Most jewelry stores make me feel uncomfortable. I don't wear expensive clothes and I don't use a lot of makeup and I always feel like the people behind the counter instantly rate me as not worth their time. Not so with David & Sons. They are super friendly and helpful.
My fiance bought my engagement ring there a month ago and it is absolutely beautiful and unique. But there were two problems. First it was too big. Second it was white gold and sometimes I react to white gold (I have a nickel allergy). But they said I could resize it (free resizing for 1 year) and if I had a reaction after wearing it they would still buy it back and make a platinum duplicate for the difference in metal price. So far no reaction but I still thought it was very generous of them to offer.
Just a note on the jewelry itself, I love their designs. I really dislike the cookie-cutter rings I've seen my friends wearing and was looking for something different. David & Sons has so many options and such creative designs. My ring feels special. Which is exactly what I wanted. -

The service when I came in was very friendly.
The issue is this:
I bought my wife a pair of diamond hoop ear rings for Christmas. This was one of the more expensive gifts I have ever bought. After opening we decided to exchange for a different style. We came home, we live in San Jose and she decided that it was not her and we wanted to return them. Well here it is and it was not explained to me when I bought the earrings that there is NO return policy only exchange.
SO I bought a non custom item, and cannot return so now I am stuck with a pair of earrings that we do not want. Anybody interested email me.

Hard core yelper as I would like to think I am, I actually had not yelped jewelry stores before hitting the mall today with my fiance to look at wedding bands. Nonetheless, someone must be looking out for me because I found my way into David & Sons and was blown away by the customer service I received!
A little background- I already had my engagement ring so was just shopping for the band to go with it. I had looked at several other jewelry stores, both closer to where I live and in the UTC mall but hadn't found the ring that was just right. The other store that shall not be named but that was a close contender had a couple of rings that would probably work, but the woman that was "helping" me was pushy, condescending and pretty much made me feel guilty for not ordering bands sooner (my wedding is just over a month away). She said she would have to see if the overseas maker of the ring I liked could rush the ring to get it to me in less than the 6-8 weeks it usually takes. I gave her my info so she could check on the timing and waited for a call back from her.
It was only then that I happened upon David & Sons, and I am so glad I did! The woman that truly helped me there was very kind and patient and didn't make me feel pressured at all but brought out the most perfect ring after listening carefully to what I was looking for! It wasn't available in-stock in my size, so she went back and asked the jeweler if he could size it down for me. The answer was a yes and that it could be ready in a week! As an added bonus, their rings come with lifetime maintenance, free-resizing for the first year and unlimited cleanings and checkups. When I brought my fiance back with me to both the first place and then David & Sons, he, like me, just loved the ring we found at David & Sons. It didn't hurt that I raved to him about the customer service I got there either. One of the woners, Emil, came over to us and was so helpful and kind. He offered to clean up my engagement ring before the wedding for free. I totally felt like I was an honored guest in their store and am so happy to have gotten my wedding band here! I would recommend them highly to anyone looking for a beautiful ring and incredible customer service! -

