Went here twice in two weeks. First I did a maternity photoshoot with a client and was amazed on it's awesome location. so hidden from the rest of the world. really dope cove, beach, train tracks on the way, cool art graffiti....
Then went there just last friday {the second week} and caught an amazing lady and made it official...very secluded and made it romantic with the use of my suave haha...
a must visit place....best during Fridays!

Cool beach to chill on and sun bathe, throw the football around, drink beer, play cards, smoke hookah, BBQ, boogie board, bon fire, etc. I still like Panther Rock beach a little more since there's a little less people on that beach since it's more secluded and less people know about it. But it's cool that they got that little plaza across the street with a liquor store, Mexican food, bakery, gift shop, etc.
Got some small caves over here too, but beware of the high tide later in the day. You won't want to set up camp on that side of the beach. Beach could be a little cleaner, so yeah, pick up your dog nuisances and pick up and throw away all your garbage and broken glass, bottles, cans, cigarettes, etc.

Over the hills, and far away...Teletubbies come to play--err, i mean I came here to play a few times with my good friends. This beach is awesome considering I come from SoCal where most of the beaches are ridiculously filthy. It's way down Highway 1...we usually park across from the saloon restaurant/liquor store and then you have to trek across the train tracks and walk over the cliff down to the beach. There's a few ways to get to the beach, but that's the most scenic.
The beach itself is pretty clean for the most part except when people break their bottles or leave all their beer cans around. But other than that, this beach is a nice secluded spot if you wanna go chill out in the sun, hang out with your good friends, read a nice book, or just sit down to reminisce. All the way at one end of the beach there's a huge lot of stones...I really enjoyed skipping stones with my friend and just shooting the sh!t for a couple hours. On the other end is a bunch of sea anemones if you like looking at those.
I've come here a couple times for a bonfire as well, which is a lot of fun since nobody is around and people can't really hear you. Be warned though, I've heard the cops crack down on this place sometimes. Also, be careful about how much stuff you carry down...because you're gonna have to lug it all the way back up the hill to your car afterwards!
This beach will always give me warm, fuzzy feelings the way Teletubbies did (jk, i was too old for them)...but you know what I mean. I had quite a few good times here some of my best friends...I'll need to hit it up again soon!

TECHNICALLY you're not supposed to camp out or bring alcohol to this beach, but people do it anyway. Staying overnight as I did for a friend's birthday bonfire is much more tolerable than a night camping out at Ocean Beach in SF. A group of us once tried to do the overnight bonfire thing at Ocean Beach once but wimped out around 2 a.m. when it got unbearably cold.
Davenport Beach is still chilly, but if you've got a comforter wrapped around you and a couple of Coronas in your belly, you'll be okay.
Because there are cliffs just off of Highway 1, each section feels like your own private beach. You have to park along the highway and it's kind of a bitch to bring things down to the beach because the sand is so loose. It's even more of a bitch to bring things back up, so expect a workout.
Because I was there with my friend's friends, my first visit to Davenport Beach was also the first time I had to pee in front of the bf, and standing up no less. I asked him to hold up a blanket to block others' view, but it didn't block his =[
Anyway, I woke up before everyone else did the next morning and started bagging the empty bottles of alcohol out of sheer boredom. Soon after everyone else woke up, we saw cops at the top of the cliff working their way down to our campsite. Busted! They asked for our IDs and took down our information, saying they wouldn't report anything if we cleaned up everything within 15 minutes.
I was a little relieved we were kicked out so soon (roughly 9 a.m.) because at that point the only food we had was watermelon and cold tortillas. Not even when I was poor did I try that combination. Uh-uh.

OK this place is awesome!! I go here all the time with all of my friends and every time we go we have a great time. We always park across the street and walk down the hill. Usually when we go its not to crowded. There's usually like 1 or 2 other groups of people there, and they always end up joining your party anyways. There has been one occasion where I went and there was to many people and the cops broke it up. But I have been coming here since high school and that is the only time that has happened. The beach is clean, and people usually pick up after themselves for the most part. Make sure you bring wood because there isn't any on the beach. And make sure you bring a flash light because going back up that hill when your intoxicated could be kind of hard. Anyways, this is the most chill beach in Santa Cruz and it is always a good time.
Really beautiful beach. Pristine. The beach is now patrolled by the Sheriff and closed 10pm to 6am, everyday. The Sheriff patrols the North Coast beaches throughout out the night and keeps people from camping here. No camping, no fires, no alcohol, no fireworks allowed. Additionally there is a large ticket $$ for parking on Davenport city streets past 10pm. It is resident permit parking only 10pm to 6am. Please enjoy the beach and be respectful of the community in Davenport. Clean up after yourselves.
