I had my wedding ring made by Larry at Dean's Designs.
I had gone to several other places, but didn't find what I wanted. What makes Dean's different is that the designs are actually "Dean's Designs" they make almost all the items in the store. My friend urged me to go to Dean's. I had previously walked right by the store in Los Altos, but had never gone in.
So I sketched out exactly what I wanted and brought in several pictures (ads) of things close to what I wanted, and in one week he had selected the diamonds and made the first mold of the ring for my approval. It was in wax, so I was a bit unsure, but when I got the ring, I was almost crying at how beautiful it was (and is) but that it is exactly what I had hoped for....and more.
I have since purchased a college graduation necklace for my step daughter and larry matched her hair color (with a gold topaz) and blue aquamarines to her eyes and when she opened the box, she knew it had really been made for her and was one of a kind.
Larry is a great listener and artist and also a good business man. He's also a Giants fan! What more could you ask for?
By making their own items, Dean's skips the middle ground of most jewelers who buy from a wholesaler and are simply re-sellers. The cost of my ring was about 15% less than anything similar I had seen, and the quality of the stones was superior.

Sorry to contradict the others, but I have been very unhappy with their service. Apparently you have to spend a lot of money there to be treated like a valued customer. I buy way too much jewelry and they have no idea how much repeat business they might have gotten from me. But just because my first order with them was an inexpensive but VERY IMPORTANT sentimental item for a dear friend, they have treated me like an unwelcome annoyance. I mean, who do I think I am, expecting them to honor their deadlines and get the order right, when I'm only spending a few hundred dollars!?!?!
Larry may be a nice man but the cranky old biddy at the front counter who thinks she's the queen of england is probably responsible for this crappy review.

I took my ring to be cleaned and they noticed my diamond was loose and need to be fixed.
They did a Wonderful job!
My ring looks better than before when it was new. The staff is very friendly and experienced. I would hightly recommed them.
A tiny jewelry store on Main Street in downtown Los Altos. My dad has custom designed and purchased most of my mom's jewelry at this store. I go once in a while to get my (VERY VERY) few pieces of jewelry cleaned and maintained.
This isn't Cartier but I guarantee that the work done here is of high quality and Larry and his team are reliable and trusted.