I can't tell you how many jewelry stores I have walked into with the intention of looking at engagement rings and left feeling a mixture of annoyed, overwhelmed, and disinterested.
David and Sons was exactly the opposite for my fiance and I. Of course, at the time he wasn't my fiance. We came in later in the day on a weekday, and met Edmond, one of the owners. He made me realize that the problem with all of the other stores I'd visited was the owners and staff. Edmond and his staff genuinely appreciate all of their customers. I immediately felt respected in this store.
I realized early on that I am pretty picky about diamond symmetry. I wanted a princess cut, a little over 1 carat, and I wanted a nice diamond. But if it was more than 0.1mm off in either direction, it drove me nuts! Edmond rifled through his collections of loose stones, picking out diamonds he thought I'd like. He'd whip out the stone, give it to us for our inspection, and I'd give it a rating of like, love, or no way. He had enough pockets in his suit to accomodate all of my indecision diamonds. It probably took me an hour to find the perfect diamond. He didn't get annoyed. He didn't make me feel rushed. He didn't ignore us. When I found the diamond I knew was mine, he let us TAKE IT OUTSIDE TO LOOK AT IT UNDER THE SUNLIGHT. Alone. Without him.
So once I'd decided on the stone, I looked at bands, and pretty quickly found one that was modern and geometric; exactly what I was looking for. But I wanted to make sure that it would stand up to the beating I knew I would give it every day. And I told him that I wouldn't come in often to get it recoated with rhodium (white gold turns yellowish over time as the rhodium wears off , revealing the metal's natural color). He made me a stunning 18k gold band, a bit heavier than the one I'd initially liked, because I am really rough with my jewelry. He didn't even bat an eye to my slightly crazy request.
I came in a week later to try on the wax mold with my soon-to-be mother in law. Much to my surprise, the setting was completely done! She was thrilled, and Edmond was so sweet to her. It fit perfectly and we gave them the go ahead to mount the stone.
I love my engagement ring for what it symbolizes. I love Man Candy, and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with him. And I love David and Sons for making this such a pleasant experience for me. I can't wait to go back for matching earrings ;)

A little late (7 months late) to get to this review but better late than never.
I'm a fairly picky and competitive shopper (read: meticulous spreadsheets for any large purchase) and spent about 6 weeks shopping online and around various stores (based on yelp and friend's recommendations). After checking out about 7 or 8 different stores it was getting depressing, all the sales people were way too pushy. I then gave D&S a try - Maggie my main contact was incredibly helpful and patient, as was Emil when involved towards the end. I should also mention that during this whole time I was working on a pretty tight self-imposed schedule and once I had chosen the rock and the setting D&S where able to create the ring in under 2 weeks (mold & actual build)!

After nine years, the bf finally popped the big question with a gorgeous custom ring from David & Sons. =)
Now, as a foreword, the bf is not one that is good at shopping. This is probably the biggest understatement of the year. All I can say is that I'm glad he had the help and guidance of Angela at David & Sons. We did cheat a little bit and shopped around for a ring, but I could never find anything that I liked. We stopped by here on a whim and ended up working with Angela who is insanely intuitive and was able to pinpoint my taste and what I was looking for. (Even when I had no idea what I really wanted.)
We never felt any pressure to buy anything, unlike most of the other stores we visited. (One store even insisted that we sign up for their line of credit even though we were just browsing. Uh, what?!) I didn't go with the bf when he actually went back to make the big purchase, but he did say that everyone there was great and they definitely make the extra effort to stay within your budget and work with you so you can leave with what you want.
I had to have my ring re-sized even after having my finger measured, but they were more than accommodating and swift with the repair. I think it took about 4 days for the re-sizing and it didn't cost a penny.
The customer service and prices really can't be beat and we will most definitely be back to purchase our wedding bands from David & Sons. -

I came here to get one of my grandmother's earrings made into another piece of jewelry. My mom lost the partner of the earring and so I thought it would be nice if she could wear the earring as a pendant or ring in rememberance of her mom. I had already spoken to Emil over the phone about the earring and he told me to stop by so he could take a look at it.
I came to the store with my mom's earring. I don't think Emil was present, but I did mention to the saleswoman present that I spoke with Emil earlier about the earring. She took a look at it and in a condesending tone asked, "Is this even real gold? It doesn't look like it." Now granted I do not look my age, (I was 27 at the time) but by no means would I be dumb enough to bring in fake jewelry to a jewelers. I told her that my mom said that it was real gold and that the diamonds were real as well (this earring has been around probably longer than the woman has been alive).
She continued to "inspect" the earring and was sure that it was not real gold and said that the diamonds were not repairable and very damaged. After more comments about how the piece I brought in could not be worked with because it was not "real," I finally asked her, "Then what metal is it, if it's not real gold?" She said she didnt know and didn't try to explain herself. Most likely by this time she saw that I was frustrated and irritated with her. So she gave me back the earring and tried to amend the situation with a "Thank you for bringing in this piece, but unfortunately we cannot help you." Well, unfortunately the damage was done and I will not be returning here.
I'm sorry Emil, but you sounded really welcoming and nice on the phone, but this experience with my grandmother's earring left me with bad vibes. Maybe if the salesperson was a little less snotty and more polite I wouldn't have taken her comments to heart. -

