Are you kidding me??!! This place makes me want to throw out my designer denin and rock that polyester baby!!

1880-1980 exclusively!!

Helpful staff and helpful note cards tell you exactly what era and style you are looking at and need. You can go right to the 70's disco or the 80's retro wear and try it on. I picked out a few must haves for an upcoming party and was sooo happy with my finds. Why did I never look in my grandpas closet because now I want those western shirts with the sparkly snaps and popped collars!

You need accesories? Just mention what type of era you are trying to outfit and the amazing helpful folks are full of suggestions! You just wait! I'm coming back here fo sho!!

The selection here is AMAZING.  It is just too bad the less-than-gentleman behind the counter was so snobby, insensitive, inconsiderate, and unhelpful.

My soon-to-be-wife and I both found perfect outfits for our wedding but we walked out after three (3!!!) condescending and rude interactions with the same clerk.  Not only did they lose out on the few hundred bucks we were going to spend but they also lost out on any positive publicity/referals we might give.
I can only hope that them reading this review might inspire some customer service and human courtesy.

This store is awesome. Everything is vintage and moderately priced. From handbags to vintage hats, this place has it all. Especially if you are looking for a costume. We found a old school cummberbund and bow tie to go with our couples themed costume for Halloween. We also picked out our "wedding bands" from the selection of jewlery that they had. The owner was very nice and mentioned she was keeping the store open late since people were scurrying for last minute costumes. Moderately priced for great vintage items. The store is neatly organized and is a thrilled to browse.

briefly met cecily and her minion at the vintage clothing show in L.A. today. The prices were way over priced, especially for an item that was not in mint condition. There seem to be good reviews, but I tend to agree with the bad ones. She seemed like a psycho.

Church hats

Vintage jewelry

Stylish purses

Wedding dresses

Prairie doll skirts

Leather cowboy boots

Glistening belt buckles

Beatnik shirts

And more.

So much more.

Decades of Fashion is not the cheapest stop in the Haight for vintage and thrift, and I have yet to personally purchase anything from here.

But - they know their vintage.

In their fairly tiny store - the owners have amassed a colorful collage of spectacular pieces spanning all eras.

They take great pride in their collection, and it shows - on their face - and in their careful organization of it; one of a kind gems which hang in the store - each bearing their own story. Their own past. Their own decade of fashion.

Decades of Fashion is one store that I never fail to visit when I'm in town from New York.  From the outside, it seems small, but when you walk in - it's like exploring your crazy aunt's vast attic of treasures - full of all kinds of hats, purses, theater costumes and fun dress-up clothes.  This is a great place to put together a period costume or just to find some unique clothes & accessories for your wardrobe.

The staff is very, very knowledgeable and helpful without being pushy.  My favorite is Jason (a dark haired gentleman with a beard and glasses).  His knowledge of vintage clothing is encyclopedic and he has a great eye for what looks good on people as well as what would complement a certain outfit.  A vintage neophyte? Confused on what to get?  Overwhelmed with the vast selection? Go seek out this man!

There's also a sweet guy there named Dan, who's very helpful and attentive as well.  And I've met the owner once, who I can tell has a passion for what she does.

Items here are priced well - yes, some things are pricey but those are usually designer or very old & rare.  Some of these items have been lovingly restored to look like new - and such restoration is costly.  At the same time, you can find many things here that are under a $100 and completely fabulous.  You just have to look!  And in a store this full of fun things, that's not hard to do.

Highly recommended!

Soooo many beautiful pieces here! You know how a lot of those "vintage/consignment" stores sell some clothes that carry the smell too? Well luckily this store doesn't.

Been shopping for some vintage items, and Decades carries authentic ones, things that your grandparents' parents would have in their closet. I think I saw some Little House on the Prairie type clothing too. Don't expect things to be cheap just because they're out-dated. I found a Jackie O hat that complemented tons of my coats, but this hat ran for at least $50.

This is perfect for people who are shopping for costume or vintage themed parties, but not for those individuals looking for a one-time thing. I see the clothes here as an investment rather than just something you toss and hope to never see again.

I found a 1930's gangster-type suitcase that I know my father dear would love to have

Superb customer service reigns here as well as a very knowledgeable staff. Looking for a 20's outfit? Just let them know. In need of accessories? They'll throw on things for you! Shoes and bags? Got you covered for sure.

