I really liked this place! We had the Chicken Waldorf and Caprese sandwiches, and they were both delicious!! We went back twice for these. We also had breakfast here one day and it was good, but not as good as lunch. The only downer is that they close so early!

Dining sure isn't a strong point in Yosemite Valley, but then that's presumably not why you come to a national park.
On one of the October weekend days we were at Yosemite, though, we had had a 7am to 5pm day full of driving, hiking, sightseeing, etc., and were tired of our peanut butter sandwiches and trail mix. We were famished and just wanted somebody to make us some food.
But after 5pm in Yosemite Valley at this time of year, forget about it. We found this out the hard way, finding Degnan's Deli closed and dark at 5:20 pm. Except for the Ahwahnee (and maybe the food court at Yosemite Lodge), all food operations apparently shut down.
Seriously, WTF?!
So a couple of days later we finished up a hike around 3 pm and checked out Degnan's for a late lunch after finding the whole food agglomeration at Curry Village shut down. Between the two of us, we had an Italian sub on ciabatta and a pastrami-and-swiss on rye. The former was surprisingly OK and the latter was pretty bad (subpar, thick-cut pastrami and dried-out bread). The sandwiches were decent-sized and under seven dollars each, though, which is pretty reasonable when you've got a captive clientele as you do in the Valley. But certainly nothing to get excited about, either way.
I suspect Degnan's is a zoo in the summertime, and I would likely eat twenty-seven or so consecutive peanut butter sandwiches before I caved in and fought the crowds here at that time of year. -

This place sells an assortment of popular drinks, chips and prepackaged salads and sandwiches that you would find at a 7/11....with the option of getting a freshly made sandwich from a deli.
I got a simple yet serviceable breakfast egg and cheese croissant that, while pricey for $3.99, was at least large and thus equal to the value you paid for it.
Overall, the place is pretty neat and just a nice stop for anyone visiting Yosemite (your options are limited anyways).Listed in: Yosemite!

One of the better places to eat in the valley. Turkey sand with cranberry mayo on whole wheat, delicious! My dinning partner had the Ham and Provolone on white roll. He said it was good as well. Excellent brownies drizzled with caramel was a great finishing touch.
Skip the plain "mac salad" though. -
Review from Jen K.
I had the chicken salad sandwich, caprese sandwich, and the biscuit with sausage gravy. I ate here 3 times because this was the only place I could find good food in Yosemite that was well priced. The staff there was mostly friendly and pleasant. One guy appeared to have a bad day, and was giving attitude at the register.

YUMMY FRESH SANDWICHES AND WRAPS!!!! It was a great pit stop to eat here and enjoy nature. Definitely get the hand made sandwiches because that's the best deal here. And it tastes phenomenal!

I ate here twice on my Yosemite trip. On my first visit, I tried their Italian sandwich ($6.75), which consisted of salami, prosciutto, and a couple of other meats. It was a surprisingly well-rounded sandwich, complete with fresh greens and the like. I paired that up with a small bowl of Minestrone soup ($2.75). This is a good deal because the small bowl is a pretty good size. Too bad the soup wasn't all that great.
The next day, they had a special - BBQ Beef sandwich with a side of mac salad ($7.50). The sandwich was pretty good, but I had to eat it with a fork because it was so messy. The mac salad was ordinary, but a nice-to-have on the side.
Overall, this place is a pretty good option if you need a bite to eat. Grab something, eat at one of the outdoor tables, and enjoy that fresh Yosemite air. -

Great place to eat at between hikes and sight seeing. I had the chicken salad sandwich with macaroni salad and it was really good!!!

Great place to get a sandwich made to order and piece together a satisfying lunch. Problem is lines can get long and the employees all seem to have a "chip" on their shoulder. But then again, that seems to be the case with all DNC employees.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!
I was in Yosemite for horseback riding. The guide told me to go to Degnan's because they have "amazing sandwiches". My girlfriends and I go to the deli - line was extremely long, workers were taking their sweet time, and the sandwiches? DID NOT TASTE GOOD!
We had shared two sandwiches:
Chicken Waldorf Salad on Croissant
Turkey and Swiss on Wheat
Both sandwiches were dry, turkey was thick but flavor-less, overdone on the cheese,... the list goes on!
Again, horrible experience and would definitely remember to bring my own lunch next time. -