We love David & Sons! My husband bought my engagement ring and we designed our wedding bands here.
The customer service is outstanding! Each time my husband and I visit the store, we are greeted as we are long time friends. We are allowed to window shop while my rings are being cleaned without pressure to buy anything. They re-dip my bands (white gold turns yellow after a while) at no charge once a year and give my rings a check up each visit. This last visit, they let me know some of my prongs were worn (6 years of daily wear) and fixed it for a very reasonable fee.
Most of all, we never get the "if you buy today, I'll knock the price to..." sales pitch. My husband came here after several other jewelry stores harassed him with that pitch while he was shopping for my engagement ring.
We will be lifetime patrons of this store! Thank you for treating us like we are more than just a wallet full of money. -

Wow, I was completely blown away by not only the engagement ring my fiance purchased here, but the customer service and the genuine care that Fay and the rest of the staff have for their customers.
My fiance spent months secretly meeting, planning, and working with Fay to surprise me with the perfect ring. With her help, he absolutely hit it out of the park. He assures me there is no way he could have done it without her. As if my GORGEOUS ring weren't enough, Fay included a pair of beautiful pearl earrings as a gift to me and I had never even met her!
After the engagement, I had to get my ring sized, and unlike many other jewelry stores I have gone to, David & Sons had my ring back to me and fitting perfectly the very next day. Every time I stop by to have my ring cleaned, or just to say hi, I am always greeted with such genuine happiness and care. I would never go elsewhere, and I would absolutely recommend David & Sons to all my friends and family. WOW, their customer service is IMPECCABLE. In the past couple of years I had gone to several jewelers and ALL but David & Sons have always been aggressive in finalizing a sale.
Edmond, our go-to guy, is always friendly, willing to educate me (Im a total guy and sad to say K knows more about jewelry than me) and always accommodating.
All of our purchases here have been a wonderful experience and never once have we felt the pressure to buy anything. Any questions weve had, were answered and even shown a comparison if need be.
If youre looking for an engagement ring, wedding ring, or just jewelry in general- I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND this company, Im SURE you will not be disappointed. You WILL leave this business with a smile on your face.

When it came time to pick out our wedding bling, we loved that it came from the family owned jeweler, David and Sons... "the one" was one of the 1st rings we'd looked at and we knew we had to come back for it... they made the entire process easy and enjoyable.

I love my RING!!!!! I recently received my engagement ring 2weeks ago. My fiancee bought my center stone elsewhere. He was very nervous about the whole process since I am a very picky person who happens to know a great diamond from a subpar diamond...Anyhow, the fiancee had to go in on his own and create a ring for me. He had gone to other jewelers with my mom, yet was uncomfortable. He decided to go to David and Sons since he was intrigued by the yelp reviews.
Needless to say, he came in and felt at ease. He did not feel duped or taken advantage in the slightest. They took care of my baby and made sure they helped design a beautiful ring for me...on a sidenote, he bought me a diamond that was lab created, I watched Blood Diamonds...
They even assured him that the sidestones that were added, were conflict free!
When I was proposed to, I forgot to say yes since I was in awe of the beautiful ring!
Thank you for my gorgeous ring and for making my fiancee feel at ease!