If I'm ever looking for a vintage item, this store will be my first visit.

Love the hats on the wall to the left as you enter.  There are racks and racks of clothes and some really attractive ones on the walls.  Lots of colors, styles...

What really caught our attention was the man behind the counter, who was painstakingly repairing a feather fan - his focus and attention were admirable.  If they take care of a fan with that much care, you know they must take care of all of their items with the same attention and details.

I love the husband and wife that own this store. Anyone that listens to my stories and offers suggestions on improving my vintage collection is Boss in my book.

My first purchase was a purple butterfly brooch by a famous jewelery designer from the 1940's.  After checking a collector's encyclopedia I knew I had a find.

My next purchase was a long black velvet cape with a hood, that was made by I.Magnin, an old school famous department store in San Francisco back in the day.

I am so ready for Halloween. I am going to imitate one of the legendary Black Caped Marauders aka Satanists that terrorized the Haight. Boo.

The wife tells me she has a collection of vintage S&M wear and other freaky styles that would fit my body perfectly. I am into photography, so she said she would lend me the outfits when I need them. How cool is that?

In the 1950's thru to the 60's clothing was sized and cut more realistically. There was no such thing as a size Zero.

I have a classic shape and measurements. Hour Glass! The same size as Norma Jean.  I love the personal service. I'll be back.

during my childhood...
i never climbed a tree.
i never learned how to ride a bike.
instead, i was creating new outfits for barbie, attempting to create new perfumes, composing songs, and altering my grade school gym uniform.  - - sweatpants were a bore, i thought.

it's a shame that i didn't have places like Decades of Fashion at my disposal.  it would've been dress-up heaven!  it is the land of all that is vintage, w/unique items that i've never seen before.

Decades of Fashion is certainly one of those places where it is critical that my blinders are affixed securely, for fear that i purchase the entire women's collection.  i managed to restrain myself last time i was here, and happily purchased a 50's wedding style hat, whose dainty, satin flowers w/a short, demure veil will surely turn heads.

eyes averted, i rejected the longing looks from
the lace.
  the high neck blouses.
     the feathers...

the gentleman, jake, i think his name was, didn't pressure me into buying anything other than what my blinders allowed me to see.  at the cash register, a black, 80's hat w/feathers caught my eye, but i ultimately decided to pass, due to the $100 price tag.

...my elbows have been without scrapes, and my knees without bruises.
learning to ride a bike is still possible,
but...
...vintage hats are a lot more fun to shop for than bike helmets.
:)

We had a party coming up that was 50s/beatnik themed.  I turned to Jason and asked him for suggestions.  I could see the gears turning in his head and he jumped over to a rack of pants, pulled out a pair of pants that fit me perfectly, straight out of the 50s.  Then he reached over to another rack, pulled out the perfect shirt to match.  It wasn't long before he found a jacket that matched up as well.  "What size shoes do you wear he asked?"  Seconds later, he was back in front of me with a pair of perfect shoes.

Then it was time to find an outfit for the girlfriend.  He looked at her and then starting rifling through the dresses on the rack, pulling out ones that she never would have considered to try on, but amazingly they fit perfectly and looked great.  We watched his excitement as he kept coming back to the dressing room with different pieces to add to our outfits.  He truly knew what he was doing and had an eye for this stuff.

Vintage clothes aren't cheap, but it was definitely cheaper than the place across the street, plus Jason's expertise and enthusiasm made it so much more enjoyable to shop there.

If we could give a big fat zero star we would.  And such a shame too - because the selection of vintage at this store is really special not to mention that the prices are reasonable compared to some stores here in the city.

Zero stars for HORRIFIC customer service.  We went to Ciceily for our wedding gear, full vintage tuxedo for my man (who looks hot hot hot), and three dresses for my bridesmaids.

Where to begin... we bought the full ensemble for the tux and paid for full alterations (to be done by Ciceily).  We are now three months down the road, three weeks away from the wedding and the tux is STILL NOT READY!! $700.00+ and Ciceily has come up with excuse after excuse as to why she has not gotten to the alterations.  She promised to have the tux dry cleaned and pressed for us.  We received the tux today 8 weeks late - uncleaned, unpressed, and stained.  SUPER FRUSTRATING.  And really disappointing.

