I've been here a few times.
The lunch is awesome, especially the gourmet salad where you pick a mixed greens or ceasar salad with chicken, steak, slamon, shrimp, etc and then three additional side salads (beets and feta, quinoa, carrot, etc).

They also have great drinks. The service is pretty good. I've been there for restaurant week and regular dinners. Its an over all dependable restaurant. They have a nice wine selection as well. Good for groups, good for a date, good for going out with your girlfriends and just having a good time.

Another of the restaurants that we went to during my sister's graduation weekend.

I was pretty full from the week, but eating is my favorite past time, so I really didn't hold back like I should have.

I had the Moroccan Shrimp Sticks with Harissa Remoulade.  I don't even know what the last half of that even means, but I think it is Farsi for "crazy delicious".

For the main I had the Pulled Pork BBQ sandwich.  It was really tender, and I would have it any time I went there... except for the fact that it was $13.50... That is a ludicrous price for a pulled pork sandwich.  I mean, it was tasty, but over $10 bucks for any sandwich that doesn't include 8 crab cakes or copious amounts of truffle oil is silly.

I went during restaurant week, and while they made us wait 20 mins past our reservation, they gave us top shelf drinks on the house.  Every course that everyone ordered was beyond perfect. I remember have Moroccan shrimp sticks and seared scallops that were both amazing.  The best creme brulee I think I'v ever had.  The ambiance is cool and I would definitely go back.

You know that great feeling when you've eaten a satisfying meal?  You'll get that and more when you eat at David Greggory.  Prices are moderate, ranging from $11 for a gourmet pizza to about $25 for steak or lamb.  They also offer half plates for light eaters for about $15.  For those on a budget however, beware the drinks.  A martini set us back $10, and a microbrew beer set us back another $6.

The food was inexplicably delicious.  Most of the time, I can tell what ingredients go into a dish.  This food was different.  Flavors were pleasant and varied, as were textures.  For starters, we had the pork tacos for an appetizer.  They were served with a cumin spiced crispy pork skin and a crunchy puffed pastry with a peppery mix that left the lips tingling.  The taco itself was also flavorful.  Call my tastebuds strange, but I detected an asian flavor like five spice, mixed with a european flavor like sauerkraut.  (I'm pretty sure it wasn't sauerkraut, but probably some balsamic vinegar mix.  Still, it describes the flavor)  Most importantly, I really loved it.

For dinner, I had the pan-seared scallops, which were cooked perfectly, with dark brown edges on the outside and lightly cooked and juicy on the inside.  The dish was served with a parmesan crisp triangle in the center, and on a bed of risotto and spinach. I did have one reservation about the spinach.  It had a smoky flavor.  It was too smoky.   It was also reminiscent of liquid smoke.  Still, the scallops themselves were so good that I would have to give the dish a high rating.  The risotto, which in most restaurants I would consider to be a failed starch, still retained some bounce to the texture, and was also a plus.

David Greggory looks like a more expensive restaurant and serves food in the style of more expensive restaurants.   If you go light on or skip the cocktails, you could have a great meal for under $30 per person, inclusive of tax and tip.   It's not a bargain bite, but the food is memorable.

I was in town for business.  My colleague and I were super hungry and wanted something closeby.  This was across the street from our hotel and figured why not?!

Great decision.  We decided to go with the 3 course prefixe lunch menu they offered that day which was a steal considering the great and attentive service we received and the delicious food.

My recommendations:

- moraccan shrimp
- jumbo lump crabcake with chipotle sauce ( best, Best, BEST crabcakes I ever had! )

Kudos to their wine list as well....

Good after work spot for cocktails. I like the ambiance but have had mixed experiences with the food (both at lunch and at dinner) as well as the service.

David Greggory helped me host an executive MBA dinner last year and they did a GREAT job. We had to pick two menus (veggie and carnivore is what I chose), but the selections for each menu were great. I think I heard a couple of "that's not so special" about the food, but that was overwhelmingly drowned out by compliments on the food. Staff was courteous, service was prompt. They customized the menus for the event -- very nice touch indeed. Good ambience for the event (we had about 14 people and it was neither crowded nor noisy in our section of the restaurant).

I would definitely do a small event there again.

Incidentally, my wife used to go there for cocktails after work when she had an office in the area -- it was fun, but she did say that occasionally it felt a bit more like a "scene" (wolves at the bar). Is that a good thing or a bad thing? You decide ... but clearly Angela has her own view on that -- if you're wearing a ring, you want to be left alone for sure :)

A restau-lounge not to be missed. Found in the West End, this hip and contemporary space serves good food. I've noshed here during a meeting, but have never had a meal. What I did try (Truffle-scented Pizza, Kyoto Spicy Chicken Wings and Chicken Empanadas) was excellent.

I've planned a Christmas party two years in a row here (at the client's request). He liked it so much the first time he wanted to return. They gave us a great private space (The Chefs Room), personalized the menus and were great to work with when selecting the dishes and wines. The menu we selected made me drool. I only wish the client had invited me!

D&G...hmmm...This place had an interesting menu, including things like caviar-stuffed devilled eggs. Started off with some tapas-like appetizers, including yummy croquettes. We also won "customer of the day" (I suspect b/c we made a reservation) so we got 2 free apps. I had a salad filled with yummy crustaceons, many of which were fried. Everything was tasty, but unhealthy. The ambiance was a little bland (though outside dining looked promising). And, the service was particularly slow, given that this a power lunch place and was only half-full. Apparently they gave a great happy hour.

Ugh. My worst restaurant experience during my three years in DC. I'm not sure if we hit this place on an off night or what, but you couldn't pay me to go back and put any of that food back in my mouth.

I ordered the tortellini and it was terrible. The bright orange sauce that it was immersed in might as well have been sweet pudding. I had the ham removed but I doubt it could have improved it. My boyfriend had the gourmet pizza and it was not edible. It tasted like a spicy, char black rubber frisbee. The salad was okay and the chocolate cake was, thankfully, good since it ended up being my whole meal. The waiter was okay, not nice but not mean either. The best part of the whole night was the little boxes of red hots on the way out the door. I left wanting to walk down to Burger King and wondering why I'd just spent 35 bucks on that crap. So terrible.