Hearts and Arrows! This statement is not for a video game or symbol of cupid. This is the type of diamond you want to get when you are shopping for one.
I had the pleasure of having Edmond help me this past Sunday. He actually remembered my last yelp review and was very apologetic and explained to me why the service wasn't "5 stars" that day.
Shopping for engagement rings isn't the most comfortable for my boyfriend, but Edmond helped him feel at ease. For a good amount of time they were talking about the diamond market and jewelry stores. My boyfriend even cracked a couple of laughs (which is rare at a jewelry store).
The diamonds came out and we were taught the general characteristics about the color, clarity and cut. I have never really learned too much about diamonds, but it was neat to see them under the loupe (it's a hand held magnifier) and observe all the qualities of the diamonds. What I love is that they weren't pushy for us to buy anything on the spot. Edmond explained all the pros and cons to the different types of materials and diamond cuts.
My ring size is 3.25 and since it is so small, Edmond was telling me that I had to get my ring custom made instead of just buying a regular ring and having it resized. I never realized that the reason of this is because the whole shape of the ring would change if it was only resized.
Now I can understand why David and Son's is a booming business and has such great reviews. I was misquoted on a price last time and I have to admit that their prices are very comparable to other places.

David and Sons is hands down the best jewelry store in SD. I've been to many others and none can compare to this place's quality if service and quality of selection. Han was very patient with us (my girlfriend took a VERY long time picking out the setting) and she was extremely knowledgable and helpful with my decision on the diamond (there's so much more to diamonds then I thought). The best part is their prices. I got a better quality diamond at a better price then other places I visited. I couldn't be happier with my experience with them. I can't wait to come back for our wedding bands (No Han, you can't talk me out of a plain yellow gold band... Vintage).

Yelp, you let me down. This is the first time I have gone to a business that my fellow Yelpers have loved and been told something different. I'm disappointed all around.
I recently became engaged and my fiance had my ring designed from his family jeweler in Indiana. It needs to be appraised, insured, and re-sized and I obviously cannot get to Indiana to do any of these things. So I turned to my roommate (who is also engaged and he got her ring from David's) and to Yelp for help. According to these reviews I could do all of these things there.
I walked in on a Saturday and was greeted by 2 smiling women. I explained that I was engaged and I needed to get my ring appraised and re-sized. She immediately told me that since I didn't get my ring there they would not help me. I wasn't even able to tell her that I didn't have a local jeweler before she turned away. The other woman kindly told me I could go across the sidewalk to Claire's and get something to size my ring.
I was expecting to pay for the services I required, but I did not expect to be cast out of the adult jewelry store so dismissively. Instead I was referred to a store swarming with 'tweens and their dazzling conversations, "A 7th grader told me boys like it when you wear long feathery earrings."
So now I am sitting here typing grumpily away with a plastic spacer on my 2 karat diamond ring and without a local jeweler to look forward to frequenting in the years to come.

Emil (an owner) wrote me a very nice note minutes after I posted this review with his Cell Phone number apologizing for my experience and asking me to call him so he could "Make it up to me". It was a very thoughtful note, and I will keep this in mind for the future. I went with another jeweler for my ring though and was very happy with the services I received there, but I do sincerely appreciate an owner that cares about every person's opinion and the reputation of his store. -

My fiancee and I have had a wonderful experience with the staff at David and Sons. They helped pick out my engagement ring and were actually honest enough to disuade my fiancee from getting platinum because they said it is soft and gets dings easily. He got a beautiful white gold band with a very clean diamond solitaire from them.
Everytime we go into the store they treat us like family and offer to shine my ring. We recently got our wedding bands from them and they even gave us a 100$ gift card since we were returning customers. They really take care of their customers and I highly reccomend them. I get so many compliments on my beautiful, shiny diamond!
You won't be dissapointed. -

I recently visited David & Sons jewelers because of how well they were reviewed on Yelp, however, my experience was less than 5 stars. Everybody was nice enough at the store but I felt like the pricing for their services was very expensive.
I came in to get my wedding and engagement rings re-sized and was told that the cost would be $278. That was pretty steep based on past re-sizing I have had done. They explained that part of this cost included their need to take out additional insurance because of the size of my diamond...btw, my ring is nice but it's not the Hope Diamond by any means. They kindly offered me their 10% online discount so that the total would only be $270. Since when is $8.00 10% of $278? Needless to say, I didn't get the work done there.
If you are looking to get a ring re-sized, you would be better off going to Kay Jewelers, which is right across from the store. They quoted me $90 for the same service. The only drawback was that it would take 2 weeks to have the work done and I needed it sooner.
I ended up going to Unicorn Jewelers and got the work done on both rings for $100. They were so friendly and helpful. My rings now fit and look great :)
I would suggest to others that they shop around because David & Sons was going to overcharge me for the services I requested and that's not cool. -