So now for the girls... when my friends showed up - Ciceily said "Oh goody!  You're all nice smaller sizes!"  I get that she wouldn't want the dresses being busted at the seems - but you don't really let your "inside voice" actually say that to potential customers!  She also convinced one of my friends to buy an ivory dress - knowing that our colors are sage green as 5 of us had been in trying on and buying green dresses a few days before.

Although my girlfriend has been able to work out a deal with Ciceily for returning her ill-bought ivory dress - she is still being charged for alterations.  Ciceily cut off the hem of the dress before she had even paid it.  And my girl still has not received the credit that Ciceily said she would give her a month later.

She has gone back to the store 3 times, and called maybe a dozen and has received no phone call back.

The sign on the store says they open at 11ish.  The last time my friend went by, the store assistant was waiting outside at 11:45 waiting for Ciceily to arrive.

Great clothes... HORRIBLE AWFULL TERRIBLE REALLY REALLY BAD SERVICE.  Patrons beware.  Buy the clothes - and leave.  Do not risk alteration fiasco's with the owners.

I have very, very mixed feelings about this place.

Every time I walk into this store, I want to buy every damn thing in it.  It's not like at other vintage shops where maybe you'll find one or two things to try on, neither of which looks good or flatters.  Everything in this store is awesome and amazing, and the prices are rather reasonable.

So of course I bought about 3 pairs of shoes from there, one 70's stacked heel, one pair of high (but tasteful and not at all stripper-esque) Lucite shoes, and some awesome flat boots with a fringe-ish thing on the toe and buckskin (buckskin!) laces.

Much to my dismay, the first two shoes broke within the first three times I wore them out.  And, fair enough, they're vintage, as in OLD.

But they looked like they had been put together with superglue, so that they looked good enough to buy, but not good enough to last.

I felt so sad.  So sad. And betrayed.

Additionally, my boyfriend had an ominous little anecdote to add... He works nearby on Haight Street, and he told me that the week decades was moving into the space and was setting up, they enlisted some help from a couple of homeless dudes living on the street.  After the work was done, the proprietor refused to pay them, then yelled at them in front of the store and threatened to call the cops if they complained any further.

Come on, taking advantage of homeless people and gluing your shoes?

Such a shame.  Such a shame.

Quite possibly the most well-rounded vintage store in the city, along with La Rosa and Schauplatz. The owner Cicily is a wonderfully sweet woman. Once at a vintage fashion expo she let my wife take the shoes she wanted home without paying because we were short on cash and they weren't running credit cards at the show. We later dropped by to pay her.

The selection of women's clothing is fantastic. Dresses and shoes and hats from every decade, beautiful lucite purses and other accessories.  And the men's section is well stocked with suits, shirts, pants, and funky shoes.

One note - please stop playing the blues. It makes me think I'm back in Texas again. And that's not a good feeling.

i found it a little pricey.  yeah, ok, it's vintage, sure, i got that part... but there is no reason a plain ol' slip needs to cost $30.  at least i don't believe so.

their selection though... is pretty astonishing.  really, really beautiful pieces.  the clerk was really helpful and helped me find what i needed.  he said they were opening up a high-end vintage couture shop in the near future and were going to make the back room of the haight store all about edwardian pieces and such.  HOLY COW.  i was like "welp... looks like i'll be coming back and spending even more money in the future."  his answer:  "we sure do look forward to that." (sly grin).

definitely go and feast your eyes, but i encourage you to look at price tags before deciding you MUST have it.

I was genuinely impressed by the customer service at this store. I described exactly what I wanted, and the gentleman let me know where to look while simultaneously warning me that he probably wouldn't have the exact item. (He was right, of course!) However, the wares available were just incredible. I could have picked up a WWI pith helmet, a vintage 20s gown and fur, as well as 40s era shoes. It was like walking into a treasure trove of vintage clothing. I'll definitely be returning.

Cicely and Michael display an impressive eclectic selection of pristine vintage clothing that is priced well.
If I remember correctly, her father owned a tony Manhattan clothing store for decades and much of the clothing is inventory that was never bought.
She has an incredible collection of wedding dresses in the back, ask for a private showing if you are a serious buyer. She can pull dozens of unique dresses literally from decades of fashion to fit your style at a price well under what you would find at a contemporary wedding dress store. If you don't mind having them pulled out of cardboard boxes, there are a lot of gems here!
But I digress -- the store is full of well priced clothing well displayed, particularly dresses but don't miss the hats and purses. This has nothing to do with old clothes. Just beautiful unique pieces in that fabulous array that is fashion over time.