Bless you Degnan, whoever you are. After 2 straight dinners of pizza and lunches of stale protein bars it was clear the dining element of Yosemite was not a selling point. This deli made it a little more manageable though. With made to order sandwiches, great fresh fruit, a decent variety of teas and coffee and other items to build a healthy(ish) meal with and at a reasonable cost, it was a welcome find and one to remember for future visits.
They also have internet booths int he cafe seating area but given that I went on vacation to escape the everyday confines of "real life" I refrained from checking it out. -

This place is a beehive around lunchtime. Both the deli (downstairs) and the pizza loft (upstairs) are overflowing with people, but that's not necessarily because the food is that good. It IS good, but it's not THAT good. It's just that there aren't all that many options in the Valley.
The Deli has good sandwiches and pre-made items. Lots of beverage choices, too. The pizza loft will make your pizza for you (you can choose your toppings, sauce, crust, etc.) and it's usually fantastic but the wait can be really long.
The side area serves coffees, ice creams, and pastries and none of them are phenomenal. Slow service and not a very big selection, but heck, you're supposed to be camping and enjoying nature so why complain? -

Suprisingly enough they have some pretty damn good sandwiches here for a decent price.
I think they are 6 bucks each and they have a variety of meats, cheese, and breads available along with all the vegetables a hiking boots granola eatin hippie would love.
The sandwiches are pretty good sized as well.
Staff was friendly, service was quick and I got 3 meals for less than 20 bucks when I figured it would be more like 40.
This seems to be the best place to get some cheap good eats in Yosemite. They could easily charge double what they do for what they sell and still get away with it but I'm glad they didn't. -
Review from Yee Gan O.
A reasonably priced eating option in Yosemite Village.
There's a fresh sandwich deli counter. 8 choices of sandwiches with a choice of 5 different breads. Also other typical grocery store food options, which are a bit expensive but this isn't surprising.
Seating is outside, which is the best place to admire the stunning views -

This place has the best food in YNP. In addition the grocery options are also good and priced fair.
Now, I qualify this review in that there is not a lot of competition that gives Degnan's a run for the money. So, you take your luxury where you can get it!
The sandwich that I ordered (roast beef) was big enough that I could eat half for lunch and half for dinner. So, to say that it is overpriced is not really fair. Further, you are in the middle of a National Park and you are gonna have to pay a premium for the food to be transported in and prepared. We went in the middle of summer, so there were enough staff to move the long line along.
A solid choice! -

Definitely a great little sandwich shop, always a good option for a quick lunch, or a pair of sandwiches for a hike (2 sandwiches split for 4 people, what a deal). It's pretty generic since it got taken over by the service conglomerate like the rest of the park, but it's still good.
One little story. I was on a family vacation in Tuolumne and we spent a day in the valley, like we usually do to avoid the crowds; anyway we walk into Degnan's and my mom all the sudden starts talking to the workers and telling them that when she worked there they made the fastest sandwiches around and had to wear ridiculous outfits. I was amazed. "Mom, *you* worked at Degnan's?" She had, for two summers when she was in college.
I both have a newfound respect for my mother and a newfound desire to avoid bringing her into random sandwich shops in the future. -

Decent, well-made sandwiches on quality breads. Generous: a good deal given you are somewhat held captive in a National Park. Quality selection of Honest Iced Teas. The roast beef and cheddar paired excellently with the White Tea/Pear. Nice "on the go" meal.

Extremely decent for park food, I was quite surprised. Variety of gourmet sandwiches at about $7 a pop. They also have breakfast sandwiches and pizza. Line is long and the tables are usually fully occupied, but for what it is, its surprisingly good.
TIP: If you are camping, there is a wide assortment of condiment packets available, included tobasco sauce. -
Review from Rourke M.

The sandwiches here would be considered good anywhere in California. In Yosemite Valley, however, this is easily the best food available. There's a great selection of house sandwiches, or you can order a la carte.
There also a good selection of drinks and chips.
Prices are a little high for a simple sandwich, but reasonable for Yosemite. -

I guess the glowing reviews apply to non-breakfast sandwiches only. I went in for breakfast and had the croissant egg/bacon sandwich and a biscuit/gravy plate.
The croissant was the typical mushy stuff you'd make at home. The bacon was crisped in a microwave i think, so not really great. The egg layer was pretty good.
The biscuit/gravy was a disaster. I give it 4 stars on quantity of white-gooey-tasteless gravy. The biscuits were screaming to be rescued. Though for just a $1.99, I can't complain too much. I slathered on the Tabasco sauce to rescue some flavor, but it ended up tasting like vinegar and gravy.
I left pretty full, with lots of calories in my belly to holdover me over to dinner and didn't break the bank. I think I'll get a turkey sandwich for breakfast next time. -

I had the French Dip. The beef was very dry and overcooked, and the dip was extremely salty. My wife had the Italian Sandwich, which was also very salty. Despite that, I'd have to give this 3-stars as the alternatives in Yosemite are much worse. Down in the city, this is definitely a 1-star deli. The hot chocolate was suprisingly drinkable after a chilly morning. The prices are fair, so even though I wasn't fond of the food, at least I didn't feel ripped off like I would at most tourist locations.