She knew what she wanted: Round cut, four prong, thin band, quality over size.
He knew what she wanted: A nice rock and a proposal.
After going to several other engagement ring stores, they ended up at David and Sons for that one ring that would be "it".
Upon entering David and Sons, the girlfriend was in awe of the vast engagement ring designs. Faye helped them pick several rings to her taste and gladly customized it to make it her own. The girlfriend even showed Tacori rings for inspiration and they incorporated the different designs to make it her dream engagement ring.
The boyfriend soon came back, excited, nervous, and prepared. With a final ring design in mind, Faye helped him with the final product. The final product that would join him and his girlfriend as fiance and fiance, then husband and wife. The final product that would start the rest of their lives together.
Four months later, he proposed. She said yes. The engagement ring was the most beautiful ring she could have imagined. It was everything she wanted and more. More importantly, David and Sons helped them in designing the ring that will bond the newly engaged couple for life.

If you're looking for an engagement ring, you have to make one of your stops at David and Sons because they will absolutely give you the best deal. Like many of the guys reading this, I was shopping for an engagement ring and went to straight to Yelp and stumbled across David and Sons and decided to see what they had to offer.
Upon my arrival, I met Emil and began discussing my budget and the type of diamond I was looking for. I told him that I was just doing some price comparisons and he did a great job making me feel very comfortable and didn't pressure me at all which is something I greatly appreciated while making this important purchase. He brought out a case and showed me various diamonds in my budget and taught me what to look for in a quality diamond. I thanked him for his time and told him I had more homework to do but we'd be in touch. After some more shopping around, I found that D&S by far had the best price on the diamond I was looking for. I made my second trip back to the store, bought my diamond ring and they had the ring ready for me in 2 days!
I surprised my girlfriend with a proposal on New Years Eve and she absolutely LOVED the diamond ring. I opted to go with a simple solitaire so that I could bring her to the store to pick out whatever setting she wanted. We went to to D&S as soon as they opened and sat with Fay as she helped us find the perfect setting. Fay saw how excited my fiance was to wear her ring and made a special arrangement to have our new ring re-sized and set in the same day! My fiance is constantly staring at her ring and our friends and family keep telling me what a great job I did with the ring! I owe it all to David and Sons. Thank you again Emil and Fay for your great customer service. I'll definitely be recommending you to my friends and family who are looking for their own engagement ring. -

Exceptional service and great deals too!
The owners were pleased as pie that I had found them on yelp and gave me a discount for saying so. But I really did have a five-star experience, yelp aside. I took in my engagement ring (already soldered to a wedding band, as it was my mom's) to get it re-sized and polished. It did take several days, but they were able to guess that I was between a half size and the next whole size up and sized the ring perfectly.
My fiance recently visited David's with me to select and purchase his wedding band, and we were once again impressed. He had gone to several other jewelry stores in town and been given varying levels of service and a wide range of quotes for similar rings. David's topped that with the lowest price AND the highest quality product. -

