Went to Dr. Kim for a consultation and it went well. Dr. Kim himself took pics of my face from different angles and showed me on the computer my before and potential afters. He answered all my questions and was very honest and straight forward with me. No sugar coating which is great. After about spending 15 mins with him, he handed me off to his assistant, Sarah Ann, to explain more on the procedure preparations and the costs.

I was not ready for this procedure, emotionally, so I let her know that I still needed to consider this before I make such a life changing decision. She was persistent and had a date ready for me, if I were ready to set that appointment for the actual surgery. The thought of it scared me a lot! So I put it off and bought Latisse instead. Yep, so instead of setting a date for a $10K facial surgery (which I may regret), I bought a $137 lash serum. I'm sticking to this decision. Sarah Ann was very nice and supportive, and I think she does great work at this office. She's also the office esthetician. She even called me back to follow up with me. So sweet.

I did a few hours of research (like 30 or more hours) on cosmetic surgery and did find that Dr. Kim is one of the best in the city. If and when I am ready, I would definitely go back to him for my procedures.

One might think that the doctor with a bedside manner has all but disappeared from today's medical scene, what with its HMO's de-personalizing doctors by calling them "health-care providers" and burying them--and us--in paperwork. But Dr. Kim is here to remind us that such doctors happily still exist:  whether one goes to him with a minor cyst or a major face job, Dr. Kim takes the time to explain the procedure clearly, directly, personably.  On the day he removed my cyst, he said while pulling those 5 stitches onto my face, "I'm pulling each stitch with affection: be assured there won't be a scar."  And there wasn't. Afterwards, he sent me a hand-written note, thanking me (can you imagine that?)  for choosing him to do the procedure.  I simply cannot praise Dr. Kim enough.

disclaimer:  i am only giving four stars now because it has only been 2 months since i had my rhinoplasty and under chin lipo done and i am still a bit swollen.

dr kim and staff were very knowledgeable and friendly during the consultation and worked with me on some of the options i could do to make subtle, yet significant changes with my problem areas.  a week later, i had my surgery and thus far, i am happy with the results.

i am looking forward to the months ahead to see how it develops.

Dr. Kim did a great job on my nose. Its been broken several times over the years and a previous septoplasty / rhinoplasty was only partially success leaving my breathing improved and my nose less appealing aesthetically than it had been before the surgery. Dr. Kim was able to both correct my breathing, and also improved its apearance. I'm very happy with the results.

The fee for the procedure was high compared to other medical work I've had done in the past, including a variety of surgical procedures, but Dr. Kim's office was willing to negotiate a little. A good credit / payment plan was arranged, but I was surpriesed when I postponed the procedure and then was billed for the full cost even though the procedure hadn't been done yet. There were some additional costs that weren't made quite clear to me initially, but Sarah Ann was persistent in providing explanations and keeping the procedure on track.

This was work I really wanted to have done, so I went through with the procedure even at, for my budget, the high asking price. Because of my previous bad experience didn't want shop around based on price instead of reputation and experience. It is a choice that I am happy with because of the great results.

I had serious problems breathing, especially when exercising, from a nose injury I suffered 8 years prior.

I contacted Dr. Kim through a referral about a week before I needed surgery (since the surgery had a six-week recovery time and I could only do it during the Christmas break due to work obligations).

His staff worked with me tirelessly to get the insurance company to confirm coverage (this process is a nightmare).  His staff was just off-the-charts helpful.

What I needed was basically a complete rebuild of my nose bones, the septum and cartilage.  Cartilage was even grafted from my ear and put in my nose to support the new architecture.  The surgery went perfectly and now I can breathe fine when not exercising.  I still need nose strips when doing extreme exercise (heavy weightlifting, serious cardio, etc.).  However my nose is perfectly fine outside of that.

The best part about it was Dr. Kim's demeanor.  He's patient, friendly, and takes his time to teach you about the structure of the nose, your specific case, what you're options are, etc.

I would definitely recommend Dr. Kim for anyone who needs a similar procedure.

I made a video about my experience here:  http://www.youtube.com...

Dr Kim did the most amazing facial reconstruction for me a couple of years ago when he was at UCSF.

I had been jumped by some tweaker ( who is in prison now ).  I'd been kicked in the face with a steel-toed boot and my  skull was in eight pieces, my upper teeth had all broken off my skull, the roof of my mouth, both orbits of my eyes, and my nose were all broken.  Dr Kim put five titanium plates in my face and lots of little screws and wired my mouth shut.  He put my teeth back straighter than they were before.  Of course it hurt, and having my jaw wired shut for months certainly was uncomfortable, but the incisions he made were so precise  and carefully placed that you can't see them at all today.  I look exactly as I did before the incident.

His office was very helpful and polite, especially Jenna, and his bedside manner was very thoughtful and professional.  He was not the first doctor I visited, but after meeting him I was sure he was the one I wanted.  I don't think I would be enjoying such good results if I'd gone with anyone else.

Dr. Kim is the best!  I had been to several surgeons to have my broken nose repaired and they all wanted to alter it to a Barbie nose.  Gross!  Dr. Kim was kind and really listened to what I wanted done.  He told me right away that I had a beautiful nose and it didn't need to be altered only repaired to it's original beauty.  I healed very quickly and amazingly with no scares whatsoever.  I love my beautiful nose and it looks just like it did before the break.  If ever I need any procedures done I will contact Dr. Kim.  I highly recommend him!

Dr. Kim was the director of the facial plastic and reconstructive surgery division at UCSF until just recently. At UCSF, he fixed my deviated septum, and now I can breath out of each nostril for the first time in... 20+years! He's one of the best around, and throughout the process, I felt supported and well cared for. Within a few weeks of the surgery, I was back to my normal chipper self, and the arnica montana (bought through Dr. Kim's office) definitely helped keep my swelling and bruising to a minimum. Sniff sniff, hooray!

As a senior fellow board certified facial plastic surgeon, I can tell you that Dr Kim is a leader in his field.  He gives many courses at our conventions and is a prolific writer and researcher.  I went to him and he treated me with the utmost attention to detail and skill.  Having trained in this area, I can unequivocally recommend him among the best in his field.  And I must add he is always the quiet spoken caring thoughtful gentleman.
