Love this place! I used to be adamant about not buying any of my jewelry from stores that were in malls - why, i'm weird like that. But my fiance was shopping around town and found that David & Sons provided high quality diamonds for reasonable prices - in fact, the quality of diamonds were better than the popular notable stores. David & Sons provides excellent customer service and are fair and negotiable with prices. I always feel welcome when I come here and they always recognize us and treat us so warmly. My engagement ring was custom designed (by the same jeweler who works with Philip Rivers on his jewelry - there is a picture in the store)... And the custom design was exactly out of the magazine - Ritani heart prongs for a solitaire diamond. We also purchased my 2 wedding bands there and we needed them rush delivered and they had it in a matter of less than 1 week. This place is the best!
David & Sons is the BEST place to get your jewelry! My husband purchased my engagement ring from here and designed the settings for both my engagement and wedding rings with their amazing staff. We are warmly greeted with smiles every time we come into either location. I get compliments everywhere I go with my ring and I always tell them about David & Sons. The staff is patient, knowledgeable and they actually care about you. Their customer service is outstanding! From start to finish, my beautiful custom made ring took two weeks to land on my hand. It was by far, the most stunning thing I had ever seen. This was in March 2007 and we have been back to peruse and purchase several times. We have had many friends who asked about my engagement ring and ended up purchasing their rings at David & Sons!
Last week, one of my side diamonds came out of it's setting and I lost it. I highly doubt this had anything to do with the workmanship but rather due to the fact that I am the clumsiest woman EVER and the ring has made contact with walls, furniture and the ground a few times. My husband called David and Sons and they fixed it up within two days! They even gave it back to me all polished and clean. I fell in love with it all over again.
Thank you Edmund and Emil for running this wonderful business and bringing joy to so many in San Diego! You and your staff are amazing and we can't wait to purchase our next sparkler from you guys!

When my fiancee was shopping for a ring his best friend recommended them and we are so glad he followed his advice! Their prices are fair and their work and service are extraordinary. Needless to say, this was a big purchase and could have been a bit overwhelming, but not with David & Sons. I feel like we are part of the family and they take care of us as if we were. This place has the best customer service, and they really do remember you whenever you come in. My fiance got my engagement ring here, and they rushed to get my ring resided since I was only in town for a few days. We recently went back to purchase our wedding rings, and the service is as great if not better than before.

I had my wedding ring custom made here to match my vintage engagement ring. I checked out the bands, explained what I wanted, and it came out better than I could even imagine.
We picked David and Sons because I also had my engagement ring sized here (this also came out perfectly - no warping at all), and it's been a great decision. I highly recommend them, not only for the great job they did on my rings, but also for the amazing customer service. These are good people, and they've always been super helpful, kind, and incredibly knowledgeable.
I was back in San Diego this past weekend and went in to have my earrings and ring cleaned and checked. They were so nice. It turns out that one of my stones was a bit loose (I tend to be a bit rough on my jewelry) and they tightened the prongs for me and made sure that everything was nice and secure. My fiance got my engagement ring custom made in LA, so when it came time for our wedding bands, we decided we'd shop around at jewelry stores in San Diego and possible consider getting my band custom made too.
But once we stumbled into David & Sons the search was over!! We were at the UTC mall purchasing my makeup from Norstroms and decided to walk around the mall on the nice, sunny Saturday. We were drawn to the gorgeous window of David & Sons and saw a ring that looked similar to my custom made engagement ring. So we decided to pop in for a look at bands...though we still had time till this purchase needed to be made.
We were immediately greeted by the super friendly Angela. After about 5 minutes of conversation, we felt like we'd known her for years!! Angela so kindly cleaned my engagement ring, showed me a couple bands and the rest is history!!
We'll continue to visit David & Sons for years to come and completely recommend this jeweler for the BEST prices, service, selection in San Diego. The owner Emil is the kindest man and will be sure that the diamond you fall in love with is the one you leave with.

We purchased my wedding ring at Whitehall Jewery in the UTC mall and they went out of business. Whitehall referred me to David & Sons and said they are a family run business and are honest.
I went to David & Sons to get my wedding rings cleaned and they are always friendly and never charge me for this service. They also don't every pressure me to buy anything.
Today, I sold them quite a few gold chains of mine and Emil Elghanian gave me a honest price for them. Nice check for old gold chains I never wear anymore!