Toward the end of 2010 I decided that I was going to propose to my girlfriend. A friend of mine who lives in San Diego told me about David & Sons and how he, his brothers, and 7 of his friends had all gotten either Engagement Rings or other Jewelery from Emil @ David & Sons over the past 5 years. I live in Los Angeles, so I wanted to see if I could find a Jeweler closer to me. I met with 4 different Jewelers in the Los Angeles area and also visited Robbins Bros. Every time I met with a new jeweler, I just did not feel that trust and that care that I needed to entrust someone with the most important decision of my life.
After 3 weeks of dealing with LA jewelers, I decided to take a trip down to San Diego and meet with Emil. My friend met me at David & Sons and introduced me to Emil. I already had a slight idea as to what kind of style and band I wanted for the ring, but I was not as educated as I thought. Emil showed me diamond after diamond after diamond (in my price range) and explained every detail about their differences and similarities and his opinions on which he thinks I should get (and not just going for the most expensive one, which some of the other Jewelers I met with tried to do).
Within 5 minutes of being at David & Sons and meeting Emil and the crew, I knew that this was going to be the place I would get the ring made. After I picked out a diamond and a band, Emil even suggested a few changes that I could make to the band and the diamond setting to improve the look of it. The amount of assistance I received from Emil and his crew was of great help, seeing as though this was all going to be a surprise for my girlfriend (fiance now) and I had never discussed it with her. I had less than 2 weeks for my Proposal plan to be in effect, and Emil promised to have it completely ready in time. I was not expecting everything to be complete within 3-4 days of me ordering the ring.
Bottom line... The final product ended up being even better than I thought it would be when I ordered it, and my new Fiance was extremely surprised and very happy with the ring (and with me) when I proposed on January 22nd, 2011.

We stopped into David and Sons when we were at UTC mall. We were shopping for wedding bands and didn't want to go to the big names who usually rip you off (read: Jared, Robbins Bros.) After going to Kay and Ben Bridge, we found that David and Sons had a bigger selection and better prices than both.
We purchased our bands which were sized and ready to pick up within a few days. Emil also gave me a pair of pearl earrings as a thank you for being a new customer.
Excellent service and fantastic prices... check them out! -

Once again, David and Sons gave us a winning 5 star experience. We both have Birthdays in December, and we got a 100.00 gift certificate for that. We thought "great, time to buy Xmas presents for less money!"
We went in and asked what they had in the around 100.00 range, since we didn't want to spend too much on each member of my Fiances rather large family.
Emil agreed to let us have a pearl bracelet and pearl necklace for a total of 220$ (meaning we only had to pay 20$). The necklace itself usually sells for 200$ alone, so he really gave us a deal.

So, Emil has done it again.
When my little brother called me from Afghanistan to tell me that he wanted me to help him pick out a ring for his girlfriend while he was on R&R leave...I told him I had just the jeweler for the job. My bro is only in town for three days before heading up to see her so we are on a tight time line (not sure why I always have to put Emil to the test by needing my bling on short notice, but it doesn't phase him in the least!).
He helped my brother understand the 4 C's of a diamond and was patient bringing out anything he wanted to see and even pulling out suggestions from the back. When my brother wanted to think about it - he gave him his card and said he would be there when he decided to come back (how did he know we'd be back?).
At the end of the day, my brother ended up with a stunning solitaire ring that will be sized, custom set and ready for pick-up before he rolls out of town.
I can't describe how much it means to me that I was able to take my brother to D&S to help him pick out a ring knowing that Emil would not only give him a great ring, but that he would get it at an amazing price. Not to mention, I knew Emil was the only one that could have a ring ready in time for him to make his flight in 2 days.
I've said it before and I will say it again: I am so relieved that I have found a reliable and trustworthy jeweler in David and Sons.

Like a diligent consumer nerd, I researched what I could before stopping in, and Angela still spent enough time with me and answered all my questions to help make a great selection that my now wife still loves: a princess-cut white diamond, set in a custom, Tiffany & Co. inspired, white gold band. I'm a thrifty $-$$ shopper, so I was pleased that the appraisal amount was closer to $$$ than what I bought it for.
We always try to visit there first whenever we go to the mall because they'll have it cleaned **for free** and ready when we return. Everyone at the David & Sons UTC store is awesome. Definitely top marks for product quality, value, and customer service. Seeing Wifey's smile always earns Hubby of the Year points.
Don't feel intimidated to shop here & DIY jewelry shopping for the average guy is about as foolish as performing surgery on yourself. Angela will definitely try her best to help you find the jewelry for you or your special someone within your budget. I always keep Angela's business cards handy to give out.

