I have a picture of my sister and a couple friends in front of the lake, and it looks like a cool movie back drop.. totally pristine and perfect.. and the staff were cool with a bunch of people having a good time
wink wink
nudge nudge
the have really good little bits of food
like a chocolate merlot sauce...
i always end up buying the port (which is great but WAY sweet) and then it sits in my kitchen for about two years ...
they have a huge lot, giant pic nic area and the staff is uber friendly
the wine is tasty and hard to find in stores so stock up

We loved Deaver. The tasting room had a great vibe and the gentleman working the bar had great stories to tell us. On top of that, we thought the wines were all pretty darn good, although we preferred the reds to the whites. While they're not as economical than at some wineries we visited, they were still affordable at the $20-30 range. We bought a "Henry's House" Zinfandel and a Deaver 2006 Barbara, which was excellent. This was one place where the tasting experience was worth the price of a bottle or two, and generated good memories. Plus, it's fun to get something really good that you wouldn't be able to find at the store around the corner from you... or maybe any store in your city. Recommended!
This was my 1st trip wine tasting in the Amador Valley. We rented a limo and Deaver Vineyward was one of our stops. Our pourer was extremely helpful and maintained a friendly attifutde throughout our tasting. Per our limo driver "Jim" he said don't taste the port until after lunch. We had a picnic on the lake at Deaver. Very pretty lawn area over looking a lake, with a St.. Bernard mix grazing the grounds. After lunch we went back to taste the port. I ended up purchasing the Orange Muscat which they paired with a Mandarin pumpkin marmalade and cream cheese on top of a ginger snap. It was so delcious I bought the marmalade too.
Very casual vineyard out in Amador County...some decent selections at very reasonable prices. The guy who was pouring our wine tastings was really knowledgeable and didn't make me feel silly as a first time wine taster. I recommend their orange muscat - a light wine that goes well with lighter fare like fish and vegetables. This is a lot smaller and no-frils than a few other vineyards we visited during the day...watch out for yellowjackets...but stop by if you're in the area, for sure!
