There are many wonderful art galleries in Makawao, and David Warren Gallery is one of the most interesting. All the art objects in here are affordable, and would make great gifts or keepsakes for yourself.
There are watercolors, acrylics, ceramics, lots of carved wood items, and handmade jewelry, among other things.
My wife picked out an unususal "silver spoon" bracelet, sculpted from a piece of antique sterling silver flatwear by the artist, Mike Kelly of Oregon.
This shop is definitely worth visiting.

This is a fantastic place to explore on a quiet weekend afternoon. It features art by David Warren and his family as well as a handful of local artists, in just about every medium you could imagine. I picked up a gorgeous carved bone box as well as as beautifully painted box created from a gourd, & I could've gone on and on, there were so many gorgeous items there that just called out to me. The employee there was SO helpful and informative as well; you could tell that she really enjoyed being part of the gallery, and that made the experience that much more enjoyable for us. This is a gem of a store in a gem of a town; I wish I lived on Maui so I could go visit more often!