ABSOLUTELY HORRIFIC RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE!
(Yelp, please offer negative star ratings!)

I was looking to try on a garment and Cicely offensively stated out loud "Do you REALLY think that's going to fit YOU?!"

Yes, thank you Cicely for your ever-so-stark self-confidence-shattering reminder. I know I'm not your average skinny person but if you think something will not fit, then PLEASE have the common courtesy to at least be polite when you tell the customer directly. Even if you were to  indirectly suggest something else, I would not have been so offended and would have been a million times better than your snooty attitude.

I don't care how wonderful Millesime perceives their clothes to be, but if the owners show the kind of rude behavior I unfortunately encountered, it is certainly NOT in my best interest to spend even a penny towards their wretched well-being.

How they manage to stay in business, I have no clue!! Just read some of the other reviews! Apparently, Cicely needs to pick up on some polite behaviors and learn how to shut her "inner voice" before she racks up a good amount of angry customers.

(Tatiana's review gives me pause, even though I haven't had any bad experiences here.) I've found so many incredible pristine condition shoes from the 50s-70s here, that I almost hate to wear them and spoil so many decades of mint condition. Nevertheless, wear them and wear them out I will.

I'm also excited about a hand-embroidered silk 50s shirt I picked up this weekend, even though I had to give it some TLC at home to remove a little ink stain off the buttons. Had that stain not come off, I might have felt a little dumb for the splurge.

It was funny to hear the comments of moms and daughters coming in here-from the awed,  "Think of the stories these clothes could tell," to the odd, "It smells old." In my experience, though, the fabrics here don't have that musty, stuck-in-the-trunk scent they do elsewhere.

If you're serious about vintage clothes, this is a must-stop in S.F.

I have to say that this store has quite possibly the most consistently rude staff and poor customer service that I have experienced. I've been there to look for vintage western wear and other 50's attire and have not been impressed with the selection or the price for clothing in this category. I've also recently attempted to sell some clothing for cash or trade. First time I went on a weekend - the store was almost empty - and the tall thin gentleman told me coldly that they only "do that during the week" with no explanation. Certainly couldn't have been because he was too busy, as he was just standing around. I returned during the week, and was turned away by the same gentleman and another lady who told me to come back when Cicely is there and that they really only want items pre-1920. He then looked down at the bag I had carried in, turned his nose up, and walked away.
Not sure why so much attitude in this store, especially in an economy like this! I'm pretty sure I won't give them my business again. I'll go across the street to La Rosa where I find better quality items and excellent customer service! :)

You know how you walk into some vintage stores and you see the dresses from the 50's and though they are 50's, they are totally hideous? Decades of Fashion is not like that.  These are the kind of dresses that were in the movies on AMC--glamorous, chic, and classic.

Despite the fact that when I was there, I was looking for something a little more budget-y, I am in love with this store. Should you ever need anything gorgeous and authentic and not of this era, go here.

I wandered in this weekend praying to find the vintage dressing gown I dream of.  Is it really this hard to find a damn robe that isn't terry cloth?!
I ran into a friend looking at a sexy snakeskin bag (which matches a pair of my shoes perfectly. . . hmm. . . ), and then realized the enormous display of alligator skin pumps.  I had a gorgeous pair of faux alligator four inchers that I wore the heels right off of.  I've had them for years and have had them fixed so many times; in fact, the last time I tried to resuscitate them, my shoe guy fixed them for free since he was convinced I wouldn't even manage one solid wear out of them.  The infinite sadness has been close to debilitating.  So to see racks and racks of vintagey goodness - well, I think I see rainbows, and I know I saw a puppy.  Yes, alligators had to die, but it was many many years ago and I had nothing to do with it.  In fact, this is actually in homage and respect to those alligators that had to die.  I'm helping to make it all worth it, yes?  In any case I saw a pair (or twelve )I wanted, but I'm scared.  $90 is reasonable for a pair of gorgeous, actual alligator pumps, but they're vintage.  Will they fall apart on me when I wear them?!  And where is my dressing gown?!
Guess I'll just have to keep coming back, again and again.