What can I say that hasn't been said already. Emil is simply the best! When there are so many shady Jewelers out there all you can ask for is Honesty, Helpful and NOT PUSHY!
Emil treated me like if he had known me for years, as soon as I walked in and spoke to him I knew thats where I'd buy.. He doesnt need to act like a salesmen because the service and the care at David and sons sells itself.I was excited to go back and introduce him to my Fiance after the engagement. The main thing is he want YOU to be happy with your purchase because he knows youll be content and at same time be a customer for life which is what I will be. We already talking bout going back for our bands. Its the only Jeweler you wont cringe on having to deal with. Thanks Emil and crew! -

Go to this store.
Edmond defies the stereotype of a diamond dealer. He's honest. He looks at developing long-term relationships. His prices are reasonable. he delivers on time at the price he quotes. And the service is fantastic.
The only reason I went to this store was that it has such high scores on Yelp!
I spend 18 months looking to get a deal on a diamond engagement ring. And I got a great deal -- on Ebay after bidding on 30+ rings and buying 2 (the first did not pass the appraisal). Needless to say, it took a lot of effort for me to get a good deal. However, this store would have saved me countless hours and delivered a similar ring at a fair price.
I used this store for resizing... and could not help but see what they would charge for the ring that I eventually bought online. I feel comfortable recommending this store as a single-stop shop for buying rings and having them adjusted.

Jon and I just got engaged last Saturday - and he went to David & Sons in UTC for my ring! And do you know what helped him find this fine jewelry store?? YELP!
Jon first came in just to "look." But they told him to shop around, look online and research costs. Now who would tell a potential customer to leave and look somewhere else? Only a place that is confident in their service, quality and product.
Jon spent about a month designing the ring of my dreams from scratch with Angela. He brought in pictures of different rings, drew some designs and had a budget. Angela and the entire staff of D&S in UTC worked to make his vision a reality!!
My engagement ring is everything I have ever dreamed of...and more! Jon had such a GREAT experience working with Angela...He can't stop talking about it! We are customers for LIFE and will always refer our family and friends to this fine store.
Even when I came in yesterday to get my ring re-sized, they sure gave me the "red-carpet" treatment and had it done in 24 hours.

I shopped David and Sons when I was looking for an engagement ring. I worked with Emil and his brother, and was looking for something very specific. Both were helpful, but ultimately could not offer what I needed (a cut of stone readily available online but of which they had never heard). Anyone who has researched and shopped for cushion cuts should have an idea of what I'm talking about.
I think overall, and I'm not knocking these guys, David and Sons is a fine jeweler if you don't know much about stones and want to get something nice for a fair price. Credit where credit is due, their prices are great, particularly compared to the competition, and they will work with you when comparing their price to internet vendors. Some familiar conditions will, of course, apply.
What prompted me to write a review is that after purchasing our engagement ring from a more specialized New York vendor, we were quoted $100 for a polish/cleaning at D&S. I don't always expect services for free (despite the fact most jewelers will provide this service for no charge, no questions), but their price for a cleaning was out of line. The ring was barely 6 months old and not in bad shape at all.
I considered purchasing wedding bands from them, but will not for this reason. And if you must use a local brick and mortar to buy your stone, they're probably your best bet. Sometimes, however, Yelp turns into a circle-jerk for good businesses, and I do believe D&S is a good business, but my experience, at least, was not five-star. -

You really cannot go wrong with a place that has over 150 reviews and still has a full 5 star rating.
The quality and customer service are both top notch.
I had my wedding band re-sized. The price was decent and the craftsmanship was perfect. The ring fits very well and looks amazing.
This will be my new go-to jewelery store. -

We had a great experience with David & Son's. My husband and I were married in October 2010 and we have purchased our engagement ring and wedding bands from them. We were in the San Diego area in August 2009 and on a whim decided to go window shop for an engagement ring. We found David & Son's through Yelp and was so happy we did. Unlike most girls, I didn't have an idea of what I wanted and Fay assisted us in trying on different settings and ring styles. We did not purchase the ring on that same day and that was the last time we ever shopped for rings.
On January 2010, my husband proposed and surprised me with a beautiful engagement ring. He ended up returning to David & Son's after our first initial window shopping experience and had them make a customized ring based on the notes that Fay took on our visit. Mind you, we live in the LA area so my husband snuck out quite a ways to get my ring but I think it was worth it. We also went back to purchase our wedding bands. I always receive compliments on my ring and happy with the overall experience that we've had. -

