Das Bierhouse
1 review for Das Bierhouse
If you're going to drink beer, why not support the local brewery? And if you're in Menomonie, this is the place to do it.
They have free tastings at the bar to help you with your decision. And once you have--order the boot! The boot is an 18-inch-tall glass boot shaped like Italy, minus the heel. I forgot to ask how many ounces fill each boot but this is definitely something you share with friends because it is A LOT of beer. And be prepared to leave a credit card at the bar as collateral. You break the boot, you buy it. You steal the boot, you buy it.
They brew their own Dopplebock, Dunkel, Hefeweizen, Leichtbier, Marzen and Pilsener. I've been here twice and have had the Hefeweizen and the Pilsener; I liked them both.
This is also one of the spots in Menomonie that is attended by locals and college students alike. I like that because my favorite kinds of digs appeal to a lot of different people.
The only thing lacking was the overall feel of the bar which could use a little work. It's almost too generic. If they ever leave this location, the next tenants wouldn't have to be a bar for it to work. And as one member of our group pointed out, "it feels like we're in the basement of a church." And yeah. That's exactly what it was like.
