3 reviews for Days Inn Hollywood Studio City
So my gf & I decided to go ona wkend trip to socal & use our universal studio tickets that we got earlier in the year. We couldn't decide where we wanted to stay because of hotel pricing & spending money on our recent vaca to Hawai'i. After stepping into our room w a gust smell of smoke ina nonsmoking room & mold in the shower which looked like ur local hs locker room shower we were reminded that we are spoiled when it comes to hotels. Now take it that we did spend $175 for 2 nights which would be a 1 night stay @ the Sheraton or Hilton right next to universal. So that was the plus of staying @ the Days Inn & u do pay what u get for.
Not being able to stand the smell of smoke I walk downstairs & complain. Asking to change rooms & what the cancellation policy is. Highly debating on checking into the Hilton or Sheraton. He couldn't change rooms that night but offered to the next morning. I was pleased that he at least tried. 10mins after talking to him & getting some airfreshner from the maid I geta phone call saying he has a room & to check it out. Thank god the next room was smoke free & a lil better looking in the bathroom. (FYI bring ur own towels, blankets, pillows, & maybe water shoes for the shower. Not ur typical tub/shower combo)
We decided to stick it out & make the most of the weekend. So if u want sumwhere cheap & spacious this is a great buy, if not I'd highly recommend staying elsewhere. For crying out loud we even put the remote ina plastic bag cus we didn't wana touch it. Lol.
While we prefer to stay away from budget hotel chains, we decided to give this Days Inn a try since we had a great experience with Days Inn on Sunset Blvd during our previous trip.
This place reminded us of why we stay away from these types of places. What a difference a few miles makes...
To start of, the service was bad. When we made our reservations, we had requested two rooms next to each other. At check-in, the person at the counter said they weren't next to each other, but were close, which was a lie since the rooms were on opposite ends of the building.
It was December so we actually needed the heater to work, which it didn't in one of the rooms. We ended up having to get a portable heater brought in. The funny thing is that the portable heater was stronger than the heating unit in the other room. Aside from the heating problems, the rooms were big and relatively clean. The walls were pretty thin as we could hear the TV from the next room while trying to go to sleep.
Parking also sucked, since it became one way when it was full because of cars blocking the driveway.

The afternoon started with me calling every Yelped hotel in the area, followed be me calling around after Google mapping the neighborhood. All came in at $150 plus, except...
Days Inn was by far the best value in the area. At $100 bucks (with tax) the room was clean, quite, and very comfortable (squishy pillows and comfy comforter).
Pluses: It is flanked on both sides by Sushi restaurants, as well as a mixed myriad of other eateries.
Minuses: No real pubs in the area, except the bar at the Sportsman's Lodge - another hotel about 100yds down the street. Not a problem for the non-drinker, antisocial, homebody types.