Went to Yosemite on a day trip from camping at Shaver Lake with no real plan. Once we were in the valley and starving we knew we would have to suck it up and pay big bucks for lousy food.........Degnan's surprised us. The prices were reasonable, the service was friendly, and the sandwiches delicious; tuna, turkey & cheese, Italian cold cut and pastrami, all excellent. In fact, the sandwiches were so big, we took half home and had them for lunch on the lake the next day.

I'm afraid the order didn't come out quite as we asked. If driving in from the Bay Area, I'd bring sandwiches from Genoa Delicatessen instead.

Loved this place for inexpensive and tasty breakfast sandwiches in the morning. Bacon, egg, and ham on an english muffin hit the spot, and was a great bargain (less than $3).

You would think at a beautiful park as majestic of Yosemite people would be more peaceful and accommodating but the service here sucks! I ordered a tuna sandwich and tried telling her that I wanted avocado( which is more like a spread-that she barely put any spread so thin...) then placed the top croissant on without asking if I wanted anything else! So she wrapped it up and cut it in half...then my husband said "could you please put onions and cheese on that as well" she gave us a dirty look like 'how dare you ask for anything more that you're paying for' another guy grabbed the sandwich, threw the paper wrap away (to which the lady was upset about-seriously?!) took the soggy top off and put the missing items on.. Then placed the same torn top back on wrapped it and cut it AGAIN! ??? Horrible customer service and quality control:(

Degnan's sandwiches were pretty solid and one of the few actual meals we managed to eat while at Yosemite. Good prices, no wait, tasty combinations, plenty of meat and huge slices of cheese works for me. Perhaps we just got lucky on the no wait thing, though.

The perfect after hike meal. I couldn't stand the sight of greasy grill burgers and fries after an exhausting/dehydrating hike. Degnan's Tuluomne sandwich with turkey was just what the doctor order! Sourdough Rye packed with fresh cucumber, lettuce, tomato, sprouts, carrots, red onion and swiss could not have been more satisfying. The counter workers were friendly and patient with every customer (and we waited behind a few winners). Pretty amaxing selection of breads. Plus they didn't charge us for adding turkey to the sandwich. Lots of grub for picnics and packing in for hikes. We'll definitely hit this place up next time we're here.

One of the best options for lunch when comparing with the other frozen foods served in the Yosemite visitor center. We bought two sandwiches and saved one to eat at Vernal Fall which was very fulfilling.

This is a great place to get the basics. With everything that Yosemite has to offer this is just one of the many "simple" place to grab a quick bite to eat or a snack. If you want to get a quick simple cheap breakfast try a Degnan's biscuit for breakfast, it is basically a Mcmuffin.

Mediocre deli sandwiches and average chili. This place is good as a mini market for snacks but you are better off making a sandwich yourself. If this place wasn't in Yosemite it would be out of business. Step your game up Degnan's.

I had a tasty roast beef sandwich made to order here. They have about 7-8 choices of bread, more than I am use to having. Very good, sandwiches are about $7. This is probably one of the best valued meals in the park.

This is a very *relative* 4-star rating - relative to the other choices and being surrounded by the busy Yosemite Valley full of campers and RV's. I love Yosemite, but food service is not why i go. However, Degnan's Deli offers a good choice of quick snacks (sandwiches, cheeses, even pre-rolled sushi). The place above it, a sorta fast serve restaurant called Degnan's Loft, has pasta and pizza. The pizza and salad are pretty good. The greek was yummy. Fresh and crunchy with dark green leaves and feta and onions and pieces of olives that aren't the kind you stick on your fingers. The pizza is might tasty. Nothing special, just good and satisfying. Unless you splurge, plan ahead and actually reserve dinner, AND bring dress attire for the Ahwahnee super elite gourmet-billed dining, Degnan's Deli and Loft is one of the better places i found.

I equated my visit to Degnan's to eating anywhere at a Disney theme park. You're paying more than you should, but you're so tired (and there are no other options around) that the food tastes great. They should hire more people to work there though because the two women who were trying to do it all (make smoothies, ring up orders, serve ice cream, etc...) were working hard, but the wait was still extremely long.