My fiance and I went to David & Sons to just look at settings for my grandmothers diamond. The selection was beautiful and the staff was great at helping us make a decision as to what ring would fit us perfectly. All factors were considered: our personality, our budget, the style, the diamond, how would the diamond be fit into the setting. Everyone was very helpful and we ended up purchasing my wedding ring set that night! They were even so cute to give me a 'first time guest' present: a pearl bracelet. Since then, I have returned for service to my ring. They are always prompt to meet my needs and very quick and efficent in returning my items.

Angela was fabulous! After spending a week and countless hours online reading articles, forum posts, and wikis, my head was spinning. 4C's, VSI, GIA, fluorescence?! And how much was this going to cost me?! Angela really did a good job of explaining all of this to me, including the pros and cons, and more importantly where to focus to get the most bang for my buck. Not bringing my gf into the discussion, I had no clue what she liked, her ring size, or anything. Angela was incredibly helpful and alleviated all my fears that I might buy the "wrong" ring. I was able to stay on budget, get a fabulous ring just in time for my trip, and now 2 weeks later after an amazing trip to Paris and Venice, I'm engaged! =D

Edmond & Emil are simply amazing. After looking at several other stores I was beginning to get frustrated with the pushy sales people and overpriced stones. I had noticed that David & Sons was rated the best in San Diego on Yelp, so we thought we would check it out. It turned out to be the best choice. The staff is great, not pushy at all, and very knowledgeable. We were able to negotiate a lower price than anywhere we had been in San Diego, and got a better quality stone and setting.
I can't say enough about the service here either. Edmond & Emil took amazing care of us and kept us informed every step of the way. The ring was delivered right on time exactly the way we wanted it. David & Sons is perfect, and as far as I'm concerned - the only choice in San Diego for your diamond purchases.
The selection was also amazing. We had a specific style in mind and while we couldn't find a match elsewhere, we found the perfect setting here. It's a real treat to know that some businesses still take customer service seriously. -

Don't be fooled by the rocks that I got - 'cause I don't got any, son!
But my sister does. It's kind of ridiculous. I put it on once and I couldn't hold my hand up. I looked at myself in it once and was almost blinded. That bad boy shines every which way and while I'm mostly ignored in public, my sister gets mobbed left and right by people drooling over the jewels.
There's a good reason she married my brother-in-law and you can trust me on that one because he made her ass wait 10 years. That good reason is a 3+ carat bauble expertly crafted by David & Sons Jewelers in UTC. He put the work in, searching high and low for the perfect stone. When it finally appeared to him, he took it to David & Sons where they turned it into my sister's dream come true.
My sister returns frequently to get her ring polished because she's a diva like that. Just kidding! She goes back every once in a while and they're really good to her, maybe because they know they have another ring sale coming from our family (ahem, ME!) in a few (a couple? a lot?) years, or more likely because they're just that good at what they do.
If my only sister is happy, I'm happy. Mazel tov! -

I can't say enough about this place!
Shopping for my fiancee's engagement ring started off as a complicated and confusing process, but one that I definitely wanted to get right. After doing my initial research, I found David & Sons through Yelp and decided to stop by to get some questions answered.
I met Emil. I told him what kind of ring I was looking to purchase as well as my budget. Right off the bat, he told me how I could actually save money. I appreciated his expertise, professionalism, politeness, and most importantly, his honesty. He really worked with me and made sure I had everything I needed to make the right decision, regardless of if I was going to buy from him. I got the impression that Emil was most interested in earning and maintaining my trust, not just trying to "make a sale".
A few days later, I ended up purchasing my fiancee's ring from Emil. I really wasn't able to find a better deal than the one he offered. And just like he promised, my fiancee loved it!
We had to get the ring re-sized a few months later and that was no problem. They had it re-sized and cleaned the following day.
David & Sons is great, service is top-notch, and I highly recommend them!