But my sister does. It's kind of ridiculous. I put it on once and I couldn't hold my hand up. I looked at myself in it once and was almost blinded. That bad boy shines every which way and while I'm mostly ignored in public, my sister gets mobbed left and right by people drooling over the jewels.
There's a good reason she married my brother-in-law and you can trust me on that one because he made her ass wait 10 years. That good reason is a 3+ carat bauble expertly crafted by David & Sons Jewelers in UTC. He put the work in, searching high and low for the perfect stone. When it finally appeared to him, he took it to David & Sons where they turned it into my sister's dream come true.
My sister returns frequently to get her ring polished because she's a diva like that. Just kidding! She goes back every once in a while and they're really good to her, maybe because they know they have another ring sale coming from our family (ahem, ME!) in a few (a couple? a lot?) years, or more likely because they're just that good at what they do.
If my only sister is happy, I'm happy. Mazel tov!
Lovely items here. Purchased an aquamarine and diamond pendant from this David and Sons for a really good price on sale (be careful though, as there are no exchanges or returns on some things if you have buyer's remorse).
Customer service is great, and we usually come to this location for my ring cleaning and stone/setting check. A great, family-owned business that we will continue to patronize!
05/09 - Went back not too long ago to have my ring checked and to look at some settings, and again, it was a stellar experience! Even though I mentioned I wasn't in the market to purchase for a while, Angela sat with us and went through every case/box with us with rings she thought I might like.
You can't beat the customer service here, and I look forward to patronizing David & Sons for a long time.
I have been meaning to review David & Sons for a while now. I bought my engagement ring here about 3 months ago. I have nothing but the highest praise for this business. When I started shopping for the ring, I was pretty clueless about diamonds and rings. I went to this store first, because when I was Christmas shopping last year at the mall, I stopped into the store, and the staff was very friendly, even though I was not buying anything at that time (and I told them that).
Emil is the man who helped me first, I am pretty sure he is the owner. He asked me what I was looking for in a ring, and how much I wanted to spend. He showed me some loose diamonds that were absolutely gorgeous, and gave some information about what to look for when diamond shopping. Then he told me to shop around and compare and try to learn as much as I can. Emil did not pressure me to buy anything. He was really nice, and seemed honest. I am in sales myself, and I can see right through pretty much any typical sales tactic, so I really appreciated his approach - honest. Emil told me that after I had shopped around to come back and see him. He said he would beat any legitimate price, and in the end he would make me want to buy from him. He was right.
I went various local Jewelry stores, small and large, including the big-name stores. I shopped online. I found Blue Nile - this was a big step for me. Blue Nile had a wealth of information, and a ton of diamonds, with easy to understand prices. I highly recommend checking them out. I printed out all of the info and pricing for a super high quality diamond from Blue Nile, and took it back to Emil. He looked it over, told me it was a really good price for the diamond, and he would like to sell me a diamond for the same price. And that is what he did. I bought a diamond that was a little larger, nearly perfect color and clarity, with GIA certification, absolutely beautiful.
I don't usually take the time to make a long review like this, but I thought it was important to share my experience, hopefully it will help you decide to do business with David and Sons. I know I will be back.

My fiancé bought my engagement ring at David and Sons and all of my dealings with them have been pleasant and easy. They really worked with him while he was looking for my ring and gave him a great price on a beautiful diamond. On my birthday, they sent us a $100 gift certificate which we put toward my wedding band. Everyone I've ever encountered at the store has been so friendly and helpful. They really seem interested in building a loyal client base, so they take good care of you.
I agree with every other 5 star review here. My fiance purchased my engagement ring here and we have since purchased his wedding band from David & Sons, as well. The customer service is like nothing I have ever experienced. Per the fiance, they are not pushy/salesy at all. He went to several jewelry stores and David & Sons was the only one that made him feel comfortable about making such a big investment. Now, when I stop in to get my ring cleaned (free, by the way), I am greeted with smiles and hugs from the entire staff.

My boyfriend and I were in the market of buying an engagement ring, we had been to a couple stores before but I had a hard time finding exactly what I wanted or figured that I would KNOW when I saw it . So there we were, we rolled on in on Christmas Eve and fell in love with a cushion cut engagement ring. We both knew we had to have THAT ring. It felt so good trying it on-I loved it so much. We returned a few more times to make sure that was the one and Fay was so patient each time and so nice to work with. She made this whole experience an EXTREMELY positive one.
It is so nice to know that Emil and Fay and all the rest truly care about their customers. I have since purchased my fiances ring and plan on returning OFTEN to window shop and entertain my new love for diamonds. The very best part is the price. We looked in many different stores, and not only were they all more expensive, none of them treated us like David and Sons.

