1 review for Dean Park
Dean Park is a fun place for folks and kids of all ages.
Located on Main street in shrewbury, between 140 and route 20 there are plenty of activities to partake in.
There's a corner of the pond where turtles congregate which, for me, brings back memories of the Yertle the Turtle, Dr. Seuss story. I had the whole poem memorized at one point - its a great story and one to pass on to future generations ... but about the park ...
The turtles are all happy as turtles can be ... the geese occasionally start a nest near the turtle corner that typically floods out during the high season. When will they learn ...
They have a great tennis wall for the solitary player, plus 4 courts for those with friends. You'll note from my profile that I currently have no friends but mean to change all that some day ... You COULD get bumped from a court by a permit weilding TENNIS FREAK - so just be aware that it does happen.
The local baseball teams use up all of the fields and have a great time doing it.
There's also a basketball court or three and a little tykes playground.
Walkers can take the scenic route around the park several times and hardly tire of it.
Lunch time'ish (read the sign, it says the hours) they have a water and music display where you turn your radio to the station and you hear the music and the fountains are in harmony with the tune. It can be romantic for a lunch date.
One lewd guy was here once, near the little tykes playground, but I haven't seen him since he ran away when I opened my car door with the intention of backing (replacing backing with your own verb for fun) him down with my cane :-)
There are LOTS of parents and kids here and when the games are played they have concessions at, you guessed it, the concession stand. There are also restrooms that I wouldn't go into alone, for no reason other than healthy caution.
