I stayed here for one night, and it was totally acceptable. I came for my Hornblower dinner cruise, and it was great because this hotel was a block away. I got the "deluxe" room, which was great because it had a little sitting area and coffee table, fridge and microwave. I had a tiny gathering pre cruise (despite huge signs in lobby stating no parties allowed) I knew it wouldn't be an issue because it was only about 9 of us having wine and cheese for a few hours. The room was perfect for that type of activity. I did have a small view of the harbor, which was nice. The train is very loud was stops at night, but if you want to sleep in...wear ear plugs. Everything was clean and stocked and besides a few blown light bulbs, there were no issues. I didn't bother with breakfast, but saw that it was just as basic as everyone has described. there are so many excellent places to eat down there that i don't know why anyone would bother eating that anyhow.

4 and 5 stars? I'm thinking some reviewers may have stayed elsewhere...
Noisy and run-down are the first words that come to mind when I think about our stay here. People yelling through the paper-thin floor boards in the room above us, noise from the freeway, noise from the trains, noise from the ships, and noise from the parking lot and main road pretty much guarantee you will not be sleeping. The elevator to the floors above barely fits 2 people- and the door takes at least a minute to open. My poor mom tried to squeeze in with my dad and I to ride up and as she walked in to the elevator the door closed on her- and didn't open again! She was stuck in the frame for a minute while we tried to get the door to open.
Although you can walk to little Italy from here, and the location is close to the airport, definitely throw down a bit more money to stay someplace nicer. -

WORST, WORST, WORST. I knew my long range travel plans, wanted a smoking room near the harbor, so I made my reservation for Oct. 2011 in Dec., 2010. I called the week of the trip to confirm. "All is well" I was told. Well, sometime in the almost a year from the reservation, my credit cards expired as they do every 3 or 4 years. The CC co. automatically issued another which I activated and used. HOWEVER when the Days Inn ran my card, they noticed the expiry date, and cancelled my reservation. C'mon-like I called you 4 days ago to confirm-you didn't think I was coming. No call, no email, nothing-I got there and was told they'd given away my room. Mgmt. here is a bunch of morons.

This hotel should really get four stars, but I had SUCH a good experience here that I had to add a star.
I stayed here one night before I went on a cruise. I was able to park my car here while I was on the cruise and the park & stay deal was excellent. They shuttled our entire group over to the port as part of the deal.
As a hotel goes...well...it's Days Inn. A hotel room. A bathroom. A TV. A pool. Free Wifi.
Here's my great experience. While I was on the cruise, some lunatic ran through the parking lot and broke my windshield and driver's side window. It's not like this is a bad neighborhood, just some random window-breaking freak on the loose and my car and my friends car were the only victims. Apparently the lunatic climbed up on the roof of the hotel with the police chasing him and disappeared into the night completely avoiding arrest.
When we returned from the cruise, the manager met us at the cars and calmed us down (actually kept us from ever getting too excited). She had already gotten prices to replace our windshield (on a Saturday), filed a claim with her insurance company, ordered the work to be done once we gave her the go ahead, and put us up in the hotel another night at no cost to us. She even gave us two extra rooms for friends that were not with us when we originally stayed but were stuck with us because we were driving them home.
That is great service. I will go back. I will recommend it to everyone. -

For the money, I'd hardly call this a deal.... but it was Comic-Con weekend and I think all the hotels double their rates for that week simply because they can.
Still, two large beds, we were on the top floor so we had nice high ceilings, a laptop safe in the room, a fridge, flatscreen TV, very effective air conditioning, and a decent shower. Really, it's all you need from a crash pad when visiting San Diego.
and again, if you're there during Comic-Con weekend, you're going to pay too much no matter where you stay. -

The free wifi never worked more than a few minutes at a time. Its so close to the train station, that you can hear the trains regularly from 6am to 11pm, making it almost impossible to sleep. One night i tried to call the front desk about the wifi, and no one ever answered.

If you like sleep, stay somewhere else - right next to a railroad, you'll hear train horns about every hour all night. Then about 6 AM, a ship's horn blasts.

Overall had a great experience at this hotel. My boyfriend and I went out to San Diego for a three night stay. We wanted to be close to downtown/gaslamp but didn't want to pay the downtown prices so this hotel was exactly what we were looking for price wise. They had a 20% off sale for a stay of three nights or longer so the extra savings were great! Oh and parking is free! A lot of these San Diego hotels charge for nightly parking. Not far at all from the lively gaslamp quarter, we would walk there every evening for dinner. So if you don't mind walking about a mile and half each way this is definitely an economical alternative worth considering. We didn't mind the walking at all and it sure beats trying to find parking in downtown.
As the name of the hotel states you do have a harbor view from the hotel. Overall outdoor appearance of the hotel is good, it's well maintained and has plenty of parking. There is a swimming pool there, a bit on the smaller size but also well maintained and clean. We booked a queen deluxe room which we really enjoyed! The room was clean and updated and spacious. Aside from the queen bed, we had a queen sofa bed with a coffee table that were nice to have since we would stay in for a quick breakfast before heading out. The bed in the sofa never made it out since the bf was on good behavior all weekend (hehe) so can't speak for the quality of the bed but the actual sofa was comfy. =) I loved the fact that the room had a microwave and a mini fridge which had more than enough space. Very practical since we stocked up on a few things for our stay. The LCD TV mounted on the wall was also nice. The rooms are pretty much equipped with all the basics including an ironing board/iron and hair dryer.
Would definitely stay at this hotel again when back in San Diego.
Oh and another thing worth mentioning there is a Jack in the Box with 24 hour drive through just down the street less than a block away as well as a fast food Mexican place. Sure does come in handy for those late night munchies! -

I won't give it 5 stars, because come on, it's a Days Inn. But I will give it four because the front desk clerk was awesome. He gave us a $30 discount because my buddy is a marine, when it really is only supposed to be 10% or so. We ended up paying $100 for the room on a Friday night. It's close to everything, so if you're going to the gaslamp, you can stay here for fairly cheap, compared to some other places.

Good furniture, newer w granite countertops. Flat screen tv. Iron & board great for business clothes. Lots of towels. Old elevator jerked badly. Personnel ok. Not greeting or interested in helping fast but eventually helped.

Sticky carpet, mold in the bathroom, holes in the wall, air conditioner that couldn't cool a closet. Wow, what more can I say. If I could give it no stars I would. Over priced for comic-con of course. Do not say here unless you don't care about cleanliness, money, or hearing the upstairs guests stomp into their room.

Old, and dirty, bugs in bed!! I didn't have the "luxury" of getting the FOE granite shower, but I did get the sink. The walls in the room were stained, the shower pressure was low and would turn from warm to cold every several min. The maid did make the beds but did not change the sheets or pillowcases. As I was ready to get into the bed I saw makeup on the pillowcase and several tiny dead bugs under the comforter! Sorry Days Inn, I will not be back.
