric remnants rack (all 50% off) is a DIY junkie's dream.

The food is overpriced, but it's mall food: All mall food is overpriced. The nice thing about Del Amo is that you're a block or less away from restaurants.

During the weekends, this place is overrun with teenagers, though I was guilty of this growing up here. If you mind the crowd, find a weekday to browse the offerings. If you're a teenager, go on a rampage!

That being said, it's really nothing special. It's just a big mall really. If you're out of town, this shouldn't be a major stop or a stop at all even. It's simply a convenient gathering of a bunch of brands for the locals. And, for that purpose, it serves us well.

This place is okayyyy....definitely not a first choice but since I'm in the area so often I find myself here more often than not. Their outdoor section of the mall is very nice, but as you progress inwards and further down, you see how the mall gets older, dingier, and sadder. If you make your way to about joann's - most shopfronts are closed by this point. You dint mind many people who make it this far either. It's kinda sad looking when you get to joann's. They have some popular chain stores but are still missing a bunch as well. Granted there still is good stuff to be found in this mall, but there are happier places to wander around and shop/look at pretty things.

Such a cute outdoor mall with some pretty fun stores, all very decent sizes.  They have lights up now during holiday times.

Good time, looks new and a good variety of stores.  I'm not a local so I can only judge by the appearance and experience I had.  I went when it was rainy and I came just for Sunday happy hour at RA so everything was closed and very nice.

5 stars for the memories I hold with this "mall".  I grew up going here back when Alladin's Arcade, Old Fashioned Ice Cream, UA Cinemas and Robinson's May were the shiznitz. Gone are the anchors and here lies random mom/pop shops with the occasional anchor stores here and there. The only saving grace is the new outdoor wing...
I hope this mall gets a much needed revival!

Someone I once knew and I used to go here mainly because we wanted to take a drive around the area and so we decided to go here for kicks. I've visited a few stores but honestly the only store that catches my eyeballs is the Urban Outfitters store.

Food court is eh-eh...nothing to rave about. Typical...kaka food. Surrounded by a lot of teeny-boppers.  I agree there should be better quality stores but perhaps its aimed toward a market of affordability.  Whateves!

I do like that it has an outdoor atmosphere, except when you're shopping and mother nature decides to rain on yah. So I gave you 3 for so-so, asi-asi, eh-eh...at least it is NOT the Baldwin Hills Mall....yuck!

this place is interesting because you noticed where they began expansion.  I guess we started at the "old" end of the mall and in that area seemed outdated and not very lively, then going across the mall got a facelift then there's the outdoor promenade.  this mall is ok nothing spectacular except it does have a movie theater and a bowling alley.
