Dave's Skis & Boards
7 reviews for Dave's Skis & Boards
In and out - that is my key to a good rental place. The equipment is sturdy and the service was so laid back and friendly. I really appreciated the ease of pick up and check-out. We were in and out of the place in 15 minutes. Plus, you can tell the guys really know the slopes and how to fit people to the proper equipment.
Oh and with the coupon, the rental price for 2 days was SUPER cheap! It was like $45 or something. Plus, they allowed us to drop it off on the morning of the 3rd day before 10 AM. CRAZINESS!!! Much better than renting at Squaw and cheaper than Northstar rentals, as well!!!
These guys rocked.. Coolest ski bums/stoners :D
Rented a board and boots for ~$90 for 2 1/2 days. Cheap, thorough, and friendly staff.. What else would you want?
This is our rental shop of choice when we are renting snowboards to board at Northstar. This time, we were just in the search of some good, sturdy sleds and the knowledge of where the locals go for some good sledding. Even though Dave's didnt' have what we needed, the very friendly (though smelling of alcohol) worker gave us directions and even pulled out a nice map to point us to the best area (on the way up to Mt Rose). That's good customer service -- nice even when you know you won't get business from the customer!
We all know that if you don't have the right equipment when you're headed up to the slopes, it's just not going to be a good day.
Just 15 minutes from NorthStar Lodging, this Kings Beach location is an ideal stop the night before you're headed up to the resorts. Their eqipment is in pretty good shape and their staff is helpful and friendly.
We had to wait a little bit because they just had two groups that had arrived before us but, I didn't mind waiting because i got to try on all thier cute hats! Plus, they gave me a discount cuz it was my birthday.... HOLLA! You can also get a 10% discount if you go to http://www.snowbomb.com as well.
They have basic skiing/boarding accessories but, they don't carry full ski/snowboard gear like pants or tops.
BTW... you should try either Steamers or Jasons across the street to get a bite to eat. MMMmmm. Mozzerella sticks.
Dave's Rentals is rad. These guys really like their jobs. they are helpful, give you the right gear, and even talked me into buying a pair of sweet goggles. If I ever need rental equipment, I am coming back. This beats renting at the resort, hands down. Most importantly, you don't get ripped off for renting local!.
Rentals for board/boot/binding were $29 for the first day and $25 for each day after. The staff weren't too particularly helpful; it felt like they wanted me out as fast as possible. I also had a feeling that more than one worker was stoned. That may have been why one of my bindings was missing a screw and no one noticed. Inspect your equipment before leaving the shop! The cheap price for rentals is the only reason I'd go back.
ive had my old board for 15 years.
its gotten me through crazy tahoe trips.
i recently got a new to me used board, but fuck, i still like my 15 yr old board.
it makes sense for me to bring my board in a rack/trunk of my car.
what doesnt make sense to me is renting a board in sf and driving it up to tahoe, or renting at the resorts.
local places like daves, they gots good gear and they actually want you to have a good experience.
if youre renting, do yourself a faovr and try out the local shops.
youd be surprise how much of a difference it makes.
