Holy crap! WORST SERVICE EVER! I made an appointment here for my friend on her first day of wedding dress shopping/searching. I figured we might as well check out a David's Bridal, although I was sure she wasn't going to buy a dress here. And I was right!  From the first minute we got there, it was just one bad thing after another. I thought the appointment was at 2:30pm, so we got there on the dot, but apparently our appointment was at 2pm, and the girl who took our name down was sure to tell us that. She said "Well since you're late, we had to put someone else ahead of you." I looked around. It sure WASN'T busy in there, but whatever. We just browsed for a bit while we waited for our attendant.

Lo and behold our attendant was finally ready for us. And wow, was she rude. She showed is to the fitting area and unfortunately for her, I don't think she has discovered the joys of waxing or hair removal because her mustache was the most noticeable thing about her. Then we noticed her pants were torn. Ok maybe I'm being mean about her appearance, but her demeanor just added to that. She brought out the 3 dresses my friend had picked from the catalogue, and proceeded to pull one over my friend's head. Now we all know wedding dresses aren't easy to put on, so it got stuck because it had so many layers right around her shoulders. Without even trying to undo the tangled mess, she yanked the dress of my friend's head and said "Oh that's not going to fit you, let me get a bigger size". It was already a size 12, and my friend is NOT a size 12! She ran and got a 14 and threw it on my friend. Of course it looked like a potato sack on her. She didn't even bother to try and lace it up and said, oh it'll look like that but smaller. WELL DUH!  Anyway after that my friend tried one other dress on and then the attendant asked "which one is your favorite?" The answer was NONE because one was a potato sack and the other was just downright ugly. Anyway we were done in less than half an hour and without saying good bye the attendant took off and left us in the fitting area. I had no idea if she was going to come back or not. We just left and saw her behind the front counter, no doubt grooming her mustache or something. Needless to say, I will never go back. I don't care how cheap it is!

*****Update 5/2/2007*****
I had no choice in the matter, I went back... found a dress... and bought it.

The staff was as unhelpful as my first time, so I helped myself.

I will up my star rating to two for the price. $110 aint bad.

Going here to get a bridesmaid's dress for my little sisters wedding, reminded me why I eloped.

This whole process sucks. Finding...Fitting...Ordering... and when they (the company & it's employees) are uniformed, unorganized and completely useless. It makes the process that much more stressful. They did not have my appointment in the books, the appointment they called me FOUR times to confirm... AND even though I registered the dress I wanted on line 3 weeks before, they had no way of checking their own website!  Really!!! I couldn't make this shit up!

The commercial says...'You'll love David's bridallll"
Guess what?  I DON'T love you! Get organized. Hire anyone with a possible double digit IQ and I'll consider the 'love' thing. Was that harsh? Sorry I'm truly annoyed at them.

I guess this is the first of many wedding-related reviews I'll be writing (it's not me that's getting married... Thank Gawd!  It's my sister).

Unless you're on crack, then you'll enjoy the whole wedding-organizing deal.  The majority of people think it's a real pain in the ass... but do it for whatever reason. (That totally came off as bitchy and cycnical, but really, people think it's a pain in the ass to do, even if they want to do it... anywho...)

When we went to DB we were helped by Keri and she was Awesome.  She gave great suggestions, told it like it was, and was a complete professional... and very sincere

The facility isn't all that, but.... if you can find a dress for $99, do it.  I heard chalk works well to cover stains.

Important disclaimer for my review: Despite growing up in a nice area in "the OC" and being forced to attend cotillion for 6 years, I am not your typical girlie girl. I dress the part, look the part, but I don't *act* the part. Plus, I'm an anthropologist so I tend to over-analyze and rationalize things. So paying over $500 bucks for a wedding dress, even if it was in my budget, just seemed stupid when I could spend it other ways (donating, traveling, etc.).

Spending an exorbitant time fussing over the "right dress" with the perfect alterations also was not high on my to-do list. In fact, when I was planning my wedding I was also applying to graduate school. And now I'm at Stanford so that gives you an idea of what was "important" to me at that point in time. To me, I had already committed to my then fiance and the ceremony was merely a performance for friends and family. See, I'm way too rational. So in all honestly, I can't say that I was all too concerned with David Bridal's customer service back in 2002.

But from what I remember, I had a wonderful experience here...but it was precisely due to my mindset. I went in with an idea of what I wanted, spent 30 minutes going through the racks, and after trying on two dresses, I had my wedding dress in my hands and ready to be altered. I am a simple girl with simple needs - a pretty dress (check out my wedding photo under my profile pics) that fit me well enough to last 15 minutes down the aisle, 2 hours of a wedding reception, and 1 hour of photos. The dress was lovely, comfortable, and very reasonable - exactly $500.

If you want "great" customer service, try other high-end boutiques in Pasadena. Otherwise, when you go to get your dress, please remember that David Bridal's is like the Wal-Mart of wedding boutiques. You get what you pay for! And remember...it's just a freakin' dress!
