I started my DEFINE journey a short 2 months ago as I was looking for a more intimate and safe way to get a group workout in during COVID-19. The classes are small with great social distancing and man are they a good workout! My entire body is better toned and I love the encouragement of each of the instructors in all the classes. My favorite class has to be the BOUNCE class! So fun and you definitely feel tighter in all the right places.

My favorite place to work out!! Great staff and instructors who are always motivating and supportive. Going to define studios, specifically my favorite class bounce, has made working out fun and enjoyable! I recommend it to anyone from beginners and more advanced

I've attended the Define-Tanglewood 'Body" class for almost 10 years. When Covid-19 forced closure of the studio, Jennifer responded by immediately by setting up live stream classes using Zoom. Almost 200 people from all over the world are attending some of the classes. Define is the consistency in my life during this quarantine time. I'm so grateful to the instructors and that I am able to keep in touch with my workout friends.

Love the workouts- not a huge cycle person (and prefer SoulCycle far over define for cycling) however the body and bounce class are great.
The location is tiny- and the rooms when packed get unbearably hot. I mean- yes- you sweat.
But it's quite uncomfortable and the bounce class felt like "hot cardio."
Those fans on the ceiling must be only for decoration...
But I do like the classes and will return- just wish they would invest in a good a/c.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Linda T.Houston, TX69188168May 11, 2017
The only reason I'm giving this place three stars instead of two is because their define body class actually gives me a great workout and made me sweat! (just for reference- I work out 5-6x a week doing a variety of running, cycle, yoga, and gym sesh's so to make me sweat and exhausted is when I know a place is good!) Other than that, I hate to say it but define kind of sucks.
This is just comparing to different studio boutiques that I've been to in Houston, Dallas, and Austin (and one in Washington DC!). I have tried Define's revolution, body, bounce, and hammock class (only offered at the Montrose location I believe). They NEVER ask if anyone in the class is new or needs help setting up or what to have on hand like getting heavy or light weights. Their revolution classes are kind of a waste of energy- the bikes are old, the setup in the room sucks, the music sucks, and the instructors have no rhythm. Sorry I'm not sorry.
The only reason I'll go to this Define is if they have special deals, and it also helps this studio is a 10 min walk for me. Other than that, I would probably never recommend Define to others but I DO have a friend or two that really love it. I don't get it but whatever works for them!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Michael T.Snellville, GA304852396Jan 27, 2018
Overall this studio hit all the high points for a private boutique studio for spin and barre. The ambience is similar to other define studios as well as the amenities like towel service and toiletries are all great! The barre class this last time I went was ok. Not as tough as some of the other instructors I've been to. Also a couple of reasons why I gave it only 4 stars, there are no showers for getting ready after the workout and the parking can get limited on a weekend.
Bottom line..this studio is great for a boutique Barre or spin experience! Overall the instructors are great but find the one that best suits your level
Pros
Boutique studio feel with great towel and amenities
All equipment is clean and ready to use
Good location in tanglewood area
Cons
No showers for quick after workout shower
Parking can be limited on a weekend
Some instructors are more suitable for beginnersHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 11, 2015
The studio has a very nice set up and offers barre and cycle classes. I have taken both classes at this location and enjoyed them!
If you plan on taken a barre class here don't forget your socks with grips. Don't fret if you don't have one or the busyness of life provided you with short term memory loss, they have have some for purchase. Also get 2 sets of dumbells before you come into class. A lighter set and a heavier set. If it's your first time then i recommend picking the weight size 1 and 3.
The revolution class is quite enjoyable with the upbeat music you get to jam and cycle to. They do provide extra seat cushions for sore bums. Before you walk in make sure that you pick up a pair of dumbells for the arm workout you will do towards the end and a towel!. Clip on shoes are free on your first ride. Bicycles are not reserved ahead of time like other cycle studios. You get to choose your bicycle when you get there.
A big plus is, they are part of classpass =)
Enjoy your workout!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Melissa B.Washington Corridor, Houston, TX598615Mar 14, 2017
This place is ok in a pinch. The rev classes are in the back room and are ok. The instructors here are not the same quality as Ride or Ascent. They use a lot of generic motivational speak and don't really speak on how to use proper form. I tried several bikes and all of them were squeaky or were hard to adjust.
Other places are much better for the same price.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Taylor C.Crosby, TX231827Jan 24, 2018
This is a great spot. One of the best barre classes I've been to thus far. I left with my muscles feeling like jello- that means a lot of toning was going on. Haha. The instructor Jordan was super sweet and the studio was clean and modern. Also it's near the galleria which is nice.

Fantastic live stream class with Define! I signed up late and didn't have the link but they emailed it to me straight away! These classes are top notch! Hurt so good!
