Deacon Timothy Pratt Bed & Breakfast the
2 reviews for Deacon Timothy Pratt Bed & Breakfast the
Really 4 and a half. Dating from 1746, we chose the treetop suite way up on the third floor for the window that spanned the entire room, and the colorful, gossamer-draped four poster that was set at an angle in front of the gas stove. Rain pelted the room all weekend, so the stove was really appreciated.
A lopsided, narrow staircase leads up to this suite, including a kitchenette with coffee maker, wine glasses, etc., the only room without a jacuzzi. No prob, it was very charming. Shower was tiny tho. I peeked into the closets and one was an unfinished room that clearly exposed the wooden pegs instead of nails that keeps this old place together.
More than ample breakfasts of banana fosters french toast, fritters, fruit, etc. There was supposed to be a bottle of wine from a local vineyard, but they substituted something from Argentina.
Let me tell you a story. There once was a girl named Jess who enjoyed her urban lifestyle and Marriott Rewards points. Her 60-something year old coworker, lets call her Lorraine, required that instead of letting Jess be happy, they must stay at an inn. Enter Deacon Timothy Pratt House.
As far as inns go, keep in mind that this was my first experience, I think this one was great. Many of the rooms have jacuzzis. They give a discount for staying during the week. If you have to leave before breakfast will be served they make up a tray for you with fresh fruit salad and muffins.
I believe rooms cost about $130-$160. That is cheaper than the Marriott but I really require the indoor pool and fitness center. So I wasn't that happy but I dealt with it.
Also, this inn has a historic ice cream parlor with soda fountains attached to it. The ice cream parlor also has a little shop that sells stamps (the kind that require ink and make imprints, not the kind you use to mail letters). I bought a stamp here, just for the fun of it.
Wow, this review was all over the place. In conclusion, this inn has jacuzzis, homemade cookies, great breakfast, and an ice cream parlor. Old Saybrook is a really nice town with about 2,000 highly regarded restaurants. Check out the Penny Lane Pub for lunch and the Westbrook Lobster House for dinner.
I'm done.
