If you are a race fan you are going to LOVE this!   If you are kinda a race fan you are going to love this.   If you know nothing about racing you are going to love this!

One of my things that I had to do on my recent Florida trip was see the Daytona International Speedway.   I am a huge NASCAR fan and my favorite driver is Matt Kenseth.  I have had plenty of opportunities to see this 500 Experience before but since Kenseth won the Daytona 500 I HAD to see it this year.

To make a long review short the track tour was amazing!   TV does not do the banking justice and being in victory lane was just  awesome.  After the tour we walked around the exhibits including the winning car of Matt Kenseth, the Richard Petty exhibit was informational and historical, and the simulators were very fun to drive.   One of the highlights of my trip for sure and even my wife, who is not the biggest race fan, thought it was very cool.

Too bad it got rained out after the 153 lap, but for my first race, it was pretty hilarious. Between observing the spectators and the cars whiz by, I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

I'm not a huge racing fan, but I had a fun afternoon here with my in-laws. They have some racing simulators, a car that slowly disassembles itself to reveal what's in it, and even a game where you get to "be the pit crew", changing tires and whatnot.

The tour of the speedway is pretty cool; they drive you right onto the track in little trams, and there's plenty of time to get out and take pictures. It's impressive to see 30 degree banked turns in person, and hear about cars running on hundred-something octane fuel. If you are a race fan, or just want to please one, I'd say this place delivers.

I'm not much of a race car fan but I have been going to Daytona Beach for 20 years or so and have always wondered what was in there.  I only went because I did the Richard Petty Driving Experience at the Daytona International Speedway and the admission to this place was included.  I had someone waiting for me on the outside so I went through it pretty quickly.  Not being a race car fan, it didn't really appeal to me but if you are a fan, it probably would be worth the trip.  They put the winning car of the Daytona 500 in the museum for a year just as it was from the Winners Circle.  The time I was there was the year that Dale Earnhardt Jr had won so I saw his car (ticker tape and all), the trophy and a video playing of him being interviewed in the Winners Circle.  Racing started in Daytona so many years ago so this museum is a staple for any race fan.
