6 reviews for Dee's Doggie Den
Dee's takes care of us and our boy Shadow every time. I don't have one single thing to complain about this wonderful place...and I don't think Shadow does either!
My boyfriend has been using Dee's for years, so when we took in Shadow there wasn't a question in his mind as to where he would be taking him for doggie daycare and boarding.
We've tried other places in Dallas, but none seem to compare. The facilities here are gigantic...we just recently found out she has over 5,000 square feet of outdoor play area for her guests in addition to the huge space indoors.
The real test though is seeing Shadow after every visit to Dee's. We've left him here for just a few hours during the day for daycare, up to 9 days while we were on vacation recently. Every time he comes home a happy boy, tail wagging and I know he's been in good hands. Heck, he drags us in the door when we drop him off!
They've only groomed him a handful of times (black labs don't need a lot of attention in that department) but he always comes back looking shiny and smelling pretty.
Dee's, we love you. I hope you enjoy the new satellite dish we just gave you with Shadow's most recent 9 day stay :)
I took my Cocker Spaniel here and bought the "Day Spa" package. I left and Max stayed all day and got to be in Doggie Day care which was nice. I come to pick him up around 4:30 when they told me he would be done. I arrive and they apparently "forgot" to groom him. So They told me to come back at 5:00. Upset, I left and came back. Then they proceed to rush groom him. He looked as if they did not trim his feet , nails etc. Bottom line, it's been a week or so and he looks as if he never got groomed. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE, ORGANIZATION. GROOMING. Go somewhere else!!!
I have been consistently disappointed in the grooming services at Dee's Doggie Den. They don't listen to direction when you tell them how you want your dog cut. I now go to Petropolitan for grooming services and I am SO much more pleased.
Dee's is one of a kind. Not only do they support both financially and "emotionally" the rescue group (Animal Rescue of Texas) that one of my dear friends works with, but it's just a great place where, when we have to board our dog, Buddy, we don't worry. We found Buddy when we bought our house and unlike most labs, we knew right away he had some issues. We've figured out that someone must have abused him because he's quite skiddish (he's getting better, but has weak moments). Our Vet recommended Dee's for us to board him one time when we were going out of town and the Vet was already booked. We boarded him at the former location (Skillman & Mockingbird) and weren't that impressed, but are thrilled with the new location, etc. We even got a quick tour one day when we went to pick Buddy up.
They have webcams so you can watch your pooch play or just check in to make sure all is well, but more importantly, the staff really seems to get to know each and every animal that is there. On a recent visit, we just walked in the door with Buddy and the staff immediately knew who he was before we even told them. Considering how busy they were, this impressed us and it's great to be able to trust those that you're leaving your dog/family member with when you're unable to take them along!
So I was looking at Oscar (my dog) and just thinking about how awesome he is, and I decided I should thank Dee's. We went to Dee's for dog obedience school when Oscar was about 8 months old. He was a strong willed dog who didn't do well on a leash. Every time we opened the door, he would try to run away, too. After the first session, he was already showing improvement.
The instructor, Kim, was patient but firm, and really, she was training the humans as much as, if not more than, the dogs. By the end of the basic course, Oscar walked well on a leash, interacted in a friendly way with other dogs and strangers, and responded to come, down, sit, and stay. At the end of the classes, we had a graduation ceremony, which was really cute, too.
I was totally pleased with the classes and thought they were priced very competitively (five 1-hour sessions/$125).
So why only 4 stars? Well, the facility was small, and we had to go into the parking lot to work on the walking, and the parking lot had some un-dog-friendly debris that I think should have been cleaned up before class.
Disappointed? No, for lack of a better word, Pissed is how I really felt after picking up "Lucy" (my 5 year old minature poodle) from her 1st time to be groomed at Dee's Doggie Den.We recently moved to Lakewood and I made sure to tell them we were first time customer's looking for a new groomer. Silly me I expected to be treated like they actually wanted us to come back. When we walked in three employees were behind the counter, it took a few minutes for one of them to actually make eye contact with me, first sign. When I picked Lucy up I couldn't believe what I saw. The line on her retractable leash was cut with the clip still in her little pink coat, which also had a hole in it which looked like a scissor cut. When I asked the lady what happened her response was "does she chew?" NO lucy doesn't "chew". She handed me the other end of the broken leash (after looking for it in the back) with no appologies. My husband lead me out of the place because he knew there was about to be fur flying of the human kind. When we got home after closer inspection, this is probably the worse hair cut I've ever seen, ears are uneven, butt is uneven, dog hair everywhere. I hate to think of what Lucy can't tell me that went on. I've apologized to her for days now.