The selection at this store is EXCELLENT. The prices are entirely reasonable. I spent hours here, totally forgetting about every other store on this street. My friends and I all left with incredible finds, thanks to the ultra-attentive, knowledgeable sales people. If you need a hat from ANY year starting at the beginning of time to about 1970, this is the most magical place in the world. If you let the owners know what you are interested in, they will pull out anything and everything you might like, with no pressure to buy it. Another serious plus: this is the most organized vintage store I have ever set foot in, particularly for the amount of inventory they have. Absolutely wonderful.

"Vintage" is an understatement for this place.  "Era" was the word that drew me to this hole in the wall on Haight.  I was greeted by some 1930's Chicago Blues number, and a very dapper gentleman.  The place was still unpacking; nonetheless, it gave me the thrilling feeling of prospect, knowing you're gonna find something very good.  The entire store spans from the 20's on up (even earlier though) and the selection is superlative.  Even though the store  is still in upload mode, meeting Miss Cicily (owner) & experiencing her depth of knowledge of the pieces lets you know what the store is going to look like.  Already standing is a designed display of alligator shoes and accessories.  Some of these pieces have NEVER been worn.  There's an immpressive array of hats (men and women), all from Panama to Cocktail hats can be found.  Miss Cicily also takes the time to tell you a little about each item in that treasure cave.  The jewelry selection is rivetting and mesmorizing, with turquoise, jewel broaches, onyx medallions, pearl bracelets, belt buckles, etc adorning the front displays.  Everything in this shop is OLD and is such immaculate condition.  If not, Miss Cicily fixes it for you on the spot!  I spent $1000.00 in this store alone, purchasing pieces like 1930's Sailor Hat (can be seen in Mary Poppins), 1940's wool blazer with hinted gold threading, and a 1960's pop leather pumps for my sister.  The variety here is one of a kind and the spirit is oh, so classy and old.

I can't believe my brother beat me to reviewing this place.  I was actually just playing Miss Tourguide and drove him around the Haight neighborhood.  I almost wanted to run over this couple who decided to slow down to stop and point at things while crossing the street.  It was by serendipity that he just locked in on Millesime, so i droped him off the curbside and did the usual loops around the neighborhood to find parking.  I am so glad I went to the store to fetch him.  There, I saw AMAZING finds of vintage leather shoes of impressive quality---many of which have never been worn.  As y'all know about my shoe-whorin' activities, and I must say this could be one of my favorite real-life corners to hunt for beautiful, one-of-a-kind shoes.  I ended up buying 3 pairs (actually 2, since my bro treated me for a third).  I also purchased some gorgeous vintage clip-on earrings for a great deal, a 1940's black pouf hat, and an immaculate green wool coat that is so Jackie-O.  I almost didn't want to reveal this gem of a store so I can hoard all their good stuff, but there are loads of treasures that Cicely and Mike are continuing to haul in.  I'm sure there'll be plenty for everyone.  (And this place doesn't smell all nasty/moldy... she steam cleans everything and even offers to fix some items).  I look forward to my next treasure hunt at this place!

I give this place only 2 stars partly b/c every time I go there, I don't find the things that I want/need/can afford.  It is very pricey, and the customer service is usually horrible.  In fact, I called to ask for something, and they didn't have it, and as I was about to ask where else might carry it, she said, "I'm sorry I have tons of customers here" and hung up on me before I could say anything.  That's not the first time I've felt like they didn't treat me with respect.  I have to remember not to ever go back again!

I was the first employee here, worked my BUTT off to help Cecily Ann open her precious store. The woman is completely INSANE......there are too many stories to tell you yelpers of her complete mental disturbance. She berades, screams, breaks down crying, fakes injuries, insults, breaks down crying, and so many many more antics. I am the easiest person in the universe to get along with,  and literally will do anything a boss asks of me, but when a man outside harassed me on my break, after months of working there, and started taking photos of me on his phone, i called the police. Upon hearing this news, psycho cecily ann, screamed at the top of her lungs at me, like i was a two year old, and told me I should get over it, because she was raped and thrown in a ditch in her twenties, and she never called the police...it was bad publicity for the store. Thats right, because I forgot we weren't on HAIGHT street, where cops sit around all day. One of the worst experiences of my life.....please don't shop here, she is evil.
