This is a great Ethiopian restaurant that sadly has no street frontage. You'll see the sandwich board on the sidewalk--but you have to walk inside to check out the restaurant. It's in the Columbia City Cinema building.

The space is enormous--and it looks as though it turns into a club late at night (that is, we saw some audio equipment and a screen). We were the only ones there for dinner on a Wednesday night--although there were several people in the bar. But it still felt too empty.

Thankfully, the food was really good. We ordered the DeAfric combo plate (which has meat and veggies) and the vegetarian combo plate. There was some overlap in the food--but it was delicious. Each combo plate serves 2 very hungry people.

Oddly, even though we were the only ones there, the service was a bit slow. But we weren't in any hurry, so we forgave the slow service. Check them out if you're in the neighborhood. And if you want to bring a large group of people, you'll have no problem seating everyone.

I love unique ethnic foods, one of the family gifts from my In-laws is an annual trip to some kind of different ethnic restaurant each year.  This restaurant popped up a few years ago on our gift list.

A word to the wise, don't blink, you'll miss it!  On the outside you might as well be passing an abandoned storefront.  This is more of a "club" than a restaurant, well that's the way they seem to run it.  I guess this is a hot-spot for the after dinner crowd, since there wasn't anyone there while we were eating.

Food-wise, it was very good, easily 5 stars for the wonderful flavors and portions.  But the weird "service" and lack of ambiance sadly knocks this place down several notches.  "Service" was S-L-O-W, so don't go here if you are planning anything within the next 24hrs, seriously from the time we got our lukewarm water to ordering was about 35 minutes!  Then it was another 30 minutes until the plates started showing up, not the items to eat, just the plates to serve ourselves with!

Portions were a nice size, combo platters had enough on them to serve 3 peeps of normal eating abilities.  2 for the more hefty eaters.  Flavors are deep and exotic, "meat" found, after much searching, on the plates were a bit lacking in the amount served but what little there was, it was tasty.

Although there is a non-smoking policy for eateries in and around Seattle, I guess this place was stuck in the space time continuum where this law was not in effect.  Thankfully we were done with our meal by the time the "bar-flies" lit up.

Been here twice, each time has been quite the adventure, after seeing the restrooms on our last visit I might get my shots updated prior to venturing in, that's if I go back...
