7 reviews for Days Inn-Morro Bay
Just ok. Just needed a place to crash for the night and this was one of the cheapest and walking distance to the water.
I wouldn't go back on purpose.

We were on a trip to drop off my kid at UC Santa Cruz. Stopped at the Days Inn without notice. The total bill for one night was $111.00. Not bad. Room we stayed in didn't have a view, bottom floor, but spacious.
Rooms themselves area a little worn, decor stuck in the early 70's, but we're not at a Marriott, etc. Good deal.
Front desk staff was great, helpful, friendly.
Walked down to dinner near the harbor. Very nice.
Breakfast was - eh. No big deal. Mini-muffins, coffee and some fruit.
I took a group of 14 school district administrators on a 2-day, yearly planning retreat to Morro Bay. The meetings were held at the club house at the golf course; however, due to budget cuts, we needed an economical place to stay that was close by. Days Inn fit the bill, so we stayed there.
Initially, we pretty well got what we expected: older hotel; mattresses that swayed inwards; and a clean, albeit 1-star-like hotel. We had some major problems however, when we tried to check out. Since we had to be at our meeting at 7:30 a.m., we needed to check out fairly early. I proceeded to go to the office to check out since I needed a receipt. When I tried to open the door, it appeared to be stuck or locked. I tried again and then looked at the man and woman who were inside. The man, who was running around in his pajama bottoms, screamed that they did not open until 7:30 a.m. He told me , in a nasty tone of voice, that if I absolutely must see someone, go to the night window.
Later that day, I heard that others had similar experiences. One was told that she couldn't check out and get a receipt because they were doing an audit. Another was treated rudely because it was before 7:30 a.m. (Note: There was no sign anywhere indicating that one could not enter the premise before 7:30 a.m.) Another was told that he didn't owe anything else; however, we received a phone call later that day that he "left without paying."
Needless to say, this woman and man lost any chance of having repeat customers from at least 14 well-behaved customers who stayed during the week (one of their off-peak times.) Since we liked the golf clubhouse meeting room so much, we will probably come back again for our yearly planning retreat. We will definitely look for another hotel to stay at.

I booked a last minute get away. This place was clean, quiet, conviently located to the hot spots. A few blocks to the little shops and Morro Bay.
Grocery stores and all -less than a mile away! Cheap food and snacks!
Fun place for a weekend get away.
Staff at the hotel was nice and helpful. Housekeeping so courteous and friendly. No bugs! Room smells nice and clean. Not a five star! But I would definetly stay here again!
The woman at check-in was not hospitable as she should have been. I saw her roll her eyes at me!
She also couldn't give us any towels at 7:30 in the morning because, "Housekeeping doesn't open until 9." What the hell? I know she had some keys somewhere.
We needed towels because the "crappy" toilet overflowed. It couldn't handle one grown man's shit.
Thankfully half the party had bathed the night before, but us others had to use whatever scrap of absorbent material we had to aid in our bathing.
It was a nice little stroll to the downtown strip though.
seriously the worse hotel/motel i've ever stayed at! the place was so dirty and old, i could just smell old cigarette smoke wafting from the furniture. worse yet, our toilet overflowed. housekeeping came by an hour later and handed us a plunger and left. they didn't come in to take a look at the problem or clean up the water on the floor. they advertise "breakfast" which was stale pastries. front desk was rude. overall, unpleasant experience and i'll never go back.
Here's the lo-down --
The good:
* The motel honored my request to have a non-smoking room on the 2nd floor, facing the bay. From my room is a view of the bay and Morro rock.
* Room is clean
* Bed is relatively comfy (for a motel!). I liked the pillows.
* Location is close to Morro Bay downtown/bay-front.
* Nice view from the hotel room
The bad:
* Motel advertises free wireless internet. They've got a wireless router alright, it just isn't connected to the internet!
* 3 of the 4 lights in the bedroom were out. Can you believe that? The two lights by the beds and the light on the dresser all wouldn't turn on. I looked all around for a light switch of some sort, nothing. The one stand lamp by the table turned on though so at least I was not completely in the dark when I returned to my mote room at around 11:30 p.m. Not a good time to be alone in a strange motel room.
* The next morning, when I told the lady at the front desk nicely about the lights that were out, she didn't know how to respond. She just smiled and said OK. I guess can't expect much out of a Days Inn, eh?
* If you want a nice morning sleep, don't come here! Starting at around 7 a.m., doors started banging, and then lots of people talking. The thin insulation didn't help either.
* If you want to wake up on time, don't come here either. Since I got woken up at 7 a.m., I called the front desk to have them give me a morning call at 10 a.m. so I could wake up/pack/check out in time. I laid restless in bed listening to all the hustling and bustling, then I started to wonder why I hadn't gotten the morning call yet... was time really passing so slowly? I took off my eye mask (it was bright) and looked over - and it was 10:37 a.m.! I called the front desk and asked them what happened to my morning call and the girl said that she did set it. What good is it if it didn't work? Does anything at this motel work? At least they let me check out late though.
Overall, the whole experience sure was not worth $130+/night I paid.