Emil and Fay have always been so nice and helpful. Both my parents, my sister, and soon to be brother-in-law have purchased beautiful settings and stones from David and Sons for the last 4 years. They have had nothing but wonderful service and highly recommend them. We are good friends with a diamond dealer, however we always choose Emil, because of their constant quality and unbelievably low prices. We don't shop anywhere else, we go straight to David and Sons.
I just purchased an engagement ring at David and Sons today and was thoroughly satisfied with my experience. Fay and Emil were both very helpful and most importantly [to me] friendly and sincere. I had been doing research online for a while and quite frankly was not looking forward to dealing with the sales people at your typical jeweler. I read the reviews here so just went over the weekend to look at a new setting for my engagement ring. When we walked in, no one acknowledged us. The store overall felt cheap.
We were looking at one counter and a woman came over and I told why were were there and some styles that I'd seen that I liked. I thought from there she would show me a couple of things that seemed like a good match but she just walked away and told me to holler when I saw something. Every other place that I've gone to has been way more consultative. The staff is usually extremely helpful as they know their stock better than someone who just walked in.
I asked her to show me a few things and she never once told me details about the setting or made suggestions. Eventually, I told her that I had something else in mind. She asked, completely tactlessly, where I had seen it and how much it cost. Then she told me that the store I liked (Charles Koll) was over priced and they could make the same ring for much less.
Judging by her crappy service and how cheap the store looked, I was not interested in finding out what they would throw together. We're sticking with Charles Koll - ask for James - he's wonderful!
Don't go anywhere else if you are looking for fine jewelry!
I first visited David & Sons back in 2005 to buy my girlfriend at the time some diamond stud earings. The customer service was amazing and she loved the stones. I always told myself I would come back the next time I needed diamonds.
Fast forward 4 years and it was time to buy an engagement ring (as a side note, not the same girl). I went back and spoke to Fay who remembered me after 4 years and showed me the same great customer service I received the last time. Since this was such an important and expensive investment I had to shop around. After visiting 3 other jewelers I found that David & Sons was by far the most competitive. I got a great diamond ring and probably saved over $1,000 compared to other stores. The best part about this story is she said yes and loves the ring!

My interaction with David and Son's is very unique. My husband and I experienced a very awful situation in which the engagement ring we purchased from another jeweler was mislabeled and basically a fraud. Needless to say, they wouldn't give us a refund; we had to take legal action and ended up on the news. David and Sons heard about our situation and gave us an incredible deal on a new engagement ring. I can't tell you how dependable and trust worthy they are especially after going through such a horrific and slightly traumatizing experience. Not to mention the top quality of jewelry they sell at their store and they can customize any ring style for you. The employees are always very friendly and remember my name every time I go in to get my ring cleaned. By the way, they also clean and re-polish your ring for free and you can upgrade/exchange your diamond for the price you paid anytime. I swear this place is magical. I HIGHLY recommend that you buy your future wife's ring here.

I would consider my review to be a cautionary post for those interested in jewelry other than diamonds. After reading such positive reviews, I made the drive from South Bay up to the UTC location. I had a ring that I wanted to get fixed/repaired/reshaped. It was a promise ring my husband gave me 9 years ago. I had lost the emerald and the band was cracked. Since I'm not a jeweler, I took it to these highly recommended people. There were 4 employees behind the counter and none of them seemed interested in me. There were maybe 3 other customers in the store, but they seemed to be together. I went up to a woman by the name of Stella and asked her if I could get my ring fixed or what my options might be. She seemed thoroughly uninterested in me and my ring. A gentleman she called Emil examined it with a loupe, but didn't say anything. I thought to myself, "This can't be *the* Emil of Yelp customer service fame". He gave the ring to Stella and told the two of us that it couldn't be repaired for less than 5 or 6 hundred. I was prepared to hear that sort of thing, so I immediately asked if they could shape it into some kind of pendant so I could wear it on a necklace. Stella said that it would be a bad idea because gold is porous and it wouldn't set right. I was surprised to hear that after all the talk about custom jewelry that they do. Perhaps I was unclear about what I wanted done. I thanked her for her honesty and asked to see what they had in the way of emerald rings. She showed me a few different styles including some that came from their safe. I did see a few that were both in my price range and a style that I liked. However, being the romantic, I wanted my husband to get something for me, so I held off buying anything. I appreciated that she took the time to show me the selection, though. I then asked about my engagement ring potentially getting fixed. It's platinum and my wedding band is 10K white gold. A trench is starting to form on my engagement ring where the two meet (after 4 years of marriage). I asked about getting a wrap made or what could be done. She said that it wouldn't make sense to get a wrap because I would have the same problem. All she seemed interested in showing me were other settings so I could get my diamond reset. At that point I realized that I wasn't going to get the 5 star service that I was expecting to get. The moral of the story? All that glitters with 5 stars is not gold.
My fiance got an engagement ring to me at the David and Sons, a family owned/operated Fine Jeweler. They are very loyal to customers. We brought our own diamond and asked them to make an original ring. Their consultation was very professional and kind.

Ring shopping can be an overwhelming and exhausting experience. When my (now) husband and I were shopping for rings, we must have been to at least a dozen jewelry stores, all with standard rings, little customization, and mediocre customer service. But then we stumbled into David & Sons and met Angela. Oh my god. She was amazing. She took the time to listen to what we had to say, pull out a few pieces, draw up a few sketches, and then pull out boxes and boxes and boxes of rings from "the back room." We were there for hours, and eventually custom designed my engagement ring. The process was flawless and so fun. She first drew it up, sized my finger and said they'd have a wax model in about a week. Went back, tried on the wax model, made a few changes, and 2 weeks later, my fantastic, custom creation was for real. The price was far less than "off the rack" rings at other jewelers. We also had my wedding band custom designed to match the e-ring, and that came out just as fantastic. I now have some super bling, that is totally unique. I love David & Sons. They will never rip you off and the customer service is top notch. Sadly, I no longer live in the San Diego area anymore, but I would recommend them to anybody who does live in the area. They are the best.
